Shannon, Vertical Lowbrets, 1990s (Patreon)

I've recently begun the process of disassembling old photo albums in an effort to maximize the storage of the prints, VHS tapes, and ephemera that makes up the archives that provide content for Sacred Debris and Occult Vibrations; 200 photos take up far less space than the large 3-ring albums that contain them. It's been pleasantly nostalgic to see the prints in the context that I put them in two and a half decades ago- building a good photo album took a lot of work, making sure the prints worked together for when friends would check them out.

They'll all be properly scanned in time- though for internet sharing digital photos of analog prints seems to work just fine. 

This print features BMEZINE founder Shannon Larratt sometime in the mid 1990s at Stainless Studios. Asymmetrically stretched lobes, no eyebrows, and showing off fresh Vertical Lowbret piercings by Tom Brazda. 

Per the BME Encyclopedia:

The vertical lowbret piercing starts inside the mouth between the lower lip and the teeth (not behind the teeth as with a mandible piercing) and travels straight down, exiting on the lower edge of the jawline. This piercing is usually done with a straight or very slightly bent barbell 1.5" to 2" in length depending on anatomy.

Healing is usually uneventful, although the piercing can be quite sore at first. Gum erosion is also a risk depending on placement. In some cases there may be some transfer of fluid from inside the mouth to the outside of the piercing.
