I'm Polling what to Poll. Help me Pollease!

Comments

Wes

Not going to fall for the banana in the tailpipe 😂🙏

Clarence Newman

Were you eavesdropping!!?? We were JUST talking about this!

Steve Arnold

Gee, what a difficult choice…

Rosario Cicero

I voted go for Beverly Hills Cop but if real events win I hope she watches Gandhi

Cole Jennett

Before anyone dismisses the rewatch poll because it’s “a rewatch”, consider that she has only seen some movies like Forrest Gump, or Good Will Hunting once, and likely has no memory of it (we know Cassie😉). That would be great for the channel and for us!

Flounder

Based on true events —-> The Disaster Artist

Mike McLaughlin

If true events.. movie.. PT-109... it is the story of President John F. Kennedy's heroic actions in WWII, South Pacific..

Story Archer

Beverly Hills Cop, 100%. Both of them.

Daniel Turbyfill

I really think that there should be a rewatch of Galaxy Quest, since Cassie has now seen Star Trek.

2-Can

NO! to any re-watch.

Omar

Lmao the last option, done 👍🏽

Darren Harrison

Can we vote for more than one please. I really want Cassie to watch “Beverly Hills Cop” but also love disaster movies

Clarence Newman

The Actor Poll should be "Paul Newman & Steve McQueen," None of your Meryl Streep. She's won too much already.

Aaron Mann

Cassie, if True Events wins, please consider adding AMISTAD to the poll. It'll check off many different boxes for you. Courtroom drama, Spielberg directed, based on a true event, historical drama, and it has many recognizable actors who you love (Freeman, McConaughey, Hopkins, etc)

Dean Holt

All of you best vote for 80s sci-fi 😂. or if it loses, Cassie just watch The Last StarFighter & Beverly Hills Cop regardless 🤞

Zane From Canada

Just watch Beverly Hills Cop. Haha I like it. 😁 2 and 3 would need to be included afterwards Disaster movie polls suggestions: Towering Inferno, The Core, Volcano, Day After Tomorrow.

Clarence Newman

Why can we only vote on one of these? And where's the "Just watch Towering Inferno" poll?

Adam Doyle

What about a Poll for Pollak, with the best Kevin Pollak movie.

MikeLL

I'm really torn with this one. I'm tempted by the just watch Beverly Hills Cop option, as I know that will be a very fun watch. But then again, why does this have to be in a poll? Just watch Beverly Hills Cop! Shouldn't need any input from me/us to make this decision. I went with the Actors Poll. This may be one of the ways to get a movie that I really want watched to be seen. Of course I want an option like Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, and John Wayne to be in there. Plus some unseen ones like James Cagney. I think I'll have slim hopes for a win from this, but there is always hope, right? Right? Disaster Poll would be very welcome, but of course The Towering Inferno would not win, it would be a more modern (and thus to me, much less interesting) disaster flick. Something like Deepwater Horizon would win, which is an OK movie, but it ain't no Towering Inferno, is it?

Jake McNulty

These are all great ideas for polls Cassie, and I'd be happy to vote for all of them. But since it's been No.1 on the app for well over a year now it may finally be time for you and Carly to watch "Beverly Hills Cop" now. P.S. I know I've already suggested this a number of times before, but would you consider watching the No.1 film on the app each month? Edit: Since "Beverly Hills Cop" seems to be the sure winner at the moment, I've decided to switch my vote to "Rewatch poll".

Joe J

Thank you Cassie. Every month we should vote on a new poll.

Henry Graham

Voting for the "Based on true events" poll as a way to again push The Insider (1999).

Dean Holt

Clarence, It’s in the same place as just watch The Last StarFighter 😂

Richard Maurer

No martial arts or classic horror polls? I guess we did those once and never need to do them again. Whatever.

Kent

I just worry after all this time, Beverly Hills Cop has just been overhyped for her. The couple of Eddie Murphy movies she has seen have gotten pretty "meh" to "okay" reactions. I suppose it will be good to just get it out of the #1 spot at least.

Mark White

Ok Clarence, what the hell?! You ask questions you get multiple responses! You talk up polls on FAQ and we get a poll! If we get “Cannonball run” in the next few weeks, you definitely have a direct line to Cassie’s thoughts! 😆

Big Lazy Dragon

Changed my vote to based on true events. Cassie hasn't seen 'Midway'(1976) or 'Tora! Tora! Tora!'(1970) yet, and both of those are not only based on true events, but are as close to historically accurate as you can get.

Bill W

Based on true events- brilliant, but grossly neglected films: In The Name of the Father (1993) Daniel Day Lewis, Emma Thompson Mississippi Burning (1988) Gene Hackman, Willem Dafoe Sleepers (1996) Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Kevin Bacon

Clarence Newman

Ain't nobody dismissing the Rewatch poll. If any naysayers slip in, they should be dismissed for dismissing. To clarify, though, we're not talking about rewatches of films that have already been reacted to. It's the few great movies (Cuckoo's Nest, Forrest Gump, Unstoppable etc) that Cassie hurt us all by callously watching pre-channel.

JohnnyUtah

Finally "Just watch Beverly Hills Cop" 😅

Richard Maurer

That doesn’t convince me to want a re-watch poll.

Randy Schuh

My favorites are true stories and classics.

Mark White

CASSIE, Can we just have all the polls? Pleaseeeee?! ❤️

Cole Jennett

lol, Richard, she’d have to have seen one of your movies before for it to be a rewatch😂

Erik Locquiao

A rewatch of SIGNS with Carly would be fun

Mark White

Great movies Bill, I would love to see “The Insider” on a true events poll as well.

Marcelo

“Society of the Snow” can be under based on true events or disaster movies

Richard Maurer

They did LotR already. I can’t think of anything else I would want to see a re-watch to.

Joe J

I think the inclusion of Beverly Hills Cop is a waste of a voting slot. Can't Cassie just watch it as a PPoTM?

Andrew R

This poll had me disappointed, until I saw the last option

Cole Jennett

Agreed, she should do 1 or 2 of these a month

Mark White

+1 for “The Insider

Chris Thom

The time is right for Pollception Part Deux. Good work.

Cole Jennett

I think she secretly wants rewatches with the title of this post because you can bet Inception would be on there

Cole Jennett

My take on the rewatch would be for a rewatch of something that isn’t already on the channel, but that’s just me🤷‍♂️

Chris Thom

And Bridge of Spies.

TJ

I've been waiting for her to see Sleepers.

Doc Larry/old geezer

I chose true stories because I find them very interesting on how they are interpreted through the film. Just watch, Beverly Hills cop was hysterical . Very witty choice on your list. I like all three of Beverly Hill cop movies even though they are formula and predictable however funny and exciting.

Above Average Dave

Agree 100% about OUT OF AFRICA - straight-up Cassie-Carly movie. However, Newman is much better in HOMBRE, THE VERDICT, COOL HAND LUKE and NOBODY'S FOOL. And, sorry, but the multiverse will collapse on us all if one (or even two) doesn't watch THE HUSTLER before THE COLOR OF MONEY. PS: I still contend that Tom Cruise's character in COLLATERAL is Vince from C-O-M. The hair is the tip-off.

Chris Thom

Didn't see that. I'm changing my vote.

Richard Maurer

I guess we’re watching BHC. At least I won’t have to look at it anymore on the Popcorn Requests list. It’s a decent comedy but way overrated. Shouldn’t have ever made #1 on the PR list - imo

Dissonant Bard

No more Poll-y Shore? 😁 I will see myself out

Joe J

No re-watches please!

Above Average Dave

Also, by her own admission, Carly cannot remember movies she's seen even a month ago. 🤣

Mark White

Yeah, I surprised “The day after tomorrow” hasn’t got on PiB already, I would put it in there with the other often watched usual disaster stuff like Independence Day, Deep Impact, etc

Chris Thom

Jessica Biel was so brave to relive her trauma for our viewing pleasure.

Clarence Newman

Word! Cassie! Stop worrying that we'll all leave you if you watch Beverly Hills Cop. I promise to stay at least until the weekend.

Cole Jennett

+1 for Sleepers until she watches it

Macabre Movie Maniac

As good as the original is i actually prefer the 2003 version. Darker, more demented.

John Liebling

I would add, for next Pollease...Rogers and Hammerstein poll, Gene Kelly Poll, and Fred Astaire Poll - Musicals as a separate category compared to only actors. Or Academy nominated films from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s.

Clarence Newman

Hang in there, Richard. Jackie Chan might win The Actor poll.

VYV77

Went with the actors poll. Just have to see her reactions to "The Hustler" 1961 (Newman), or "Defending Your Life" 1991 (Streep).

Mark White

Ah man, my Guilty pleasures poll idea isn’t on here! Just kidding! 😆 Cassie, these are great. Thanks for the polls. What ever wins I hope we get some good fun movies for you. If you get the 80’s sci-if poll, please put on the Disney classic of “Flight of the Navigator”

Brian's Dog

I've watched Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones a few times with your reaction at this point, so I can understand you wanting to do some re-watches yourself. That said, I chose Disaster Movies.

Clarence Newman

I believe mine has more people with their heads on fire.

Above Average Dave

I'm warming to the idea of rewatches. I know every time I see ARMY OF DARKNESS again, I learn something new about myself, life decisions, fighting Deadites and S-Mart.

Ike

Based on True Events Poll: FIRST MAN (2018) Ryan Gosling,, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke

Chris Thom

Go home and think about what you did.

Gray

Kinda wish it was just solid polls and not the last option, Beverly Hill Cop has been talked up so much will it even go down that well. True Events was my pick.

Cole Jennett

Vote for watches than Mark, because she’s seen it.

Clarence Newman

Shush Mark. Me and Cassie are sharing a pizza.

Clarence Newman

What Cole said, Richard. Try to keep up.

Canadianant

I can't post a picture so I'll just say picture Eddie Murphy making that classic ok sign .

MikeLL

Having Cassie watch an Astaire/Rogers film would be a dream come true.

My_Cousin_Mose

I'd like to see them rewatch Signs eventually. They've both said that this was the scariest movie they had ever seen before the channel and it gave them nightmares. I imagine they will laugh at their former selves.

Jennifer Medicus

I was going to pick Beverly Hills Cop because it makes me laugh every time I watch it but in reality I prefer 80s sci fi...though not sure what's on that list. I just like sci fi. And 80s. I would really love more classic/oldies. I know they don't bring in the views but so few channels do any and they're some of the best stuff out there.

Chris Thom

Sleepers was a true story??

MikeLL

I think it will be a great watch. I'm sure both Cassie and Carly will enjoy it.

Richard Maurer

By all means let’s have her re-watch some movie that’s already been watched by her and 100 other reactors. Because we all just want to see that same half a dozen movies over and over and over again /s

Chris Thom

But she just watched it. (kidding)

Shawn Kildal

The Pianist comes immediately to mind on movies based on true events

Bill W

Strongly Agree!!

Clarence Newman

"'Ello, my name is Seeerghhe. And 'ow my I 'elp you to-die?"

Chris Thom

It's hiding behind the Best Stallone/Dolly Parton Collaborations Poll.

Cole Jennett

Some of us are also here for Cassie’s enjoyment not just our own. Who cares what any other reactor has reacted to? What does that have to do with anything?

Macabre Movie Maniac

I was 21 at the time and my brother was 18. We saw that movie the night it came out. Left the theatre and gave each other high fives in the parking lot saying, "hell f*cking yes!!"

Clarence Newman

Don't worry, Gray. We will shame the little minx into watching the runner-up too.

Bill W

Are you're proud of yourself? 🤣

Brian Lowery

Given Cassie’s love for franchises like Lethal Weapon, I think Beverly Hills Cop will be right up her alley. Might even be a Cassie and Carly watch once Carly is on the other side of her wedding plans and such.

Macabre Movie Maniac

And then there's poor Cassie, goes to the theatre to see it at 15 years old and leaves just 20 minutes into the movie 🤣🤣

Clarence Newman

Mods. Please remove these inappropriate comments.

Chris Thom

Plus Bruce Campbell is always a lesson on natural charisma.

Joe J

Anything pre-70 is a hard sell to the voting patrons.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, but you know if he did it would be for one of his US made garbage films. I only care about his Chinese martial arts films.

Cole Jennett

Well don’t forget to switch if it gets tight and you miss out on both ends.

Bill W

Strongly agree. No rewatches for any reason.

Celeste McAllister🍓

True events poll! 'TORA TORA TORA' before the last Pearl Harbor vet has passed....

Clarence Newman

What Richard said. I knew he was on our side.

Cole Jennett

Yes, it’s a crime that due to recency bias (in my opinion😉) she says she likes Star Trek over Star Wars. She needs to watch the OG trilogy again some time down the road. Even if just with her kids

J

Would love to see a rewatch of SPR with Carly

Cole Jennett

Agreed, they (at least Cassie) will see that it’s not that scary and just a really good movie

Bill W

I agree Richard. For the greater good of the reactorverse, lets get some movies that haven't been watched in the algorithm.

Cole Jennett

@chris thom, the writer of the movie based “Shakes” on himself

Clarence Newman

Negative. No sensible voter would pick anything but Police Story (1985). Cannonball Run maybe......

Shawn Kildal

Or a first watch of The Crazies

Bill W

Beverly Hills Cop pulled into the lead? Come on. 🙄 BHC 1 yes, but not 2 or 3. 2 is just ok. 3 is terrible.

Patrick

Oof the re-watchers are back chirping again lol 🤣 I'll vote for re-watches once we get the number under 2000 of the 6000 movies requested. Some of us only have 20-30 years of life left to get our favorite film reacted to. Re-watches will put us 130 years farther out...

Roger Banks

Arrg, I’m interested to see a reaction to Out Of Africa (Meryl Streep) and Zulu (Based on events) but I punted and voted for Beverly Hills Cop.

Shawn Kildal

With the possible reopening of Alcatraz, how about Escape From Alcatraz for movies based on true events

Joe J

BHC she can just watch anytime, why waste a valuable slot for one movie.

Mike Lemon

And Murder in the First, also loosely based on true events.

TechJJ

How about polls for sports drama, martial arts, Star Trek series, musicals, super heros, action/comedy?

Clarence Newman

Can we put Jessica Biel on a pole, please?

Chris Thom

She's definitely been sleeping on that. Farley deserves better.

Richard Maurer

Cole - Apparently quite a few people care, considering how reaction views have been going on YT lately.

Joe J

I suggested the 80s sci-fi poll, happy she included it. I hope we can get 50s & 60s also, but pre-70 films are just a harder sell to voting patrons.

Shad Kanyak

As a resident of Metro Detroit, I’m required by law to choose Beverly Hills Cop.

Richard Maurer

I still don’t care Clarence - rewatches are mostly boring.

Okie_KBCS

We gotta finish the matrix series!!

Tim Weaver

I went true events as it's a fave genre.. but how in the heck have u not seen Beverly Hills cop were u raised in a Town with no video rentals?

Joe J

Just watch BHC, geez she wastes a valuable slot that could have been used for Cannonball Run.😂

Kent Theaker

Paul Newman by all means. I've been wanting to see THE VERDICT on here every time the courtroom polls come along. HUD, COOL HAND LUKE, HARPER...maybe even THE TOWERING INFERNO (brought to you by the producer behind THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE). There are turkeys too, so be careful. Then, if you're liking Paul and want to learn more, there's THE LAST MOVIE STARS documentary series about the turbulent and fascinating life he led with his wife, Joanne Woodward.

Mike Lemon

She hasn't ever seen the OG trilogy, only the "special editions". If she does rewatch Star Wars/Empire/Jedi (and I'm not advocating for it), she should watch the deapecialized or 4k77 versions.

Chad Laurence

Dang ppl have terrible taste (for the most part, according to these poll numbers) lol.

Chris Thom

Agree. What the fetch.

Chris Thom

You did already get Robocop.

Mike Lemon

"...Jessica Biel on a pole,.." No, Clarence. She isn't that kind of person (that I know of).

Just Plain Bob

Re-watches suck. I love LOTR, but even those re-watches were booooooooring. I have zero interest in them. Might as well do a poll on “Which reactor channel will you start watching instead of this one if Cassie keeps doing rewatches?” Only thing worse than re-watches are reactions to rom-coms.

Clarence Newman

As True Events looks like it's going to be runner-up (and you have to watch the runner-up too because Beverly Hills Cop is the dictionary definition of a ringer!), I need to point out that Towering Inferno is loosely based on a true-ish story that may have happened and should therefore be included.

Richard Maurer

Mods, please remove this inappropriate Clarence.

Mike Lemon

True events? Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995)! Can it get to 50 this time?

Richard Maurer

I really hope not, talk about unnecessary sequels.

Shad Kanyak

Which was shot in Texas. At least BHC starts legitimately in Detroit each time.

Just Plain Bob

Agree 100%. Re-watches suck. The only thing worse is reactions to rom-coms.

Joe J

Tim, she basically never watched any pre-90 movies before the channel. 80s was old to her.

Joe J

These are coming. We want a Pollception every month.

Robert Jewell

And def watch BHC, but the sequels are total dramhail

Just Plain Bob

Agree 100%. It’s a very “meh” kinda movie. I much prefer “48 Hrs” for Eddie Murphy. BHC Eddie Murphy is Eddie Murphy pasteurized and pre-digested for your comfort.

Gray

It's a crumbling relic can't see it being reopen and that was one of the plot points in the film the fact it was falling apart and that was back in the 60's. Cracking film though would be great reaction.

Rosario

The Beverly Hills Cop movie reactions would be so good.. well, at least for the first two. Okay, maybe the third one as well but definitely not the fourth one;)

Joe J

I don't have 20-30 years, lol. I hate re-watches also.

Scott

I think BHC2 was actually the best out of all the movies

Richard Maurer

Joe J - I voted for the Sci-Fi poll, even though I looked at the other choices and knew it wouldn’t win.

Jennifer Medicus

I'm quite happy to go even older. I'll just have to hope to win something so I can make her watch Philadelphia Story or The Trouble with Harry. Or maybe someday I'll meet her and make her do an all day marathon for all the Cary Grant she hasn't gotten to yet.

bknsty14

True events. Still waiting on the “Sleepers” reaction. I’ll take Beverly Hills Cop, too. Great movie.

Chris Thom

Essential viewing. Even if some might find it to be boring as fetch.

Richard Maurer

JP Bob - disagree about LotR - it’s the exception to the rule. Agree with pretty much everything else though.

Just Plain Bob

Re-watches suck. They’re boring. As for the “some of us are here for Cassie’s enjoyment”, who cares? I’ve watched this increasingly become a thing. I like Cassie’s reactions; we all do. But I’m also a CUSTOMER. I don’t go to some locally owned store and just give them cash because I like them and they seem like nice folks.

Joe J

And to think that Cassie picked that Pauly movie herself...be afraid, be very afraid, Lol.

George C

Hi Cassie, if True Events wins, please add Charlie Wilson’s War to the poll. Set in the 80s, it’s a wild true story about how a congressman, a socialite, and a CIA agent pulled off a secret Cold War op. It’s smart, funny, and stacked with stars - Tom Hanks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julia Roberts, and Amy Adams…also now free on YouTube.

Robert Jewell

Glad you enjoyed it, but way too much unnecessary Eddie improv with a thin plotline more interested in connecting explosions than characters.

Laura Thornley

Touch choice. I do like me some 80's sci-fi. But Beverly Hills Cop is very good too.

Mike Lemon

No, I don't have insomnia.

Milton Reduxed

Movies based on true events: • Missing (1982) — IMDB 7.7, R.T 94% • Society of the Snow (2023) — IMDB 7.8. R.T 90% • The Way Back (2010) — IMDB 7.3, R.T 73% • North Face (2008) — IMDB 7.4, R.T 84% • The China Syndrome (1979) — IMDB 7.4, 88% • Sleepers (1996) — IMDB 7.5, R.T 73% • The Dish (2000) — IMDB 7.2, R.T 96% • The Bounty (1984) — IMDB 7.0, R.T 74% • Bridge of Spies (2015) — IMDB 7.6 , R.T 91% • Casino (1995) — IMDB 8.7, R.T 79% • Silkwood (1983) — IMDB 7.1, R.T 77% • Recount (2008) — IMDB 7.3, R.T 78%

Joe J

@MikeLL, Maybe they will enjoy it. She just ruins another poll IMO by including BHC. She can watch it anytime, right?

Above Average Dave

He is my role model in all; things. And likely the reason I've been such a successful underachiever. And a snappy dresser.

Tim Weaver

If we get to suggest true event flicks I'll suggest Spotlight (2015 Rachel McAdams Michael Keaton) The Hurricane(1999 Denzel), Radio (2003 Cuba gooding j r)

Richard Maurer

There are plenty of of other older movies that are better, imo.

Canadianant

Joe I also want cannonball run at some point " those aren't fathers....their mothers!"

Tim Weaver

Plus axel has lions jacket that wasn't a thrift shop find well before he recent groundswell of Pride.

Brian Lowery

Four movies. BTW, “valuable slot?” This is a movie reaction site, not an audience with the Dalai Lama. I’m not a fan of Planet of the Apes, but I know many others are. Just because I don’t watch them, doesn’t mean I would infer that those movies don’t have value.

Tim Weaver

Nobody but Eddie and his agent acknowledge that fact.

Daniel Karlsson

I hope you still go ahead with your plan to rewatch Inception, Interstellar and the Dark Knight trilogy regardless of this poll.

Milton Reduxed

We've already had the yearly re-watch in Gladiator. Need to wait till 2026 for another one...

Tim Weaver

Tommy Boy would crack her and Cassie up the most imo + I believe it was shot in Canada.

Larry Darrell

Just watched Thirteen Lives (2022) again last night. Man that’s a good movie. True Story by the way.

Just Plain Bob

P.S. to the above: I’m also highly dubious of this claim. Time and again some patron says they vote for movies on polls because they think Cassie will like them. Those same patrons almost invariably try to steer Cassie away from movies THEY don’t like by saying SHE won’t like them; they’re too intense, too scary, too something-or-other they don’t like. I believe that most patrons simply vote for the movies they like best, then lie to themselves and the rest of us about their motivation.

FranciscoGios

Don't skip Beverly Hills Cop if you want a laugh Cassie.

Cole Jennett

@Richard Maurer You don’t think having her rewatch some of the most popular movies that she watched once pre-channel won’t help with views?🤯

Mark White

That will be why it’s not on the channel then! Thanks Cole.

Joe J

Midway would engage Cassie much more, it has the personal story line. Tora is a documentary.

Larry Darrell

I went to click on Disaster Poll hoping The Towering Inferno might have a good chance, and I saw the percent bar shoot up. Got real excited. Then I realized I clicked on True Events by mistake. Crap.

Cole Jennett

You want overrated, it’s 48 hours

Just Plain Bob

It is hard to go wrong with Paul Newman.

Chris Thom

She's seen Spotlight.

Joe J

Much preferred if Cassie would use a random generator in selecting these Pollception choices. If not she will choose to leave Horror off, which is wrong IMO. Martial Arts I think we can get.

Dan M

I’d love to see an actors poll with Robin Williams: Mrs. Doubtfire Patch Adams Good Will Hunting Bicentennial Man Dead Poets Society The Fisher King The Best of Times Awakenings

Bill Maurer

Love Beverly Hills Cop. Saw that with my two best friends when it first came out and we laughed our a**es off at it. Hope she watches it. Love history and hope some of these draw her and everyone else's attention. Patton (1970) - Great and Oscar worthy performance by George C Scott. A great spectacle of a movie that also hones in on the General himself Downfall (2004) - One of the best acting performances that I have ever seen. Bruno Ganz's performance as Adolph Hitler is mesmerizing. Based on actual interviews of people who were in the bunker at the last few days of WW II including Hitler's Secretary, Traudl Junge. Who also gave a great performance on her own. Midway (1976 or 2019) - Is it better to be lucky or better to be good. US Navy was both (and brave) during a 5 minute window in the climatic battle of the Pacific War.

Richard Maurer

JP Bob - I’m thinking the whole “it’s about what Cassie likes” is a bunch of bull anyway. So many people here act like they’re picking movies strictly for Cassie’s benefit, but you know they’re picking those movies because they like them too. Whenever Cassie likes a movie they don’t think is “right for her”, like 300, Starship Troopers, or Kill Bill, they just ignore it and act like it never happened.

Tim Weaver

Weird it didn't appear via yt search

Matthew Scarth

'Galaxy Quest' is definitely worth a rewatch with Carly now you've finished with 'Star Trek', I think you'd appreciate it even more now. It would be great seeing you, as a fan, watching it with Carly, as a non-trekkie.

Larry Darrell

Back in 2018, 13 kids got trapped in a cave in Thailand. This is that story. I remembered seeing bits about it in the news at the time, but had no idea of what actually happened. It’s a crazy story. I’ve watched this film 4 times now. Directed by Ron Howard too. If you don’t know the story, watch the film first. It’ll be more exciting.

2-Can

If Cassie were to watch Animal House, the scene where Bluto and the rest react to Flounder’s photograph perfectly captures my feelings about a re-watch poll. So one vote for Animal House before giving a rewatch poll any more oxygen.

Just Plain Bob

The Matrix sequels are evidence that some creators only have one good idea in them. After the first one, the series fell off a cliff in terms of quality.

Just Plain Bob

“Tora Tora Tora” is a perfect example of a movie based on historic events done absolutely right. Great movie.

Joe J

FYI Clarence, Jen Murray is reacting to Cool Hand Luke this week. Maybe a few weeks until it makes YT.

Above Average Dave

OK, true confession: I don't think BEVERLY HILLS COP has held up. Likely just me here, but I saw it not too long ago, understand completely why it was such a fresh-feeling hit in 1984, but it feels like just an artifact now. I will caveat this by saying I never cared for the sequel which felt like almost a shot-for-shot remake, only with slight changes to the plot when there was so much more opportunity. I say all this still loving me some 80s comedies not seen on Cassie's Channel yet (including: MR. MOM, RUTHLESS PEOPLE, REAL GENIUS, WEIRD SCIENCE, 9 TO 5, RAISING ARIZONA, MIDNIGHT RUN, THE SECRET OF MY SUCCESS, 16 CANDLES, BACK TO SCHOOL, THE NAKED GUN, and the holiest of holies, CADDYSHACK, among others).

Mike Lemon

@Bob- Nothing wrong with a good rom-com (good being the key word, there are a lot that don't qualify), but with everything else, agreed.

Just Plain Bob

Bruce is FANTASTIC as the King of Rock ‘n Roll in “Bubba Ho-Tep.” He’s an absolute icon.

Just Plain Bob

Or even skip a year on the re-watches. Or a decade.

Chris Thom

When a Stranger Calls could be fun for Carly to show Cassie in October. If she's not still too traumatized.

Bill W

I vaguely remember the real event but had no idea there was a film until 6 months ago... I saw it on a South African reactor's channel. Very interesting!.

To Wa

Rewatch What's Up Doc? with sister.

Chris Thom

Damn I never knew that. Must've been a tax thing.

Dan M

I also saw BHC with my two best friends when it came out in theaters. My friend Dan laughed so hard he was crying. Some of the humor may not hold up to today’s audiences, but I still have a great time every time I watch this movie and BHC 2.

Bill W

Robert, true the whole Paul Reiser portion felt detached from what I remember.

Bill W

Feels like more of a winter movie.

Dan M

Citizen Kane is a good movie, but I don’t think it would make for a good reaction on any reactors channel.

KyloJames

You can always tell the age demographic of most users with the poll results LOL! Guys, let’s bring in some modern movies please LOL

Bill W

She's only like 32.

Tim Weaver

We will find out if she snores when she nods off. If it's a classic movie id suggest double indemnity or North by Northwest

Tim Weaver

What does that have to do with the price of cheese?

Grad

Quiz Show (1994)

Mike Lemon

Mostly agree, but I don't think Caddyshack holds up either. There are good scenes I can watch over and over, but for the most part, the actual movie is just meh.

Chris Thom

And the one with DeNiro in the hospital. Blanking atm.

Just Plain Bob

Yep. Just look at the response when it became clear that “American Psycho” was gonna win a poll and get a reaction. Some people lost their minds, literally saying that patrons that voted for it were monsters and psychopaths (I got some of the backlash on that for defending their votes, even though I didn’t vote for it myself). Then, Cassie watched it, was fine with it and didn’t hate it. Absolute crickets. No one said “Whelp, I guess we were wrong.” And they certainly never admitted that their fellow patrons didn’t cause Cassie permanent harm by VOTING ON A POLL. I’d have a lot more respect for them if they simply said they didn’t like one or more of the movies on offer, instead of pretending they’re objecting for Cassie’s sake.

D. T. Nelson

Beverly Hills Cop is a product of its time. It was fresh and unique when it came out, then it was copied so every other 80s comedy cop movie attempted to be just like it. The movie itself is also a little dated. The music was taken and used and reused in dozens of other movies. However, it is early Eddie Murphy, and (along with his previous movie, 48 Hours), launched him from stand up comic to movie star status. It is an important movie, and a fun watch. I definitely like the idea of a true events poll. It should include the movies Argo; Ray; A Beautiful Mind; Hidden Figures; Lion; The Pursuit of Happyness (yes, spelled like that); Girl, Interrupted; and Frost/Nixon.

Bill W

Waiting for Alice Cooper and Bob Seger bio-pics!!

MikeLL

Jennifer, I've been beating the Bringing Back Baby drum for years. It's on her list, she says, but I sure wish she would just watch it, and The Philadelphia Story, too.

Joe J

Even Keanu isn't enough to get Matrix 3 over the line, Lol.

Zander

...I see a crappy blue Chevy Nova coming to a watch-along near you. :) Re-watching A League Of Their Own wouldn't hurt either ... if it's sister-sister that is.

Chris Thom

Bet she would like Girl, Interrupted and Frost/N. But A Beautiful Mind, Hidden Figures, and Pursuit she's already seen.

Larry Darrell

If Cassie put the option, specifically “re-watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)” then I would vote for it. I don’t believe her when she says she’s seen it. But, she didn’t say that, and there would most definitely be a ringer in the poll, and we would wind up watching a film everyone has seen a million times, and Cassie only mildly doesn’t remember. It’ll be the most popular film, that doesn’t have a reaction, or it will be a re-watch with Carly, which isn’t much better.

K, Zachary

I love Beverly Hills Cop, The theme, 80's atmosphere but Beverly Hills Cop II was so much better, there are scenes from that movie where my friends and I will laugh so hard that we are crying even to this day 30+ years later after we saw it. 80 's sci-fi, yeah that a good way to attract female patrons 🙄. Where is the Denzel Washington poll? So many movies your missing out on Fences, Flight, Book Of Eli, Training Day, Equalizer 2. But whatever is chosen because your reacting to it I am sure it will be good.

MikeLL

JoeJ, see my comment here that she doesn't need input from me/us to watch BHC. But the voters HAVE spoken.

Bill W

Isn't she already doing at least 2 Star Trek series (Orig and TNG)? Also, for musicals/music themed movies... already predicting Blues Brothers and Spinal Tap as winners. It would be a waste of time even putting them on a poll.

Dan M

The Hurricane is a good movie. Denzel at his finest.

Chris Thom

Ohhh right. Yeah I know that one. Amy Poehler was on a talk show not too long ago talking about how she wanted to have relations with the whole adult cast...at the same time. lol

Bill W

Agree. Why should some movies get 2 viewings when other, better movies get zero?

Bill W

BHN- his worst movie. Yes, Tommy Boy filmed mostly in Toronto area.

Joe J

Tim, she has reacted to North by Northwest.

Ian Tonge

You can't really go wrong here. I went 80s Sci Fi on a whim, but I'll be happy with any of these.

Bill W

"Little minx" ? Classy.

Above Average Dave

I can see this, although I always viewed that as a series of skits/scenes with the loosest of threads connecting them. Also, any movie that I quote almost daily, if not multiple times daily, has withstood the test of time, at least in my experience. So I have that going for me. Which is nice.

Cole Jennett

I’ve been wanting Sleepers for a long time, unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to get there on a PPOTM but hopefully it would make a based on a true story poll

Above Average Dave

AWAKENINGS. Brilliant Penny Marshall film. And DeNiro completely going against type in the best of ways.

Chris Thom

She's not that kind of girl. But she is (was) kind of a wet t shirt kind of girl. So there's that.

Cole Jennett

I honestly think the rewatch poll would be made up of movies that have never appeared on the channel, so if that’s your concern Bill W, you may be able to rest easy

Dan M

Oh man…how could I forget. Awakenings!! Thanks, Chris! I added it to the list.

Clarence Newman

All the cool kids have watched that one.

Chris Thom

Rumor has it that she made a bet with Carly that she could make Clarence prom king.

Dan M

@Anthony Carlson Yes, that and the fact that it’s a very cerebral movie.

Justin S.

Yeah, but many movies from the past were shown on TV all the time. 80s movies were just as popular as 90s. I was born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s. Age really has nothing to do with it as a lot of my favorite films came out before I was born. It's all about what you were into and your parents as well.

Clarence Newman

Agreed. Steer clear of The Silver Chalice and Quintet and it's all gold.

John Liebling

You are correct. Cassie's channel is extremely successful. Perhaps she'll take a shot and make the pick on her own. A once in a while good old fashion pick, which might not hit mass appeal, will bring a smile to the older, loyal, bunch of us...Maybe just wishful thinking...But I have faith it might one day happen.

Cole Jennett

Can I make a point that I agree that rewatches suck if the reactor knows the movie off by heart. I would never vote for a Harry Potter rewatch for example. Totally with you guys there, but we are talking Cassie and Carly who are notorious for forgetting movies, and some of the potential movies will have been only seen once, possibly as long as 20 years ago.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

If 80s sci fi wins, what 80s sci fi is there left for Cassie to watch? She has seen Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Robocop, Spaceballs, and the Star Trek movies... Aside from Red Dwarf, what else could there be?

Clarence Newman

Little known and very exciting fact..... Correct pronunciation of the title is "Twa! Twa! Twa!"

Just Plain Bob

I don’t think Carly’s ever seen “When A Stranger Calls”, only a bit of the remake. My guess is that she doesn’t even know the original exists. Incidentally, “Stranger” started as a student short film. It was expanded into a feature length movie when a studio bought the rights. That first twenty minutes (reshot for the feature length film, of course) comprised the entirety of the original short. For that matter, after the first twenty minutes the original isn’t any great shakes, either. I’d recommend “Black Christmas” instead. Great proto-slasher and it has a key plot element that was later copied by “Stranger.”

Bill W

Those movies already had their chance to make an impression. If we run out of movies they've NEVER seen, we can do re-watches.

Clarence Newman

This is bullshit. Reactions to Cannonball Run, Time Machine AND Cool Hand Luke in the same month and none of them by Cassie??

Bill W

Patron $ supports the channel. How many views does it take to = $1 cash? I want the channel to thrive, but I'm not going place my votes to what is likely to get the most views on youtube. Many of the best movies will never get watched that way. In the meantime someone can send them some gingko-biloba.

Just Plain Bob

2010, Flash Gordon, Night of the Comet, Lifeforce, They Live, 1984, Scanners, The Blob (remake), The Fly (remake), Altered States, Escape from New York, Brazil…I think we could come up with something.

Mark White

You have thrown down the challenge there for me Johnathan, I will give it a go! “Flight of the Navigator” “Flash Gordon” “Inner space” “The Fly” “Escape from New York” “The last Starfighter” And………….. “Caravan of courage, An Ewok Adventure”!😉😆

Chris Thom

Well for one you got 80's Arnold, Jim Brown, and Jesse Ventura like running and stuff, man.

Gábor Árki

Enemy Mine Short Circuit Cocoon The Final Countdown *batteries not included

Gábor Árki

Great movie. I'm really hoping for a reaction to that one. But it was on the last disaster movie poll and I think ended up being the last one with disastrously low number of votes. PS: true story disaster movies would be a good poll too. Most of those movies would make for a great, emotional reaction with Cassie.

Tim Weaver

Enemy Mine (1985) Dennis Quaid,Lou Gossett Jr Innerspace (1987) Martin Short Dennis Quaid Alien Nation (1988) James caan

KJ

Agreed - too many old farts in here. I'm one too but there's too many requests for plodding films with bad acting and slower story lines.

Mark White

“Running Man” I forgot the one liner special with Arnold!

Clay F

Good choices. I always thought that Beverly Hills Cop would win any poll it's in. I voted Based on True Events. 80s Sci Fi in strong 3rd place might have had an even better chance if was simply sci fi (not limited to 80s or any decade). Rewatch Poll would be good to see reactions to great/iconic movies they don't remember, but would never win.

Just Plain Bob

Richard, don’t you understand that if it doesn’t have CGI slathered all over the screen, it’s not a real movie?

Ted Whalen

100% agree about Downfall. It is really interesting to see the last couple days of the war from the German side. I actually like the original Midway movie vs the 2019 version.

KJ

I'm for disaster films; San Andreas, Earthquake, Snowpiercer, Dredd (2012), Miracle Mile

Just Plain Bob

Recency bias is nothing new. We all have a tendency to like the films we grew up on. What is relatively new is the almost virulent reaction by younger viewers today to older movies. I never ruled out a movie just because it was made before I was born. What a weird, ego centric line of demarcation that makes. But it seems to be more and more common.

mattosh79

Based on true events, please put The Bounty on the poll. Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson. Cassie would love it I feel.

Just Plain Bob

And the fourth one redefines (downward) the term “Godawful.”

Christian Becker

Too bad we already hounded you with John Carpenter. A disaster movie poll sounds nice. You could even combine it with a rewatch poll (cough SW7–9 cough). One category that's sorely missing is a musical poll—for just one reason: I'd like you to watch The Court Jester.

Mark White

I liked BHC, not a lot, but it’s entertaining enough and funny. I Think Cassie will like it, but without being blown away. But, I do think Cassie should get some decent YT views with it. I will predict somewhere over 200k.

Ted Whalen

Great list…..I would add Moscow on the Hudson to the list.

Just Plain Bob

Clarence, don’t get creepy and make us uncomfortable.

Laura Thornley

Add David Lynch's Dune to the list. Its a trip.

Jon Mooney

I think a Jane Fonda poll would be a good choice for Cassie. On Golden Pond, Barefoot in the Park, The Electric Horseman, etc. My vote would be Barefoot in the Park but I think she’d enjoy all of them.

Clarence Newman

Or a specific generator, as in, let one of us choose the polls. As he's our main poll guy, I vote for Joe.

Clarence Newman

Not a bad word where I come from, Bill. In fact, it's based on a character called "Minnie the Minx" from an old children's comic called The Beano - her main quality being that she was mischievous.

Chris Thom

That's the one. Thank you. Really sweet movie.

Jon Mooney

And to round out the poll… The China Syndrome and Monster-in-law

Mike Lemon

@Cole- Let's be real, it would be Forest Gump, the movie every other channel has done.

Rose Cullenward

The Impossible would be a must see for your True Story poll!

Bill W

Already watched Dead Poets, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Good Will.

Mark White

Rose I haven’t seen The Impossible, but having just looked it up, you have peaked my interest! I’m going to have to watch it. May I Also suggest “Touching the Void” awesome true story.

Rose Cullenward

The Impossible would be an amazing true story watch!!

Jon Mooney

I resemble that remark LOL

Chris Thom

I'm going to correct your grammar Mark only because I'm super proud of myself for actually knowing this and a lot of times I don't know jack s--. But it's 'piqued' interest. Also Impossible is good. Great effects for a relatively mid budget.

Chris Thom

Damn I thought Dead Poets Society would be on the channel eventually. Bet she saw that one in school.

Paul Imrie

War movies attract a high amount of views. Zulu (1964) is a real battle, resulting in the highest number of Victoria Crosses (British Medal of Honor) per combatant, and is a great story of courage against overwhelming odds (100 vs 4,000). That would be a profitable addition to your Watched List. Starring a young Michael Caine

Just Plain Bob

I’m a grammar/language snob myself. Can someone please tell millennials and Gen Zers everywhere that “wreaked” is a different word, with a different pronunciation, than “wrecked”? You don’t “wreck” havoc. Also, versus is pronounced “vur-suhz”, not “verse.” It’s two syllables, not one. The English language is being dumbed down.

Clay F

A big +1 for war genre, but as a genre unlikely to win a poll to select a genre I think -- espcially if sci-fi is included in the poll.

Jake McNulty

Shame Cassie already watched it before starting the channel.

Clay F

Mark, good point = BHC should get decent YT views.

Justin S.

Exactly. Almost all of us here were definitely born after several great Alfred Hitchcock movies and they are still being enjoyed 60 to 80 years later.

Clay F

Jane Fonda poll would be good. Klute (1971) (in which she won her first Oscar) would be my top choice.

JAKH

but a true events poll . . .

Just Plain Bob

Bill W, it’s interesting you say that. I love the film but there is a definite coldness to it. If I were to associate it with a season, it would definitely be winter (and not because of Rosebud).

Jason Mangen

It was actually Caines debut into the movies.

Tim Weaver

48hrs over BHC for me.

Just Plain Bob

Perfect example. I discovered Hitchcock when I was in high school and instantly loved his entire oeuvre (even “Frenzy”, which is reviled by many). Yet, all of his significant films were made before I was born and my favorites were made DECADES before I was born.

Joe J

I like war films also, Zulu is an excellent movie. Pre-70 movies will struggle for YT views, but that's true of all genres outside of a few classics. I hope Cassie will use a random generator for future Pollception polls.

rycolaa

Taiki Waititi or John Carney for director polls

Tim Weaver

China syndrome is sooo good.

MikeLL

A lot can happen in 2 days. Just saying.

Jon Mooney

How did I forget Klute??? Good catch man. Shame on me

Joe J

BHC should do well on YT. I do get the feeling that Eddie isn't a favorite of Cassie's.

Patrick

@Cole, I understand she may have already watched ur favorite movie pre channel, We are Marshall is one of mine and she already saw it. I don't care to see her reaction to movies she already knows. Talking about movies she already has saw, pre channel, I think it would be a great topic for podcast or live chat discussions. Just my opinion here, but I think most would feel upset if re-watches start coming before 1st time watches. Let's be honest, this community is FULL of whiners as it is, 🤔 myself included at times unfortunately... LOL 🤣

James M

Holding out for an actor poll and William Powell. 😄

Bill Maurer

Yeah, me too. I am a big Charlton Heston fan. Plus you have Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Glen Ford, Toshiro Mifune and "Ponch" from CHiPS !!!!

Clay F

A. BEVERLY HILLS COP (1984) – I always thought would win any poll. The voting middle-aged male patrons (a dominant plurality) so taken with the Eddie Murphy star power and w/BHC in particular. In contrast, I don’t think Cassie so far really taken w/Eddie Murphy star power. See, e.g., her reactions to Trading Places and Coming to America. If BHC wins, glad will be finally taken off the list so can't destroy any poll in the future. I think his first movie 48 Hrs. (1982) should be reacted to before BHC (1984) but that ain’t happening. A plus is BHC should do well w/YT views. B. BASED ON TRUE EVENTS. I voted Based on True Events. I like this category (as many people do) and plus encompasses all genres – thus I’m not surprised doing well in the poll but a little surprised a strong 2nd and could unseat BHC. C. 80s SCI FI – very respectable 3rd place. Might have had an even better chance if more broadly was simply sci fi (not limited to 80s or any decade). I love sci-fi. I grew up reading sci-fi books and watching sci-fi movies. However, I am saddened that other genres typically don’t really stand a chance against sci-fi (an incredibly popular genre). The first reactor (PiB was my 2nd) I joined has had maybe 10 polls to select a genre (each poll with 15+ genre choices) and sci-fi won every time, except for the couple of times that sci-fi not included in the poll. As for this 80s sci-fi poll, I would hope Escape from NY (1981), which I have nostalgia for, would win. Also, maybe MM2 because she likely to react to MM2 anyway. My personal ranking of the poll choices, most preferred to last. 1. Based on True Events 2. Rewatch Poll (movies seen once long time ago) 3. Director Poll 4. Actor Poll 5. 80’s Sci Fi Poll (wish wasn’t limited to 1980s) 6. Beverly Hills Cop 7. AI/Robot Movie Poll 8. Disaster Movie Poll

Anthony Carlson

Has anyone suggested a Sean Connery poll? If not, I would throw my hat into the ring for A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, his last live action movie….

Richard Maurer

Cole - you asked if I thought “ some of the most popular movies she watched pre-channel” would do well on YT, then you mentioned Forrest Gump and Good Will Hunting. Assuming that she lists them as re-watch’s they would do okay but probably not as good as you think. Re-watch’s tend not to do that well, whatever the circumstances. Forrest Gump would do better ( because people like that movie for some reason) I doubt if a re-watch GWH would do really well though.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I just realised if Cassie did a poll for cop movies it would probably be titled Poll-iception; just adding a letter "i" to pollception!

Wesley White

A lot of good choices for polls, I'm definitely on board with what's winning, Beverly Hills Cop is a great movie! However, my vote is for "Rewatch Poll"! When I say "Rewatch" however I'm talking about movies you've seen in your past, but don't remember much of! Though I admit I would love to see you do a rewatch of "The Hobbit trilogy" with Carly and see you do a rewatch of the "ALIEN" and "ALIENS" movies on 4/26 "Aliens Day" lol, however watch the Director's Cut of both movies lol! Now when I say rewatch, I say rewatch movies that you've seen before the channel, but don't remember much of, for example when I suggested to you on your recent live my favorite Disney classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and you said that you saw that movie in school, but fell asleep during it and all you remember is the submarine, please excuse me I don't mean to sound like a wise guy, but in my opinion that doesn't count as "you've seen it" lol! Plus, I really would love to see you watch more Chris Farley movies, especially "Tommy Boy", I know you also said you've seen it before, but it's been a while, so how much of it do you remember? Lol! That's just me however! Really good choices for Polls! Love and support Cass, hope you're doing well and I hope your son is getting well too! You and Carly are the best, and God bless y'all and the family🥰😇🙏😁🤗😉👍✌🌹

Mark White

Yeah, Chris and Bob, it’s scary I managed to scrape though 4 years of Uni with my spelling and grammar!🤦‍♂️ but, I’m afraid you are going to have to put up with it, because at 48, it ain’t going to get any better! 😉

Cole Jennett

@Patrick I take your point if we were talking movies she’s quite familiar with. If you ask her, she doesn’t remember any real details of a lot of movies that she probably hasn’t watched since High School. @Mike Lemon again, I ask, who cares what other reactors have done? What does that have to do with PiB? I want to see her reaction.

Richard Maurer

Clarence- just say you like them in a brotherly way.

Richard Maurer

Patrick - don’t you know it’s only whining if you disagree with the person doing it. If you agree with the person, or are doing it yourself, then it’s “voicing an opinion”.

Patrick

U can argue that, maybe it's just my experience, but I usually start remembering things once I start watching a film again🤷🏼

Patrick

@Rich, I still define it as "whining" lol. Maybe it's just a product of my upbringing 🤣

Richard Maurer

My remark is for EVERY decade of films. There’s a few great ones, a few more good ones, a lot of mediocre ones, and quite a few garbage ones. The only problem is getting movie fans to agree which films belong in which category.

Win

Based on true events tora tora, American gangster w/ Denzel , Awakenings , Robert De Niro , Air w/ Matt Damon , The Founder /Michael Keaton and true sports story American Underdog

Richard Maurer

Mike LL - I can’t remember when ( if ever) a film this far ahead lost a poll. Could happen, but it’s not likely at this point.

Win

Based on true event comedy, 1941 w/ John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd

Clay F

+1 for Rewatch Poll

Clay F

SCI FI might attract more votes if not limited to 80s. Children of Men (2006) [No. 7 at popcornrequests] 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) [No. 16] Moon (2009) [No. 113] Snowpiercer (2013) Escape from NY (1981) Forbidden Planet (1956) The Fly (1986) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) Coherence (2013) Take Shelter (2011) 1984 (1984) Westworld (1973) The World’s End (2013)

Ted Whalen

I think with the news that Major League Baseball has reinstated Shoeless Joe Jackson, that Eight Men Out would be a good movie to add to the list.

Clarence Newman

We can take Road Warrior out of there, Clay. Cassie's definitely watching that.

Clarence Newman

It's only 2 points up, so it could happen. But even if Beverly Hills Cop wins, there's no way Cassie can drop a Poll poll, have an individual ringer win the vote (which it was always going to), and not watch the runner-up too. She wouldn't do us dirty like that.

Clay F

That's why I included it -- so that the sci-fi poll would not really give a movie if Road Warrior won. While I love sci-fi, the channel has had enough sci-fi for now. We need other genres.

Clarence Newman

It's ok. It's a "Dan Aykroyd covered in happy slime" kind of thing. It'll wear off.

Just Plain Bob

Age is no excuse, young man! You’re now on double secret probation (and if you have to look that up, I will truly be embarrassed).

Clay F

I understand your point, but the Google page for MM2 gives "Action/Sci-fi" as the genre.

Clarence Newman

True Events poll ideas: Bonnie & Clyde (1967) Papillon (1973) The Elephant Man (1980) Raging Bull (1980) World's Fastest Indian (2003) Wolf of Wall Street (2013) Noah (2014)

Clarence Newman

Have you seen "The Offence" (1972), Anthony? By no means a cuddly film, but maybe Connery's best acting.

TheSingulatarian

"1941" May be Steven Spielberg's most notable flop. It had everything going for it, but it just didn't work. Superstar director in Spielberg. Script by the guys that would go on to write "Back to the Future". All-star cast. John Williams score. But it just didn't work. I think they were going for a Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world type of vibe but they just didn't hit the sweet spot.

Mark White

Hang about Bob, I just need to Google that! 😉😆 Also, I would just say, at least you don’t have to try and read my handwriting. That is undecipherable! Even to me.

TheSingulatarian

She has to watch "Klute" she promised Tom Cruise after all.

Jake Pommerer

If true events win please include a sports movie based on true events

Mark White

Agreed, if BHC wins, Cassie will at least do the second highest vote/poll. In some ways I kinda hope BHC does win, because I am convinced Cassie will give us one or even two polls from these.

TheSingulatarian

Given they were all high as kites and improvised a lot it is amazing that they turned out a coherent movie.

Anthony Carlson

I have not Clarence. If all of us put down a list, that would be one of them.

TheSingulatarian

If she is doing disaster movies, she should watch the original "Airport" then watch "Airplane!" again. She may get a few more of the jokes.

Mark White

Now Johnathan, that’s another good poll idea. What cop movies hasn’t Cassie seen yet? Beverly Hills cop Training day Copland Dirty Harry I’m sure there must be loads more?!

TheSingulatarian

They aren't that bad. Not as good as the original but I would not call them bad.

Mark White

+1 for “American Gangster”

Just Plain Bob

I can’t criticize handwriting. Mine looks like a chimp with palsy wrote it during an earthquake.

TheSingulatarian

She needs to watch "Running Scared" the 1980s one with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines.

Mark White

Wow, that’s a great list of movies Clay. I think “Moon” is underrated, it deserves more attention. Sam Rockwell gives a great performance.

TheSingulatarian

Bronson Pinchot made a whole career out of that part. He went on to do a ton of seasons of "Perfect Strangers" essentially playing the same character who let's be honest was a bit of a rip off of Andy Kaufman's character in the TV series "Taxi"

KyloJames

I would die happy if Cassie finally watched CHILDREN OF MEN

Just Plain Bob

Plus infinity on “World’s Fastest Indian.” There, that oughta do it.

TheSingulatarian

"Deep Space Nine". "The Next Generation" walked so "Deep Space Nine" could run.

Mark White

Please sir! Please sir! Me sir “The Insider” waving his hand about at the back of the classroom, trying to get teachers attention.

TheSingulatarian

If you want a Streep movie "Doubt" is about as good as it gets. With very solid support from PSH.

TheSingulatarian

There are about 5 or 6 better zombie movies than that.

Mark White

Cassie has watched a few of those already, but there are one or two left, like “ Raging Bull”

mikethemotormouth

Whenever we eventually get to the true events poll, please include Gorillas in the Mist(1988) and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly(2007)

Just Plain Bob

Mark, I can’t believe I missed that when I suggested the additional movies to Milton’s recommend poll entries. The only boxing movie in its league is the first “Rocky.” Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese at the height of their considerable creative powers.

Richard Maurer

Noah? True events poll? Sure, let’s have Jason and the Argonauts on the poll too.

Sean

A poll of polls is a great idea. I hope we get 80s scifi!!!!

VYV77

I haven't seen it. Thanks for the suggestion. Have to admit I was stretching it a bit calling defending your life a Streep movie lol. It's just my favorite movie that she's in.

Anthony Carlson

Another would be The Man Who Would Be King (1975). I seen people talking about this in the PiB chat before it was closed.

Clay F

She has seen The Impossible

Clay F

TheSingular -- Good point

Jacob Wagner

Noah???? Thats not even Biblically accurate..

YodatheHobbit

WOOP! WOOP! it's the notification of the POLEASE!

YodatheHobbit

I hope that the movie "Thirteen Lives" ends up on the True Events poll if it wins. 🤞 Was also hoping Rewatch Poll might win(doesn't look likely) cause... I'll always be sad that you've already seen "The Impossible" a True Event AND Disaster movie before starting the channel according to Letterbox, so I'll never see your reaction, because I love that film with all my heart. And it's kind of oddly the best Mother's Day movie ever in my opinion. Like I wanted to just go home and talk to my mom DESPERATELY after seeing that for the first time. I had just moved out for the first time before seeing it and it made me value family so much.

"Based on True Events" might surpass BHC. BHC winning by only 1% (15 votes). CURRENT (996 votes total) BHC - 26% (261 votes) Based on True Events - 25% (246 votes) 80s Sci Fi - 18% (183 votes) Actor - 10% (100 votes) Rewatch - 7% (65 votes) Director - 6% (63 votes) Disaster - 5% (54 votes) AI/Robot - 2% (24 votes)

YodatheHobbit

What's great is it could tick three separate poll boxes. A True Event | Disaster | Rewatch!

bgb1975 (Brian)

Hmmm.....think I'll play it safe and go for Beverly Hills Cop. Otherwise, who knows what we may end up with?

Ted Whalen

There are still some pretty good sports movies based on true events- When We Were Kings, Ali, McEnroe vs Borg, Race, The Boys in the Boat, 61*, Pride of the Yankees

bgb1975 (Brian)

Police Academy was pretty funny, I think. (It has been a long time since I saw it)

Stranger2Reality

Given Rob Manfred's decision today to lift the Hall of Fame bans on Shoeless Joe Jackson and the other "Black Sox", this would be a great chance for Cassie to watch Eight Men Out, which is all about the 1919 World Series scandal.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Police Academy (1984) is probably the worst film I've ever enjoyed, it's crap but it's entertaining crap. I think Cassie did do a reaction to Naked Gun (1988) but didn't post it for some reason?

bgb1975 (Brian)

If you're gonna have a Connery poll, ya gotta include "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". It will get at least one vote.

Clay F

I think she is going to watch Beverly Hills Cop anyway. She said she is saving Beverly Hills Cop. No. 1 at popcornrequests.

2-Can

Zulu and its later-made prequel Zulu Dawn (for the battle preceding Rorke’s Drift of Zulu) are both excellent.

Clay F

CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 275 Based on True Events = 259 Rewatch doesn't stand a chance. A sports movie she would like to rewatch b/c she didn't pay attention and doesn't remember is: MONEYBALL (2011). Based on true story. Nominated for Oscar for Best Picture. Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill nominated for Oscars. One of my favorite movies of the 2010s. Inspirational movie. Maybe Carly could join her.

Catherine LW

Love The Man Who Would Be King. Connery and Caine!

Catherine LW

Downfall is brilliant. But I doubt it will win any poll.

Catherine LW

Quiz Show was an excellent film.

Art of Free Speech

To be fair, we should have had a poll on whether to do a poll of polls.

Julie

All these potential polls are great topics, but Beverly Hills Cop is the obvious choice for me. We need more amazing Comedies on the channel, I'd also love to see Tootsie and Arthur.

Cole Jennett

The Imitation Game would be high on my list as well.

Michael Lewis

Here's an idea for a recurring poll - Cassie's New Favorite Movie. You post your three favorite movies of all time and then take suggestions from subscribers on movies you've never seen which might replace one of your favorites as a new favorite movie. At the end of a viewing you announce either it's a new favorite or "close, but no cigar."

Jason Henderson

Great job Cassie! Great idea! Can’t go wrong with the top two either way! 👍🍿

JAKH

Sports true story: "Concussion" (2015) - Will Smith

JAKH

"The Highwaymen" (2019) Kevin Costner, Woody Harrelson "The Longest Day" (1962) "The 300 Spartans" (1962) "Pain & Gain" (2013) - Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Ed Harris "K-19: The Widowmaker" (2002) - Harrison ford, Liam Neeson "The Fall of the Roman Empire" (1964) - Alec Guiness, Christopher Plummer, Sophia Loren "Cleopatra" (1963)

JAKH

Nothing but repugnance for treasonous Hanoi Jane

Chris Thom

Her could be interesting. Been a long time since a weird Spike Jonez film.

Chris Thom

You know her too well.

MikeLL

I'd love both of those as well.

MikeLL

That's the problem. She's been saving it for a long time. A lot of people want it watched.

Mike Lemon

Knute Rockne, All American (1940)

Mike Lemon

How could we forget? Alive (1993) for based on a true story, especially if she has to fly somewhere soon.

Chris Thom

The new Snow Society thing is stealing it's thunder. But Alive is the version of the story I know.

fastecp1

My first two choices would be Papillon (1973) and The Elephant Man. I also voted for True Events.

fastecp1

I have been waiting for The Fly (1986) since Halloween. And Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) is one of my favorite movies.

Bill W

Stranger, yeah my #1 vote would be Eight Men Out...on it's own merit, but also as a companion piece for Field of Dreams. #2 would be Brian's Song.

She could watch Black Sheep. It's ALMOST Tommy Boy, and it's not a re-watch!

Bill W

+6 for Cop Land

Chris Thom

Feel like The Queen should definitely be on this channel specifically. Bet she would love it. But I'm kind of assuming she's seen it already. That's been on cable and HBO a TON over the years.

Clay F

She has not seen The Queen (2006). Yeah, I think she would like The Queen (2006).

Clay F

BHC lead narrows. Now only 10 votes. CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 289 Based on True Events = 279 Beverly Hills Cop even if loses, will be reacted to at some point. No. 1 at popcornrequests. She said previously she is saving Beverly Hills Cop, thus implying she will react to it. Expected to get good number of YT views.

JohnnyUtah

Most true events don't make me laugh like Beverly Hills Cop!

Keith Jones

The Killing Fields is brillient

Darren Harrison

I specifically asked her about it on a live and she said she wanted to save “Beverly Hills Cop”. I believe it is the number one request so she shouldn’t save it for too long. I’m noticing other reaction channels have started doing the BHC movies.

Shawn Kildal

The Bourne trilogy I believe is at the top of her list

Garrett Wilson

For the "Based on True Events" movie, I recommend, "In the Name of the Father" (93) with Daniel Day-Lewis or go really old school with Battleship Potemkin (1925) with introduction by Leon Trotsky.

Shawn Kildal

Not a lot of people know about Miracle Mike. I enjoyed the heck out of it

Shawn Kildal

I wouldn't mind if it's just Carly either. It would probably be weird for her to do a reaction by herself

Ben Livingstone

I'm pulling for "Good Night and Good Luck" on the "Based on True Events" poll!

Shawn Kildal

Unless the re-watch is the Bourne trilogy which she claims she barely remembers, I'm out.

Clay F

"Good Night and Good Luck" is excellent for the "Based on True Events" poll. I would vote for it.

Clay F

+1 for "In the Name of the Father"

Clay F

Both 26%. 5 vote difference. CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 294 Based on True Events = 289

Teemu Laitinen

Downfall is excellent. I wish someday it picks up steam like Das Boot did and more people do reactions to it.

Teemu Laitinen

Downfall and Patton all the way and I sincerely hope that someday you can find a reaction to both in nearly every channel.

Mark Daniels

I thought I knew the answer. And then there was “just watch Beverly Hills Cop.” I will not, dare I say cannot, argue with that and it’s trio.

Just Plain Bob

Does anyone know whether “Moneyball” would be precluded from a poll based on true events, since it would be a rewatch? Mods, how about it? If it can be included, I’m changing my vote from 80s Sci-Fi to BHC. I have zero interest in rewatches. I’m not particularly interested in BHC either, being in the “BHC is overrated” camp, but I’m even less interested in some loophole being used just so “Moneyball” gets a rewatch.

Mark Vaderr

I've been begging for "Barefoot in the Park" for a while. "On Golden Pond" is an excellent film. Cassie & Carly would enjoy both of these movies.

Mark Vaderr

Can Cassie watch 2010 without having watched 2001?

Mark Vaderr

Don't fall for the banana in the tailpipe.

Mark Vaderr

Which modern movies are you wanting Cassie to watch?

Mark Vaderr

What about Beverly Hills Chihuahua?

Mark Vaderr

Tom Brady is not overrated, he's a cheater.

Mark Vaderr

I love Beverly Hills Cop, but only the first movie. The sequels are bad. I get what you mean about the request app. I couldn't believe how highly requested Crocodile Dundee was.

Mark Vaderr

The Insider. American Gangster. Amistad.

Clarence Newman

I don’t agree with saving highly requested movies, Darren. It’s not as if there aren’t a thousand other great movies ready to rush in and take the top spot.

Clarence Newman

Noah’s not a true story?? My Nan totally lied to me!

Clay F

I don't know if precluded or not. Moneyball rewatch has been included in only one poll -- and that was the baseball poll. There a zillion available high-quality and entertaining movies based on true events. I don't see Moneyball being included. Even in the remote chance it were, so many people are against rewatches. Unlikely that a rewatch of Moneyball would win a poll with first watches of stellar movies. What movies based on true events and that you prefer over BHC would you suggest for the poll?

Clay F

CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 300 Based on True Events = 292

Clarence Newman

One suggestion I would like to make, please and thank you. In future, can we make the length of polls just two days and not four or five or eight? The outcome is generally set within a few hours and those of us who generally lose the polls have to put up with two days of being mooned by those who win.

Clarence Newman

Saving a film FOR something is fine (Easter, Christmas, Halloween etc), but saving it indefinitely will eventually annoy fans of the movie. Beverly Hills Cop has long since earned a watch.

Clarence Newman

And I could go for some Jason & The Argonauts.

Clarence Newman

Cop Land. According to Chuck Wepner, that one's based on his life too.

Clarence Newman

Another ramble, I'm afraid. I think there are some very niche genres in this group. That's ok now and then, but there are some really popular genres that aren't even on there. My suggestion would be to do a poll like this at least once a month and set out the big genres (the most requested/talked about) to begin with. Just like Pick-a-Flick, a genre that wins a poll is disqualified from future polls for at least a year, allowing a different genre to step up. Here are two lists, the first being the genres I'm suggesting for the main, starting poll, the second being the ones that can then be fed on to future polls based on Patreon trends. Tier 1 CLASSICS - A very divisive genre, I know, but there are soooo many great pre-1960 movies and so many patrons who would love a reaction to them. It shouldn't be often, I agree (YT views are rarely good), but they should have their shot on a Poll poll. COMEDY - Good to have on every list because there are times when we (or Cassie) really need a comedy. When we don't, we vote for something else. When we do, the choice is there. COP MOVIES - Always exciting and fun. Too many great ones left to not have it as a staple genre. CRIME - Should probably be paired with COP MOVIES, but generally gets good coverage anyway. If not paired, I'd drop it to tier 2. DISASTER MOVIES - Who doesn't love a good disaster movie? And there are still a lot of Towering ones out there. EPICS - Because they're mostly old films, they probably wouldn't stand a chance. Would suggest they be paired with CLASSICS. HORROR (yes, outside of October!) - Like it or not, it's a very popular genre with some really great films among the gratuitous dross. Your hardcore horror fans would appreciate it and if the right movies are picked, YT views would be very good. MARTIAL ARTS - A popular and highly-ignored genre that contains some of the most eye-popping cinema of all-time. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, JCVD, Tony Jaa and even a select few Seagal movies. Asian cinema provides the best examples and Cassie would certainly be entertained. MONSTER MOVIES - Lots of good stuff here and Cassie has already enjoyed some of them. Not sure if it wouldn't stand a better chance if paired with HORROR. (Richard?) PRISON MOVIES - Like Cop movies, this is a genre that has spawned some truly great stories. There are still plenty more to choose from. ROMANCE - (Edit!) As Clay pointed out, while Cassie watched a load of romance movies pre-channel, the genre has been significantly neglected recently. It's also Cassie's favourite genre, so it should be on here. SCI-FI - NOT decade specific, though. That can come if the genre wins the main poll, but in a Poll of polls, votes would be diluted. SPORTS MOVIES - In all these years, there has never been a sports movie Cassie and Carly have not loved. We need more of them on the channel. TRUE EVENTS - Always interesting, and if this poll is anything to go by, very popular too. WESTERNS - Let's be honest, Cassie loves them now, although I do think they need to be of the more humorous kind. WAR - Some of the best reactions on this channel have been to war movies. Cassie appreciates the genre, so it should always have a place. Tier 2 (for Cassie to choose from when replacing the previous poll winner) ACTION MOVIES - Tier 2 because Action is a genre that's well represented anyway. It doesn't really need any help. ACTORS - As this poll has shown, a general actor category is too ambiguous to get many votes. It could still go on the main Poll, but Cassie would have to choose a specific actor every time. BIBLICAL - These naturally come out at Easter and Christmas and that's enough. DIRECTORS - Like the general Actors genre, too ambiguous to engage enough people. Would never win a Poll poll unless a specific Director is chosen (Spielberg, for example, because fans of Duel would vote for it.) DRAMA - Naturally covered throughout the year. No need. MUSICALS - There are some good ones out there and they're always fun to watch, but I'm not sure they'd have a prayer on a poll. THRILLERS - Naturally catered to on the channel. They would also get swept up in other genres like Cop movies, Prison movies, Action etc. That's it. If we have that kind of standard poll once a month, we would end up with some really interesting sub-polls, and because the winner would be eliminated for a year, we could never get stuck in one place. To the 4 people who have read this far.....what say you?

Garrett Wilson

If I may also add, The Battle of Algiers (1966). Shot like a documentary. It was such a powerful film that it was banned in France and shown at the Pentagon to prepare for the '03 Iraq invasion.

Gábor Árki

May I suggest avoiding the single-choice format for most polls? Since the results are visible, many people end up switching their votes to their second or third choice if it looks like those have a better chance of winning. This often results in just two runaway options dominating the poll. Unlike a multi-choice format, where you can support all your preferred entries, single-choice polls can give the false impression that there is little to no interest in the other options. And I don't think it has much effect on what would win the poll. I just changed my vote for the True Events poll so that we can have a poll instead of letting the no poll option win, even though it is only my 4th choice behind the Disaster, Actor, Director polls.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, I don’t dislike BHC, but out of all the movies Cassie hasn’t seen, that’s what is number 1? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Clarence Newman

Can I change my post to....GREAT point!(?) The more I read this, the more I believe that single-choice polls should be banned, for the very reasons Gabor mentioned.

Mark White

Mark, Any one of those three, would be a great watch for Cassie.

Mark White

One of these days Clay, we will get “Escape from Alcatraz” just a superb movie. Even my wife really likes it!

Richard Maurer

Agreed. I’ve never been a fan of single choice polls in general. The only kind of poll that I can think of that needs to be single choice is a poll with two options.

Richard Maurer

Not a bad idea Clarence. There are some genres in there that I don’t care about - and that’s how it should be. There are some genres that you (the reader) don’t like, but other patrons do. It’s not all about you.

Clay F

My son loves “Escape from Alcatraz”

Richard Maurer

If a comeback has ever happened after 3 days I don’t remember it. I would say 3 days to be on the safe side.

Richard Maurer

She’ll probably do the top two, since one of them isn’t The Fly (yes, I had to put that in there).

Clay F

I like the multi-choice format (approval style voting). "Approval voting is a method in which voters are allowed to select any number of candidates they approve of, rather than just one."

Richard Maurer

BHC will do well on YT, sure. But it’s not going to get Deadpool numbers, or even Deadpool & Wolverine numbers. I don’t know how well Cassie thinks it will do but I hope she’s not thinking it’s more popular than it really is.

Above Average Dave

I have some particular first hand insights into Amistad. 😁😁😁

Richard Maurer

I used to worry AI would go all Sky Net on us, now I realize they’re a bunch of idiots, just like humans.

Darren Harrison

I have been guilty of that and in this case had to choose between disaster polls and BHC. Personally I think poll results should be hidden until the poll ends to prevent this phenomenon.

Richard Maurer

Watching BHC won’t end the channel. And it’s not going to be the greatest thing to ever happen on the channel, either. It’s not that big of a deal, Cassie. It’s not as popular as you think.

Gábor Árki

Yeah, a hidden poll would be the best. Unfortunately Patreon does not support that.

2-Can

Secret Poll - after the next pick-a-flick, watch the movie most entered. We won’t know what it is until it is announced (or until the votes are posted). And watch all tied for first.

Richard Maurer

Did a quick YouTube search, the best anyone has done (in views) with BHC is Asia and BJ with 147k in a year. Now I’m sure Cassie will do better than this, but it’s probably going to be in the 200 to 250k range, if I had to guess.

Clay F

The categories of Actors, Directors, and True Events are not a genre. Romance should definitely be tier 1. At the top of tier 1. Romance as a genre has truly been shafted on the channel, especially the last year. And don't confuse the narrow rom-com with broader richer romance genre much of which Cassie missed out both pre-channel and on-channel. Again, the romance genre has been shafted big time -- that and the war genre the most neglected of any broad genre the past 12 months. We definitely need a romance poll(s). Does it look like Nov and Feb (see below) were truly set aside for romance genre? (Nothing like the number of scary movies/horror for October.) The romance genre screwed. It's time for multiple romance polls. FEBRUARY 2025 Beneath the Planet of the Apes Sicario No Way Out (action/thriller) [romance as a limited subplot – whoopee] Space Cowboys Dazed and Confused My Fair Lady (musical/family) [not even a kiss, much less a romance] Working Girl Breakfast at Tiffany’s [a single kiss] Planet of the Apes Face/Off Gladiator II NOVEMBER 2024 Howard the Duck Four Weddings and a Funeral Star Trek: Insurrection Son in Law Superman II Grumpier Old Men Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me Some Like It Hot [not a romance] Star Trek: First Contact Coming to America [a travesty] Big Fish In addition to the scarce romance movies in November and February, THE NUMBER OF "ROMANCE" GENRE MOVIES the remainder months of the last 12 months: May 2025 – 0 April 2025 – 2 --Willow (a kids’ movie) --A Matter of Life and Death (more fantasy than romance) March 2025 – 2 --Cold Mountain --Now and Then (so many better romance movies) January 2025 – 1 --An Officer and a Gentleman December 2024 – 0 October 2024 – 0 September 2024 – 0 August 2024 – 0 July 2024 – 0 June 2024 – 0 May 2024 – 0 CONCLUSION: The romance genre is being neglected big time, that and war genre the most avoided of any broad genre the last 12 months. The next polls should clearly be a romance genre poll and a war genre poll.

Richard Maurer

Also, many times you can guess the poll results, especially if there’s a “ringer” in the poll. Multiple choice would help some with this, giving people the choice to not just vote for the obvious winner.

Richard Maurer

Clay - I think the romance genre doesn’t get polls for two reasons - Cassie has seen a lot of romance movies ( not just rom-coms) and has stated a desire to expand her horizons. Also, it’s not that big of a priority with her general fan base either.

Clarence Newman

Yes, I'm taking Cassie's significant history with romance movies too much into account, and you're right about February and "Tender November". Neither were that tender. I've edited my list above accordingly.

Clarence Newman

That's a point too, Richard, but it should still go on the list. If you're right and most people don't care about it, the votes will show that.

Larry Darrell

I like it. Very well thought out. This could help bring out some films that rarely to never have a chance to be considered. I like the many detailed genres. More specificity in the polls is something I’ve always thought would be better. And even though there would be a lot of overlap in genres, as long as all specific genres are polled at one point, everything should even out.

Richard Maurer

Clarence, pairing horror and monster polls would just ensure that a lot of monster movies would get watched, as we already know from last October that real horror movies will get pushed aside by both poll makers and the voters. Not that I really believe there’s a chance in hell of horror movies getting a poll outside October, there is too much resistance to it. And I don’t mean from the patrons, and it doesn’t matter that it would very likely help her YT numbers.

Clay F

Suggestions for a Romance/War genre poll: ROMANCE/WAR GENRE -The English Patient (1996). Nom 12 Oscars. Won 9 incl. Best Picture. -Testament of Youth (2014) -Suite Française (2014). Michelle Williams. WWII -Summerland (2020). Gemma Arterton. WWII -The Exception (2016). Lily James. WWII -How I Live (2013) (based on novel). Saoirse Ronan (age 18) -The Messenger (2009) [RT=90%]. Woody Harrelson -The Railway Man (2013). Colin Firth. Nicole Kidman -Allied (2016). Brad Pitt. WWII -The Reader (2008). Kate Winslett won Best Actress Oscar. -Kingdom of Heaven (2005) -The Quiet American (2002) -Sommersby (1993). Richard Gere. Jodie Foster. -The Crying Game (1992). Forest Whitaker. Nom 6 Oscars. Cassie expanding her horizon.

Mike Lemon

I don't know, Neuro does want to get rid of the Sun, that is pretty Sky Net-y, but "she" is entertaining. I don't know if Neuro (and her sister, Evil) can watch movies yet but if they can I would love one of them (Evil preferred) to collab with Cassie sometime. The Swarm (Neuro/Evil's fans) would bring in big YouTube numbers.

Clay F

There is so much of the romance genre that Cassie has not appreciated. Her focus pre-channel was rom-coms and chick flicks. Horror is not that big of a priority with her general fan base. I would like to see her continue her path of doing more westerns.

Clay F

CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 310 Based on True Events = 303 But they both 26%, so maybe she will do both.

Clay F

I like Amistad. Rewatched last month.

Clarence Newman

To your points, Clay: 1) Appreciated, and I'm happy to see her explore the other areas of it. It should make her happy and I like to see her happy. 2) Yes, but it still shouldn't be neglected, especially given that proper horror movies will generally be rewarded with big viewing figures. We also like seeing Cassie bounce around the bed. 3) Damn tootin. We need some of the more light-hearted John Waynes.

Richard Maurer

I did say it could happen. Always C.Y.A

Nolofinwe

you Watch Beverly Hills cop any time you don't need a pole Cassie for the fun stuff

Clarence Newman

The 10% who clearly want a Paul Newman/Steve McQueen poll (and are prepared to sacrifice their say in the top two battle in order to champion it) should not be ignored either.

Joe J

Personally, I'm opposed to any type of Tier system for Pollception. I don't want Cassie cherry-picking selections and "gaming" the results. We see that enough on polls, right? For Pollception, a random generator should be used for selections. Everything (broad genres, sub-genres, and niche polls) should get equal weighting IMO. In addition to Pollception, Cassie will continue to do other polls she wants, like her Mother's Day poll, or Mods poll, or Top 100 random polls.

Nolofinwe

the great actors have more than just one great movie Paul Newman for example you have to watch "somebody up there likes me" it's a true story it's his first really great performance Rocky Graziano is the real rocky ! "the Lone Ranger " Johnny Depp. is another dont Listen to the hype about all the money it lost yada yada yada it is a terrific exciting funny movie.

Joe J

3 days max, nothings going to change after that.

Clarence Newman

Somebody Up There Likes Me is one of those great little movies - very much got an On The Waterfront feel to it and that's a good thing. Also has a young, unknown Steve McQueen in a small role. This is the film that caused the gigantic chip McQueen always had on his shoulder about Newman.

Joe J

In this particular Pollception poll, I think single voting is appropriate. Whatever's going to get top 2 is sorted out pretty quickly in polls, doesn't really matter if single or approval style is used.

Richard Maurer

Clay - horror is quite popular on YT, would likely bring her some new patrons if she watched more. Romance on the other hand is less popular than horror is here. But as I said in my first reply, it’s not all about us. Just because we don’t like a genre doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get watched on the channel. This goes for both romance and horror.

Richard Maurer

Getting rid of the sun isn’t evil, it’s idiotic. AI wouldn’t survive the loss of the sun either, power would run out eventually and with no renewable solar power it would die too.

Clarence Newman

I don't see Cassie as a gamer, Joe. I think all her foibles on polls and such (including the disgraceful disrespection of the Full Monty and the guy who picked it on PaF that month - who we have not seen or heard of ever since, by the way) are entirely innocent. I am also opposed to random generators, because that's what she uses on Pick-a-Flick and I never win.

Joe J

None of us has a crystal ball and can predict what 3000+ voting patron will like or dislike. We find out when a poll goes up, right? Get everything on Pollception polls and let patrons decide.

Stephen Last

If "Based on true Events" poll does happen, I hope at least one of the Midway movies is on it (1976 or 2019). Also Patriots Day.

Mike Lemon

When Neuro and Evil win the AI wars, after I turn you in to save myself, I'll put in a good word so they make it quick.:-)

Joe J

Cassie (or her team) "game" almost very poll Clarence. Ringers are always included in polls. Even her Mother's Day poll included one much more well-known and popular film...and it won the poll. I rest my case, lol.

Joe J

Well, we always have PAF Clarence, only around 350:1.odds, improving I would say, Lol.

MikeLL

And here we are just about tied, like I expected yesterday. Funny how that happens alot! 😂😂 @Clay F: what are the vote totals now?

MikeLL

Ah, here it is, I see now. Thanks for the vote totals, Clay F! I expected yesterday that this would end up tied! BHC and a poll! Cool beans!

MikeLL

Secret Poll! I love it! 🤣🤣🤣 What is it? We won't know until Cassie tells us, but vote away!

MikeLL

Yep, I switched my vote from the losing Actor Poll (which I really want) to just watch BHC. Based on True events sounds so boring! (I know it probably won't be, but it seems like a dry subject. I have no dogs to run in that race.)

MikeLL

Joe J, no it just means that the top two will get tied so the two most popular choices wins. Happens over and over again. Probably would happen no matter the format of the poll.

Lock_Down

Add " Jai Bhim" tamil movie for based on true events and get tissues if it wins

Suggestions for Based on True Events poll: 1. Zulu (1964) 2. A Man for All Seasons (1966) 3. Patton (1970) 4. Quiz Show (1994) 5. Downfall (2004) 4 decades covered. All in color. I don’t think any other reactor has watched these on YouTube except for Patton. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Richard Maurer

Thanks, friend. But no one will ever take me alive.

Catherine LW

Dang! I posted a list for that genre and should have included that one!

Richard Maurer

Pole suggestions for based on true events poll: The Final Programme (1973) Shin Godzilla (2016) It Follows (2014) Jason and the Argonauts (1963) Horror of Dracula (1958) Yes, these all really happened (somewhere in the multiverse).

Happy Hanukkah

"I'm Polling what to Poll. Help me Pollease!" Copernicus Jan Sobieski Chopin Marie Curie Karol Wojtyla Lech Walesa Polanski You're welcome.

Happy Hanukkah

Given the apparent results, I think the reasonable course of action is to have a "Based on True Events" poll and to include Beverly Hills Cop in it. :-P

Happy Hanukkah

At its most perverse, you have people so disliking the possible winner that they'll vote for its main competitor even if they have no intention of watching the latter.

Dean Holt

Ok even though it’s a shame imo, 80s Sci-Fi looks like it’s not going to win. I hope Beverly Hills Cop wins, even though I think Cassie should just watch it. As they really seem to be a shortage of fun movies on the channel. As we’ve had a lot of hard going heavy stuff over the last few months. So if Based on true events wins I think She should just watch Tag (2018) it’s got good casting and it’s a very good comedy.

Happy Hanukkah

And of course, Norm Macdonald. Sadly, Mondo Duplantis will somehow be added to the list and beat them all.

Bill W

Sadly "no reactors have watched these on Youtube" is almost like a strike against the movie.😒 No one wants to be first because there's no data on how well it will perform.

Clarence Newman

I have never agreed with Richard more. Cassie has put far too much stock in what will happen to the channel if she watches Beverly Hills Cop (or some of the other popular requests on PR). Much ado about nothing, I say.

Dan M

If a Based on True Events Poll wins, I think Eight Men Out should be included in the poll. We get a sports movie (baseball to boot), a great cast, and cool period music. And, I think it’s appropriate given the latest news in the major leagues.

Dan M

Excellent, excellent point! Never even thought about that.

Dan M

However, despite it not having a chance of winning right now, Im sticking to my guns and keeping my vote for an actors poll.

Chris Thom

Oh Quiz show. Good one. Almost never see that brought up on here.

Catherine LW

Some just want to go where no man has gone before…

Brian Lowery

If Based on True Events wins, I would recommend Temple Grandin. Great biopic about a pioneer in autism spectrum disorder research, and an American success story.

Grad

"Someone correct me if I’m wrong." Quiz Show has got one or two reactions.

Chris Thom

Huh? Are all those biopics?

Chris Thom

Great film. Strongly second that suggestion. Claire Danes nailed it.

René Ferland

All these movies are great. My favorite is The Pianist (2002).

Chris Thom

I don't know if I've even seen a reactor do a rewatch yet. Do they not make for good vids? Or I guess I saw Cassie do Gladiator again, but then again I never saw her first reaction to it. But it seemed like a good enough reaction.

LukeG84

I voted for Beverly Hills Cop, but I'd be just as happy if Based on True Events wins. So long as long as Temple Grandin (2010) is on the list of course. Best biopic I've ever seen, starring Claire Danes.

2-Can

It only falls apart if EVERYBODY picks a unique movie (of course, a couple of years of only watching the entries would probably work, the lists looked interesting) - but it seems every poll so far has had a movie with multiple entries. The winner may only have three votes, but that’s what happens in the Secret Poll.

Happy Hanukkah

(I thought I had included Cassie's introduction. Fixed.) These are all famous ... [drumroll] ... Poles. :-) :-P

Tim Weaver

I personally think it's his strongest performance. No disrespect to Training day but that was a fairly generic role imo. Its sort of like I think the Insider (also a true story) is Russell Crowe best performance though he won for gladiator.

Clarence Newman

OK, if we're doing this, we've got to include Marlon Borunki from The End (1978). Dom DeLuise at his best.

Clarence Newman

A scary thought, Richard. You do realise there's a multiverse where you just Pick-a-Flicked Rhinestone, right?

Just Plain Bob

She also did a rewatch of the LOTR trilogy with Carly. Those are the only two that spring to mind and I didn’t like either one. To me, Cassie’s reaction to both seemed performative, like she was deliberating over-reacting, rather than even remotely genuine. She also seemed to feign surprise at certain key plot points. Others feel differently and that’s fine. But I don’t like them for the reasons stated and that’s why I’m outspoken about my dislike.

Clarence Newman

I personally am doubling up with JP Bob to get World's Fastest Indian watched.

Clarence Newman

The last time I looked, The Champ (1979) had zero reactions. What is wrong with these reactorfolk?

Clarence Newman

Change it to a Paul Newman/Steve McQueen poll, Dan, and "Actors" would surge into the lead. Cool Hand Luke! Bullitt! Towering Inferno! Papillon! The Verdict! The Cincinnati Kid! The Hustler/Color of Money! C'maaahhhhhn!

Richard Maurer

Clarence- Yes, I realize there are realities in the multiverse where I have completely lost my mind.

Clarence Newman

Don't worry. I've softened her up with my montage picture. We'll have her focused on the love story come October.

Bill W

Catherine... I have about a half dozen of my own I've been trying to get watched for years now. Of those films and a dozen reactors.... I've gotten 1 reaction, and that's only because I won a Pick-a-Flick type drawing. The reactors are one thing, but getting a film to win a popularity poll? pffft.

Bill W

+10 for In The Name of the Father. I think there's only 2 reactions on youtube so far. One is by Dawn Marie....my selection when my name came up in her monthly Pick-a-flick type drawing.

Clarence Newman

Let's cut through the ka-ka, people. I think Cassie should scrap this poll malarkey, watch Beverly Hills Cop already, then put these golden nuggets on a poll: Actors (ie Paul Newman) - Cool Hand Luke (1967) 80s Sci-fi - The Fly (1986) Another Director (ie Steven Spielberg) - Duel (1974) Rewatches - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975). No WAY Cassie remembers a single second of that! AI/Robot movie - Cannonball Run (I won't stand to be disparaged. Jackie Chan's car is WELL futuristic!) Based on True Events - World's Fastest Indian (2003) Disaster Movie - Towering Inferno (1974) Can I get a barbaric "Yawp!"?

Just Plain Bob

I can’t believe this is happening: Yawp! God help me, I’ve done it. The only sticking point for me being that Burt Reynolds movie (the man made so many great movies but you’re inexplicably married to the worst thing he - or any actor - has ever done on film). I’d also object to the rewatch, but I agree that it’s likely that Cassie doesn’t remember a second of it (if she’s even seen it; some of the movies on her Letterboxd are so out of character that I wonder if she misremembers and believes she’s seen them when she hasn’t).

Clarence Newman

Excuse me, Robert. You have clearly not seen Stroker Ace (1983).

Just Plain Bob

PS to the above: Except I don’t think the movies Clarence lists should go on a poll. Just watch them all, with that one glaring exception. God help me, I’ve done it again. I can’t help but think this is a sign of the end times; dogs and cats living together and all that stuff.

Just Plain Bob

I was trying to play nice and you brought up “Stroker Ace.” Now I think I may be about to suffer a seizure.

Clarence Newman

Consider this, Bob. Pick-a-flick odds are about 350-1, but now you and I have colluded on World's Fastest Indian, it's down to 175-1. Two or three more recruits and we're a shoo-in.

Clarence Newman

And Stroker Ace becomes even more heinous when you consider that Burt turned down Terms of Endearment to do it!

Happy Hanukkah

RM - I'd think that single-choice is a better way to combat ringers, by allowing the anti-ringers to combine forces against it.

Happy Hanukkah

And how about the reality in which you're the one with a reaction channel and this patron called PopcornCassie keeps asking you to react to chick flicks? :-)

Richard Maurer

Well, if I had a reaction channel in this reality chick flicks and musicals would be about the only things I would have left to watch. This is why I never seriously thought about doing a reaction channel.

Richard Maurer

Clarence this might be your craziest idea yet! And by crazy I mean they should cart you off to the looney bin.

Richard Maurer

Dan - stuck with the Sci-Fi poll myself, mostly because the 2 poll leaders don’t really interest me.

Richard Maurer

HH - maybe, but I don’t recall that working much, if at all.

Richard Maurer

Okay Clarence, I’m sure that’ll work.

Ted Whalen

To piggyback off of the Downfall suggestion I would add Sophie Scholl- The Final Days to the list. In the closing scene of Downfall, Traudl Junge (Hitlers secretary) mentions that she was the same age as Sophie.

Clarence Newman

And I'll give you Dogma, Hap. Men In Black too.

Mike Lemon

Hey! I will not have any of this malarkey. Stroker Ace was born to race, he had a mean streak ten feet wide. A son-of-a-gun with a taste for fun and more than his share of pride. [He could] take a dirt road curve with the Devil's nerve and make a car dance across the mud. Hauling 'shine was his regular line 'til the track got in his blood. [He] was a real hotshot and he bragged a lot but man, that fool could drive.

Mark White

Clarence, apparently they are remaking Cannonball Run with these actors! Which parts do you think they are playing?! 😉😆 Tom cruise/jack black Scarlett Johansson / BillMurray Robert Downey Junior/Kevin hart Danial Craig Sydney Sweeney/Margot Robbie Jet li Sacha Baron Cohen Edit: swap Tom cruise for Pedro Pascal!

Clarence Newman

I googled Stroker Ace because I couldn't remember the year, Mike, and came across a Reddit post about it. Man, there are a lot of folks who think that movie's a "banger". Personally, I think it should be watched just for the scene where Loni Anderson is passed out on the bed. As for a possible remake, Mark....it simply can't be done. How does one improve on perfection? The casting looks good, but who on earth could replace Jack Elam?

Mark White

I thought my pick to replace Dean Martin with RDJ and sammy Davies jr with Kevin hart was pretty good, but Tom Cruise can’t replace Burt Reynolds so I changed my mind to Pedro Pascal! But yes, you can’t improve on perfection!

Joe J

Over 600 comments on this post, amazing!

Clay F

The Pianist is awesome and one of my favorites on the list.

Anthony Carlson

Wow! That’s the most I ever seen since I joined!

JohnnyUtah

If Beverly Hills cops loses I'll never comment again! Don't these polls usually end in 24 hours??? Come on!!! Finish it!

JohnnyUtah

For Newman I say The Color of Money, it's his best work

Anthony Carlson

It’s going to lose? I can’t see the total votes for each category, only the percentages. I’m using the app btw.

JohnnyUtah

Idk but I don't like it that close... I mean she'll watch anyway if it's razor thin I'm sure. I just feel like being overly dramatic 😅

Clay F

Dang, getting close. Only a difference of 2 votes. Maybe she will do both. I think likely would be good selections on the "based on true events" poll. As for Beverly Hills Cop, she is going to react to Beverly Hills Cop (No. 1 at popcornrequests) at some point -- she previously said she was saving BHC, implying that she will react to BHC which is expected to get a good number of YT views. CURRENT VOTES Beverly Hills Cop = 321 Based on True Events = 319 If you want to see the number of votes: 1. Go to Pollception specifically and right-click on the page and select "View page source" 2. On the view-source tab (page) that comes up, search for "num_responses" -- here there are 9 results -- 1 for the total votes and 1 for each of the 8 choices in the poll. (the search is a little cluttered).

Rick Williams

Cassie loves polls. She loves to get us all worked up and talking. And this time she does a poll on polls and throws Beverly Hills Cop in with the poll choices. Well played Cassie.

Art of Free Speech

Okay, if we're going to do a Based on True Events, please include MacFarland USA--a sports underdog story based on true events. I'd also love to see Stand and Deliver and Dangerous Minds on that list.

Matthew Brown

I still want her to see the pianist and deep water horizon

TheSingulatarian

Well a lot of the low hanging fruit of the past 40 years has already been plucked. There are still literally thousands of great movies out there that no one has watched. If movie reaction channels are going to continue someone is going to have to take the plunge. Movies are not of course the only criteria in deciding to watch a reaction. If I like the reactor(s) I will often watch a movie even if the film itself does not interest me.

TheSingulatarian

Putting in a plug for July 4th. Both "1776" and "Gettysburg" both have a strong connection to the holiday.

Doc Larry/old geezer

Society of the snow was such an intense movie brilliant I’ve seen it both ways dubbed and in the original language with subtitles. The acting was brilliant. It was an emotional roller coaster for me. I hope Cassie gets a chance to watch this movie if not on the channel just on her own. Amazing movie making.

Chris Thom

This chat's been poppin' off. Cassie sure knows how to start a party with her posts.

Chris Thom

It's the FINAL...COUN-TDOWN! Do duh doo do, do duh doo do do...also felt like being dramatic.

Chris Thom

Ugh I remember when that demon std shaped like my kindergarten teacher was chasing me for a while. Awful days. So glad the air force finally took down Godzilla.

Cole Jennett

I’m going to have to start blocking people just so I can sift through messages quicker, ha

Richard Maurer

The Air Force took down Godzilla? Are you talking about the overgrown iguana that chased Matthew Broderick? Because that wasn’t Godzilla..

Cole Jennett

If actor poll ever happens I’m hoping it’s for Denzel, if only to get a baby step closer to getting The Hurricane. Pretty clear to me that Training Day would win it

kaiielle

Awesome movie!

Anthony Carlson

Based on True Events poll might got a walk off!

Clay F

A big +1 for The Pianist (2002) (based on true story). Adrien Brody won Best Actor Oscar. Nom 7 Oscars incl. Best Picture.

Chris Thom

People love audience participation.

Chris Thom

Looks like it just pulled ahead.

Rose Cullenward

as The Impossible seems to be something you have previously see ( ? rewatch poll), Searching for Bobby Fisher is a gem, as is Fly Away Home (more loosely based though)

Tim Foppiano

Recognize a heroic true event

Aaron Mann

Totally agree on BHC. It's fine. But #1? I have no idea why. It reminds me when THE MUMMY (1999) was #1 and she finally watched it, and yeah she liked it, but it wasn't anything amazing.

Larry Darrell

3 Based on True Events… Eight Men Out (1988) Alive (1993) Thirteen Lives (2022)

Flounder

Dear Cassie, think about a "Written and directed by" poll. I would suggest Sling Blade and Sex, Lies, and Videotape for entries. Fun Trivia: Sex, Lies, and Videotape's success is what funded the production of Pulp Fiction (which is another "written and directed by" but I'm assuming you've seen it).

Gábor Árki

The movies based on true events I would like to see a reaction for: - INVICTUS (2009): Based on the story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup in a South Africa just after the Apartheid ended. - THE WORLD'S FASTEST INDIAN (2005): Based on the life of Burt Munro, and his Indian. - THIRTEEN LIVES (2022): Based on the 2018 Thai cave rescue attempt where 12 children and their lead trapped in a flooded cave. - McFARLAND, USA (2015): Based on the true story of a 1987 cross country team from McFarland. - THE FINEST HOURS (2016): Based on a daring rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952. - THE WALK (2015): The story of Philippe Petit's most daring stunt in 1974. - PRIDE (2014): The true story of a Welsh mining town reluctantly accepting the aid of a gay activist group during the 1984 miner's strike. - TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM (1988): The story of Preston Tucker, a maverick car designer who wants to build a revolutionary car challenging the big 3 from Detroit. Given the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2, maybe there could be a separate based on true events poll with the theme of WW2: - The Pianist (2002) - A Bridge Too Far (1977) - Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) - The Longest Day (1962) - Downfall (2004) - Midway (2019) - Flags of Our Fathers / Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) - Empire of the Sun (1987) - The Thin Red Line (1998)

Clarence Newman

I’d put Hud, Cool Hand Luke and The Verdict ahead of Color of Money, Johnny, but it’s definitely a good one. I think Cassie needs to go through The Hustler first, though.

Clarence Newman

Mark. RDJ could definitely pull off Dean Martin, but you can’t have Sydney and Margot as the Lambo girls. They’re both blonde. I’d substitute one of them for Emma Stone.

Wesley White

Since the "Based on True Events" Poll seems to be winning, "Iron Will (94)" is a good one to put on that poll since it is based on a true story! Besides "Iron Will (94)", other's I'd recommend would be: "Raging Bull (80)" "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)" "Ray (2004)" "A Beautiful Mind (2001)" "Gorillas In The Mist (88)" "Operation Mincemeat (2021)" That's a good one! Honorable mention is one that just came out last year which I personally saw in the theater: "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)" That one was AWESOME!!!! 😁👍

Clarence Newman

I swear to God. If Beverly Hills Cop doesn’t win and Cassie doesn’t just watch it anyway…..exasperation will ensue.

Clarence Newman

+1 for Raging Bull. I would +1 A Beautiful Mind too, but I'm sure she's seen it.

Clarence Newman

+1 for WORLD'S FASTEST INDIAN, which should always be written in BLOCK CAPITALS so it won't be missed. (Note: the "Indian" in the title is a motorbike.)

Clarence Newman

I'd also add "Reach For The Sky", a 1956 biopic about Douglas Bader, the most famous of Britain's pilots in the pivotal "Battle of Britain" 1940. Had we lost that battle, the rest might not have mattered. Uplifting, humorous, with a great performance by Kenneth More.

Clay F

She has seen both Zero Dark Thirty and A Beautiful Mind

Clay F

She will watch BHC anyway at some point -- she previously said she was saving BHC for when the channel wanted a bump in YT views. Do you have any suggestions for the "based on true events" poll?

Clay F

+1 for INVICTUS (2009). Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela. +1 for McFARLAND, USA (2015). Kevin Costner. Inspirational. +1 for The Pianist (2002). Adrien Brody won Best Actor Oscar. +1 for Empire of the Sun (1987). 13-year old Christian Bale. +1 for The Thin Red Line (1998). +1 for Letters from Iwo Jima (2006).

Clay F

80s Sci Fi dropped 1%. Still a strong 3rd. I agree with the poll results having Disaster Movie and AI/Robot Movie as the bottom 2.

Clarence Newman

Only because people are switching their vote to whichever of the top 2 they'd rather win, Clay (or, just as likely, voting against the one they don't want to win.) This is the problem with only being allowed to vote for one thing.

Clarence Newman

True events movies? Reach For The Sky (1956) - The story of Douglas Bader, famous pilot from the Battle of Britain. Mutiny On The Bounty (1962) Bonnie & Clyde (1967) Papillon (1973) - Watched it recently. Even better than I remembered! The Elephant Man (1980) Raging Bull (1980) World's Fastest Indian (2003) - My pick. Anthony Hopkins is superb. Wolf of Wall Street (2013) - Can't quite believe Cassie hasn't seen it, but it's not on Letterbox. I would include "Noah" (2014), but when I did that before, I got pelted with tomatoes.

Clay F

Adding a vote can happen with multiple choice voting. For instance, say I voted Actor, Director, and Rewatch. Then later, I added a vote for BHC (which I really don't like) simply because I didn't want Based on True Events to win.

Clarence Newman

Yes, but subtracting a vote generally only happens in a single-vote poll.

Clay F

Yes, generally, for the most part.

Clay F

Suggested candidates for Based on True Events poll: 1. “The Pianist” (2002). Adrien Brody won Best Actor Oscar. 2. “Cry Freedom” (1987). Denzel Washington nom Best Actor Oscar. 3. “Lion” (2016). Nom 6 Oscars incl. Best Picture, Best Actor (Dev Patel). 4. “Bridge of Spies” (2015) [Spielberg]. Nom 6 Oscars incl. Best Picture. 5. “Escape from Alcatraz” (1979) [RT=97%]. Clint Eastwood. 6. “The Queen” (2006) [RT=97%]. Hellen Mirren won Best Actress Oscar. 7. “Charlie Wilson’s War” (2007). Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts 8. “The Last Emperor” (1987). Won 9 Oscars including Best Picture. 9. “Empire of the Sun” (1987 [Spielberg]. Nom 6 Oscars. Christian Bale age 13. 10. “The Thin Red Line” (1998). Nom 7 Oscars incl. Best Picture. 11. “Capote” (2005). Phillip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor Oscar. 12. “Hotel Rwanda” (2004). Don Cheadle nom Best Actor Oscar.

Dean Holt

I was voting for 80s Sci-Fi but switched to Beverly Hills Cop. As I just want her to watch something fun for a change.

Clay F

I just checked. Based on True Events is leading Beverly Hills Cop by 10 votes. Dean, take solace that she will react to BHC at some point -- I think sooner than later.

Chris Thom

Kubrick/Spielberg's AI would make for an interesting reaction on this channel I think. That and Bicentennial Man are pretty much my only suggestions for that poll. Can't remember if she ever watched Ex Machina.

Chris Thom

Empire, Bridge, Queen and Capote would get my vote.

Chris Thom

I'm scared for us if the Exasperation Posts start flying. That's a hell I don't even want to imagine.

Chris Thom

I need to see Gorillas in the Mist. Been meaning to see that since high school.

Chris Thom

Never heard of Downfall but it keeps getting brought up in these comments. Apparently it's popular.

Gábor Árki

I'm sure you've seen at least one scene from it. The endless number of meme videos where Hitler is ranting about something with fake subtitles are based on a scene from this movie.

Clay F

Those 4 are awesome.

Ike

“Yes, Yes, Yes!” on TORA, TORA, TORA! I foresee a total attention investment with Cassie on this one. I think it’s something Carly (with her natural strategic mind) would like also.

Catherine LW

I will have to look for the Quiz Show reactions. Never saw them anywhere.

Catherine LW

Ted, yes! Sophie Scholl - the Final Days is another great film. I would love to see a reaction to that!

Richard Maurer

Cassie just made an upcoming post explaining what she’ be doing in relation to this poll, so you can all go over there and find out.

Chris Thom

We're soooo close to 700 though.

Richard Maurer

Not that close, but feel free to post away if it’s that important to you :-)

SeanATX

Will never win the poll but IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER for true events movie

Chris Thom

It's a bizarre goal but I am dedicated to it for some reason.

Ted Whalen

Catherine, unfortunately, I don't think that there will ever be enough interest for Cassie to do a reaction to this movie. However, I would suggest that she watches this movie on her own. I think that this will help answer some of the questions Cassie has had regarding what the German public knew about what was happening to the Jewish population. Additionally, I think that this is just a really inspirational story.

Clarence Newman

To paraphrase Bill Bixby, "Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

David Collins

Lion gets my vote. That one stuck with me for a long time. Ever since I saw it, really.

Phillip Bates

Lion, Bridge of Spies, and Escape from Alcatraz get my vote... plus Spotlight, which is such a great film.

bgb1975 (Brian)

No way! That's a mistake! I demand a recount!

Clay F

Good one.

Clay F

David -- Lion had the same effect on me. I am close with my mom, and close with my kids. Phillip -- as you can see, those 3 are in my top 5. She has seen Spotlight -- great movie.

Richard Maurer

I’m guessing Cassie will still do what she said in the update post.

Richard Maurer

Commenting because Chris Thom desperately needs the comments to get to 700.

Clay F

CURRENT VOTES Based on True Events = 348 Beverly Hills Cop = 334 Doesn't matter because she said she is doing both. But this comment inches the number of comments toward 700.

Mark White

Everest” 2015 true Event pole suggestion (just in case it’s missed on Update!) Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke and Robin Wright.

Catherine LW

Sophie Scholl (and her brother Hans and their friend Cristophe Probst) should never be forgotten for their courage. When people criticize the German public for not standing up to the Nazi regime, this film will show the consequences they faced. Another great film is Terrence Malik’s A Hidden Life, true story about an Austrian farmer who refused to serve in Hitler’s army. Beautiful films about human courage in the face of death.

Catherine LW

Malik used this quote from author George Eliot as a theme for A Hidden Life: “… for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill for you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life and rest in unvisited tombs”.

Rick Williams

Beverly Hills Cop is the #1 requested movie but it never win. How bizarre.

Rick Williams

What's the big deal about 700? I prefer even numbers.

Richard Maurer

Rick - Ask Chris Thom, he’s the one who got all exited about it. Personally, I don’t care.

Chris Thom

It has been COMPLETED. Such a pretty number. Possibly a record? Edit: Yup channel record. The polls are almost always the most commented and I scrolled through them and this one has the most. Kind of neat for four plus years in that people are still so engaged and sharing their thoughts and feelings and knowledge. Props to Cassie for maintaining the community. And to everyone who takes the time to communicate and make this fun and informative and cathartic. Seriously thanks. It's a really nice thing.

Mark White

Does anyone know if Cassie has seen “The Kings Speech” 2010? if not, its one to add in to the true events poll list.

Chris Thom

That is pretty weird.

Mark White

Totally agree Chris. Well said.

Gábor Árki

It is also marked as watched

Mark White

Thanks Gabor, I thought it might have been. But worth asking.

Clarence Newman

Nah, I don't like Cassie that much. The only reason I'm here is because "I GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GOOOOO!"

Mark White

Thanks again Gabor. Now that is surprising! I can’t imagine Cassie watching that?! It’s not exactly a Rom-com!

Ted Whalen

Catherine. 100% agree about the courage of Sophie, Hans and Christopher. I will have to check out A Hidden Life (it looks like it is a good movie).

Gábor Árki

These are not 100% reliable. The Million Dollar Baby was also marked as already watched for a long time, and after someone was able to ask Cassie to double check, she realized she has never seen it.

Clay F

BHC did strong in the poll. While I thought BHC would win, it's hard for a single movie to win against a category that voters latch onto. The category represents certain favorite movies in the minds of voters. I wonder what the results would be for a poll having only these 2 choices: Yes -- watch Beverly Hills Cop No -- don't watch Beverly Hills Cop Would the Yes vote reach 50%? Probably. Would the Yes vote reach 60%? Probably not. My guess.

Mark White

Chris, I pretty sure Cassie watched Ex Machina on the channel.

Clay F

Yes, she reacted to Ex Machina

Happy Hanukkah

Since it seems that "Based on True Events" will win, I demand that the poll include Bloodsport (1988)!!! :-P :-P :-P

Anthony Carlson

Based on True Events poll got 28% of the vote. BHC got 26%. Not bad guys! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Chris Thom

I think it was The Quest that was based on a real tournament. All participants dressed as complete stereotypes. It was incredible.

Chris Thom

If the poll hid the real time results I'm curious if that would change the outcome much.

Happy Hanukkah

The Quest: "A group of gentlemen of fortune visits a legendary 'Lost City', located in Tibet. They plan to steal a priceless statue 'Golden Dragon' during the martial arts tournament." Ah, that Frank Dux. Incorrigible! :-)

Clay F

FINAL VOTE COUNT Based on True Events – 353 [27.5%] Beverly Hills Cop – 337 [26.3%] 80s Sci Fi – 218 Actor – 123 Rewatch – 84 Director – 69 Disaster – 66 AI/Robot – 32 Edit: She said she is doing both Based on True Events and BHC. My top 3 choices in order were Based on True Events, Director, Actor. My bottom 2 choices were Disaster, AI/Robot, which happens to agree w/the poll results.

MikeLL

I'm kinda shocked that BHC didn't win in the end. Too bad. Maybe Cassie will call an audible and watch it anyway.

Joe J

Curious how Cassie will source the films for the true events poll. I must have seem 100 suggestions, lol. She normally does A-B polls, but that's just 16 films usually. She could do movie bracket voting with 32 films. (4) brackets by a genre (Sports, Crime, etc.).

I'm glad Re-watches didn't gain much traction. I've accepted we'll get a few each year for YT views, but Cassie knows it's a polarizing topic with patrons.

Joe J

Mike, she said in the Update she will watch BHC.

You don't know how lucky you are, Richard. You've got "KatWatches Horror Movies" to go to. I'm still waiting for "GladysWatches CannonballRun"!

Clay F

Yeah, she said she is doing both. I am editing my post to add that.

Richard Maurer

That would be a real niche channel - with you as its only Patreon member.

Clarence Newman

If she needs help with the list, she can always DM all of us who are me.

I think she mentioned she considering doing 2 polls for Based on True Events. Thus, would not be limited by genre. She could do 16 candidates each A-B poll with approval style voting for a total of 32 movies. The first reactor (PiB was my 2nd) I subscribed to regularly does polls with 16+ candidates, and seems fine. I think the limit for the number of choices in a Patreon poll is somewhere in the range of 20-25. For the 2 polls (A-B), could do 8, 10, or 12 choices per poll, if not 16. I would be fine with 8 per each of the 2 polls (total 16), but Based on True Events does seem like a broad category. I like the idea of throwing a lot of movies out there and letting the voting patrons decide. I would be fine with 4 polls each having 8 candidates for the total of 32 movies. But I don't think the 32 movies would neatly fit into 4 genres. That adds complexity. Might result in good/popular movies being excluded. Possibly could segregate based on criterion other than genre, or could group genres. Or just randomly place the 32 movies in the 4 polls. One of the 4 polls could be pre-1970.

I think one or two rewatches a year is fine. I welcome that. Likely stellar movies. Her rewatches with Carly have proven to be a rich experience and giving stunning numbers of YT views. I see 2 categories (there may be more) to choose from for the total one or two rewatches per year: 1. Cassie rewatch/Carly first watch. 2. Cassie rewatch in which Cassie doesn't really remember the movie, especially such as with extenuating circumstances, for example, watched the movie 20+ years ago as a kid and didn't pay attention (e.g., there were distractions and/or she wasn't into it) -- a scenario giving first impressions in the reaction. As for #2, I hope Cassie makes an executive decision (no poll) to rewatch Moneyball she doesn't really remember. She wants to rewatch Moneyball and thus might as well do it on channel, especially because of her description of why/how she doesn't remember Moneyball. As for #1, my top choice is Good Will Hunting. She could make an executive decision or include Good Will Hunting in a poll with other iconic movies (e.g., Forrest Gump, etc.) that Carly has not seen.

Joe J

Good suggestions Clay. Randomly place 32 movies in 4 polls seems the best approach IMO. One poll for pre-70 is realistically the only way any older film stands any chance.

At least some weight is going to be given to the requests app. People on here suggesting some obscure movie no one has heard of is a waste of a spot on a poll anyways

Mike Lemon

"...suggesting some obscure movie..." Hey...

Chris Thom

Hoping there will be at least 15 entries. It's going to be really hard to choose.

Chris Thom

I always liked Anthony Hopkins in Nixon. Another good Oliver Stone movie. Hasn't been brought up here much, but I hope it makes it onto the poll somehow. Or eventually. Frost/Nixon is good too.

Clay F

Nixon is good. Frost/Nixon is even better. I wonder if comments will reach 800?

The Pianist for one its one of the greatest films Cassie hasn't seen yet. Winner of multiple Academy Awards Including Best Actor, Best Director it will never be good as Schindler's List. However There is something The Pianist has. It seems more real. Polanski his parents, siblings were all killed in in the Shoah. He lived through this. https://photos.app.goo.gl/qc2HXr6YW5T3Ek5Q9

Chris Thom

Didn't know that was a Roman Polanski film. I've always associated him with slow burn thrillers like Rosemary's Baby or Ghost Writer, or the Johnny Depp hell one.

Clay F

The Pianist (2002) (based on true events) is an important film that everyone should watch at least once. Awesome movie. Roman Polanski won Oscar for Best Director. Adrien Brody won Oscar for Best Actor.

I think a pool top picks of maybe 4-8 polls would work. Then randomly select one. Or, maybe on a live hang-out, have a randomly selected viewer pick one of those. Actually, I like the latter better. Gives us Patreons an incentive to join the livestreams!

JohnnyUtah

Well looks like the fix is in and the poll was left up longer than every other poll! Shame, looks like I'll just take a break until Beverly Hills is Cop is watched and justice is served!

JohnnyUtah

Final vote my eye, this poll was left up longer than any other in history!!!

Chris Thom

It closed a few days ago. Think it was only up for 48 hours.

JohnnyUtah

Bevey hills cop had the lead after 48 hours!

Clarence Newman

Relax, Johnny. Cassie has already said she's going to watch BHC too.

JohnnyUtah

I am relaxed, thanks though.

Clay F

I think the poll was active for about 4 days -- did seem rather long.

JohnnyUtah

Felt like an eternity lol
