[Update] - Quests! | Build quests from the world you've created (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone!
Your world already has people, factions, settlements, and dangerous places to explore. Quests brings them together into adventures your group can follow inside Foundry.
I've put together a walkthrough that builds a rescue quest from those existing pieces, connects it to a dungeon, and follows the story through the rescue and the escort home.
Start with someone who needs help
In the video, Celia Valecourt needs us to rescue Perrin. I pick them from the people already in the world, drag them into the quest, and connect the ruins where he's being held.
These cards link to the actual people and places in your campaign. You can open their records directly from the quest, add an involved faction, and decide how those relationships fit the story. Fantasy gives you people to work with; you decide why this particular rescue matters.
Put the adventure on the map
Using Instant Dungeons, I create the ruins and connect that site to the rescue goal. Once inside, I can drag Perrin straight from his quest card onto the map to place his NPC marker where he's being held.
The GM can prepare monsters and encounters around him, while the quest keeps the objective and its references close at hand. It connects the regional map, the dungeon, and the person the party came to find.
Let the quest grow with the story
Rescuing Perrin doesn't have to be the end. Add an Escort goal to bring him back to Coastcombe, then update each goal as the adventure unfolds.
Goals can have their own descriptions, destinations, allies, and opposition. Custom components let you add other roles or references; in the video, I use one for potential dungeon loot. You can also attach compendium items as rewards or write a reward such as payment or a favor.
The GM records the outcomes and awards the rewards. Quests keeps the adventure's progress and promises together.
Give players a shared record of the adventure
The video also shows the player side. Keep a quest GM only, share it with Players, or choose whose quest lists include it with Selected players. Individual goals can stay hidden until you're ready to reveal them.
Available, Ongoing, and Finished views help players follow their adventures. The Journal holds the briefing and story, while the shared Log lets players record discoveries and events under their character's name.
For larger campaigns, the Quest panel also provides folders, subfolders, drag-and-drop organization, and live search. The compact Nexus sidebar keeps quests accessible while you're on the map.
Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or both
Creating quests requires Augur: Fantasy or Augur: Sci-Fi active. You only need one of them. Make sure Augur Nexus is on version 1.5.5
This walkthrough uses Fantasy and Instant Dungeons, but the same quest tools can connect a missing surveyor, their ship, and a distant world in a Sci-Fi campaign. If you use both content modules, their people and places can be part of the same adventure.
