[UPDATE] - Nexus & Sci-Fi: Your Character, Your Ship, Your Faction | Traveller Support (Patreon)
Content
This update gives players more ways to take part in the campaign world: customize their character, manage a shared ship and its crew, and take charge of a faction, with the GM choosing what each player can access and manage.
It also brings deeper Traveller integration to Augur: Sci-Fi, connecting your worlds and ships to their Traveller information and making the Trade Exchange accessible from planet dossiers.
There’s quite a bit to show, so this video follows a small journey. We start as a player, visit a planet, buy cargo, check our ship, and travel to another system to sell it. Then we switch to the GM’s view and go through the setup.
A place for your players in the world
The Player Wheel keeps a player’s character, assigned ship, and faction within easy reach. From there, players can open their actor sheets or campaign dossiers, customize the entities they’re allowed to manage, and keep their connections up to date.
In the video, I show how to change a character’s portrait, choose a ship’s appearance, add an NPC to its crew, and manage a faction. Multiple players can share the same ship or faction.
Ships, worlds, and Traveller
The redesigned Ship dossier brings together the ship’s image, captain, owner, crew, and world connections, with a Traveller tab for linked spacecraft.
You can also link a Traveller World actor to a Sci-Fi planet, bringing its information into the planet dossier. Players with access can read that information and open the Trade Exchange to buy and sell cargo using their linked ship.
The trading mechanics and goods come from NotASnark’s MGT2e system. This update connects those existing features to the Augur interfaces.
Setting it up as the GM
The second half walks through linking worlds, setting up player identities, assigning ships and factions, and choosing between access and management permissions. You can also preview a player’s wheel while setting things up.
The Player Wheel works across game systems, with Augur: Fantasy or Augur: Sci-Fi active. The Traveller portions of the video specifically use MGT2e.
The update also includes the quest overhaul, which I’ll cover in a separate video.
If you use Nexus and Sci-Fi together, update both modules for these changes.
Thanks for supporting the continued development of these tools!
