Greetings! Nothing in particular to say about the movie, so just a wave to y'all and stay safe over there.

Trevor Rotan

Bob was never the guy, he was THE MAN! He didn’t participate in Hollywood. He hated interviews, kept his life private, and just do the work. He wasn’t a heartthrob, just the best at what he did.

Miss Lee

LOVE this movie! I’m scared you’re not gonna like it😩 *yay! You did!

Miss Lee

Bob was DEFINITELY a heartthrob 😉

bgb1975 (Brian)

"She hurt you, Jack?" "Yeah." "I'm sorry." "What are you sorry about?" "I'm sorry you're hurt." "I'm not hurt." "You just said you were hurt." "I'm not hurt!" "You just said you were hurt!" "I didn't say I was hurt! You said I was hurt!" "I asked you if you were hurt, and you said 'Yeah, I'm hurt'" "That's because you....you made me say it. You're starting to put words in my mouth!" "Jack, you're a grown man! You have control over your own words!" "You're g-- d--- right I do! So here come two words for you: shut the f--- up!"

Dorsalfinsky

“…then I’m going to sit down, have a nice meal, then…”

Richard Maurer

Not a bad movie, good one in fact, but I still don’t get the high esteem with which it’s held by some people.

Richard Maurer

Cassie - you asked if De Niro was ever considered a “heartthrob”. A girl group named Bananarama wrote a song called Robert De Niro’s Waiting and from what I remember of the lyrics they seemed to find him attractive - at least in Godfather II.

Doc Larry/old geezer

Cassie, congratulations on reaching 500,000 subscribers on YouTube—you truly deserve double that. Your channel is one of the most wholesome and genuinely fun spaces on social media, made for people who truly love movies. I’m really looking forward to you continuing your Game of Thrones journey—your reactions are priceless. I’ve been a bit tied up lately submitting two papers for publication, which has been quite the process, but even while navigating my own challenges, I wanted to say congratulations. I can’t wait to see your channel reach one million subscribers—you’ve earned it.

Tom Castro

I love it that you FINALLY got around to it as I've requested you to do this for quite a while. I just wish Carly would've joined you. I think it'd be great if you re-watched it with her. :-)

Clay F

YT views = 29k after 1 day

Mark White

That was a lot of fun.

Mark White

That takes me back to my childhood!

Richard Maurer

That’s not really good, at least it wasn’t in the past. Is this the new normal?

Clay F

Not that good, even by today's standards.

Joe J

Cassie's bad luck continues with her PPoTM.😆 Some other recent movies that were DOA. The Rainmaker (30k in 13 days) The Manchurian Candidate (22k in 1 month) In the Name of the Father (41 in over a month)

Joe J

I don't see it either Richard. Stick is over the moon with the film, reminds me of Clay with Lost in Translation. I guess I need to promote my favorites more. Hey Cassie, Predator 2....don't forget now. 😆

Richard Maurer

She always mentions newer, more popular films she’d like to watch, yet when they become available for streaming she never makes them her PPotM. I don’t understand why not? She doesn’t have to do it every month, but once in a while would certainly help her YouTube views.

Richard Maurer

The way Stick and several other people talk you’d think it was the funniest film ever. Like I said, it’s good - but there are many funnier films out there.

Joe J

Cassie is clueless when it comes to the timing of new releases. Well, at least she has Justice League coming up to get some much needed views, lol.

Stick Figure Studios

@Joe J - What makes it great imo is it's tightrope walking balance of its various elements (the action, the humor, the drama) as well as just being impeccably crafted in its various areas (the script, the music, the editing, the performances, etc). It's flawlessly cast from the two leads right down to the bit parts (the kid sitting next to Jack on the plane, the woman who declines Jack's credit card... there is not a weak link in the chain) and somehow it makes it all look so effortless. I don't think it's the funniest film ever made because I don't think it's trying to be. It is a comedy certainly and it is hilarious, but it is also a thrilling action flick and an emotional drama that takes itself just seriously enough at the right times (the scene with Jack's ex-wife and daughter is beautifully handled and simply heartbreaking). It is very restrained and never indulgent (even the film's climax at the airport isn't just another shoot-em-up, but a showdown of strategy, intelligence and gradually building suspense). It is also, in spite of the violence (which is relatively tame and pretty bloodless) and frequent use of "F*ck", a surprisingly good-natured movie. It is not mean or ugly or nasty or sleazy or edgy. Cassie even commented at one point asking "How can a film with 162 uses of the F-word be so charming?" Well, it ain't easy to be sure, but MIDNIGHT RUN achieves it. By no means is it the greatest movie ever made (although I don't think such a thing even exists), but It is one of my favorites and as with those, there's obviously a certain amount of subjectivity involved. I've always liked it and always thought it was good, but as I've gotten older and seen more and more the level of quality of most everything else that's out there (past and present) I realize that I've kind of undervalued it simply because this kind of output was more common but, as the saying goes, they don't make them like this anymore and I've gotten much better at appreciating it's excellence. It's not cinematic high art like 2001 or CITIZEN KANE or APOCALYPSE NOW or THE TREE OF LIFE, but it's more like CASABLANCA. In terms of traditional Hollywood studio filmmaking/storytelling, I don't think it's ever been equaled (let alone surpassed) and I can't think of anything that could be done to it that would improve upon it in any way. It's superb. Just a gem of a movie and I'd like to think it's not just nostalgia that makes me hold it in such high esteem. I'm not sure how you would classify PREDATOR 2, but I have other favorites that I can acknowledge aren't very good or aren't very popular and while I would love for Cassie to see those, I hope that I'm somewhat discerning in what I suggest to her because I also always knew that she would love MIDNIGHT RUN. It's why I sent her the Blu-Ray of it several years back and submitted it as one of my picks when I won trivia night. This means she has now seen two of the five I selected. Just CITIZEN GAME, CITY LIGHTS and THE FISHER KING to go. Hopefully she is gaining a bit more confidence in the caliber of my movie recommendations. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

I kind of had a feeling it wouldn't be a huge money-maker for the channel because it's sort of an underrated gem that not a lot of people really know about, but thankfully most of those who do truly appreciate it and something like PIB could help introduce it to more folks.

Cole Jennett

The Rainmaker numbers aren’t really fair as it had been released once before and a lot of people wouldn’t have tuned in a second time.

Richard Maurer

LotR is the greatest film ever made - imo.

Mark White

Under siege will get 100k

Clay F

Children of Men might get 100k? That's probably reaching. 100k is hard to reach these days. Stick makes a good point -- the channel introduced me to Midnight Run and I liked it. May not revere it as much as he does but I enjoyed and appreciated it, and glad I watched it. Joe - Yeah, her PPOTM often doesn't do well with views but The Manchurian Candidate (2004) (won a poll) and In the Name of the Father (PAF winner) were not PPOTM.

Richard Maurer

Cole - even if The Rainmaker hadn’t been taken down it wouldn’t have broken 100k - even 70k is probably too much to ask.

Joe J

Mark - Cassie said she is reacting to Borat, it should get 200k, people like to see her lose her mind, lol.

Cole Jennett

Richard, I think you’re right, just wanted to point out there ought to have been an asterisk

Joe J

How would I classify Predator 2? Very entertaining...which is by far the most important criteria for me. I have many favorite films...be tough to pick just one all-time favorite. Most of my favorites do fall in the sci-fi and action genres.

Clarence Newman

Borat should be on a double bill with Ali G In Da House.

Clarence Newman

Mark. Who said she's watching Under Siege?

Clarence Newman

To be fair, Richard has a track record of not getting the greatness of certain classic movies. And, by the way, the greatest movie ever made is Cool Hand Luke.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - all I need to do to invalidate your comment is to mention that you think Cannonball Run is a good movie.

Clarence Newman

Ah, but his wording strongly suggested that Cassie had stated, nay confirmed, that she would be watching it - as evidenced by his use of the word "will" instead of "would". You understand my confusion, right?

Clay F

I see Under Siege mentioned but not by her that I've seen. Under Siege is my favorite Steven Seagal movie. No. 91 at PR. I think would get more views than Midnight Run. Likely the only Seagal movie I would watch. She has mentioned Children of Men multiple times.

Mark White

Clarence, no, just me saying, IF Cassie watched it, for me it would reach 100k on YT. I did say “WILL” I see my mistake!

Mark White

To be fare, Under Siege is most likely a going to be watched at some point.

Mark White

Agreed Clay, I think for me it’s the only Seagal movie I would rewatch.

Mark White

Really Joe?!!! Borat! That’s going to be an Interesting reaction! 😂

Clarence Newman

Exhibit A, your Honour. The greatness of Dom De Luise as a fat superhero, Dean Martin perfectly cast as a guy who's always drunk, and Farrah Fawcett running around with no bra on is completely lost on this guy. Stick. Most of your remaining films are bangers, but I've seen Citizen Kane and I am less than enthused. A perfect solution would be to replace Kane with your very own namesake movie - "Stick" with Burt Reynolds (1985). Underappreciated in its time and ours.

Stick Figure Studios

UNDER SIEGE 2 ain't too bad either. The only other film that has Steven segal in it I like is EXECUTIVE DECISION.

Clarence Newman

We need a big push on Under Siege. Cassie would enjoy it and we would....you know...Erika and the big cake. As for Seagal's movies, I would add Out For Justice as a good one. "Has anybody seen Richie? I'm gonna keep coming back here till someone remembers seeing Richie."

Stick Figure Studios

@Clarence: Richard just has his very specific (and arguably frustratingly narrow) kinds of movies that he likes and there's nothing wrong with that. He and I just tend to disagree on what constitutes a great film (or even a worthwhile genre) and we're both very passionate about our opinions, so it's gotten pretty tense and ugly between us in the past and I still feel bad about some of our previous interactions (I even had him blocked for a bit, but I ultimately unblocked him because I even felt bad about that... now I just try not to engage with him so it doesn't get out of hand again). COOL HAND LUKE is a great movie though and also one of my favorites. I can certainly state definitively what I consider to be the greatest film I've ever seen (THE TREE OF LIFE), but I still wouldn't say it's the "greatest film ever made," although I do believe it's up there.

Mark White

Stick I do like a sequel and I have seen Under Siege 2. I felt it was ok, not good but not terrible. I just don’t think I could go as far, as too ask for a reaction to it, if Cassie does watch the first one.

Clarence Newman

Tree of Life? Not seen that. The 2011 one, right?

Stick Figure Studios

@Joe J - Well, entertainment value is certainly a worthy criteria for movies (especially one's favorite/s), but for me it's not quite as important as I think It is for a lot of other people. Thus, I can have a movie I love which I can admit is not very good (like VAN HELSING). I just wasn't sure if that was how you categorized PREDATOR 2: as a "guilty pleasure" (a bad movie you love) or an actual good movie.

Stick Figure Studios

@Clarence: Yes, starring Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, Sean Penn and directed by Terrence Malick. Not an especially conventional or popular film (so as much as I'd love to see a reaction to it, I doubt it'll ever happen), but I think it's sublime. It, no exaggeration, changed my life. Not many films you can say that about. Sorry to hear you're not enthuses about CITIZEN KANE. :-( As I said, I don't really believe in a "greatest film ever made," but if I did, KANE would be a worthy candidate (and indeed it was considered so by many cinephiles for several decades). Have never seen STICK, so can't really have an informed opinion on it.

Clarence Newman

I might watch that tomorrow night, Stick. I love the odd unconventional drama. Nebraska blew me away.

Joe J

Predator 2 is for sure a good movie IMO. Excellent cast, good acting, good direction, and the pacing is spot on.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - I’ve come to accept your constant state of confusion, but I can’t say I understand it

Ria Grix

Is it just me or does Cassie’s blanket look like a caramel McFlurry?

Stick Figure Studios

@Clarence: Just be prepared for a very unique and poetic piece of work. There is a story of sorts (and it is partially autobiographical in nature), but Malick's films tend to be less about their narratives or characters and more about their ideas, themes and images. I find them incredibly beautiful and profound, but a lot of people find them boring and pretentious (not unlike 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY). You have been warned.

Stick Figure Studios

@Joe J: Fair enough. Maybe we can get a reaction to it then. After all, she already seen the original and PREY.

Richard Maurer

Stick - while I remember when (and presumably why) you blocked me, I have never had a problem with you, just disagreements on certain subjects - that I see no good reason to rehash. But if disagreements were the standard for me to have a problem with the people here I’d literally have blocked everyone by now. The only thing you do that bothers me (slightly, anyway) is insist that I have a narrow range of film interests - which is just not true. Yes, I have my favorite genres, but don’t most people? And I have a couple of genres I don’t particularly like, but again don’t most people? Overall though I like certain films from pretty much every genre. And in my favorite genre, horror, I have pointed out in the past that many of the films in said genre are bad and most are mediocre. Truth is, film genre-wise, I like smattering of everything and most of none of them. I was one of the people advocating for Lawrence of Arabia to win its poll, in case you didn’t notice. I have noticed you won’t reply directly to me and have to admit that only encourages me to occasionally direct comments at you, because it’s amusing to me, but that’s just my strange sense of humor and no offense is meant.

Stick Figure Studios

@Richard: Fair enough. If I have mis-characterized your range of interest in films, film genres and/or film eras, then I apologize.

Richard Maurer

Thank you. And I’ll do my best to avoid any unnecessary disagreements with you.

Richard Maurer

By the way. Clarence, Cool Hand Luke is a great movie - just not Lord of the Rings great.
