Hello my fantastic friends!

Here's another countdown calendar for you folks! This time it's Rudolph, patiently waiting for Christmas Eve!

The project is pretty similar to the other shadow boxes! Simple construction, provision for the LED lighting at the back, and easy to print parts.

Some parts are using the fuzzy skin settings, but its clearly identified at the end of the file names.

As usual, no supports needed, place are already placed in the right orientation and complete assembly instructions are included.

For your 31 day countdown, you will need the following digits: 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. (13 digits in total)

Regarding the hardware, you will need (4x) M3x6mm screws and your favorite lighting. I use conventionnal, cutable LED strips mounted on the backplate of the assembly. You can also mount them around the light box, instead of directly onto the backplate.

For the Dark blue background, because there's a lot of cutouts into it, make sure to have a dried filament, the right amount of flow and a slower speed than usual. I printed mine at 50mm/s on my X1C, and my filament wasnt dry enough, so i have some imperfections and drag lines, but they're barely noticeable unless you look very closely.

TEXT VERSIONS INCLUDED:

-Days till Christmas-Days til Christmas-Jours avant Noel (french version)

A complete BAMBULAB 3mf file for the whole project is also included.

In any case, if you have some problems with the project or the files, or you are not familiar with some 3D Printing settings i'm using (like the fuzzy skin setting), feel free to send me a private message. I will try to help you as much as i can, with no judgement.  ;) There's no stupid questions, and not everyone is at the same level, so don't be shy to ask! ;)

Have fun my friends!

I love just the shadow box aspect of this. I may have to print it without the count down. Would it be possible to have a top snow part without the holes used for the numbers

Hello Adam. I just made a test on the files in the dropbox, and everything is opening fine for me. Try to re-download the zip file. Maybe a transfer problem occured.

I just completed printing all parts and am currently following instructions for Step 1. NI noticed the 3 pieces (white, blue with stars, and outer frame) do not fit into the box unless forced which leads to a lot of bending

Hello my friend! Probably because you're having a bit of over extrusion when printing the rings. It can happen depending on your settings. My tolerance on those parts is 0.3mm between them, so the fit should be good but a bit of over extrusion will make them hard to fit together. You can scale down the rings a bit if you want (like 2%) and make a test with one ring to see if it will solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I will try scaling down to see if it works.

Would you be able to provide a filament bill of materials? Thank you!

Hi! I'm trying to print out the bells using orca slicer but I'm running into an issue. Using a black base, I use the paint bucket tool to paint the top layers of the bow and the tab red, and the bell and knocker gold. Should be pretty simple since they're at different heights but the slicer wants to drop the color throughout the section, leading to 20+ filament changes. Any idea how I can address this? Thanks!

I recently made a little adapter piece to stick three digits on top for my kid. Yes it's silly but it's great to help learn Fusion360! :) https://than.gs/m/993813
