Hey everybody, I hope 2021 is off to a good star for you all, for me I’ve had lots of track requests and feedback, so it’s taking me a fair bit of time to work through everything. Towards the end of the month, you can expect a fair chunk of updates for some of the more popular tracks, as well as possibly a new one. However, today I bring you not a track per se, but still a great place for some driving. This is a re-creation of Portales Municipal Airport in New Mexico.

note: there's a typo in the name of the track so it will show up as "portales_muncipal_airport" I've misspelled municipal, and only just spotted it. Please don’t ask why I chose this airport to re-create, there’s nothing special about it, I just zoomed into the middle of America on google maps, spotted this one and it seemed to have pretty good ariel photography. There is a ‘track’ layout as you’ll see from the in-game map. I’ve overlayed a satellite image of the airfield into the map files, so if you go ‘off track’ you’ll still see areas of asphalt etc (it’ll make sense once you see it in game). It’s come to my attention that some of the maps on recent releases have been off, I think with this release the issue is now resolved, so going forward I’ll be updating the maps of current tracks when they are released.

The track layout makes use of the runway and some of the taxiway, before finishing with a technical section in the plane refueling area. There’s an airbus A380 parked up which is probably way to big for the airfield its on, but it looks cool to drift around! The killer feature (in my opinion) is all of the runway lights, they’ve been semi-accurately reproduced, and light up in spectacular colours at night, and lead to some really nice photo opportunities for all of you that love to press f7 and take some snaps!

Anyway, as I say, some more track updates will be out at the end of the month so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks,Tyrone

Hey dude, welcome back! There is AI for this track yeah, but it's three years old now (wow!) so it's not the best ever. If you're looking for some decent tracks, check out some of my newer posts :)

Dig it. An American Top Gear track, and in my state as well. Very cool, and super fun layout, lots of room for top end and braking. Thanks!

This is such a cool idea and a really good looking "track" It's actually way more fun than I thought it might be and that Airbus makes an awesome backdrop for pictures. Please tell me this is getting a public release as i reckon it deserves a wider audience.

Feedback in use: When driving certain cars, I think I noticed it only on the Lamborghini Hurracans, there's a spot in the last turn, right in the middle of the radius that catches cars. I've caught it driving, I get message during a race about a "stuck car", and I've seen ai cars get caught on it too. I seem to be able to avoid it if I swing wide, but I take a line that crosses a certain point, the car stops abruptly. Otherwise, this track is a blast, and the lights are sick.

Really like this one, thanks, I'm glad this is where you're scrolling ended up! Really enjoying using this as a test track for some of the historic cars (like in the Le Mans '66 movie).

I like this idea a lot, great track and interesting location. My first thought was, yeah that A380 never would have landed there! None the less a cool feature. This got me thinking(dreaming?) about some of the many automotive mags that I saw with planes being used in the background. I would like to suggest a few more be added for those f7 people :) I don't know where you get the models from, I could be of assistance, but here is a couple of suggestions: 1) P-51 Mustang - IF the textures can be done with the shiny bare metal, otherwise it will look wrong and fake. Very typical plane for backdrops as the Mustang car was named after it. Otherwise possibly a Spitfire. 2) Modern Military Jet - A-10 Warthog with camo, F16 in standard Military grey or maybe easier F-16 in Thunderbird demo team gloss white colors. 3) Lear Jet - mostly seen in early 80s mags since it was the typical Miami Vice drug lord business jet of the era, lots of Porsches/Lambos from that time got photographed in front of these. Personal favorites: English Electric Lightning, Stearman Biplane, C-5 Galaxy, T-38, F-100 Super Saber, F-104 Starfighter, Eurofighter Typhoon, RAF Tornado, and F117 Stealth Fighter. This list could have millions of peoples opinions because, like cars, everyone has different tastes, however I am trying to think realistic as to what may be available in models and not be overly complicated. Also, IMO, they have nice lines for photographic interest. Anyhow if there is anything I can do to help move this idea forward, let me know.
