I'm writing this from a Hilton in Oklahoma City, which is (Late) Night 3 of my cross-country road trip! Thank you all so much for the well-wishes - my dad and I are having a blast, and I promise my car is holding up better than I am. 😅

So! This was supposed to be a short snapshot. A quick little thing - in and out, fun and done.

Yeah, that didn't happen.

I started writing and Vince grabbed the wheel and wouldn't give it back. That's always fun / annoying. The story is set at one of the last all-male colleges in the country, and their drama club is trying to put on a little play you probably haven't heard of.

Part 2 coming soon. Can't wait to hear what you think! 💕

P.S. Pick your poison! In the attachments, there is a PDF and an EPUB this time!

I’m hooked! The mixture of excitement and trepidation I’m feeling reminds me of when I was at University and coaxed into entering a drag contest. Clearly remembering the feeling of fear I had and need to outwardly display an appropriate level of reluctance to being dressed up as a girl. Hoping that this presentation was convincing enough to hide my nervousness and hiding the bubbling underlying feelings of joy and excitement I was experiencing. This story to me seems to capture these same confusing emotional elements that seem to be beginning to arise in Vince.

Great work, muse Emory. You ALWAYS tirelessly give 100% for your readers. I'm very grateful for this. Please don't exhaust yourself.🥺

Oh boy. This is going to be a lot of fun. Talking of cool, Sabrina is the absolute Queen of Cool, happily quoting Shakespeare every other minute while quietly and determinedly altering Vince with that special patience that only women possess. I love her. The last time I was dragged up was in a remote mountain inn in Bulgaria just south of the border with Croatia during the Yugoslavian civil war in the 1990s. We all took turns and were hideously drunk on some fiendishly strong local raki. It involved dancing to some traditional Bulgarian folk songs while we could hear the Serb planes bombing Croatian positions less than 60 km away. I hope your road trip continues to be fun, but concentrate on that, arrive safely and get installed in your new place. We’re all happy to wait. ❤️ I’ve had some weird adventures in my time! I could write a book…

Thank you! I'll read that in due course. In the meantime, as you're motoring west through Oklahoma City, I assume that (as the song has it) you're getting your kicks on Route 66. On the subject of that song, I wonder whether you could settle something that passes through my mind every time I hear it. The song claims that Oklahoma City is "oh so pretty". I suspect that this is merely because city and pretty rhyme, and Oklahoma City is not especially pretty. So, pretty please, is it pretty? I hear the song from time to time because it's on the MP3 player to which I listen as I wash the dishes. That's the version by Sandie Shaw. The 1960s took me from age 13 to 24 so, by rights, I should love 60s music, but I don't. Sandie Shaw (other than the awful Puppet on a String) is one of the few artists of the era to whom I can listen with pleasure.

Another post from Emory... another diamond found... 💎

Woke up this morning, opened my iPad, found this story, and read it before getting out of bed. What a fantastic way to start the day. I'm sure there's a lot I could say about this story, but that will have to wait until at least two more reads. But my first reaction is that I haven't read anything this good since the opening chapter of The Last Straw. You've got another gem here, Em, and I can't wait for Part 2 and much more beyond that.

I have read enough TG fiction to know when I see a good start on a story. It has a simplicity, and the possibility of chaos, that a good story needs. The fact that I could have ended up in a similar situation might also colour my opinion.

Fun story. Looking forward to part 2

A classic narrative well told. As one would hope with Shakespeare <3 Excellent work as always, Emory! Now keep your eyes on the road, you're almost home :)

I mean, it’s fine? It’s a typical medium sized midwestern city, not great, not terrible

Thank you. That's roughly what I thought. Of course, never having visited the Midwest, or the Americas at all, I don't really know what a typical Midwestern city is like. But I suspect that they are neither hideous nor lovely. Having thought about this, I don't think that I would apply the word 'pretty' to anything larger than a flowering tree.

I read this in bed last night, I enjoyed it, but I found myself wondering how many 'boy plays Juliet' stories there are. Not so long ago, I was looking at Zoe Storm's 'What's in a Name?'. And didn't Fakeminsk's Alex/Blake take the part of Juliet in a school play? Maybe it just seems a lot of Juliets by coincidence because of what I've chanced to read on Patreon. But Shakespeare wrote a lot of other plays. An interesting one is Twelfth Night in which Viola pretends to be male (or, as it would have originally played, a boy playing a girl masquerading as a boy... crumbs!). But I did enjoy it, and I'm just saying...

Finally got a chance to read this and it's so good. Biting my phone until the next part.

What a great start ! Best wishes for your cross-country adventures 🙏 I would have been in the same predicament if that happened at my all-male high school... Except the looking good part 😅

😆 Thank you, Diana! Can't wait for you to read Part 2. I'm writing it now!
