This is super incomplete but I might be able to pull more files later. Anyway, I found a text document that (for a reason I couldn't even tell you) listed the base teams used by leaders in the league. Like the previous file, this was in the time between 5th Gen being released and it being localized meaning the 5th gen pokemon are listed with their japanese names here. I'll add [notes] as necessary.

It's important to clarify what I mean by 'templates'. At the very start of the league, leader's teams were fixed so that they used the same team for every challenger. As it went on, we realized we could provide a more effective challenge to players if we changed details about the team. For instance Defog was really critical to kill Stealth Rocks for something like the flying leader, but against a challenger with no entry hazards, it's literally a wasted move that something like Gliscor could make very good use. It felt like holding back-- and indeed, we were struggling to always deliver a challenging experience before that.

After the change, we faced a new problem-- getting teams prepared for individual challenge certainly created a more fulfilling experience (and the challengers could change certain aspects to counter-counter-team as well so there was some back and forth), but doing that naturally took time. Some delay between leader battles was expected but when figuring out how to solve difficult problems with a mono (steel type vs blaziken? pray to god metal burst bastiodon is in tact to repel the hjk-- there were some reaches) some leaders started to take too long. So, we started using templates like these to quickly build out of the core strategies and save time in selection. You'll see this in some of the listings below-- those that don't list a full team of Pokemon were probably templates saved with the blank slots to be chosen situationally per each battle.

So, the teams of the time (whatever random time this was):

  • Cain1- Venomoth Nidoking Gengar Weezing Muk Pendoraa
[Pendoraa = Scolipede. this was cain's original team-- it was mainly a baton pass team. the idea was to sleep powder + quiver pass to gengar early, and then do the same to special Nidoking later on for the power house. Weezing and Muk were a defensive core to weaken phys/spe threats enough to eventually sweep. in the end, venomoth's 75% chance was too unreliable to set up from, so this team didn't have a great type]
  • Cain2- Crobat Qwilfish Nidoking Gengar Tentacruel Toxicroak
[later on he adopted a rain dance strategy instead. there were precious few poison types who would significant benefit from rain, but qwilfish among them proved a significant threat with swift swim anyway. the more offensive approach proved more successful with crobat to cover ground types and toxicroak's sucker punch to check many psychics.
when she took over for him, Aya would convert this strategy into a doubles set up (muddy water, blizzard, icy wind were all effective moves there, and weather is always better in multis. she also created a sunny day variant focusing on chlorophyll sweepers instead.]

  • Cal1- Ninetales Blaziken Shandera Typhlosion Rotom Urugumasu
[shandera = chandelure. urugumasu = volcarona. ultimately this was a basic hyper offense set up for singles. rotom made a great check to water types even aside from sun and the others were there to set up and sweep. chandelure was especially useful when it had shadowtag to trap and KO any counters-- i think it was probably scarfed]
  • Cal2- Ninetales Blaziken Shandera Typhlosion Rotom Charizard
[this was a variant on the above, but replaced volcarona with charizard-- specifically belly drum charizard. speed boost blaziken would try to pass a substitute and + speeds to bellyzard and if it succeeded it was basically game over. high risk but high reward.]
  • Cal3- Ninetales Typhlosion Magmortar Blaziken Hihidaruma Charizard
[hihidaruma = darmanitan. this one was a triples HO strategy he devised and charlotte would later perfect. typhlosion took the second spot for sun-eruption spam. darmanitan and blaziken were there to deal with fire types and special walls (otherwise blissey could just laugh through everything) and this charizard was solar powered heatwave spam]

  • Florinia1- Erufuun Jaroda Nattorei Cradily Breloom Sceptile
[erufuun = whimsicott. jaroda = serperior. nattorei = ferrothorn.
cradily and ferrothron were sp.def/def walls respectively, with whimsi leech and forcing and punishing switches. sporepunch breloom was incredibly polarizing. i highkey can't remember what sceptile is doing here. because we were on a simulator we had access to contrary leaf storm serperior from the start and it was terrifying.]
  • Florinia2/3- Erufuun Venusaur Cherrim Doredia Tangrowth Shiftry
[an HO sun team. ALL the chlorophyll. prankster made whimsi a perfect set up. i think this was occasionally run in multis, but in the end she didn't use it very much. laura would run something similar for triples later on.]
  • Florinia2/3- Erufuun Ludicolo Nattorei
[this looks like a base core for rain team to deal with fire types. the other three would be chosen situationally as above]

  • Hardy1- Aerodactyl Tyranitar Cradily Shuckle Aggron Iwaparesu
[iwapresu = crustle. this was his single's team. it saw really moderate success at first. but did have some 200+ turn battles in stall with cradily or shuckle sometimes. rock has many weaknesses so it's actually hard to run a stall team on it.]
  • Hardy2- Solrock Tyranitar Rampardos Lunatone Gigaiasu Rhyperior
[gigaiasu = gigalith. he found much better success with this, using solrock to set up TR and sweep with rock slide spam in doubles. this would also be a triples strategy later on where he took inspiration from some of the mind games i mentioned radomus using later on + wide guard to protect from surf/EQ breaking set up ]
  • Hardy3- Solrock Tyranitar Shuckle Lunatone Gigaiasu Rampardos
[ for the life of me i cannot imagine why he would ever replace rhyperior with fucking shuckle. i don't remember it being used but probably power trick memes were intended.]

  • Julia1- Electrode Electivire Magnezone Rotom Shibirudon Jolteon
[shibirudon = eelektross. electric had some potent ways to cover its weaknesses, but few resists and excelling in little more than speed means the type had limited ways to outpower an opponent anyway. electrode was used as a suicide lead here but that deffo worked much better in 4th gen before the nerf. there was a disturbing lack of explosions otherwise :<]
  • Julia2/3- Raichu Manectric Electivire Zeburaika Magnezone Jolteon
[why is this listed as both 2 and 3???? idk. this version of the team seems oriented to a multi battle discharge spam idea, but she rarely used this. sigmund would later take the concept and use it instead.]

  • Heather1- Yanmega Gyarados Gliscor Barujina Skarmory Salamence
[barujina = mandibuzz. this was a singles stall team. gyarados :< ran a spdef resttalk set for handling ice types. skarmory took rock. gliscor took electric. mandibuzz took fucking everything like a champ. thanks to everything having Roost, this was actually very effective. the team was meant to stall out until salamence could pull off a DD sweep.]
  • Heather2- Barujina Gyarados Honchkrow Salamence Gliscor Dragonite
[an evolution of the previous team using multiscale dragonite as a second sweper. i am currently baffled by in what universe honchkrow needed to be used though.]
  • Heather3- Salamence Togekiss Gyarados Jumpluff Gliscor Barujina
[what. why is there a jumpluff here???? that's even worse than honchkrow and i don't remember her using this at all. why?????
(togekiss was probably an extra special wall for teams oriented that way)
unfortunately it doesn't seem like heather's tailwind triples strat is here. that was the team that took her from entry level up to the highest tier. it was terrifying.]

  • Shelly1- Volbeat Yanmega Scizor Iwarparesu Foretress Heracross
[this is the strategy i would have liked to have implemented in-game in the first place, but the rain set up is okay too. tail glow > baton pass > speed boost yanmega. im pretty sure it was still named heather at the time. her other pokemon would be nicknamed after her friends among challengers. crustle was there as the best anti-fire bug had, and forretress was high-key necessary for spinning.]

  • Shade1-
[why is nothing written here??? why? was it only shade for whom nothing is written????? why is it always shade????????]

  • El1- Ambipom Porygon2 Blissey Snorlax Chirachiino Girafarig
[chiracchino = cinccino. pory2 cosplays skarmory in a skarmbliss pairing here. giarafarig was there as a pitiful defense against psychics. his curselax would be pulling most of the eight... uh literally i guess.]
  • El2- Slaking Linoone/Delcatty/Tabunne Smeargle Porygon2 Snorlax Girafarig
[tabunne = audino. from what i can tell "linoone/delcatty/tabbune" were meant to be 'pick one of the three' and the other 5 were constant. i can only remember audino being used though. this was el's best strat. in doubles, smeargle skill swapped moody onto slaking. it would then skill swap truant back onto an opponent and start spamming dark void to keep the opponents asleep. slaking would stall out as long as possible for moody boosts. the rest of the team was just meant to support slaking until it got to ridiculous power levels. this turned out to be very effective-- unless smeargle could be killed on turn 1.]
  • El3- A Cappella
[WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN IN thE CONtEXT OF POKEMON???]

  • Luna1- Reparadasu Zoroark Spiritomb Barujina Umbreon Zuruzukin
[reparadasu = liepard. zuruzukin = scrafty. manidbuzz and umbreon worked the def/spdef wall core here too. the rest was just a matter of setting up. not really sure why liepard exists despite how cute it is.]
  • Luna2- Houndoom Absol Barujina Kirikizan Warubiaru Crawdaunt
[kirikizan = bisharp. warubiaru = krookodile. another case dependent on set up. i think many of thse teams were not very effective yet... but she was always around mid rank so she certainly didn't do too badly despite it. probably she used them in unexpected ways? hard to remember.]
  • Luna3- Houndoom Absol
[idk why these even mattered tbh]
  • LunaS- Tyranitar Kirikizan Cacturne Warubiaru
[unfortunately tyranitar is not very good in a dark mono and this sand team was pretty esoteric, but it -was- good for countering weather-using challengers, who often otherwise swept through many leaders]

  • Blake1- Abomasnow Cloyster Walrein Froslass Mamoswine Weaville
[this was his singles team. it suffers from much the same issues as grass types, but with more offensive power to back it up. shell smash cloyster was a threat. hail was mostly a formality. ice body stallrein was surprisingly effective back in 4th gen but was increasingly less so as the bar rose with HAs in 5th.]
  • Blake2/3- Abomasnow Froslass Jynx Baibaniraa Furijio Glaceon
[baibanira = vanilluxe. furijio = cryogonal. this was a traditional triples blizzard spam team. i guess he eventually stopped using walrein despite it being his ace, but i don't think that was always the case]

  • Terra1- Hippowdon Doryzuu Sandslash Gliscor Garchomp Gorrugo
[doryuuzu = excadrill. gorrugo = golurk. typical sand rush team. most of the others were there to set up for doryuulose, but sometimes rawrchomp would be saved instead. i think that was why she had a quote for each-- she'd just use whichever one she threw in last in the given battle.]
  • Terra2/3- Torterra Swampert Hippowdon Doryuzuu Garchomp Gorrugo
[a similar concept to the above but ft some starter pokemon with extra types to help deal with ice/grass types. i think swagsire was probably switched in in favor of one of those against water threats.]

  • Kiki- Roopushin Blaziken Breloom Zuruzukin Kojondo Lucario
[roopushin = conkeldur. kojondo = mienshao. this was a pretty straightforward HO team. many of these pokemon have priority attacks or other ways to speed up; i think her focus was to take out anything that would outspeed sporepunch breloom, and used that as her win condition.

  • Radomus- Bronzong Rankurusu Slowking Exeggutor Metagross Gallade
[i talked about this one yesterday after all. rankurusu = reuniclus. the leads were often switched especially with slowking/slowbro according to what the team needed. iirc every single pokemon on here (maybe no gallade and meta?) would have TR. gallade is a little too fast for TR normally but the extra physical attacker was necessary.]

some leaders are not included here. not sure why. it's possible this list was made before they were all revealed?

anyway good golly gosh typing all of that took forever, and here i thought this was going to be a fairly effortless post. hahahaha afk

-- PS
update on the computer situation. i heard back from the repair shop today and it is almost certainly an issue with the motherboard, which has to be replaced. he's ordered a replacement which should be here monday. here's to hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel, but i'm cautious about not expecting more delays >~<

Question about the leaders that you may or may not answer cause it might delve into SPOILERS. So I know a lot of the events that happen in the game, between the leaders themselves, are based on what happened in real life with their league counterparts (Kiki's passing, Cal's falling out with Shelly, Amaria's amnesia, etc.). Well, I guess the first question is are any of these events not true, something you developed solely for Reborn? And are there any that have yet to play out in the game? Also, shout outs to Shade for always keeping his secrets to himself.

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

some of them, i'm sure. a lot of the things that involved team meteor in particular, yes. also it was ultimately just hosted online so many things were limited by physical promixity (though we did have some groups that were clustered together based on how i ended up recruiting).. probably many things were made for the game. too many to list. as for things that have yet to be representd, i think some things might be alluded to in the post game, but the rest of the story line will probably be for resolution of currently established events.

OOOO I KNOW THE ACAPALLA UNDER EL, It's the move Round, gen 5 normal move that if one pokemon in a party used it, other pokemon out in a triple or double battle would use it immediately afterwards with greater power! In gen 6, this move would see buffs under abilities that changed normal type moves to other a different one like Pixilate and aurorus' ability!
