I think the very obvious conclusion for the Elon Musks, Peter Thiels, and even Joe Rogans with their ideal AI robot scenario is that they just want slaves. They want conscious beings that will do whatever they’re told. At the peak of capitalism it always comes back to slavery. What if our labor cost was zero and we didn’t have to treat the workers like people? What if the workers knew their place and couldn’t form unions or say anything bad about us and our horrific practices?

Not in my opinion. I’d certainly never compare my existence to slavery. I think I understand what you’re saying with how much the power of labor has been gutted, specifically in the US. But we do still have that power if we chose to exercise it. Look how afraid the system got during the 2020 uprisings. And how much effort and money they expended to as quickly as possible try and push everyone back to work and back to the status quo. Look how hard they still fight against labor unions and workers rights. If we were slaves there would be no need for these fights, we wouldn’t be allowed to even begin them. The fight between capital and labor is ongoing, labor is just losing at the moment. But it’s far from lost. And we’re far from being literal property.
