Absolutely love this movie, and Danny DeVito is hilarious in this. I had a friend who used to call me up and when I answered the phone he'd just say "guess who died last night" in that raspy ass voice 😂

Holly

Our good YouTuber friend LegalEagle did a review of this movie and gave it an A grade for legal realism.

"And Justice For All", Cassie! A young Al Pacino. Good lawyer movie. I think you'll like it.

Stephen Last

I read the book after watching the movie. The copy I read was published after the movie and the cover had a scene from the book. John Grisham had a forward in it. I cannot remember the exact details and I don't have the copy anymore, but a character in the book, very coincidentally had the same name as an actual law professor. He cameoed as the law professor in the movie. Not 100% on the details

Hollis Hamilton

So happy that you watched this movie. Of all the Grisham movies, I always thought this was the one best suited for you. More courtroom, less thriller, plus a little romance.

Mike Jenson

The Devils Advocate is a good Spookitober courtroom movie : )

Chris Thom

Second that suggestion majorly.

Kristin

I so want her to watch this!!

Darren Harrison

It’s been a long time since I watched this, but I remember enjoying it. Looking forward to seeing it through Cassie’s eyes

Mario C

Very happy Cassie got to watch this one as i knew she would enjoy it. My favorite part was with Randy Travis playing the irate juror. Too good.

Thoko

I would love to see Cassie react to "The Talented My Ripley" which is another Matt Damon film

Stranger2Reality

"Jon Voight always plays such an evil person." He's a terrible person in real life as well, as he supports people who are now eliminating cancer research, just like in this movie. Life imitating art. If you're looking for more Danny DeVito movies, I'd recommend a couple he did with Gene Hackman: Get Shorty (1995) and Heist (2001).

Mike Lemon

It's rare to see the crazies in the wild. Get off bluesky and go outside. "Patreon Rules: "Most of these go without saying, but: "3. No religious or political discussion. This is not a place to discuss politics or religion. This is a place to discuss movies and shows that you love (or don't love)." Remember to take your mask off when you burn a Tesla, no need to be a coward about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Useful_idiot

Mitch M

If you decide to do a poll for the late Val Kilmer to watch one for him, I'd love to see Thunderheart on it. Terrific thriller/mystery set on a reservation.

Cole Jennett

Way to take the high road, Mike.

Stranger2Reality

Ironic that Mike's comment is infinitely more political than mine was.

Andrew Rose

I agree with the message Mike, not the delivery. This is absolutely no place to discuss/argue politics and that part is spot on. However, when you respond with political commentary and make disparaging personal remarks you have lost the plot sir. Do better

Mike Lemon

@Andrew- You may be right. While warranted for calling 100,000,000+ Americans "terrible" for who they support, the Tesla comment may have gone too far in this context.

Cassie Courtroom dramas: In The Name of the Father (1993) Daniel Day Lewis, Emma Thompson. 1970s Northern Ireland. True Story. 7 Oscar nominations. Sleepers (1996) Brad Pitt, Jason Patric, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, Minnie Driver. True Story. All star cast.

2nd!!!

Ruben Cifuentez

Yes mam. You have got to watch The Outsiders!

Stranger2Reality

For the record, Mike, I said Jon Voight was a terrible person (which he is), I didn't say 100+ million people were terrible. You made that assumption all on your own, and you know what they say about what happens when you assume something. It's OK though, it happens. No worries 👍

Happy Hanukkah

S2R, if you're already going to bring politics into this, you could at least have the courage of your convictions and not be smugly disingenuous. In retrospect, perhaps Mike's last sentence was actually apropos.

Happy Hanukkah

Without delving into the character, he is of mixed Sioux heritage.

Stranger2Reality

You think I believe over 100 million people are "terrible"? I don't. I don't think most people who voted the way they did were doing it because they wanted to see all these cuts. I think most just wanted cheaper eggs, and that doesn't make them terrible. Voight though, he's a proud spokesperson for this stuff, so yeah, he's a terrible person. There's others as well, but not 100 million of them like Mike was assuming I was saying. I mean, am I wrong? Aren't people who are in favor of cutting medical research into stuff like curing cancer terrible people? That's not even a political statement, IMO, that's just self evident. If someone is in favor of ending cancer research, then I don't want to know them, cause I think that qualifies as "terrible". My guess is Mike himself isn't in favor of ending cancer research, which is why my comment wasn't directed at him or any other broad selection of people. I was just pointing out what I thought was a coincidence between the character Voight played here and who he actually is. Mike decided to go crazy over that, but again, that was all based on his assumption. And yours too, apparently.

Happy Hanukkah

Voight is a proud spokesperson for cutting medical research into curing cancer? Can you provide me with a link to any of these statements he so proudly made?

Stranger2Reality

My exact quote was "he supports people who are now eliminating cancer research". If you haven't heard about the cuts to medical research, I suggest you Google it. If you haven't heard who's responsible for those cuts, I suggest you Google it. If you want to know what Voight thinks about those people and if he's publicly supported them, I suggest you Google it. These things are not classified secrets, this is all right out in the open, and it's not my responsibility to educate you. I wasn't looking to have a political discussion with any of this. In this movie he played someone who supported people who were in favor of cutting off funding for cancer treatments, and he's doing the same thing in real life. To me that would be no different than Cassie saying "weird how Woody Allen always plays a kinda creep towards young women and girls in his movies" and pointing out that he's like that in real life too. You and Mike have turned this into a big political debate, which we're not supposed to have here. As such I'm done discussing this. But in the future, if you're ever confused about something someone says online, rather than making a bunch of assumptions about them, you can always Google it to see what they're referring to. Have a good day.

Happy Hanukkah

Ah. So you have no reason to believe that Voight actually supports this policy (whatever it actually is). You are labeling him an evil and terrible person solely because he supports Trump et al, who are responsible for this policy. But upon receiving some backlash, you claim that, Heavens to Betsy, you never meant to imply that Trump supporters are evil and terrible people. I'd chalk this up to a lack of rigorous thinking on your part, but your repeated smug potshots lead me to qualify this as gaslighting.

JB

Is the YouTube video blocked for anyone else? Or maybe it's just an EU thing.

Mike Lemon

I don't see it on YT and others are saying it's gone too, but the video in the post seems to be working.

Clarence Newman

I don’t know. Is she ready for Tom Cruise’s original teeth?

Tim C

Like Matt Diamond he was good in Rounders, and the Jason Borne Compilation.
