Guys I watched an extended cut of Sin City and the order was That Yellow Bastard, The Customer is Always Right, The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill -- was this how you watched it when you saw? Idk what to do, this seems to be an odd order!! But I want to post it here as I saw it, out of order would be weird for the chronology of the watch

Oh man! I wish you had started with the theatrical cut. The extended recut version only adds value if you've seen the original. The order is Customer is Always Right part 1, Yellow Bastard part 1, Hard Goodbye, Big Fat Kill, Yellow Bastard part 2, Customer is Always Right part 2. Watching it this way, you get to see the storylines intersect, and it's so much more fun.

The theatrical version is the best version for a first watch. Though a reaction to the extended cut would be fun. I'm down. You should definitely watch the theatrical as well, though.

I don't know. I have the extended version on vudu and it's a different order than that. I think it started as a dvd extra where you could watch the full stories individually. It's more for people that read the comic books to see them in full. The theatrical version has them sort of intercut.

shanellericcio

this feels the most fun, but I had no idea. When I found it on vudu it was 20 min shorter and a different order than what I saw, but no part 1 or part 2 or anything

Shawn Goforth

Yeah, the blu-ray edition comes with both versions, so it's possible to watch along with you either way.

The normal cut it’s all kinda mixed up and edited together. It’s based on several comics so that cut is actually those comics separated.

I haven't seen this since it was in the theater and didn't know there were different cuts/edits floating around out there, or else I'd have warned you. As a general rule, for reactions I'd always choose the theatrical cut unless people are very vocal about you screening a specific version.

I always go with theatrical cut. Who's got time for all that other BS?!

The first time I saw sin city it was the theatrical version, it would be nice to see the extended version of it but if you decide to post the theatrical version shanelle then that's fine with me. Elijah woods character was a cocky and creepy little s**t. The film being done in black and white with flashes of color here and there and certain things in all color was absolutely fantastic.

Christopher Mitchell

Shanelle, just to let you know that the edited version of gangs of new York on YouTube isn't working. On screen it says "this video is private". Now I've already seen the full length version on your patreon so it doesn't bother me but it's people who want to see it but can't because of YouTube. It might be fine tomorrow I don't know or it might just be my end I don't know but I just thought I would give you a heads up.

As stated above, an extended cut will sometimes actually be detrimental for someone who has never seen the theatrical cut. Watchmen Ultimate Cut should never be watched if one hasn’t seen the theatrical cut. (And frankly I would recommend the Director’s Cut over the theatrical for a first-time viewing.) Other exceptions (in my opinion) would be the lord of the rings films. I never recommend anyone to watch the theatrical cuts ever. Also any of James Cameron’s “Special Edition” releases (The Abyss, Terminator 2, Aliens). All of those are worth watching for a first-time viewing rather than the theatrical.

Yeah, I got a push notification from YouTube that it was live, but by the time I tried to watch it was already gone/hidden. I imagine there was a copyright claim or something (when ISN'T there one?).

Paul Cox

Movies are regularly too long already. Why would you willingly want an even longer version of almost anything? One personal caveat: Blade Runner's Final Cut. The changes actually made it a more cohesive film.

Christopher Mitchell

Probably Paul, as I said I've seen it so it doesn't bother me and I was only thinking of people who aren't on patreon but catch it on YouTube. Their fools those YouTube people behind the copyright claims.

also don’t feel too bad about it. Same thing happened to the Cinebinge homies. People recommended the “extended cut” or whatever on reddit. I hope you liked the movie’s unique style tho. The whole thing was made in Robert Rodriguez’s garage basically. He hung out with George Lucas during the prequels, moved to digital film making an first experimented with Once Upon a Time in Mexico, a pretty fun little action movie with Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp. And then SpyKids 3D. Those movies made SO MUCH MONEY. Like OUATIM cost 3 mil to make and made 97mil. So he took all that money and pumped it into Sin City and this is what we got. Sadly the sequel is pretty terrible. Most of the good Sin City comics were adapted in the first movie so the sequel is trying to make the weaker stories bigger and it feels forced. It also came way too late.

This is helpful, im SUPER bummed, I think it took away a lot from the experience. But I'm going to make it good for Youtube

COPYRIGHT!! idk if im getting sloppy or what but the last two weeks have been pretty annoying with censorship and copyright. Im sorry working on getting it back

For whatever reason the extended edited cut was recommended to Cinebinge. I don't understand why. I would recommend when you get a chance to go back and check out the theatrical cut, it's way better. There was a reason it was done that way in the theactrical cut. The Extended edit kinda removes some of the wow factor if you ask me.
