I'm really enjoying Taylor's story! And his adventure has only just begun. 😊

Taylor's mom is the heroine we all need in our lives. She will not take NO for an answer. P.S. Dark mode forever!!!!!11eleven

And so the shenanigans begin... Poor Taylor. She's so screwed. What's going to be first 'oh, you must wear a bra to support your breasts or other girls will notice something strange about you' or 'we're going to a freshers party and you have to come, but you can't wear that...'. Frankly, after all the shit going down this last week or so in the UK - the EHRC just released 'guidance' specifically banning trans people from the correct toilets (and, in 'certain circumstances' from the wrong ones as well) - I really needed this to just take me away to a nice, girly fantasy. So... Thank you. 💜

Wonderful stuff :) And good on Taylor’s mom for seeing the opportunity to have another daughter for a while and doing everything to make it happen. A+ logic chain, babe.

OMG... I ❣️❣️❣️ "her" Mom... she really can't wait when "her" daughter's egg finally cracks hehehe

Maggie Heels

Hey I am not UK citizen, what EHRC means? And why they're forcing trans people to leave excrements in front of toilet doors by not allowing them to enter any of them? I wonder how much time will Taylor need to adapt :)

Ellen Mellor

The EHRC is the Equality and Human Rights Commission which has become more and more transphobic over the last few years. They are following (and building on...) the ruling by the UK Supreme Court ruling that states that (for purposes of the Equality Act 2010), trans women are 'biological' males (and vice versa) so not subject to discrimination under the sex characteristic. Which means that my gender recognition certificate (which says that I am legally female for *all* purposes) is now functionally useless. I think Taylor will adapt far sooner and far better than she let's herself think she is.

Samantha Louise

Oof tbe guilt she’s feeling, definitely going to be a lot of mixed emotions. And what happens when it gets back o her high school whar she did? I’m excited to read more.

SingularCurve

Thats the same kind of BS that the trump executive order that defines men and women as being from conception and what kind of gametes they produce. Except it is worse because the EHRC and UK Supreme court have the backing of law vs the trump order being just on how he wants to enforce laws.

SingularCurve

I enjoyed this chapter. Just a couple of minor grammatical errors I cant really point out due the format of the media.

Loving this new series. The art style is great, and is it my imagination or is Taylor's Mom a little too enthusiastic for Taylor to dress as a girl ??

Gemma

What a confronting challenging situation Taylor is experiencing. I can feel both the anxiety Taylor would be going through around being uncovered, and how that, in turn, could be construed by other girls. What a challenging mixture of different thoughts and feelings Taylor is confronting; the part of him/her finally obtaining and fulfilling his/her long held academic aspirations, and part that is experiencing the ethnical dilemma of taking advantage of passing herself as a girl. I too am surprised by how easily Taylor’s Mum appears to be able to skip past all of these issues and just straight into a simplistic like ‘solution mode,’ and not seeming to connect deeply reflect on these significant issues Taylor has to transverse. It will be interesting to gain more insights into Taylor’s mother, her background and other motivations.

SingularCurve

So I just found out that the EHRC is purposely misreading the Protection Law as Written. Apparently the writers of the UK law intended and wrote their Equality act with the intention to treat trans women and cis women the same, i.e. women are women be they cis or trans. That makes the UK Court actions malicious not just ignorant.

Cute story. Will we get a Chapter 3 once you've gotten more caught up on your 1,001 other projects?

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kris! 😊 Chapter 3 and 4 will be next month.

Gemma

Sorry to hear about all you are having to deal with

Amber Caledonia

Sorry for the downer reply but the "they wouldn't take your scholarship away just because you changed your gender" line hits different these days, sadly

I don’t think that Taylor is a she yet. There’s too much guilt and confusion going on for that to have fully formed in his mind yet. Give it time. His mother’s assumptions in that respect are naive and a bit annoying. She needs to be more realistic about the problems that her son/daughter is facing.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! I agree. I wanted to portray the beginning of Taylor's experience as incredibly fraught. He's been pushed into this situation by a confluence of his physical reality, social pressures, and his mother's desperate solution. And, yeah, I don't see him as having arrived at any kind of internal "she" at all; he's performing a role, and a very uncomfortable one at that - at least for now. I think Mom's actions come from a place of fierce, almost frantic love and a desire to see Taylor achieve his potential despite the incredible unfairness of his situation. She's seen him suffer, seen him hide, and in her mind, this drastic plan is a way to bulldoze through the obstacles. I tried to write her as someone who is perhaps a bit blinded by the end goal (the scholarship, MIT, a better life for Taylor) and maybe doesn't fully grasp the toll this will take on him. She's a problem-solver! 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Yeah... we're definitely in a bit of "idealized" universe here, Amber 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gemma! I really wanted to get into Taylor's head with all those conflicting emotions. He has a lot of them! That anxiety about discovery, mixed with the excitement for his academic future... and of course his struggle with the ethics of the situation (especially given his rule-following nature). With Taylor’s mom, I envisioned her as someone whose pragmatism is a survival mechanism, sharpened by years of single-handedly raising two kids and facing financial hardship. I think her quickness to find a "solution" a desperate, fierce love and a belief that opportunity, once it knocks, must be seized...even if the methods are unconventional. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Crystal! Yeah, I definitely wanted mom's enthusiasm to come across as a little too much at times. A lot of it stems from pure pragmatism mixed with fierce love. She sees a massive roadblock for Taylor (the financial impossibility of MIT) and this crazy plan is the only solution she can grasp. She's totally desperate for him to have the future his talent deserves. But, sure, I also think there's a part of her that misses the connection she had with Wendy, maybe enjoys the 'makeover' aspect a bit, recalling those times. Plus, she genuinely believes experiencing the world from a different perspective (temporarily), might actually be good for Taylor, shake him out of the shell he's built around himself due to the bullying...

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Singular! 💕 I hate typos / grammar errors! Feel free to email me any that you find with a screenshot.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Thomas. I'm really enjoying writing Taylor's story, too. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Samantha! Yeah, that guilt Taylor's carrying will be with him for a while. And it's all tangled up with his body dysphoria, the pressure he feels to fix his family's finances, and this sense of being an imposter in his own skin long before the dress ever came out. 😬

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Maggie! Yeah, mom certainly seemd to enjoy herself with the makeover in this chapter. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

LOL 💕 Mom is fiercely protective of everything except Taylor's masculinity. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ellen. 💕 Sending you massive solidarity from across the pond... unfortunately not much better off here at the moment, as you know. You're definitely picking up on the kind of social pressures Taylor's going to slam into immediately... but this story will definitely be on the 'lighter' side of things.

Crystal Peaches

This is why you're stories are so involving and hit so hard; because there's thought and intelligence and emotion at their core.
