Thanks everyone for being there! We had a few hundred people on the live. Sorry for the glitches but we figured it out. It's always much harder recording here in Canada .. Anyway, spoilers for the draw below!

Congrats to Wildmax on winning this month's draw! They chose the movie "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)"! As per usual I'll watch it before the next PAF drawing.

If you're part of the Kernel Club or higher make sure to submit your pick for next months drawing. You can do that here: https://go.popcorninbed.com/PickAFlick

Thanks for joining and good luck next month everyone!

Doc Larry/old geezer

It is such a joy being part of this community, even through the sad stuff which makes us a True online family. The Movie is an excellent choice. Congratulations to the winner. Cassie, my heart goes out to your family. My prayers are with them.

Chris Thom

Something about a summer camp? What happened?

Mark Vaderr

Cassie, Julie and I, express our deepest sympathies to your family. We are very sorry for your loss. I wrote to you a couple of times in the chat, but you may have missed it and I thought it would bring some good cheer to you right now. Kat Watches Horror Movies had a LIVE chat today to celebrate her 100k subscribers on YouTube. Your name was brought up a few times during the chat, and it was great hearing what she had to say about you. Cassie, if you ever do a simulcast/collaboration reaction, please make it with Kat. The two of you together would be a real treat. Best wishes to you, my friend. I'm going to keep nominating Nosferatu until I win!

JohnnyUtah

Easy pass. Get em next time.

Rene G.

yeah and Kat will force her to watch some of her horror stuff OUTSIDE the usual "Halloween only horror reactions" type of youtuber rule.

Richard Maurer

Mark - second the collaboration with Kat. They could call it Cassie and Kat Watch Horror Movies….. or Kat and Cassie Watch Mainstream Movies. I don’t care which as long as they do a collaboration.

Collar City Guy

The floods in Texas that killed 40 plus people took the lives of three young campers from an all girls summer camp and sadly there are a bunch more still missing

Richard Maurer

There was a TV show based on this movie in 68 too.

Collar City Guy

Sorry very sorry to hear of your family's loss. My prayers will be with you, your extended family and the people of Texas

Frank Edwards

Thanks for posting this for us Cassie, and I am very sorry for your loss

Chris Thom

A lot of entries this month. Nice to see the participation. Sorry I didn't quite understand what was happening with extended family but hope you're alright.

Edgar Gonzalez

I'm sorry for your loss Cassie. I know how awful it must feel, but there will be good days ahead of you, I promise you that ❤️

Eric C.

Remember, you get to submit one movie for pick-a-flick per month. I already see the same name has submitted multiple times. Like, so many times.

Anthony Carlson

@Richard Maurer I deleted my comment by mistake. I didn’t know there was a show in the 60’s based on the movie.

Stuart Guthrie

Cassie I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Cole Jennett

Only one will count though. They are probably going to get themselves banned if they keep it up month to month.

Cole Jennett

Was Kat the one that she joined the podcast with to discuss Poltergeist?

Mark Vaderr

Not necessarily. Kat has watched horror movies that Cassie has watched that fall outside of "Cassie's Rules". The Birds, Frankenstein, Godzilla, and Godzilla Minus One. They could find something to watch that would be just fine.

Richard Maurer

Cole - if she was on a podcast I didn’t see it. Which one was it?

Mark Vaderr

Richard- Were you able to watch, Kat's LIVE today? It was fun hearing what she has planned. She and Cassie would be great together.

Mark Vaderr

I doubt that's who it was, Cole. Kat talked a little about Cassie today, and she did not mention Poltergeist. You should check out Kat's channel, she's great.

Popcorn In Bed

Only the most recent pick will count. The rest are discarded

Richard Maurer

While we’re at it check to see if Cassie has already watched your PaF choice. It’s in the rules that she won’t do re-watches so you’re just wasting your time - and hers. You can check on Letterboxd or Popcorn Requests to see if she’s seen your pick.

Mike Lemon

Dang it. All these drawing so far and I have never seen my name get popped. I'm guessing it's always in that jumble at the beginning.

Rene G.

she made a cameo in the Poppy awards for announcing Best scary movie category reaction.

Rene G.

I had a field day flooding her pick a flick horror suggestions on her spreadsheet this july. She's gonna have a blast on this one. Mwahhahaha

Clay F

I saw Spotlight (2015) submitted by sio1996, which she has already seen.

Clay F

For GoT reaction frequency, I suggest a single reaction slot (w/2 episodes) each week. For most series you have reacted to, you had more than 1 episode per reaction slot.

Cole Jennett

You know that’s a pain in the ass for Ben I’m sure. Why would you submit more than one?

Cole Jennett

Richard, shortly after she reacted to Poltergeist, she was asked to join a podcast with 2 men and one woman to discuss the movie. The woman seemed pretty versed in horror, so thought there was a chance. If you go back that far you may find a link to it. Nvm, I found it, and the woman seems to be a regular so it wasn’t her

David Freese

Sorry I missed the live because it would be my first live now again after some changes to get back on track here on Patreon they cut the link where I can't get in. I'll watch tomorrow. I dont know why everyone is giving condolences yet but whatever happened I hope it works out and ill have you in my prayers until I watch the video and find out.

Clay F

Submitted entries that she has already "seen" per popcornrequests: The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) Unstoppable (2010) Darkest Hour (2017) Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (2019) Slumdog Millionaire (2008) Spotlight (2015) That Thing You Do! (1996) Rounders (1998)

Mark Vaderr

Richard-The Good news is that it's posted on her channel.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

I'm really sorry to hear about your extended family’s loss, Cassie. I heard about the flooding in Texas. It looked pretty bad. I'm from Tennessee, and it looked like we were getting hit with some of that same rough weather too. Sorry I missed your live video. Congrats to the winner though! I've been in Kentucky with my family for their reunion, spending time with them and setting off a few fireworks for the 4th this weekend. I hope you're having good time in Canada. I've been in Canada for our family vacation years ago. It was fun and my second time being outside of the U.S.! First time was Ireland! You're welcome Cassie! 😊🇨🇦🇺🇸

keoma songs

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir is an enjoyable romance, and fits nicely next to Somewhere in Time, A Matter of Life & Death, and Portrait of Jennie. Portrait of Jennie I would rate least of them but still nice

Dave

A field day? Really? All you've done is given Ben more work to do. It's not enough he has to comb through the 100's of submissions to weed out the duplicates every month - now you've given him even more duplicates to weed through Congratulations. I don't think they're going to have a blast with what you've done.

Ted Whalen

Cassie- I am so sorry to hear about your extended families loss. Thoughts and prayers for your family.

Gray

Glad this got posted so quickly as I was stuck at work (i'm one of those poor buggers who works weekends), do still miss the chat replay so hopefully patreon implement it at somepoint. New film to me but i'll watch it ofcourse i'm sure it will be good. Sorry to hear the sad news for your family and also those in the terrible floods.

My_Cousin_Mose

I'm so sorry to hear about your tragedy in the family. I'll pray for all of you.

Ian Tonge

I actually managed to join this one live, which was really nice. I'm not sure why everyone is down on the Fantastic Four movies. The mid 2000s movies were super fun (Michael Chiklis as The Thing was perfection!) and the new one looks pretty good too. Maybe I have low standards? Lots of great nominations this month. I've never heard of The Ghost and Mrs Muir, but it sounds like an excellent pick. Congrats to WildMax!

My_Cousin_Mose

Once you start watching Game of Thrones good luck on being able to go over a week without watching an episode.

Ginko

Sorry to hear about your family.

Chris

has she said at what pace she plans to watch it at? how many ep a week?

John DiGiantomasso

My family used to watch that when it was a TV series back in the 1960s!

Carol_White

By the second season it gets so dull that this shouldn't be a problem.

Struzzylive

I only got to see her live for less than a minute, and then she turned it off

Clarence Newman

Pick-a-flick gaslighted me last month. I know I made an entry in the first week of June, but when I checked on the last day, it wasn't there. I uploaded another one just to be sure and after a few minutes it appeared with the 6/30 entry date. Problem solved. Or so I thought. Thing is, that second entry was for Papillon (1973), but when Cassie scrolled through the list and my name came up, it said Cannonball Run instead. Another legendary movie, of course (I don't deal in anything else), but that's not the point. I'm assuming Cannonball Run was my first pick, but why would the algorithm revert to that one if I'd made a new entry? No big deal, and I'm assuming it's because Ben has to go through and manually delete the duplicates. I'm just curious. Had I won (and I came within about 400 of doing so), the world would have been unjustly robbed of a Papillon reaction.

Clarence Newman

That was a glitch, Struzzy. She came back afterwards and completed it.

Clarence Newman

By the "second" season, Carol? Not sure you'll find too many people who agree with that.

Struzzylive

Yea it couldn’t get back into it, I back a few folk on Patreon but navigating the how to go to lives is hard

Clarence Newman

That she's seen Unstoppable hurts my heart. Would've been a great reaction.

Clarence Newman

Wrong, Mike. I did quick pause all the way through and yours actually came out quite late.

Clarence Newman

I mostly agree, but part of me wants most people to leave so I'm only up against 5 other picks. Cassie, please try to be more obnoxious.

Clarence Newman

She could watch The Fly with Kat. It would be like going into a fight with John Cena by your side. Far less scary.

Mike Lemon

Really? I watched at .25 speed and didn't see it. Going to have to watch again.

Clarence Newman

Was my first time on a live, mate, and I had trouble too. Had to reboot before the video would come up. Takes a bit of practice, I think.

Mike Lemon

Found it. It shot behind her head so I missed it the first time.

Clarence Newman

I never saw mine at all. I think it's pre-removed.

Struzzylive

I’ve live streamed for years on twitch, it’s shocking how I can’t rub 2 and 2 together here lol

Joe J

Management always says it's only the last entry that counts...so management made an error.

Clarence Newman

Ah. Then management owes me a reaction to both films? That seems fair.

Ted Whalen

I think at the end of the session Cassie mentioned a couple of places to make flood relief donations. It would be great if someone could update the landing page with the list of the donation sites.

Mark Vaderr

Kat's already seen The Fly. I was thinking that a movie like "Buried" would be a good reaction for them.

My_Cousin_Mose

She said in the live that probably 1 upload a week (for other shows she often did 2 episodes per upload) but also that some weeks she might skip a GoT upload. That's why I said good luck with that.

kaiielle

OMG I was #3! So close to winning hahahaha. Congrats to Wildmax!

Joe J

All those films submitted, and only (34) I could get excited about. Some others were just middling and the rest a no-go. My beloved sci-fi and action genres were not well represented this month. These (10) were my favorites this month. Not ranked. 2001: A Space Odyssey Forbidden Planet 1956 Horror of Dracula 1958 Ip Man (2008) Mr. Brooks (2007) Reign of Fire 2002 The Blues Brothers (1980) The Fog (1980) The Hustler 1961 Three Days of the Condor (1975)

Joe J

The pain is real when you come that close, lol.

Richard Maurer

I always hope for less mainstream films, and am always disappointed.

Clarence Newman

I saw your bit of corn pop out, Richard. Mine followed shortly after. From Joe's list, 2001 and Blues Brothers are good, but the gold bar is The Hustler.

Clarence Newman

You're a better person than me, Kaiielle. If I'd got that close, it would've been the waxing scene from 40 Year Old Virgin all over again.

Joe J

I'm fine with both mainstream and less mainstream/niche....as long as I like the film, lol.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - I watched on my phone, and can’t read any of it when I do, so I’ll take your word for it.

Lindsay L

Congrats to Wildmax! I still feel like a winner even though my kernel clearly didn’t make it 😅 Not going to lie, I nerded out when Cassie read my submission comment 😂

Clay F

Yeah -- I am thinking 2 episodes per upload once per week. Then, she might skip a week ocassionally -- and will be hard for her b/c she will be incredibly invested through S8.

Ignis Rændl

those poor wee girls... absolutely heartbreaking. 🙏 condolences to their loved ones.aa

Doc Larry/old geezer

You’ve probably heard already on the news. There was a tragedy in Texas Christian summer camp where children were killed. also Cassie had a death in her family, distant relative. This is a wonderful online community People support one another..

Billy DuBose

AHHHHHHHHH MANNNN. I WAS SO SO CLOSE. 2ND TO LAST. (I'm rockstarbd82) hahaha. Still that was exciting almost seeing my name get it. Here's to hoping I might win another time and that TRANSFOMERS: THE MOVIE 86' finally gets Cassie's reaction. YOU GOT THE TOUCH!!!! YOU GOT THE POWAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Clarence Newman

Guys. I've figured out why some people don't see their name pop out of the pan, no matter how much they slow the video down. I didn't see mine the first time (I was using the pause-play-pause-play method), but I've just gone through again at 0.25 speed and have discovered two things: Number 1 - Cassie's voice at 0.25 speed is either the cutest thing ever or the scariest thing ever. Either way, there are hard drugs involved. And number 2 - Some of us don't see our name pop out BECAUSE THE NAME NEVER ACTUALLY POPS OUT! I caught sight of mine at about 21:44, doing a steady, upward arc towards the top left hand curve of the pan. It then stopped (with just enough of my first name showing so I could see it was me), before continuing its arc back into the centre of the pan where it came to a final stop. It sat there for a few seconds, buried in other names, flashed off and on twice, then disappeared. Flag on the play, Cassie! You owe me a Cannonball Run reaction on the grounds that my bit of popcorn never actually left the pan. Technically, it just lay there getting overcrispy.

Clarence Newman

You're a better man than me, Billy. I would've topped myself with repeated blows to the head from a laptop.

Mike Lemon

I have already asked the guy who made it for a list of the people popped to be on the side somewhere. I got a hesitant 'maybe' when he gets some time.

Mike Lemon

You are so cruel, requesting the movie that broke every boy that saw it that year. edit- forgot the (jk)

SeanATX

The floods in Texas and tragedy at Camp Mystic is devastating. I went to the boys camp just across the river as a kid, and know many families whose kids still go to Mystic.

Clay F

"... only (34) I could get excited about. Some others were just middling ..." Doesn't look like the odds are that great for you but not horrible. There are at least 120 on the list I would not mind a reaction -- so my odds are 1 in 4.

Grad

Mike: I experimented with a list on the side. I felt like it became too much of a distraction. Focus split between the list and the popcorns. Maybe a list at the end?

Stephen Dias

My name survived until near the end. It was cool to see; I've often wondered, "is my name even out there in that jumble?"

Mike Lemon

We know at the end if we lost, the problem is we can't see in the big jumble inside the "pan". Maybe just have the latest one or two who "popped" in the upper left (or right)?

bgb1975 (Brian)

450 entries. Well, if no one else joins the upper tiers, everyone will get their movie watched within the next 40 years!

Richard Maurer

And if I’m the last one picked, which is likely, I’ll only be 102 when that happens!…….. ya know, maybe we need a way to speed up this process?

bgb1975 (Brian)

I wouldn't mind seeing a drawing twice a month!

Richard Maurer

I’d like that too. I’m not sure if Cassie would however.

Mike Lemon

I would say, "only 100-ish." Imagine what could have been. While still tragic, just 100 is miracles and heroism.

Clarence Newman

She wouldn't have to do a draw twice a month, she would just need to watch the top 2 from the one draw. Double the wins, zero extra time out of her day.

Clarence Newman

I do believe it's already broken poor Flag, though.

Anthony Carlson

@Mike Lemon It could have been worse, but usually I never hear flash flood killing that many before.

Marvin Just Marvin

Gene Tierney is awesome. This movie should be fun to watch with Cassie. I remember when I was little there was a t.v. series based off this story\movie.

Grad

I can try it, but ... Idk. It's still a distraction. You're not supposed to be looking at the corner of the screen during the draw.

Mike Lemon

If it stays in the center during the pop, you can't see anything anyway.

Clarence Newman

Grad. Fully understand it's a pain, but for me, it would be helpful if all bits of corn actually popped out of the pan. As I said, mine popped, spiralled around inside the pan (and therefore within the jumble) for a few seconds, then disappeared. I only spotted it by doing some slowed-down, close screen analysis. Not the biggest of deals, mate. In the end, the winner is the winner. It would just be more fun if you could track your own kernel.

bgb1975 (Brian)

I'm so sorry, Kaiielle! I got into the final 20 (or thereabouts) a month or two ago, and I'm still struggling to recover.

Grad

I'll try to come up with something.

Kaye Brown

The Ghost and Mrs Muir is one of my favourite movies. I'm so excited that you're watching this! The score is just beautiful, I listen to it a lot when I'm driving or studying. I hope you'll like it!
