I'm watching the next one tomorrow! For the rest of the month I'm thinkin Total Recall and Minority Report!

*Note* I've been leaving the picture unblurred but that's making me increasingly nervous with Vimeo so I will be switching back to some blur in the watch alongs!

for me, the most memorable part of this film is "the look"--it was WAY b4 its time, every time you watch Batman, the dark knight, and every rainy dark, atmospheric film that came after--this is where the inspiration all came from.

Also, Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford never worked together again, apparently that hated each other and almost came to blows on set

Christopher Mitchell

Blade Runner was a good movie but I preferred the soundtrack by vangelis (just my opinion). The best scene for me is when Rutger Hauer makes his "tears in the rain" speech where at the end of it he says "time to die", bows nis head and that's that. This was one of Rutger's best performances

You are correct; the Final Cut was scanned at 8k and remastered for 4k . It looks the best of all the versions.

The special effects were absolutely amazing for this film back in 1982

Dekard is a human...or a replicant. After 40 years, the best part about that sentence is no one needs to explain what a replicant is. What is a munchkin, a droid, a hobbit? Explanations are no longer necessary. The Final Cut originally came with a five disc DVD edition. Why? My favorite contribution was the restoration of the Ford narration in his best Sam Spade/Philip Marlowe neo-noir delivery. I always loved the atmosphere of the film noir setup, paired with the sci-fi bend.

I recommend the sequel.

The hair looks great as usual, and so do the fingernails. The funny thing about the term blade runner, it does not appear anywhere in the book Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep. I'm confused. Why "retire" the replicants if they only live for 4 years? Maybe it's because they don't want the replicants doing what they tried to do in this movie. I had to look up what $28 million is in today dollars and turns out it's $80 million. Sad to hear the blurred movies are coming back, but oh well, it is what it is.

Vangelis died recently. He also did the score for Chariots of Fire. His music is fantastic. I have "Blade Runner Blues" on my ipod.

Since this story is an adaptation of a novel that Scott did not write, in which it is confirmed he is human, I'm okay with interpreting it either way.

I know it's been forever since you posted this, but I'm going through the archives - this is my favorite movie, so I'm excited to see you watching it; however, I just wanted to say that your Adderall comment made my day. I hope you don't mind me mentioning this - I was diagnosed late November last year, and I keep finding, to my delight, that a lot of the people whose content I enjoy, also have ADHD. So: Thank you for sharing that! LOVE the reaction. <3

It's been a STRUGGLE!! I'm trying to be super open about it. I can barely function some days 😅 but glad I'm not alone also!
