has rufus and steam been fixed as well as surpremieum? and other browsers?

win32

Rufus should be fixed (Vista will need the copying of bcdboot.exe from Windows 7 - which I can't redistribute), as well as Steam. Supermium should be fine, or at least it is on my testing systems.

TheGeekeryGuide32

What kind of graphics card do you have? I have found it likes to it most on nvidia systems and intel systems but I haven't had a chance to test on a amd system

win32

GeForce 1070 Ti, recently upgraded from Quadro K2200. I also have systems with Intel integrated graphics (Sandy Bridge and Skylake).

TheGeekeryGuide32

Alright so a similar system to mine. Maybe I just have bad juju then. I've been having alot of bad luck lately so it wouldn't surprise me. Also, does the previous version need to be Uninstalled or can you do an in place upgrade?

win32

I would uninstall, then reinstall after the previous version has been removed (and a logoff or reboot in between to ensure that no files have been "locked" and thus prevented from being updated).

When using Second System on Windows 10 1809 Discord just refuses to load/render.

win32

LTSC or non-LTSC?

صلاح العازمي

how do i open second system config on vista becuase iot says open with oprtions

win32

Looks like some problems with the 32bit updater stub and some network connectivity problems on the main executable. One of my next objectives is to make Second System fully usable on Windows 10 as opposed to being a "control" version of Second System to facilitate testing of applications for older systems.

Emir Cool

alright well it was on non-ltsc just regular 1809

ashbee

Discord works fine for me on 1809

ashbee

Hey there, i got a question, does gta 5 work with second system on windows 8.1?

win32

I believe it does.

win32

Is ssutil.exe present in %LOCALAPPDATA%\SecondSystem?

Emir Cool

thats odd. for me i have alot of issues when trying to launch even programs which worked before

Emir Cool

wait i think i know why. When installing second system during the 1 files(s) copied. section the fifth one says : The system cannot find the file specified

Latest version of chrome crashes occasionally while browsing. It'll run for 5 minutes and then freeze, and then I'm forced to close and reopen it. Windows 8.1

win32

It is working mostly fine for me on Windows 8.1, however there seems to be an issue with launching Widevine-protected content. I am currently attempting to find the source of that issue. I am running version 152.0.7977.83. The only other major 8.1 Chromium issue I am aware of is instability with the D3D11 video decoder with some GPU drivers.

2LENSFLARE4U

there is also this other problem where discord force closes in the background after installation of Second System 3.2. I put my cursor over the discord icon on the taskbar to click it and it disappears. This never happened with version 3.1 of second system. and there aren't any crash logs.

2026-09-12 22:00 idk, if you noticed my post on version 3.1 (cause it somehow got putted non-chronologically), but 3.2 is still bugged on Windows 8.0 the same way 3.1 was (3.0 is fine) The easiest thing to notice is that cmd.exe fails to launch with it's default the "shell" profile and throws 0xc0000142 error Almost all other programs fail with 0x80000002 error if launched by double-clicking, but they work if I right click > SecondSystem config > RunApp Firefox 140 based Tor-Browser no longer works too, although base Firefox does.

I have determined that the issue is directly caused by the implementation of the RtlGetNtVersionNumbers patch, which was used to allow Rockstar Games Launcher to run on Windows 7 and 8.1. I don't have a good solution to this issue at this time, other than to leave RtlGetNtVersionNumbers unpatched on 8.0.

win32

The latest revision to Second System 3.2 should now run on Windows 8.0.

Hello, sorry for the late update, I did try uninstalling/reinstalling on my Vista machine, but it still quits instantly when run as an admin when trying to install. I did successfully install it on my Windows 7 machine, and I was able to get the latest version of Steam. However, there are some issues: - Background is blank white on logon, attempting to change the background has the selected image fade in, and then it goes black. - Discord does not run, with an error. Additionally, would it be possible to have a global setting to have the default be off, and manually enable it for programs? Similar to how VxKex works. Both for convenience, and I am a little worried in regards to anticheat systems, as I am not sure what it is enabled for, and would prefer to know through manual activation on a select list of programs. Thanks!

win32

Which error is occuring with Discord? Is it the type of error that fades out within a split-second of appearing? Is VxKex and Second System running on the same system simultaneously? And it is possible to set a default profile for applications in Second System, by adding the REG_SZ value named "DefaultProfile" in HKCU\Software\LSC\SecondSystem and setting it to "Passive". You can also view any application that has been run through Second System and its current profile in that key.

I found the Windows 8.1 Chromium/Electron issue and fixed it in an update.

Hello again! im having trouble to run steam on Windows 8.0, it says that "steamwebhelper is not responding", is there any solution to this?

Cathode Ray

Latest version of Chrome and Steam (steam says that it´s not responding, but on the more detail option it talks about the api) on Win8.1 all crashing due to win-crt-runtime APIs "being missing", any way to solve that?

win32

Was the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015/v14 x64 (or newer) runtime installed?

Fun95

I know this sounds stupid but can you run Win10 explorer on Win7 via SecondSystem?

Cathode Ray

Yep, they were all installed, even still gives the error

ginsengfutura

I just updated to the latest version and I'm now running into an issue with Signal Desktop where the program opens and works normally on most of the compatibility modes, but it always closes within 30 seconds. I don't see any error messages. Do you have an idea what could be happening?

win32

Unlikely, due to likely use of UWP/UWP-adjacent functionality that I haven't implemented.

win32

I plan on working on it within the next few weeks.

win32

I found that the problem was caused by a change to Signal's handling of Windows toast notifications. I have made a new update which should fix the problem.

ginsengfutura

Thank you so much for being so responsive. The subscription is money well spent. I will try the update out and check back later.

ginsengfutura

I tried out the latest release and I am still having the issue. I've tried the Default config as well as Win11 and 10/no direct write, but the issue still persists. Signal works fine but closes within about a minute every time it is opened.

win32

I have made another update which should fix that secondary issue.

ginsengfutura

Thanks again. It appears to be stable again now.

Jawwad Noaman

Steam doesnt install it keeps cheking for updates

win32

Which version of Windows is it?

win32

It should be fixed now.

Windows media center doesn't launch on Vista x64 after Second system

2LENSFLARE4U

Disable second system on media centers .exe file

BennyGoop

It applies the "Passive" profile to everything by default and the DefaultProfile registry setting is ignored, meaning there's no way to apply this globally any longer. Please add an option to enable it globally for installers that extract and launch other applications.
