Can’t wait!

Cassie

Comments

Lamar Smith

What does one have to do to get ‘Friday Night Lights’ chosen?

Bill Maurer

Enjoy your time in Canada. See Banff if you have the time

Cole Jennett

Win the drawing I expect.😉

Lamar Smith

Been putting out there long these three years

Richard Maurer

Just make sure mine gets picked this time, Cassie - just kidding! ;-). Wouldn’t want you to cheat for me ;-). ;-) because that would be wrong ! ;-). ;-) ;-)

2-Can

Well, requesting The Court Jester (1955) would help. That’s been my pick and it hasn’t been close to winning. So if you submit it, that would increase the odds that it will be something else, which would thus elevate Friday Night Lights’ chances. You should give it a try.

Edgar Gonzalez

Hey, if you ever get that kind of pull, let me in on it dude 😆

Dan M

I’m quick to think my Pick A Flick pick will stick. Oh frick, wait a tick! If not, I may be sick. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Richard Maurer

Pretty sure I have whatever the opposite is of that kind of pull.

Dan M

You see, Richard, that would be impossible, because I’m positive she’s going to make sure MINE gets picked this time. 😉

Cole Jennett

She’s seen the TV series but not the movie Richard

Dave

Excellent - I am glad you aren't trying to squeeze it in tonite - get back to vacationing!

Richard Maurer

I’m sure Cassie will pick your’s Dan - right, Cassie? ;-)

Richard Maurer

Okay, good luck then. But even if she had seen it, is there a rule against asking for a re-watch?

Mark Vaderr

Ready for A Saturday drawing the day after Independence Day!

clutchkman

It's cool having the chance to pick a flick. Have a great Fourth! 🎇

Daniel Karlsson

Alright people get ready for the korean masterpiece The Handmaiden!

My_Cousin_Mose

Dan, the only person here with any less of a shot at winning than you is Mike Lemon.

Erik Locquiao

I will give Cassie all the money in my wallet to win this month…which should be enough for a small bag of popcorn from the theater,…no drink.

Clay F

+1 for Friday Night Lights (2004). She liked the TV series so she might be receptive to the movie. Not a rewatch. The movie is different than series so would be a first impression.

Clay F

+1 for The Handmaiden.

Chris Thom

Just finished Handmaid's Tale on Hulu this week. Don't know if they're related at all.

Chris Thom

Yay I actually remembered to submit this month.

Mike Lemon

@Richard- Yes. 1. Content Restrictions: -(e) Must be a movie I've never seen (check out my Letterboxd for movies I've seen).

Mark T

Michael Madsen passed away Thursday morning at the age of 67. I think there should be a Michael Madsen movie tribute. Cassie, you haven't seen Reservoir Dogs or Donnie Brasco, either of those would be great movies to react to.

Clarence Newman

Yes, but she should ease her way in with Thelma & Louise (1991). Then she'll be ready for the role that got Madsen banned from Dancing With The Stars.

Richard Maurer

Now that you write it out Mike it does seem familiar. I’m glad she’s not doing re-watches in PaF.

Mark T

I agree it's a great choice, but he did have a small role in Thelma and Louise compared to Reservoir Dogs or Donnie Brasco.

Clarence Newman

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends - may your celebration of 1776 be sunny and full of beer. Everyone here in Britain knows we were robbed, though, because your winning goal was clearly offside.

Clarence Newman

I'm with you, Mark, it has to be Reservoir Dogs. But we can't pass up the chance to slip Thelma & Louise in there too.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Dangit! Won't be able to be there to accept my prize! But glad for the advance notice!

Cole Jennett

I think she will find a little more to like in Donnie Brasco. Based on a true story always goes over well.

Clarence Newman

The fact that Carly isn't going to be with you on the Jaws 2 reaction - is that because she happens to have other plans or because she will always have other plans if you try and make her watch it? If it's merely scheduling and she is actually eager to see how the big, cuddly fish story turns out, I'm happy for you to wait till she's available. It's been far too long since you did a joint reaction with The Blue Blanket.

Clarence Newman

More to like than in Thelma & Louise? Are you crazy, Montana?

JohnnyUtah

The suspense might be the end of me!!!

Uncle Phoenix

Woohoo. Happy Fourth of July. 🇺🇸

Gray

Lots of entries this month, Hoping the replay of the live will be up not long after it airs for those of us who can't make it. The downfall of it being on patreon is playing the waiting game instead of it instantly being on YT.

Joe J

We haven't yet had a niche film win. As usual, if I can't win I just hope for a good action, horror, or sci-fi film get's chosen. Well over 400 submissions for June. I still want to see the films submitted each month.

Stephen Dias

Personally, I don't see the need for movies like "Jaws 2: This Time, It's Personal." Was there anything left unsaid in the first movie? I've never seen this one before, so I really don't know.

Clay F

I think she would like both (1) Donnie Brasco and (2) Thelma & Louise.

Clay F

With well over 400 submissions for June, I wouldn't get too worked up about the possibility of your entry winning. But most participants can get worked up about the possibility of a good movie that you like winning. I am hoping for a drama, romance, war, western, historical, true story, and/or Oscar nominee, but will be happy with any good movie that I like.

Clarence Newman

I kind of agree, Stephen. I would’ve been happy if Cassie left it at the original. The only reason I’ve been enthusiastic about the possibility of Jaws 2 is because it presented a rare (these days) chance to have a more animated Carly reaction - the expectation being that if Carly was there for the first, she would surely be there for the second. To hear that she won’t be is disappointing, and, as you say, renders a reaction to the sequel, if not redundant, then certainly less appealing.

Joe J

Clay - because I really like TBR Schmitt's reactions, I'm playing his PAF for a few months. Nice that he only has 125 or so entries each month. Also, he will post any niche/obscure movie to YT, doesn't have to worry about views as the channel is not his primary source of income.

Clay F

Joe - same with Hold Down A (“Ames) — my first reactor. In 2003 (or early 2004), I won her PAF when only a handful of entries. I haven’t done a hard count, but she reacts to more pre-1980 movies than post-1980 movies. She goes way back -- she has reacted to silent movies.

Clarence Newman

Clay! You are NOT telling us there were reaction sites on YouTube as early as 2003!

Clay F

Hold Down A -- current pollception-type poll that ended today (July 4) on Hold Down A channel. Pre-1970 won. Approval style (multiple) voting. I was disappointed -- my top choices (2000 to present, drama, war, and western) all finished at bottom. Ames current POLLCEPTION (14 choices) -- final number of votes. --Summer Blockbusters (even ones I've seen when younger) - 37 --Director Debuts/Early Nuggets - 16 --Pre 1970's - 50 --2000's to present - 23 --Another Runner up Lottery Spin - 28 --Free for All/Genreless - 37 --Animation - 22 --Drama - 22 --FILM NOIR 1940's-1960 - 40 --War - 19 --Western - 24 --Martial Arts - 17 --Action/Comedy - 44 --Horror - 28 SCI-FI Commonly she has sci-fi as a choice, which seems to always win if included. She likes sci-fi (a fav of hers), so she doesn't mind sci-fi winning. I like sci-fi but got tired of sci-fi winning all the time. Thus, I was happy to see sci-fi excluded here, but then pre-1970 wins which there already is a ton of pre-1970 movies on the channel.

Clarence Newman

Have we not? The Intouchables and A Monster Calls were well niche. I think we’re due a blockbuster.

Joe J

Clay - I like Hold Down A (Ames). The downside is she only posts around one reaction a week.

Joe J

Yeah, a blockbuster would be nice. Nothing wrong with the winners so far...just not my personal cup of tea.

Joe J

Jaws 2 is just a rinse & repeat. Be curious if it does good numbers on YT for Cassie. For a shark movie "The Meg" would have been a more enjoyable choice IMO.

Richard Maurer

Ames irritated me by posting a good reaction to Fellowship of the Ring - then stopping there, even though it did well for her. This is basically reacting to 1/3 of a movie then stopping. A ridiculous mistake.

Clay F

Joe -- to the contrary, she regularly posts at least 3 full reactions per week. Plus, she gives the dates for the reactions at the beginning of the week and sticks to it. She recently started select episodes of TNG, so getting a 45-minute episode for a full reaction. She also reacted to LoU S2 but each episode was an extra full reaction during the given week.

Joe J

Clay - I was referring to her YT postings. Only (8) YT postings since May 11.

Joe J

Richard - did she say why she stopped with LoTR?

Richard Maurer

As to what I’d like to see reacted to (other than my own pick) - anything that isn’t mainstream, but preferably in one of my favorite genres - horror, fantasy, martial arts, or just about any underground grindhouse style films. Basically outside the box of what Cassie normally watches here.

Richard Maurer

I’d was glad when D&D won. And A Monster Calls was a good pick too.

Clarence Newman

Something extremely unusual has already happened today. Cassie dropped her last like on Richard’s post instead of stopping at Edgar’s. I think we might be getting Horror of Dracula, people!

Richard Maurer

Joe - not that I know of. If it had done poorly for her it would make more sense. Maybe she expected it to do better? But at this point in reactions everyone has done LotR, it’s not going to bring the 500k to 1.5 million numbers of the past, none of the old reliables will. That’s just speculation on my part though, I have no real idea why she still hasn’t continued with it 6 months later.

Richard Maurer

Deep Blue Sea is the only Shark movie I like. Because it’s the only well made one where the Sharks have actual cause to behave like monsters.

Cole Jennett

“More to like” in Donnie Brasco than Reservoir Dogs, that is. I was replying to the original post

Chris Thom

Carly is waiting patiently for What Lies Beneath 2.

Clay F

She gets decent views on YT but doesn’t seemed too concerned with posting on YT. She does the edits herself. I don’t think she is focused on income. Both her and her husband have regular jobs. She trying to be an actor, e.g., having an acting coach and going to auditions. She likes Patreon and Discord. She posted a full reaction to Two Towers on Patreon. I think LOTR may be rewatches for her. She is generally focused on older movies but gets newer movies with her weekly lottery spin (a PAF) — and also likes select newer movies herself.

Please react to TOOTSIE!! 🫶🎥🧝‍♀️🧝‍♀️🍿👏👏🫶🫶

TheSingulatarian

1/4 of one percent. Still better odds than the lottery.

Joe J

Thanks for explaining that Clay, I was perplexed why she wasn't posting more reactions to YT.

Chris Thom

Can we see the list for June anywhere? Only one I could see was July.

Clay F

TheSingulatarian -- that's not saying much. Here, for PAF, you could enter every month for years, and unlikely to win.

Anthony Carlson

Off topic: I know Michael Madsen passed away, but another actor is gone. Julian McMahon, the original Doctor Doom, of Nip/Tuck and Charmed fame, passed away two days ago. RIP. Edit: He was 56.

Stephen Dias

Happy Independence Day! Last night, I watched PiB's reaction to "Shakespeare In Love" again. Today, I thought it fitting to watch "1776," a musical about the Continental Congress and signing of the Declaration of Independence. I was involved in a stage production years ago; it has some great scenes and music. In the 1972 movie, Blythe Danner (Gwyneth Paltrow's mom, FYI) appears as Martha Jefferson; she has a bit of balcony scene herself in this movie. I'd forgotten she was in it.

K, Zachary

I think you have a better chance of getting into a auto accident then getting your movie picked. My gf is nodding her head saying it's true We are on our way back from Chicago. Cubs hit 8 home runs today. I guess there were saying it was a franchise record. I got relatives coming in from Mass. In two weeks for the Red Sox game.

Richard Maurer

You’re more optimistic than I am Clarence.

Chris Thom

Didn't know that was a musical.

MikeLL

1776 is one of the best movies to watch on Independence Day. I'd love for Cassie to watch it!

Mike Lemon

"the original Doctor Doom" Well, no. For live-action that was Joseph Culp (apparently it was Henry Ramer for animated), but McMahon is the one I think of when I hear "Dr. Doom". Looking through his filmography, he really wasn't in much. That's pretty surprising, he was a good actor.

Anthony Carlson

@Mike Lemon Indeed. Didn’t know about John Culprit or Henry Ramer.

fire12wife

While disturbing, probably true! Winning the Powerball lottery is probably easier, too! Although nothing against Cassie (and Carly, too), I'd much rather win the Powerball!!!

Richard Maurer

Unlike the lottery you don’t have to waste any money on PaF. I wondered briefly about what If Cassie did charge extra for PaF, but I’m not sure Patreon would allow it, and I don’t think Cassie would want to do that either. But that would probably increase odds in the players favor and allow you to enter again after a win so it wouldn’t be that bad imo.

Stephen Dias

Agreed. I think she'd appreciate it.

Joe J

Richard - I still favor Cassie drawing two winners every other month. Add some spice and give patrons some more hope. These odds are brutal, lol.

Vlad D

nothing yet

Richard Maurer

Joe - I’m for almost anything that increases the odds of winning.

Richard Maurer

Just kidding Cassie, you replied before I could post it.

Aaron Mann

Hey guys, what movie was selected?

Clarence Newman

It was over before it started. As usual, I felt like Jimmy Braddock, standing outside the factory gates with 400 other guys, hoping to be picked for work detail so I can give my kids more than sawdust and wallpaper to eat. Times is hard.

Joe J

Might be another one that doesn't get a YT edit.

Mike Lemon

People- check the Letterboxd link before submitting your movie. I saw a couple in the spreadsheet that are on the "already watched" list.

Clay F

Looks like has Natalie Wood as a kid.

Clay F

I was unable to attend but just skimmed through the chat. Congrats to the winner. The winning pick has Natalie Wood as a kid. I will watch that reaction. Saw GoT mentioned -- definitely looking forward to GoT in August. Other content mentioned in chat I support: Lost in Translation, Thelma & Louise, Donnie Brasco, Empire of the Sun, Children of Men, Reservoir Dogs, Thunderbolts, Blues Brothers, To Catch a Thief, Rob Roy, Oscar Best Pictures, Sopranos, and True Blood. I saw that Mark and Joe J mention me -- I have gone down Guadalupe River many times (raft, canoe, kayak). Such tragedy in current event. Prone to flooding over decades. I watched F1 in IMAX last night. I liked it. Two trailers of note in IMAX before F1 started: (1) the new Superman trailer (done well), but didn't look like my kind of movie -- yet I will go see Superman in IMAX if friends who know my tastes recommend Superman -- the effects did look good; and (2) F4 trailer (done well) but I am unsure -- never been into Fantastic Four -- probably will not go see F4 -- though I am a fan of Vanessa Kirby. She's beautiful and a good actor. She is awesome in The Crown as Elizabeth's sister (Princess Margaret). Cost of my F1 IMAX ticket at AMC Theater = $21.49 - $2 senior discount + $2.69 convenience fee for buying ticket online + $1.83 taxes = $24.01

Clay F

Thanks Joe. A dang good list.

Clay F

Another reactor does her PAF weekly, though she does skip weeks. There was one month she only did her PAF (3 times per week) b/c she was busy and did not want to do polls or decide on content.

Clay F

George G

How do I check to see if my PAF submission went through?

Richard Maurer

Right below the link for submissions is a link to check if your submission went through.

Richard Maurer

Not sure why but that page is different from the one I use. Maybe one of the mods could help you. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Chris Thom

Natalie Wood was very talented. Didn't see any of her work until fairly recently.

George G

No worries, thanks for trying!
