Chapter 1 Reboot, Page 18 (Patreon)

This page took a while, even though it really shouldn't have! I got like 75% done in a day and then life happened. 

- my new nephew was born

- my daughter turned 5

- we had CRAZY weather warnings that ended up being nothing but we had cancellations in our schedule and had to rework things...

- I am on a new medication that makes me cranky, sore, and tired all the time. I'm hoping this is just an initial side effect, otherwise I'm going to tell my doctor next month I don't want to take this anymore.

This was an interesting page for me. I took material from two different pages and smooshed it together and that was a challenge! But I really like how it turned out, and of course Lamia is now a part of the story in a larger role than she originally was for Chapter 1. 

As a special treat, I decided to make this available to all tiers. I guess I'm just so excited to have Lamia with us, haha.

Behind The Scenes

I took panels from the previous version and smooshed them together. As you can see, they didn't fit very snuggly originally.

Did some line art and rough dialogue placement. It's still a hot mess.

I corralled them into proper panels and added backgrounds and things started to take shape finally.

Silhouettes, did another take on the dialogue balloons.

Flat colors for both the characters and the backgrounds.

Shading for the characters and backgrounds. I also did spot blacking on this step.

Gradation, textures, patterns... it almost looks done but it's not!

Highlights and effects on the lineart.

Added sound effects and made adjustments elsewhere, added blush, etc. All done! Actually a page I had a lot of fun with once I figured out where everything would go.
