Collar City Guy

Thanks Cassie, now I've finally seen every "A Christmas Carol" ever made, however t's a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie.

John Liebling

An American Christmas Carol starring Henry Winkler would be a good watch for Cassie.

james sweeney

The best one is 1951, Alistair Sim and the Disney animated version is very good too.

Ryan Thompson

The 1970 version with Albert Finney is my favorite

2-Can

Dickens, you magnificent bast@^d, I READ YOUR BOOOOK!!!

Stuart Guthrie

Some of my favorite Christmas movies are The Homecoming (1971), A Christmas Carol (1951), A Christmas Carol (1938), Home Alone (1990), Home Alone 2(1992), and A Christmas Story(1983). This is the first time I've seen this version and I really like it

Bill W

Cassie, Fred was played by Welsh-American actor Roger Rees. Many of us first took note of him in his recurring role of Robin Colcord on the sitcom Cheers. You may remember him as the Sheriff of Rottingham in Robin Hood: Men In Tights. Ebeneezer's sister was played by Joanne Whalley, who was married to Val Kilmer. They met on the set of Willow. Mr. Poole was played by Michael Gough who portrayed Alfred in the first 4 Batman movies (1989-1997)

Cole Jennett

It’s been awhile since she’s seen it but he also played the British ambassador on The West Wing

Happy Hanukkah

Joanne Whalley? THE Joanne Whalley who played such a crucial role in The Island of Dr. Moreau? :-P I keep Lord John Marbury's memory alive on this channel by periodically bringing up his flu remedy.

Happy Hanukkah

Albert Finney thanks you very much. That compliment's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for him.

David Livingston

This is definitely one of my favorite versions!! I first saw the Muppets version last night. I have to see the version with Patrick Stewart, the version with Albert Finney, and the one with Jim Carrey. I also watched the Hulu version (2019 with Guy Pearce and Andy Serkis) a few days ago. It's a miniseries (3 episodes and almost 3 hours long), but it was very good - different, but good.

Mike Lemon

No you haven't. The 1908 one is a lost film. But have you really seen the 15 or 16 others, plus two if you want to include the Muppets and Mickey? Why?

Collar City Guy

No, I guess I haven't. Naively, I thought there was only 6 movies, just googled it and it states there have been over a hundred adaptations, I stand corrected!

Clay F

If you watch the version w/Patrick Stewart, you can watch along with Cassie's full reaction if you have access to her full reactions. Or you can watch the YT edit of her reaction after you watch the movie.

Clay F

George C. Scott is a good actor.

Mike Lemon

Yeah, I saw the list and was surprised how many there were. I thought there would be 20-ish with about half of that named "A Christmas Carol" and, boy, was I wrong.

Richard Maurer

This version might be my favorite, thanks mostly to George C. Scott’s acting talent.

ScrubbleDub

Another version that really doesn’t seem to be talked about much is the Disney animated version. The one with Jim Carrey. The George C Scott version and the Disney version are actually my favorites. The animation is quite haunting and very well done in my opinion.

Clarence Newman

In case Cassie is looking to drop a special Christmas/New Year's poll for her patrons, here's The A-Z of All We Want For Christmas..... A Hard Day’s Night (1964) for Silver Machine Bjorn Karlsson’s Show Me Love (1998) Cannonball Luke Cool Bullitt Inferno for me Donnie Brasco (1997) for Milton Reduxed Eyes Wide Shut (1999) for Shehab Dawoud Falling Down (1993) for bgb1975 (Brian) Game of Thrones till the end of time for all the GoT fans Horror of Dracula (1958) for Richard Maurer Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995) to sweeten Mike’s Lemon Just Plain Bob’s Fastest Indian (2005) Klute (1971) for Chris McQuarrie Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998) for Mark White Midnight Run (1988) for Super Powered Design (Jim) and Johnny A Night of the Hunter (1955) for fastecp1 On The Waterfront (1954) for Celeste McAllister Philadelphia Story (1940) for Mike LL and more Polls for Joe J Quick poll of Chris Thom’s favourite movies Robin Williams poll for Dan M Stick Figure’s King Kong (2005) Ted Whalen’s Heroes (aka Kelly’s Heroes, 1970) Under Siege (1992) for a sizable number of us Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) for Clay F (The) Wrestler (2008) for Shawn Kildal All the X-patrons who left because they gave up on getting a reaction to their favourite movie. May they all drop soon so your stampeding return pushes Cassie over 500k. Yuletide rewatch of The Holiday with Carly Zardoz for all the Howard the Duck voters who like that sort of thing To all those I appear to have forgotten, I did not forget. I only had 26 slots and it's not as easy as I thought to find your fave movies. I can only conclude that the wheels on the above patrons are the most squeaky.

Clarence Newman

With sincereness in great abundance, I would like to wish everyone at PiB - the talent, the staff and the patrons - a really Happy Christmas. Happy Hannukah to Happy Hannukah, and thanks to all of you for making this such a great and Above Average Dave of a place to come and unwind during and after a long day. In here, a Byrd N Hand is definitely worth 2-Can in a bush and it remains my Singulatarian most favourite place on the internet. Before I actually forget (as if I ever could), Happy Christmas to the most precious soul in the reactorverse and her equally precious (if subordinate due to heinous infrequency of appearance) baby sister. We love you both two-dimensionally, and occasionally three, but will reserve a fourth until you start giving the 1960s some righteous love. I believe I speak for everyone on that, including those who don’t know it yet. And also to Ben’s arm. We don’t see it often, but it’s good to know it’s there, editing reactions when Matt is off the rezzie, helping you churn out your ever-enjoyable content and comforting you when you’re sick. I am wondering how long it will be before Ben gets a Special Achievement Poppy like Andy Serkis’s Oscar, because he deserves himself some lovin'. Happy Christmas to everyone who makes this place the sparkling diamond in a steaming cow pat that it has turned out to be. Enjoy the holidays and I’ll see you all in ’26.

2-Can

Attaboy, Clarence!

Mike Lemon

F was a surprise, I would have gone with *that* movie, for justice.

Ria Grix

Fun fact. When Charles Dickens died, he had become so integral to the very idea of Christmas that apparently children were said to have asked if there would still be a Christmas without him.

Clarence Newman

Yes, but that one’s covered in X, Mike. I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen the poor fella since.

Richard Maurer

She should just watch them all! - don’t you just hate when someone comments that? It never happens, and even if the commenter is engaging in hyperbole it’s not like it hasn’t been commented literal thousands of times before……. Anyway, thanks Clarence, I hope we all get at least one of the movies we really want this year.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - That’s exactly what I was thinking. ;-) Happy Holidays, brother-in-cinematic-arms.

MikeLL

Hear, hear, Clarence. All very well said again. I guess I will go ahead and change my Flick Pick to The Philadelphia Story. I have been picking Cagney's Yankee Doodle Dandy the last few months, but I don't think it will land with her as well as Philadelphia. I know how she has stated she wants to see Philadelphia (The Story, that is) but we all know how her wants turn into years and I want to get on with it!

Stephen Dias

I'd heard of this version, but had never seen it before. It is great. The setting and cinematography were beautiful. Many well-known actors too; I was surprised.

Ted Whalen

Clarence- this is a great list!

Mike Lemon

@Richard- It's only 25 movies, only one every other week! Surely she can fit that in. The least she could do is an 18 week/9 movie trial run (alphabetical of course) to see how it works out.

Clarence Newman

That would work, Mike, but as there are 4 movies in letter C, Indictment would miss out. Spookily enough, it does add up to 25 movies.

Clarence Newman

By the way, a little birdie just told me that Richard has upgraded to Extra Butter. There goes the neighbourhood.

Richard Maurer

Start with movies beginning with H or D, depending on if you use the US title or not.

Silver Machine

Not bad for an 80's TV movie, though I can't quite buy George C. Scott as an Englishman. And David Warner is an interesting choice for Bob Cratchit. He played so many iconic villains in his career, like Gul Madred in Star Trek: TNG 'Chain of Command'.

Happy Hanukkah

And a most Clarence Newman to you! :-)

Jamie van Brewen

I'm American and this was my introduction to George C. Scott. I was surprised when I learned he 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵 English. The next movie I saw him in was Patton, and WOW! Was that ever a shift in character type! The next role I saw him in after that was in the movie Firestarter, where he played a homicidal government hit man! Yeah, dude was nothing if not versatile! And I LOVE this movie! It's the only version of this tale that I really like.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Jamie - If you like George C. Scott, check out "The Hospital". It's an entertaining one. I wouldn't call it a comedy, but there is some funny stuff on hospital bureaucracy. George C. Scott was great in it.

Joe J

I need to complain more, right? But surprisingly I actually got some movies I liked this year, some examples would be The Planet of the Apes (68), Enter The Dragon, Duel, The Fly, Final Destination, Three Days of the Condor, The Outlaw Josey Wells, and the Superman movies. And of course my personal favorite has to be Shakespeare in Love.....😆

Richard Maurer

Joe - I watched more full reactions this year than ever before, and I’m famous for my complaining - draw from that what conclusions you may.

Clarence Newman

It's true, Joe. He's complaining about having more full reactions to watch this year and also about being famous. It's the Emo in him, I think.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - You are main source of my complaints. If it weren’t for you I would be known for my tolerance.

Clarence Newman

Once more, your mouth opens and ka-ka tumbles out. Cassie loves me cos she said so on the live. How can one blame her when talking to me is like sitting in front of a waterfall cuddling a puppy while Enya plays in the background.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" is my favorite of his books. And probably in my top two of fiction. I would love to see Cassie and Carly react to the Ronald Coleman version of the movie. Such a classic!

Richard Maurer

I could have taken the easy route and just praise everything that goes on here. But I decided to be honest.

Clarence Newman

It may pain you to hear this, but you do still have a decency filter, though. There are a few nimrods on here (occasionals who just come in to be snarky) who don’t.

Richard Maurer

I said honest, not mean, but I get your point.

Clarence Newman

Oh no, you’re definitely mean. I sometimes weep. Cassie also mentioned you on the live. Did you see it? It’s at 1:56.00.

Richard Maurer

Nope. I’ll check it out. I’m not above interest at the idea Cassie mentioning me. And I joined extra butter mostly for the beta test, I wanted to see how requests worked at full capacity. I may stay with it for a while. I’ve been posting pictures of some of my tarantulas to liven up the place up a bit. But money’s tight these days so I don’t know how long I’ll be on it. Knowing you I’m assuming the “mention” is probably one of your poor attempts at a joke, but I’ll bite anyway.

Clarence Newman

No, this was one of my all-time greats. You will be both impressed and highly amused.

Clarence Newman

Just checked out your tarantula pics. They look well cuddly.

Richard Maurer

Clarence, if I hadn’t checked the length of the extra butter live your “joke” might got me. As it stands it was just as effective and funny as any of your other “jokes”.

Richard Maurer

Sure Clarence, why are you trying to fool me, like you fool yourself into believing your jokes are funny?

Clarence Newman

I speak the truth, I tell you. And in the immortal words of Lieutenant Hauck in Good Morning Vietnam, “In my heart, I know that I’m funny!”
