Hey everyone, Instant Dungeons 1.5.1 is out!

You can now recolor compatible Dungeondraft assets, edit placed objects through a new right-click menu, search much larger asset libraries, and optionally turn a finished map into a single image for play.

Many Dungeondraft packs include special colorable objects and floors. Until now, Instant Dungeons could import those assets, but they remained in the bright red source color used by Dungeondraft. With 1.5.1, you can choose their final color directly inside Foundry.

You can set a color from the Dungeon Mapper before placing an asset, or right-click a colorable object that is already on the map. Each placed object remembers its own color, so one copy can be blue, another can be green, and both can still use the same original asset.

Placed objects also have a much more useful right-click editing menu. While the Dungeon Mapper is open on the Objects tab, you can right-click to duplicate, flip it horizontally, bring it to the front, send it to the back, or delete it.

Overlapping objects are easier to manage too. When several objects are under the pointer, the menu shows a small preview of each one so you can select exactly which object you want to edit. This is especially useful for rooms with rugs, furniture, decorations, and other layered pieces occupying the same space.

I deliberately kept these controls tied to the Objects tab. That way, normal right-clicking on the scene is not taken over when you are doing something unrelated to map editing.

Another addition is Flatten for Play.

Instant Dungeons maps normally remain completely editable, which means the scene contains the separate floor, wall-art, and object tiles used to build it. Most users have not reported performance problems with that workflow, but a few people (only one really) playing on older computers or tablets needed a lighter option.

Flatten for Play turns that map artwork into one image while keeping the functional Foundry walls and lights in place. If you need to change the map later, press Return to Edit and the editable pieces come back.

This feature is completely optional. If your maps already run well, there is no reason to add the extra step.

I also expanded search and category filtering beyond the Objects tab. Floors, walls, doors, and objects are much easier to find when you have several large Dungeondraft packs enabled. You can search by asset name, filter by pack, and use any useful subfolders included by the pack creator.

Active pack choices are now saved per Foundry world as well. A science-fiction game's enabled packs will no longer automatically become the active selection in an unrelated fantasy world.

The Dungeondraft importer received some important improvements behind the scenes. It now recognizes more of the ways packs organize floors and terrain, and it keeps wall endcaps from appearing as normal wall choices. Colorable floors also use the new color workflow.

Finally, the village generator is in a much better place. Roads connect to building doors more reliably, buildings no longer interrupt roads in the same way, internal rooms receive better door connections, and there are additional settlement shapes such as the horseshoe layout shown in the video.

There is enough village work here for its own walkthrough, so the release video here only gives it a short preview. I will cover that side of the update in more detail in another post and video.

Place & Recolor Dungeondraft Assets in Foundry VTT

Get Instant Dungeons on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheAugur Instant Dungeons 1.5.1 adds a new way to recolor compatible Dungeondraft assets directly inside Foundry VTT. The assets featured in this video come from DnDungeon Overhaul by Cyclopean, one of my favorite Dungeondraft asset packs. It is available separately and is not included: https://cyclopean.itch.io/dungeondraft-overhaul Choose a color before placing an asset, or right-click a colorable object already on the map and change it there. Each placed object keeps its own color, so the same source asset can appear in several different colors across one scene. This update also expands object editing with duplication, front and back ordering, horizontal flipping, deletion, and a visual picker for selecting objects when several overlap. Larger asset collections are easier to browse with search and pack-based categories across the Dungeon Mapper. The video finishes with a preview of the improved village generator, including more reliable road connections and new settlement layouts. #FoundryVTT #Dungeondraft #TTRPG #MapMaking #DungeonMaster ## Chapters 00:00 Using Dungeondraft assets in Foundry 00:31 Recoloring placed objects 01:17 Duplicating and scaling objects 01:40 Finding colorable assets 02:28 Object layers and overlap selection 03:46 Searching floors and walls 04:21 Filtering by asset pack 04:48 Village generator improvements
