Wow finally finally finally Holly admits that she is a knowing, complicit collaborator. Liam is so on his high horse he’s going to levitate right off the ground. Jill absolutely destroying his supposed pure moral integrity. Also Josie, maybe Connor doesn’t deserve to end up as one of Davis’s toys, but Kendra surely deserved what she got.

I really like this chapter. Im glad that Jill and Holly got to reunite in the preparation room. Jill and Holly got a roll reversal in terms of adapting and acceptance of their rebirth of their new identities. Instead of Holly 'helping' Jill from previous earlier chapters, Jill, who fully accepted her new rebirth, comes to forgive Holly by give her comfort and encouragement despite her past actions and working with Xu for years. They both have an genuine bond and sisterhood that come from different paths from being guys and blooming into the best versions of themselves. This competition is probably going to be the last time that Jill and Holly interact with each other. Also, I like Conner/Pre-Connie got to see Josie again. On the last page, did Josie disguise Conner with women ware, makeover, and enhanced voice spray?

Gemma

Intriguing as always, the suspense continues! I love Jill’s compassion towards Holly. For the first time in a long time I too felt sorry for Holly. Witnessing her remorse and at the same time (through Jill’s words) opening myself to having a deeper understanding and empathy for Holly. Holly’s own inner critic certainly has tormented and punished her enough. I now suspect that Holly is Xu’s shooter motivated by her regrets that may surely lead to this act of defiance. I do hope she survives and that the dreams that Angela holds for them as a couple becomes a reality. I also did love the way Jill stood up to Liam. Challenging the arrogance within Liam’s condescending attitudes towards the other ‘girls’ and also contained within her self absorbed self pity. I think Jill may have got to her and may have opened her eyes to the skewed version she held and the way she looks down on and sees the other feminised former men. I also loved the Carl Jung quote you used in your intro to this episode, a wisdom and depth we can all draw upon. There is so much more to comment on, the images, the alternative plots etc. I look forward here to reading the feedback you will receive from other patreons.

BIG EPISODE, lot's of conversation, & another cliffhanger. It's coming to a head,& I can't wait!

Jessika

"....and now the student is the master" (Jill/Holly) Here comes the night where Davis gets his revenge...on everyone...and the Queendom Falls! But what/who will rise from the ashes???

Jessika

Really looking forward to Emily's reaction to seeing "Connie"! I'm sure Emily was preceptive enough to know Conner cheated on her all these years....probably why she put so much into her career...but also by her gravitating to Josie from the small amount of caring and connection. Will Emily have sympathy, empathy, or revengeful satisfaction seeing "Connie" and run off with Josie...and leave Connie to wander aimlessly trying to find a new life now? Will she go back to the military once the dust settles?...haha

TheVampire

Yes never would it be so fitting. Connor waking up with no twig an berries would be chef's kiss

OMFG... thank God I wasn't at work today... again I cried like a little baby... and I did not start HRT yet... what an update.... and what a........ lovely cliffhanger... CONNIE at last in "full beauty"... so... redemption for her is coming right up... ❣️❣️❣️

Emily is such a good person she will feel horrible for her husband. Connor knows he’s coming back from this better than ever!

Wow! What an amazing episode! We are finally getting to the action and it is getting intense. The drama is high but we are also seeing many things that needed being said and tying up of loose ends and the connecting of dots laid out some time ago. I will be on pins and needles until Part 30 comes out on the 23rd.

Another wonderful episode, where there’s almost too much going on in the dialogue. The exchanges between Holly and Jill at one level appear to be Jill allowing Holly to cleanse her soul of the all-consuming guilt which risks destroying her completely. Jill, compassionate to the end, uses the opportunity to settle accounts with Holly and to lift the burden from her at least in part, so that she can be prepared for what Jill knows is about to happen at the Coming Out. Jill also recognises that Liam is a loose cannon and a rogue element, whose lack of control and refusal to cooperate will jeopardise the rescue mission that they are trying to mount, so she’s doing her very best both to neutralise him and bring him onside. Josie’s freeing of Conner is all very well, but even although he’s been incarcerated for months and has undergone a lot of traumatic surgery, it doesn’t alter the fact that everything we’ve seen from him shows that he’s selfish in the extreme and will only look out for himself. He also therefore poses a serious risk to the overall rescue mission; I sense a disaster in the offing. So many disparate strands…. Masterly plotting, Ms Ahlberg.

I have to admit I do think it is a bit much thinking Connor/Connie can go from post surgery bandages to heals, a wig and lingerie and being tactically competent. Between the psychological trauma and the physical impact, it just seems bit of a stretch. I would have found it a little more believable we he/she further along in the transformation. Plus I think he deserved full GRS. I suspect that is something scheduled but was not yet done.

Tomoa

Connor/Connie is military trained, so I’m guessing they’d be able to handle trauma a little better than the next person. But what’s a good story without a little bit of plot armor?

Robertlouis

None of this is taking into account that before being captured and forcibly transitioned, Conner was amoral, serially unfaithful, and only out for himself. Perhaps his recent traumatic experiences will have had some impact on his behaviour, but they’re taking a huge risk on him regardless.

Emory Ahlberg

Gemma, thank you! 💕 I'm glad you felt compassion for Holly. Her self-hatred is the flip side of her empathy. I think her remorse isn't just about what she's done, but also the realization that she can't find the person she used to be anymore. Liam represents the path Jill didn't take - just pure, unyielding resistance. Jill is arguing that finding moments of peace in a nightmare isn't weakness, it's the ultimate act of defiance. This is actually something HOLLY taught her at the very beginning, if you recall. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tiki! There's definitely a bit of a "role reversal." Jill is holding up a mirror and showing Holly the good person she refuses to see in herself. Their sisterhood is forged in a specific fire that no one else can understand. And yes, that Conner and Josie interaction is a powder keg waiting to explode. It's a partnership of pure, desperate necessity. Josie sees him as a tool, a weapon she needs to complete her mission. There's zero trust there, just a shared objective. It's going to get very messy.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Jade. We've really only seen Holly's mask until now - but I'm a big believer in you are what you do. Holly IS a knowing, complicit collaborator. Were there mitigating circumstances? Yes. Does that absolve her? Well, that's for all of you to judge. 😉 And Liam's high horse is his fortress. His moral purity is the only thing he feels he has left. But I do think it's interesting that Jill's argument is basically how Holly way back in Phase 4 began to teach Jill how to survive / adapt.

Emory Ahlberg

Hm! We know from the flashforwards that Josie tells Emily that Connor "isn't here" when they're down in Privilege Level 0... but maybe she knows where he is.

Emory Ahlberg

Kris, you can feel it, can't you? This is the deep breath before the plunge. Hold on tight. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

CONNIE! I'm so glad you're excited to see her in action. That corset is just a new uniform for a new kind of battlefield lol. As for Liam, Jill's is the poster girl for his own personal hell. Maybe he can't hear her words, only the propaganda... We'll see!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Thomas! That's exactly the feeling I was going for. Buckle up. 🤯

Emory Ahlberg

Maggie, I'm so glad you weren't at work for this one! A bit of an emotional gut-punch. As for Connie... we'll see about redemption... 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Jessika! Great question about Emily's reaction. She's a pragmatist, but she's also a woman who was betrayed. As for him going back to the military... how could he? There's no going back to the life Second Dawn took from him, no matter how this ends.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Diana! 💕 The action is finally here. I felt it was so important to spend the first half of this phase deep inside the characters' heads, setting up all the emotional dominoes. Now, we get to watch them all fall. Fair point about Connie. I guess Josie just has fantastic makeup skills. His body is a wreck, but his military training in compartmentalization is the only thing keeping him upright and tactical... 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! 💕 The conversation between Jill and Holly was important to me. It's Holly's final confession, and Jill's response is a final act of sisterhood, an attempt to give Holly a piece of her own strength. Liam is absolutely a loose canon and Jill is challenging his entire identity. His "unbroken" status is his armor, and she's telling him it's also his cage. She's trying to show him that his definition of victory is just another form of defeat. Do we agree with her? 🤔 And you're 100% right to be deeply suspicious of Connor. Josie is taking a massive gamble but in her mind she's activating an asset, not making a friend. It's a desperate move, though. She's just brought a wolf into the hen house, hoping she can make it bite only the farmer. All these disparate strands are about to get very tangled!

Jessika

I agree...i meant that as a joke....besides, no trans in military now...ugh! On another note...you have put a new chess piece on the board now with Connie. And your "loose cannon" comment opens up the possibility that she could be the one who shoots Xu...and maybe others like Holly. I still think Davis is the likely shooter based on his ego and past experiences...but who knows....will be fun to be surprised!
