Hey friends, whats poppin?

I hope you had a good Valentines weekend. Ours was nice and chill, despite being in mourning (iykyk) .We did a cute heart-shaped-french-toast breakfast with the kids, Ben and I went to a comedy show-it was only ok haha but the date night was fun; and some girlfriends got together-we each brought a dozen of our favorite flowers and made little cute bouquets for ourselves.

Ok as I type this-I just saw Robert Duvall passed away :( so sad, he was so great in everything I saw him in and reminded me so so much of one of my grandpas. It was uncanny. I think my favorites I have seen are Open Range and Days of Thunder. The Judge and Secondhand Lions have both high on my watchlist. We have lost some great ones lately haven't we? I will wear my Purolator hat with pride today.

This week we have Moonstuck, Logan's Run and we return to the seven kingdoms, despite it all, we must keep fighting for the good. I'm channeling Brienne of Tarth and we press on. Next week will be Bullet Train, Sense and Sensibility, Birdcage and GOT. I haven't forgotten about our runner uppers either. I plan on watching The Day the Earth Stood Still, Oblivion, Philadelphia Story and Awakenings (maybe PAUL even)-March will be our runner upper month and don't forget about PIB MARCH MADNESS! This is always SO fun! And the FIFTH ANNUAL POPPIES in March-woah, March is going to be crazy!

ALSO FEBRUARY LIVE THIS SATURDAY! I am going to try and do them more often so they are a little less long each time? This one is going to be pretty casual!

EXTRA BUTTER LIVE will be 2/23 as well!

All good things. All good things.

Thanks for everything my loyal Sers.

Moonstruck and GOT! Anybody here from the Patreon fam listen to Cher? Oh and R.I.P Rober Duvall...the old Consigliere passed away yesterday. 🙏

Obie Brown

Cassie keeping the GOT train going, choo choo!

MGCR

Brilliant. The sixth season is amazing.

HugoBoss435

La La Land….please 🙏🏼

Alex Villarreal

Wow. Logan’s Run won a poll? Huh. Interesting.

KyloJames

Yay! Can’t wait for S6 GoT, and Bullet Train next week! 🙌🙌

Katie Sivak

Please watch Hope Floats with Carly Southpaw F1 with Carly

Alex Gorell

Moonstruck is one of few movies where I can tolerate Nicholas Cage.

Geoff S.

Moonstruck and Logan's Run sounds like a fun week! I think Carly would love Moonstruck too.

Cole Jennett

It Could Happen to You, and The Family Man are my two most tolerable Nic Cage movies.

Cole Jennett

Wow! Someone is on top of it!

Joshua Campbell

Please watch Breakdown & Mission Impossible 8 with Carly.

JohnnyUtah

So happy GoT continues, maybe too happy...

Travis Tate

I will Robert Duvall greatly but rejoice that he got to share himself with us for so many decades. Rest In Peace Gus.

Gray

Lots of good things coming up and glad you continuing with GoT straight away and not having a break. I'll have to watch the live another day but i'll be about for the extra butter atleast Perhaps a Duvall Poll?

Just Plain Bob

In honor of the passing of one of the all-time great actors, here’s some suggestions for a Robert Duvall poll. To be clear, I think Cassie should watch all of these but understand that’s not in the cards. *MASH (1970) - Robert Altman anti-war classic *The Outfit (1973) - excellent adaptation of the second Parker novel *Killer Elite (1975) - Duvall re-teams with James Caan as rival mercenaries *The Eagle Has Landed (1976) - Duvall, Michael Caine and Donald Sutherland in a classic war thriller *Colors (1988) - Duvall and Sean Penn fight street crime *Lonesome Dove (1989) - Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones in one of the all-time great westerns; Cassie wanted to fall in love with a new western and this definitely fits the bill *Falling Down (1993) - Duvall and Michael Douglas in a story about a guy that’s having a bad day

Gray

what not even The Wicker Man ? hahaha

Clay F

Wow, dies at 95. A great actor. R.I.P.

Collar City Guy

RIP Robert Duvall. He made many fantastic movies but he had some memorable roles on TV especially in the Twilight Zone and The Fugitive in the 1960s, and of course Lonesome Dove the miniseries which I think you would love Cassie it's another great western with him in it.

Richard Maurer

Question: Will the movies for March Madness be taken from the old version of Popcorn Requests, or the new version. I wouldn’t be mad if they came from the new one.

Popcorn In Bed

oh i have heard so many good things about lonesome dove and the description for falling down in very intriguing ha

Clay F

Leaving Las Vegas is my favorite Nic Cage performance. His only Oscar win. I also liked him in Wild at Heart but I have nostalgia and like Elvis.

nick bell

At long last...Moonstruck. You'll love it

Clay F

It was close. Won by 4 votes. Tight.

Nick Ireland

Great couple of weeks coming up!

Clarence Newman

I listen to Cher, Edgar, but only when I get around to her folder in my A to Z run-through. She did some good stuff.

Uncle Phoenix

Second Hand Lions was so good. And I was blown away by the BTS of Oblivion.

Gray

new one needs a tidy though couple of films she's seen already still on the list.

Samuel Champ

Season 6, GOT. Never had a doubt. You're doing great with it, btw. 😊

Brent Petty

Cassie, you can react to Lonesome Dove in honor of Robert Duvall. It also stars Tommy Lee Jones and Danny Glover. One of the greatest westerns ever.

SeanATX

Robert Duvall’s greatest role, in this humble Texan’s opinion, was in LONESOME DOVE. Such a great miniseries (4 eps, about six hours total)

Ike

In light of Robert Duvall’s extraordinary career and life, I would like to be a +plus one for SECONDHAND LIONS. Fantastic story (please invite Carly if this wins anything). Looks like it’s going to be another great PIB week!

Clay F

An early Upcoming post. Nice. Looking forward to Moonstruck, though don't really remember it. Looking forward to GoT. I felt for you with the tough episodes last week.

Gray

The Eagle Has Landed is a classic, great supporting cast too.

Shehab Dawoud

Nothing I really wanna watch the next two weeks, but I'm very happy to hear that Awakenings will get a reaction, you'll like it. RIP to Robert Duvall. Still some good ones left. Network (1976), Falling Down (1993) and The Paper (1994) would be my picks. I'd throw The Conversation (1974) in there but he has a very small part in it.

Alex Gorell

Never seen it. This and Lord of War are the two movies he’s in where I can stand him.

Clay F

+1 for Lord of War.

Shreyas

So happy you’re still continuing with GOT. I know how hard it’s been but everything pays off in the end. In the words of Ygritte “You know nothing Cassie.”

N M

I live near Lincoln Center and I always think of this movie when I walk by the Opera house!

Katie Jackson

I'm very sorry to hear about whomever you lost Cassie. I've been pretty busy lately and going through a bit of a winter depression spiral with all the extreme cold we've had this winter (-25° wind chills this winter in Michigan) But it's 55° today and the sun is shinning 😊 I had a nice Valentines Day with my boyfriend (Travis)I've gotten 3 bouquets of flowers this week🥰Sunday however was not so much fun. I can't believe Robert Duvall passed😢 I hadn't heard yet, so sad. Secondhand Lions is such an amazing movie that you could watch with Carly. A wonderful way to remember him. I highly recommend it. Oblivion is one of my favorite Tom Cruise movies, especially his more recent ones. I'm looking forward to it. I sent you some packages, it will be close on if they'll get there on time. Looking forward to the lives and more warm weather. Hope you guys are doing ok with everything going on

Nathan Benefield

If you like Robert Duvall‘s westerns, the Lonesome Dove TV miniseries is excellent, and maybe Duvall‘s finest work. (I think he even said it was his favorite role). And no spoilers, but I think Season 6 is the best season for GoT.

Tyler Foster

MOONSTRUCK FINALLY! Also it will be my first time seeing The Philadelphia Story whenever that turns up, I imagine next week. Also looking forward to Day the Earth Stood Still, Oblivion, and Awakenings. Can't say I think you will like Paul very much, but I've been wrong before. Some Robert Duvall movies I'd like to see on the channel: • Bullitt (1968) -- okay, he's only got a small role in this, but hey, any excuse! • THX-1138 (1971) -- a sci-fi movie that George Lucas directed before Star Wars; would make for a good counterpart to Logan's Run from this week • Conversation, The (1974) -- he only has a small role in this, but this is one of my favorite conspiracy thrillers, and one they paid homage to in Enemy of the State • Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) -- this is even more of a cheat than Bullitt as Duvall is in this for all of ten seconds, but another one I'd still love to see just the same! • Civil Action, A (1998) -- courtroom drama • Jack Reacher (2012) -- a reteaming with Tom Cruise after Days of Thunder I would also be excited if you watched several others I haven't seen before but have heard good things about.

prime78

RIP Robert Duvall. Loved him in Open Range and that's one of my favorite reactions on the channel. Looking forward to the live and Season 6 GOT reaction, my personal favorite season.

Clarence Newman

GoT Season 6! Yes! Cassie is a lot like Beric Dondarrion. You can run her through as many times as you like but she keeps coming back to life. What a resilient Rocky doll she's become. Besides, I don't want her to miss the scene where the king and his men arrive at the castle and the French soldiers throw farm animals at them. "Go away, you wiper of other people's bottoms, or I shall taunt you a second time!"

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I would love to see Cassie react to Falling Down (1994), in tribute to Robert Duvall!

Shreyas

It’s been a while since you’ve done a foreign film reaction. Just throwing out two Hindi language films that you would love: Taare Zameen Par (Thar-ray, Zah-meen, Pur) & Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Buj-Ron -gee, Bye-John). Hope you get to react to these one day. Also hope the phonetics help 😊

N M

BREAKDOWN (1997?) with Kurt Russell is such an excellent thriller! It’s one of those movies that sticks with you , even after seeing it many years ago. It will change the way you think about safety whenever you go on a road trip.

Cole Jennett

She lost a fictional character that seemed very real to her😉

N M

Family Man is one of my favorite Nick Cage films.

Above Average Dave

So sad to hear about Robert Duvall, one of the more underrated actors of his time, despite the Oscar win and almost ubiquitous screen presence from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Never heard anyone in the business say a bad thing about him, either. Won the Oscar for TENDER MERCIES, but among his very best work was a TV miniseries with Tommy Lee Jones and Diane Lane called LONESOME DOVE, which was iconic and still holds up. God bless and fare well, good sir. What a life. Also: Moooooooonstruck! You will love! Young Nicolas Cage, Cher showing a moment where she actually embraced (and excelled at!) acting, and fantastic turns by Vincent Gardenia, Olympia Dukakis, and Danny Aiello.

Old As Dirt Bert

Such a busy lady! Think about Second Hand Lions for an under-rated Robert Duvall film. Robert, Michael Caine, Haley Joel Osment, Kyra Sedgwick and fun supporting characters in a coming-of-age film with tales almost too good to be true.

Katie Jackson

Well, at least it wasn't a real person. Seems like Cassie's had a few in the last year or so.😞

Jyn Jilly

She probably has answered this already but did Cassie already see Mission Impossible 8? I've been waiting for that one

Clarence Newman

I would recommend a few more films for Cassie to watch, but it looks like she's got all her slots booked until April! In case she's forgotten in all the excitement, I need to remind her that she promised me a Newman/McQueen poll.

Cole Jennett

The girls still haven’t watched it yet. It is a planned reaction though.

RobertNDouglass

You're channelling the fierce loyalty and bravery of Ser Brienne of Tarth when you should be just as capable of channelling the ruthlessness and cold-bloodedness of the Stormtrooper commander Captain Phasma (also portrayed by the phenomenal, larger than life Gwendolyn Christie). My point is, we each have light and darkness inside us, and we have to acknowledge and accept it and be able to use both. Let the dark serve the light.

Tyler Foster

She has not. On an update post within the last month or so she mentioned that it's coming. I think there were a few reasons for the delay -- they may have expected to be invited to another premiere; the existing M:Is keep getting claimed by Paramount, and the reception for the movie wasn't glowing.

Marvin Just Marvin

Logan's Run is going to be so much fun! Well, for me anyway ;-) Can't wait!!!

Chuck Schuldiner

Sucks Robert Duvall died. At least he lived a long life

Above Average Dave

PIG and WILLY'S WONDERLAND give you the full spectrum of Nick Cage. Both brilliant performances at different ends of the Cage Spectrum.

Shawn Kildal

Never seen Moonstruck. Looking forward to finally seeing it. My favorite Cher movie I've seen is Mask which is a true story. Silkwood is good as well.

RobertNDouglass

On Robert Duvall... I was thinking that DEEP IMPACT was a good one for him, in which he portrayed one of the first generation of astronauts and the Lazarus mission commander/chief pilot. There's an excellent scene where he has a conversation with the Lazarus crew, telling them in the only way he can as an astronaut about how space travel was for his generation and how they need that perspective when they go up there.

Justin S.

Red Rock West is another strong film he did in the 90s. Adaptation is a pretty good performance as well. And I think all three of the action films The Rock, Face/Off, and Con Air were quite entertaining. Don't need strong performances in action movies.

Shawn Kildal

Falling Down (1993) with Michael Douglas and Jack Reacher (2012) with Tom Cruise lead the list for Robert Duval movies to choose from.

Edgar Gonzalez

I remember listening to that song "A cowboys work is never done"...first song i ever listened of her. This was back when she was married to Sonny Bono and they were doing the husband and wife duo thing. 👨👩

PianoDean

Robert Duvall has a very small part in one of my favorite movies "The Road". It's not a favorite for any kind of entertainment value. It's very depressing, bleak, and dreary, but it's poignant and real. It could LITERALLY happen. It's the most realistic vision of a post apocalyptic world I've ever seen. Robert Duvall improvised his lines in it. It probably won't win any post-apoc polls. LOL

Nick Ireland

Just Like Jesse James is my jam

Shawn Kildal

Logan's Run was filmed primarily here in Dallas Texas.

Henry M (black6q)

“Assassination Tango” 2002, he wrote directed and starred. Duvall actually dances the tango IRL. His wife is also in this.

David Bockly

That episode of The Twilight Zone miniature is one of my favorites! Cassie you should consider doing a limited number of The Twilight Zone episodes like you did with Star Trek TOS, it was an amazing, thought provoking series.

Bill W

Excited for Mystery, Alaska to come to Youtube. Hopefully that will stir some interest and more reactors will follow suit! If we're talking about Robert Duvall reactions, please don't leave out Falling Down (1993) Heading toward St. Paddy's Day... let's get The Commitments (1991) on the menu, or The Wind that Shakes the Barley (2006).

FranciscoGios

Well hello Cassie my Valentine's Day was alright, but my Birthday was the next day and i just bought myself a carrot cake. RIP Robert Duval. He portrayed very likeable characters thru out his career. Also i can't wait for your reaction to Moonstruck i believe its a good one.

John Stephens

So glad you are watching Oblivion

Clay F

Ditto

shaneth138

I don’t care about any of these several movies coming up besides Paul and that got a maybe 😆

shaneth138

She’s already watched Deep Impact. It’s on the channel.

Shawn Kildal

One more week for Sense and Sensibility!

Shawn Kildal

I remember seeing Robert Duval in a very memorable guest spot in a two episode story in the TV series The Fugitive (season 1).

Joe J

A maybe is almost a promise....and we know Cassie always keeps her promises...except when she don't. 😧

shaneth138

Yeah I hope. But with that many movies coming up I could see it being lost in the mix or not happen for a long time.

Arturo

The day the Earth stood still the 2008? Not the 1951 version? I get the interest in the classics, but King Kong (2005) or Posidon (2006) form The Posidon Adventure (1972) or ¿? have "modern" vercions that are good.

Rick Williams

But not everyone's dark side and light side are the same as everyone else's. I think Cassie's dark side is lighter than some other people's light side. Some people are just lighter than other people the same as some people are just darker than other people. Cassie's dark wouldn't scare me like Stephen Kings would. Everyone is different.

Joe J

An update on Monday....someone alert the media. 😂

Paul Hess

Robert Duvall produced and had a supporting role in Crazy Heart staring Jeff Bridges as a country singer past his heyday doing road gigs. It was a low key passion project for both Duvall and Bridges, a character piece without all the big budget high octane of modern flicks. Great movie and a nice little farewell wave for Duvall you could watch.

Joe J

+1 for the new database.

Sean Carroll

A friendly reminder that stannis killed his daughter and Jon snow is dead

Joe J

Yes to Lonesome Dove and The Eagle has Landed.

MikeLL

I’m over the Moon(!) that we are getting Moonstruck and (eventually) The Philadelphia Story! Cassie will love love love both films! Good decision to press on with GOT, a most wise decision. I’m sure a tribute watch for the matchless Robert Duvall will transpire. He is a great who will be missed.

Joel Wayne

Love his 3 main action films that have been mentioned, Family Man and Trapped In Paradise. National Treasure, Next, Guarding Tess, Amos and Andrew, Raising Arizona, Gone in 60 Seconds and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. I did not realize how many other movies he's been in that I've never seen or heard about in even the last ten years.

Joel Wayne

Lonesome Dove is an absolute must.

Catherine LW

Duvall had so many memorable lines in Lonesome Dove: “Not much of a crime, whacking a surly bartender” 😂

Catherine LW

“The people who come in here wouldn’t notice a dead skunk on the table, no less a few crumbs”

Joel Wayne

We've had about a week of winter this year in Houston. Supposed to be mid 80s later this week.

Catherine LW

“Come morning, noon or night, I won’t ever forget you” 😭

Catherine LW

Yes, Lonesome Dove was his favorite role. Can’t believe he got the part because Jim Garner had back trouble and couldn’t ride a horse anymore!

Joel Wayne

+1 for The Commitments. Might be hard to edit with all the great music.

Mojo One Thousand

Oh man, Robert Duvall... didn't expect a PIB upcoming post to break that news to me. I hadn't seen it posted on any other news where I am this morning. "The Judge" is one of his later roles and would be a fine choice as he is great in it (which is pretty much standard for him). Catherine O'Hara and James Van Der Beek were some others in just the last couple of weeks, and the latter was sad due to his age. I had been thinking of one of the many great Christopher Guest films for Catherine, and "Varsity Blues" for James as these might be suggestions to pay respects to them.

Joe J

I had to remind her that "Earth Girls are Easy" won the frigging LIVE YT Poll, and I want to sincerely apologize to everyone for doing that. 😂

Johnny

Gonna need a Robert Duvall poll!

Jyn Jilly

Ok gotcha. I had just assumed they saw it in theaters or something.

Joel Wayne

She should watch "High Society" (1956) with it

YodatheHobbit

RIP to my fellow San Diegian native.

Rick Williams

Watch out Cassie. Snow and 60+ MPH winds are hitting Utah tomorrow. Tie everything down.

YodatheHobbit

Looking forward to The Birdcage and maybe Paul.

Anthony Carlson

On the weather, here here! We’re going to get in the 60’s on Wednesday!

Robert Evans

One that would never win any poll that I'd kill to see Cassie and Carly react to is 'The Remains of the Day' no dry eyes at the end of that story. And they'd get to see Christopher Reeve flexing real acting skills like he had with Superman.

Geoff S.

I think Cassie and Carly would love Nick Cage in Peggy Sue Got Married. If they watch bring the tissues.

Katie Jackson

Yeah, I'm loving not freezing. I was able to walk around Lansing on Saturday with just a thin sweater until dark, it was amazing.

Chris Retzlaff

I seriously look forward to March movie madness....is that madness.....some may say

Anthony Carlson

@Katie Jackson That’s my hometown…😎

Mike Redford

Glad valentines was nice. Same here, pretty chill. R.I.P Mr. Duvall. One of the first things I thought was "Aww, cassie really liked him." As did I. Lived a good life, 95 yrs young. Moonstruck should be interesting. Nick cage always is lol, for better or worse. Looking forward to the YT live and the craziness of march to come 👍

Coleton B.

I wish THX-1138 were more well known. I always have fun showing folks one scene in particular and saying 'this movie was made in 1971' and watching the confusion.

Mark Vaderr

Looking forward to the Poppies & March Madness, lots of fun coming at us. All I had to hear was that you'll watch The Day The Earth Stood Still, and that made my day. The Birdcage will be great as well. See you on Saturday, Cassie!

Katie Jackson

@Anthony Carlson I live between Lansing and Jackson, a country girl😊

K, Zachary

Dear Cassie Carly and The Popcorn Family as well as Cassie viewing public. Our Valentine's Day weekend was very movie centered. We saw Crime 101 on Friday. Thor, The Hulk and Halle Berry in a Crime Thriller... Yes please. Saturday we saw Wuthering Heights which I learned was a remake of a 1992 movie which she owns. However this one had Margot Robbie in a steamy, passionate movie. About Last Week: We fell asleep watching Cassie reaction to Escape from New York. We didn't watch the movie though. We did get to Mystery Alaska but that's it. She says she is ready for Good Will Hunting Looks like Cassie didn't take our advice on GOT Well he do have free will. Just don't look at the titles for the show for season 6. Oh and don't go looking for Game Of Thrones shows that are currently in development on IMDB either. Warnings and Spoilers in there. Actually season 6 and 7 are the best seasons. I have a line from season 7 tattooed across my back. The Week Ahead: Moonstruck is awesome according to her ( gf) I don't remember it. Philadelphia Story is much better but Cher and Nicholas Cage were "delightful" in Moonstruck yes we own it. ( Romcoms help her with her PTSD thats why own every single one that was even remotely good. She told me that Season 6 and 7 of GOT helped her PTSD as well) I did my research on Logan's Run I went to my sources on this my brothers who grew up in the 70's and both loved Sci-fi. The both praised Logan's Run. However they told me it's not for us. That we are better off sticking to the Olympics, and watching hockey. Ok then.... Song Of The Week I am still thinking about Wuthering Heights love and romance so Love Story from Taylor Swift actually comes to mind. https://youtu.be/lEMeFbxUZks?si=hykou6k6HVkf9CLj For those of you who don't like Taylor Swift here is Chris Cornell with Sunflower https://youtu.be/5RtJYZ8SErU?si=R4KcyDWDMsO0hOjv

David Freese

Love the smell of Napalm in the Morning RIP Robert Duvall

Richard Maurer

Clarence - they did something like that on GoT, it’s called season 8

Shawn Kildal

I wonder if Cassie will recognize the iconic Farrah Fawcett when she sees her in Logan's Run. Or if she even knows who she is. She still has the best selling poster of all-time. I had one myself.

Richard Maurer

I’d be happy if you did a March Madness style tournament for every sports play-off throughout the year . Why just have one?

Shawn Kildal

The 1939 version of Wuthering Heights is the most popular one and has the most accolades

Shawn Kildal

Your right. It would never win any kind of poll, but I would love to see Cassie react to it. Maybe after Sense and Sensibility, Cassie will have more interest in seeing Emma Thompson movies.

Shawn Kildal

Much preferred on Mondays IMO

Clay F

I have nostalgia for Peggy Sue Got Married. Kathleen Turner is the highlight for me. Cage is good.

Chris Thom

Aww dang, I was like three percent sure your favorite Robert Duvall film would be Apocalypse Now. Looking forward to Moonstruck finally happening. I think you will enjoy vintage Cher. She does have a pretty special charm. You're probably too young to remember how famous she was at one point. There's some fun clips of her singing with MJ and the Jackson Five on her variety show. Happy Love Month!

Clay F

+1 for The Remains of the Day

Chris Thom

Is the fountain still working?

Clay F

Excellent movie. Crazy Heart is the only movie I watched more than twice in the theater. Watched it 3 times in theater. Duvall is great in it. He plays his Houston role perfectly.

Chris Thom

Been meaning to see that for so long. But I keep forgetting it exists. Don't think I've ever seen it appear on cable.

Chris Thom

Kind of surprised it hasn't happened already.

Chris Thom

I really love the clip from her old show with MJ and brothers. Was fun to see her on SNL recently. Still sounds great.

Clay F

The 1951 version. Where have you been? Did you vote in the poll?

Chris Thom

Does ser mean sir in GOT?

Clay F

Yeah -- I think most patrons want her to ignore or forget about Earth Girls.

Clay F

+1 for The Road. Aragorn is lead.

Tyler Foster

I actually saw it on the big screen at Seattle Cinerama when the George Lucas Director's Cut was in theaters. I haven't rewatched it since but I still remember the imagery. Thought about it throughout Logan's Run, which coincidentally I watched for the first time just a couple of weeks ago, right before it showed up on a poll here.

Chris Thom

I haven't seen that one yet. I do love Emma Thompson.

Clay F

I love Brienne of Tarth as a character. Back in the day, I never had a bad time at a comedy show. Now can be hit and miss. Austin has good comedy clubs -- a relatively short drive from Houston where i live. Glad you had a fun date night. A stretch of good content: Moonstruck, GoT (the best reactions), The Day the Earth Stood Still, Oblivion, Philadelphia Story, Awakenings. Looking forward to the Live this Saturday, March Madness, and the Poppies.

Chris Thom

I forget what won last year.

Chris Thom

Happy Birthday! Love carrot cake. The one from Raley's is pretty elite.

Chris Thom

So, so bleak. Neat art direction though.

Richard Maurer

The only thing I care about is that both the movies and the winners are decided by random chance. Makes the results more interesting. If it were up to me we’d do this instead of polls.

Christian Becker

Greetings, Cassie. Never forget. The North remembers! ;-) Fine, got to find a copy of Logan’s Run somewhere. Still a little bit miffed that Forbidden Planet did rather poorly in the poll. Don’t get me wrong. Logan’s Run is nice, and the idea behind it is intriguing, but Forbidden Planet is real sci-fi film history, at least in my book. And concerning Robert Duvall, RIP. A maybe not-so-well-known but very nice little film would be Secondhand Lions (2003). Maybe a possible entry for an upcoming Duvall poll?

2026-11-01 00:00 Finally. Moonstruck is a perfect screenplay.

Huh. I've never actually seen Logan's Run. A gap in my scifi exposure, so I'm happy to watch it with you. I love Moonstruck, though it's been a long while since I've seen it. And I am over the moon that you're doing A Philadelphia Story. That's one of my personal Top 5 films that I want PIB to do a reaction to, so since it's my birthday this month, I'll choose to see that as your gift to me :)

Chris Thom

I think the top seeded teams represent a top seeded movie from Popcorn Requests. But not totally sure. I vaguely remember her drawing names out of a hat too.

Russell

Forbidden Planet is a superb movie, I hope Cassie (with Carly) watches it at some point.

Chris Thom

Got the impression that Nia Vardalos borrowed a bit of structure from Moonstruck for her Big Fat Greek Wedding script. And she got a massive hit out of it.

2-Can

She needs to see Lonesome Dove, but I want her to watch Secondhand Lions. I’ll need to check if she’s seen To Kill a Mockingbird.

Chris Thom

I haven't seen Secondhand Lions yet. But seems to be well regarded here.

Hollis Hamilton

Looking forward to Logan's Run and The Birdcage, but most excited for the runner ups, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Awakenings. Glad Moonstruck is coming up too! Please tell me Carly is watching it with you. RIP Robert Duvall. I'll always remember him for Lonesome Dove, but the film that he dominated in the best possible way was The Great Santini. An iconic scene is parodied in Austin Powers. (iykyk)

FALLING DOWN (1993) to commemorate Robert Duvall and balance all these chick flicks

keoma songs

PAUL should be recorded and one of your 'emergency coverage' reactions. I've recommended before to do a back log of 4-6 reactions that you can have ready to go as substitutes in case of emergency. Could be weather related emergency (blizzard, flood, etc) housing related emergency (plumbing, internet, electrical etc), family emergency (sickness, graduation, unanticipated visit etc), or mental health break / spontaneous time-off or vacation. Basically anything unexpected with you or your editor can be covered by an emergency back up reaction that you have loaded up on YT that you can make live with just your phone. Ashleigh Burton has had multiple problems recently with her house power due to an ice storm and downed internet, so that's an example of where having some emergency releases could come in handy. So I recommend doing PAUL and these other ones that have been promised or YT poll winners. Maybe YT polls or Live show DVD unboxings polls could automatically be put in the emergency stock. Or you could add 2nd place finishers in regular polls to serve as emergency releases.

FranciscoGios

Thanks, Raley's is too far for me, next time though.

Clay F

Suggested Robert Duvall movies for poll: 1. Tender Mercies (1983) (drama). Robert Duvall won Best Actor Oscar. 2. M*A*S*H (1970) (Comedy/War) (w/Donald Sutherland) [AFI Top 100]. 3. The Apostle (1998) [Duvall wrote, directed, stars as lead. Nom Best Actor Oscar] 4. Crazy Heart (2009) (romance/drama) (w/Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrel). Duvall plays his supporting character role (a good guy) perfectly. 5. Network (1976) [AFI Top 100]. Duvall nom Best Supporting Actor Oscar. 6. The Paper (1994) (comedy/drama) (w/Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, etc.) 7. Colors (1988) (Robert Duvall and Sean Penn = the 2 leads) [gritty police drama] 8. Get Low (2010) (comedy/drama) (3 leads = Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek) 9. Rambling Rose (1991) (drama) (w/Laura Dern) 10. Falling Down (1993) (w/Michael Douglas)

Richard Maurer

Nope, all the movies were paired randomly with the teams - I'm sure because I would have been very annoyed if they cheated by having popular movies with the best teams. I do remember they limited how far down the list the movies came from (that was something I didn’t like, every film on the list should have had a chance), I’m not sure how far down they went - top 100 maybe?

Shawn Kildal

She's seen To Kill a Mockingbird

Richard Maurer

Logan's Run should make for an interesting reaction.

2-Can

Lonesome Dove was a seminal television event and its success had a huge impact on the industry and on Duvall’s career. While I think 1883 was even better, between the two she HAS to watch Lonesome Dove first.

Shawn Kildal

NBA and NHL playoffs happen practically simultaneously though. That would probably be a bit difficult to arrange and execute. MLB happens in October. You might have to give up a horror movie or two.

Shawn Kildal

She wrote the screenplay for the movie and won an Oscar for it

Shawn Kildal

These live polls Cassie has during her livestreams are the worst. Howard the Duck won one of them.

Richard Maurer

Shawn - NBA and NHL playoffs combined are still less than half the teams in March Madness, it’s doable. And as for MLB being in October, they could watch the winner(s) in November.

Shawn Kildal

She and Carly talked about on a livestream. The disliked how it ended.

HugoBoss435

Thanks for the clarification 👍🏼

McShades

One of my favorite Robert Duvall acting roles was Gus in Lonesome Dove, it's a mini-series western... It was so good... RIP, were losing all the GOAT's 😢

Shawn Kildal

It's part of a free 4 acre water park park in Ft. Worth

Shawn Kildal

Still seems like a lot to commit to, but I'm all for it should she likes the idea. Maybe at least she could consider doing the college football playoffs next year.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, I’m not holding my breath waiting for this to happen, but I can dream, can’t I? Doing at least one more each year doesn’t seem too much to ask though.

Chris Thom

Network might be perfect for the channel. Fascinating film. And prescient. Been so long since I've seen it. Had totally forgot he was in it.

shaneth138

That made me so mad when Howard the Duck won lol. I think The Guardian would have won that poll which would’ve been one I think Cassie would’ve liked a lot.

Chris Thom

Turns 50 in June. Must've made a pretty big impact. Still hear it brought up quite a bit in regards to sci-fi/utopian/dystopian. But I know it's kind of famous for being the last of its kind before Star Wars came and blew the doors off the genre.

Clay F

Yeah, and his character is a bad guy (not a good guy).

Christian Becker

It is a nice sci-fi flick, but to be honest, for the 13-year-old boy I was when I saw it for the first time, the sight of Jenny Agutter alone carried the whole movie ;-)

Arturo

So no Keanu Reeves, Jack Black, Adrien Brody, Kurt Russell or Richard Dreyfuss

Christian Becker

And let’s not forget it has Jenny Agutter in it 🙂

Jacob Wagner

The Great Santini is my favorite Robert Duvall performance

clutchkman

Lots of stuff to look forward to here! R.I.P. Robert Duvall. What a great actor. Personally, I'd choose the Apostle over the Judge, but that's just my humble opinion. Looking forward to Logan's Run, it's a bit weird but, really makes you think and that's the best kind of sci-fi.

Clarence Newman

I first saw Jenny Agutter in The Railway Children.

Clarence Newman

In regard to the Robert Duvall tribute poll, the Gene Hackman one produced one film where Gene was the star and one where he was a supporting actor with limited but notable screen time. To honour this precedent, I recommend Bullitt for the supporting role and whatever you guys think for the main feature.

Clay F

I would also choose The Apostle over The Judge. Plus, Duvall wrote The Apostle, directed The Apostle, starred as the lead character in The Apostle, and was nominated for Best Actor Oscar for his performance in The Apostle. That is some significance with respect to Robert Duvall and thus surely will be included in the poll (if there is a Duvall poll) -- but likely won't win -- sadly I can see Falling Down and others beating it.

clutchkman

Yes, it's his best performance as well, that's subjective of course, but it's a powerful film and I hope she gets to it someday.

Rene G.

Next month has FRiday the 13th in it so I suggest you watch Friday the 13th With Kat. No need for poll votes or popcorn pan of whose name gets to remain in it. Just watch it by default with Kat.Pretty please?? Again, if there's a Friday the 13th date on every month, watch all friday the 13th sequels with Kat on her channel.

Rene G.

As for RObert Duvall tribute for his death, I'd suggest watch the 6th Day with Schwarzenegger.. Underrated movie

Jay

Anyone else getting "This message might be dangerous. Messages like this were used to steal personal information....." in a big red box with the email? I've been on Patreon for more than 10 years, subbed to loads of stuff and I've never seen this before.

keoma songs

Yes, same on mine. I checked other Patreon emails today including other reactors but the PiB was the only one as you described

Clarence Newman

Ok on mine, Jay. I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

Clarence Newman

Rene's suggestions usually terrify me to my very soul, but I think he may be on to something here. I did, however, check out after the questions marks.

Clarence Newman

I personally would choose The Judge over The Apostle, on the grounds that I have not seen The Apostle.

Clarence Newman

Farrah Fawcett and Jenny Agutter in the same movie. That's almost as colossal as McQueen and Newman in Towering Inferno.

Clarence Newman

Is it too late to apply it to the curling?

Mike Hamm

I got the warning, too. First time I'd seen anything like it.

Richard Maurer

Hmmmmm, Olympics based movie tournament? Sounds good to me. Edit: seriously the tourney would be pretty complicated. You’d have to attach the movies to different competitors or teams from different countries. Sounds like too much work. Makes March Madness seem simple.

Paul Hess

I'm curious what email programs @Jay and @KeomaSongs you are using? The clickable graphics contain tracking codes, but that's very typical and normal. Maybe something about those codes triggered the warning for a few people? My guess is that the people who saw this warning all have something in common in terms of the email programs or email servers they are using, which might have recently adjusted their warning algorithms. (I only glanced casually at the email so I could be missing something .... I bet ChatGPT could answer better if you pasted in the "raw source" version of the email you received, which contains the links etc)

Jay

I'm using Gmail. And like I said, I sub to lots of things on Patreon. I get several emails from them every day, have done for years and it's the first time I've seen this. I'm not worried about it, I'm sure Cassie isn't stealing my information, wanted to see if it was just me. And call me luddite but I refuse to use AI:)

keoma songs

Same as Jay. Luddite in my own way, I'm someone who refuses to use Discord as it just seems to be non-stop token stealing and scams. That's why I never got involved with the older Popcorn Requests site, the Discord element

keoma songs

Filmed in Dallas, like Robocop. If you want to make a film about a whack future, Dallas is the place. Anyways, Jenny Agutter I first saw in Logan's Run. Second time was China 9, Liberty 37 (1978), one of the movies I consider a 'fake Spaghetti Western'. Sure, filmed in Europe and starring Fabio Testi and a mostly Italian crew .... But directed for hire by the American Monte Hellman and American writing. And sure enough if you watch it, it doesn't feel like other Spaghettis at all. Way too much love scenes and nudity from Agutter, that's not how Spaghettis were even when they had Edwige Fenech, Nieves Navarro, or Rosalba Neri! I recommend Spaghetti purists avoid this movie, classic spaghetti narratives are replaced by scene after scene of Agutter frolicking in a stream or love scenes

Mark White

No problem for me Jay, but I’m UK as well.

Nick Ireland

I'm in the UK too. I got the red warning with Gmail

2-Can

It is an amazing performance, though I'm not sure she would like the movie - he was tough on the family. One of the reasons I didn't want her to watch GoT is that it makes the remaining available slots so much more 'precious' that it makes it even harder to get in movies like this one.

Byrd N. Hand

"Crazy Heart" was basically a more modern-day "Tender Mercies," if I recall. I'll add George Lucas' debut, "THX 1138," which might've been Duvall's first genuine leading role, as well as the underrated "The Great Northfield, Minnesota Raid" (another Jesse James movie).

Popcorn In Bed

Ben here. We are meeting this morning with our Patreon rep and we will be bringing this up. We've changed nothing. We don't have the ability to change anything relating to the notification emails, even if we wanted to. Not sure why the emails are being marked as spam all of a sudden. We'll keep you posted.

EricH

This is without question the thing to watch

Joe J

Cassie has never banked reactions, because everything she watches gets posted to Youtube within 1-2 weeks. Maybe a Patreon exclusive like a PAF film could be edited with short notice and posted.

Byrd N. Hand

I think I've only seen 4 films in which Jenny Agutter has appeared... and she did nudity in all of them: "Walkabout," "Logan's Run," "Equus," and "An American Werewolf in London." 🤷‍♂️

Joe J

Nice try bro, but Duval just had a short cameo role in Bullitt, onscreen for what like 1 minute.

Clarence Newman

Lies, Joseph! It was at least 2 minutes and he stole the film.

Joe J

Curious, has anyone here ever purchased a custom reaction? A reactor I follow, "Totally Whatever" (two sisters) offers that service. A number of patrons have used the service already this year. Cost is $250. Seems high (haha)...but I'm tempted. A number of reactors do now offer a monthly PAF drawing, but I'm not aware of any others offering custom reactions.

Joeking1701

Not sure if you have seen it but Second hand Lions has Robert Duvall With Michael Caine. It's an enjoyable little drama.

Milton Reduxed

I never have. Thought hard about it, but it's more economical to use that money to get a whole bunch of memberships from different reactors instead. You then get hundreds of reactions that may not be that ONE movie you really want but got to be money better spent

Byrd N. Hand

It's definitely a solid sci-fi film, though it *is* a bit undermined by its painfully dated production design and FX (ditto "Zardoz").

Kevin Farrell

A lot of the channels that I've seen offer this have just become reaction content factories. They're watching like 4-5 shows at once and it doesn't seem like they care about any of them. I hope Cassie never goes down that route. I get money is money, but that always tends to bother me.

Cole Jennett

The Judge is in my top 5 reactions I’m looking forward to the most.

Joe J

The two sisters on Totally Whatever are very genuine reactors IMO, not performative in any way. I only follow (and support) reactors I sense are completely genuine like Cassie, Jen Murray, TBR Schmitt, and Totally Whatever. The jury is still out on a few others reactors...time will tell.

Daniel S.Silva

Logan's Run, the movie Ross from Friends described as the "sexiest movie ever"

Milton Reduxed

I would feel pretty daft paying $250 to watch a movie I've seen before, and could be watching again for nothing without the reactor. They may not even like it

Joe J

It's certainly not for everyone Milt (haha).

clutchkman

Wow, Ross must've seen like only two movies.

Milton Reduxed

What were you going to request anyway?

Joe J

Milt - A few movies I have in mind, can't yet decide. The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) is my leading contender at the moment.

Walter

Oh man, trying to imagine what a Zardoz reaction would look like

John A

Man I still haven't watched this... I don't know why I keep forgetting about it

OddThomas

Sunshine and Oblivion are top tier sci-fi.

Clarence Newman

Ooh, the Satanic Rites of Dracula. I had a big argument with my Nan when I was about 13 because she wouldn’t let me stay up and watch that. The write-up in the Radio Times had promised me copious amounts of boobies.

Clarence Newman

The only movie I’d pay Cassie to watch is Rhinestone. Shouldn’t take more than my house and a kidney.

Clarence Newman

Railway Children, Byrd. But she was still a kid then.

Popcorn In Bed

Okay, we spoke to our rep and she said that this is a known issue and they are looking into it. -Ben

Joe J

Clarence - Stick had to wait 4 years to finally get a reaction to Midnight Run. I'm stoked for "The Day the Earth Stood Still", a few good ones manage to slip through from time to time, lol. Rhinestone? Surely, you jest....and don't call me Shirley.

John A

Man I just assumed she'd seen this already for some reason, definitely a must over any other movie he's in

Clay F

Yeah I’ve seen and heard about purchasing custom reactions on other channels. Our former mod KL — you can purchase a custom reaction at her channel — $185 or $200 — used a lot (not by me yet) — get some of the best content (at least for my interests). 2 yrs ago, I purchased custom reaction from Centane for $85. The movies paid for by her patrons for her custom reactions were generally good content. She would solicit takers on Discord every few months, say 5 reactions at a time. For channels, that is a theme I’ve noticed is custom reactions paid-for are some of the best content on their channel (generally better than patron polls that's for sure). I like it when I join a channel that has that service (even if I don't use it) or there are a couple of very high-tier patrons who influence or pay for reactions = better content. Liteweight reactions (a single female reactor) was that way. At channels, I see very high tier patron slots (e.g., $100+ per month) -- typically tiny number and sold out -- some can specify reaction. Think PiB had that briefly in beginning days. EvieReacts has a very high-tier patron or two who can pay for reactions to TV series. If Evie grows to personally like series, she will put the series in her regular rotation for free. I watched her reaction to the Outlander TV series that way, with the very high-tier patron "James" in the background paying for the reaction to the first 6 or so episodes.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Falling Down is a must! Such a great flick.

Byrd N. Hand

Those big-money requests have always felt more like bribes to me than anything else. 🤷‍♂️ That said, I really enjoy Nanette & Carolyn from Totally Whatever, and I can't believe they haven't taken off as much as some other, lesser (IMO) reactors. 🤷‍♂️ I'd consider Addie Counts another genuine reactor, but she frustratingly tends to stick to very safe fare. 😔 I also enjoy The Coby Show, particularly since she often does some pretty deep cuts (e.g. "Magic," "Lost in America," "Wild at Heart," "Welcome to the Dollhouse," etc.) and also significantly cares more about the artistic/creative side of filmmaking. And Maplenuts are pretty similar to TBR Schmitt, though they don't go nearly as deep in their post-reaction discussions.

Chris Thom

Un-related, but my parents just got a scam call today saying my sister was in a car accident and the other person was pressing charges and they needed all this info. Turns out the whole thing was a fraud. There's a proliferation of this kind of thing right now. Be careful out there.

Chris Thom

A Pat Conroy movie would be good. Prince of Tides is one of the best. Also like Grant Santini and the other military school one. Blanking on what it's called.

Chris Thom

Ohhh it was Friends. Knew it was referenced in something I saw recently.

Clay F

For some channels collectively, creator/patron-poll driven content, for example = Marvel, anime, Commando, Predator 2, Karate Kid 3, etc. I am not interested -- and yes I have tried anime repeatedly to no avail. In contrast, paid-for custom reactions = The Godfather, Titanic, Shawshank Redemption, etc. That's my style. Can also include not-so-recognizable titles (especially to younger patrons) that I have nostalgia for.

Above Average Dave

Heathcliff is such a pathetic bore. Never liked the book and I really started rooting again Olivier's character about halfway through that movie. That said, if someone had done an EMO/Goth-themed version around 2002 it probably have been a big hit.

Richard Maurer

I’d probably do that with a reactor I really liked - if I were really wealthy, which I’m not. If I won the big lottery I’d try to get Cassie to do it - I’d just keep offering her more and more money till she couldn’t say no without people calling her crazy.

Richard Maurer

I don’t think she was naked in Child’s Play 2, but I might be wrong.

Richard Maurer

With all 1800+ movies eligible would be great.

Joe J

Honestly, $250 is very doable for me, hell I spend that much on a variety of entertainments every month. I'm at the age to spend my money now, lol. I bet if Cassie offered a monthly high-roller PAF wheel, say 3 requests allowed per patron each month, with $100 required to play each month...she could spin that wheel every month.

Clarence Newman

I'm a huge Beatles fan, which is why I have a song by Bonnie Jo Mason called "Ringo, I Love You" (1964). Apparently, the song was banned on a lot of radio stations because they thought the voice was a tad too low to be a woman's and therefore a man professing homosexual love for the beaky Beatle. Bonnie Jo Mason went on to become Cher.

Jay

Cheers Ben

Richard Maurer

For $100 I’d seriously think about it, depending on how many other people were involved.

Joe J

Richard - Let's reduce it to only 3 requests allowed per patron each month, to ensure a very small number of films on the spin-wheel each month. $100 a month ($33.33 per film).

Jacob Wagner

Its not my favorite movie but he nailed that role

Clarence Newman

I'm in. My three would be Cannonball Run, Rhinestone and Jungle Burger.

keoma songs

I've thought about it. Compared to all the special editions and foreign blu-rays/DVDs I have bought of movies I already own just to get a new special feature or commentary, it's probably not unreasonable. I guess my issue is it seems some of these customs never get YT edits. I imagine a lot of the appeal is encouraging a wider audience to watch a favorite movie. Also, comparing things, I don't know if I would spend more than $100. And gauging how much different reactors charge as a ratio of their paid users and estimated take (for instance Totally Whatever at $250 and Liteweight at $500) .... A Cassie custom would probably start at $1,000 if not a lot more. I don't think I could even pay $250 to get someone to watch KEOMA (1976), my favorite Spaghetti Western which also happens to have a musical score that drives people insane with rage and staggered confusion.

Clay F

For the monthly high-roller PAF wheel, why have 3 requests instead of a single request (per patron each month). The odds are the same.

Mike Lemon

@Clay- "paid-for are some of the best content on their channel (generally better than patron polls that's for sure)." You're describing what I call "the vanilla ice cream problem". Some people LOVE black cherry, some LOVE chunky monkey, some LOVE pistachio, but almost everybody *likes* vanilla, and when you get a large group to pick (ie. a poll) vanilla wins most of the time. All the great "flavors" are missed and we have vanilla again.

Joe J

Clay - your right, just allow (1) submission only per patron per month. $35 to play the wheel each month. Once Cassie gets (25) submissions for a given month, entry is closed for that month. Each month the spin-wheel never has more than (25) films.

Astraeos

Cassie, you are the best for not stopping GoT. We all definitely thank you lol. Also definitely super looking forward to Oblivion and Logan's Run.

Astraeos

For the Watch

Catherine LW

My favorite role he played and his favorite role he played. Yes, it’s a mini series but well worth it and so engaging, funny, tragic and heartbreaking.

Catherine LW

I have suggested The Remains of the Day, which is underrated and understated. Anthony Hopkins at his most restrained performance. Emma Thompson and unrequited love. A treasonous English lord on the eve of WWII. Thematically, who inherits the British Empire after the war? So many layers. I also think Cassie should check out more Merchant Ivory films, especially A Room With a View, lovely rom com!

Clay F

Actually I was thinking the price remains $100 with the single entry. The price is per patron. You get the same odds, whether 1 movie or 3 movies or 10 movie are submitted. Same odds = same price.

Joe J

I could live with $50 each month, because it's still a PAF with 25 to 1 odds, and not a custom reaction request.

Edgar Gonzalez

My dad is a HUGE Beatles AND Bee Gees fan, can't tell you how much I heard "All you need is love" followed by "Words" growing up. My dad loved that mix tape sooo much, he just wore it out.

Edgar Gonzalez

Cassette Tapes were still around...man do i feel old 😆

Chris Thom

Just remembered. The Lords of Discipline. With the guy from Officer of a Gentlemen and Firestarter. And the kid from Top Gun.

Chris Thom

Oh interesting. She was on a talk show the other day talking about writing for movies. But she never said which ones.

Chris Thom

Ever been to that museum that Frank Gehry designed in Seattle? Next to the Space Needle? I don't know what the collection is exactly, but the other day someone said Teddy from AI was there.

Tyler Foster

MoPop? Yes, I've been there. Previously known as EMP (Experience Music Project). Not recently enough to see Teddy, though.

Shawn Kildal

The Apostle was Duval's passion project.

Shawn Kildal

Jenny Agutter was also in Captain America the Winter Soldier. She was the council woman that Black Widow disguised herself as towards the end of the movie

I probably missed it, but did we get an answer about reacting to the last Mission Impossible movie?

Mark White

+ a million for “Falling Down”

Mark White

Hi Cassie, Lucy and myself do celebrate Valentine’s Day but for a different reason. It was the date we bought our home together, our little place out in the sticks of north Norfolk, where we could keep our Goats and many other animals. We both worked at the Zoo when we met, so the animals are our children. I’m looking forward to a few sci-fi’s. I think you may enjoy your man Cruise in Oblivion. I still can’t believe you have never seen Sense and sensibility! One of my wife’s favourites and a stacked cast! My suggestion to commemorate Robert Duvall is “Falling Down” 1993 with Micheal Douglas. I hope you have all recovered from the dreaded bug’s you guys had? Take care of yourself You are the best ❤️

Milton Reduxed

I don't really like plugging other reactors but Somewhere in October currently does 4 PaF a month and her membership is pretty small—I've had 3 movies win: Cabin Fever, Hostel, and Wrisitcutters

Mark White

Cassie, I’m looking forward to March Madness again. Can I suggest you take the opportunity this summer to do something similar with the Football (soccer) World Cup?! It’s hosted in Canada, U.S and Mexico. I believe it starts on the 11th of June. Canada’s first game is on the 12th of June. Will you be watching?

Gray

Good idea also perhaps watch Escape to Victory as it's one of the decent Football movies.

Richard Maurer

I’m for her doing this with every major sport, but if she just wants to do one other sport play-off then soccer (football) is fine with me. Personally I just enjoy the random movies we get and that every movie has an equal chance at winning.

Richard Maurer

She was also in The Avengers as the same character but only for a few seconds and as a shadowed image on a screen. She didn’t get naked in either of these films. ;-)

Clay F

The city of Houston will host 7 World Cup games: 5 group-stage games, Round of 32 match, and Round of 16 match. I may go to one.

John A

Falling Down over any single other Robert Duvall movie. We watched it in high school and I went straight to the store after school, bought it and watched it again that night. This, The Game also with Michael Douglas, and Keanu's Hardball are oddly enough the only movies I can think of that I've watched back to back in the same day even if they aren't my 3 favorite movies, although Interstellar probably would have been if it wasn't 69 hours long

John A

Pitiful view count on Midnight Run. I know it was popular in its day, but no one my age knows of it. Weird how such good movies can sometimes fall through the cracks

Richard Maurer

Actually surprised Justice League didn't do better. What happened to all the Snyder fans?

Richard Maurer

You know what's annoying? Horror of Dracula is listed as Dracula (1958) on the new Popcorn Requests list, which, while that's the correct title outside the US, it's still mostly know as Horror of Dracula. It's currently at #101 on the list, should anyone care to give it a upvote (shameless plug).

Clarence Newman

Escape to Victory is a good one. Stallone, Michael Caine, Edson Arantes do Nascimento. Cassie will love it. If she wants a sport with a little more incentive to win, I suggest The Long Walk (2025).

Joe J

I upvoted it also.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - Thanks. Upvoted Cool Hand Luke for you the other day.

Richard Maurer

Joe - Thanks. Anything you want upvoted?

Joe J

Starting in 2025 is when most movies (new or old) really started to struggle for views. You now need well known and big tent-pole movies to get the views. I would say for most movies, 50-60k in a week shows good YT engagement now in 2026. Views can never return to the levels seen a few years back. IMO, 169k views for JS (Pt 1 + 2) is excellent, but it would have gotten even more views if Cassie had waited and combined Parts 1 & 2. The Assassination of Jesse James was dead on arrival, just no interest with YT viewers. The older Midnight Run seems to be forgotten by most.

Joe J

Richard - My (3) requested films are The Fog (1980), Under Siege, and Pitch Black. I have already upvoted many films that so many of us want reactions to.

Richard Maurer

I upvoted The Fog already, I’ll upvote Pitch Black next time I’m on there.

Joe J

What if my favorite movies get paired up with low ranked teams. My hopes will be dashed early, lol.

Joe J

There are 1899 requested movies now in the new PR database app. Moving forward, I assume Cassie will source all Polls from the new PR database? Is it reasonable to expect 3 to 4 Polls every month?

Clay F

I look forward to the new PR being used to source polls, but don't know it's ready. There are bugs/things being worked out. Yet, we could go ahead and start using new PR to source polls anyway. An advantage is would increase participation. Interestingly, if I assign all of my 180 points to a movie without anyone else giving it points -- that places it at No. 35 in the rankings. All 4 of my entries (in order below) are in the Top 200 1. Friday Night Lights #10 2. Capote #157 3. Vicky Cristina Barcelona #169 4. Lion #140 Yet, I didn't put a lot of thought into it b/c was more about testing.

Richard Maurer

Ben mentioned moving data over to the site, and included pick-a-flick AND Requests, so I think they’re planning on keeping what’s already there. Can’t image why they wouldn’t at this point.

Richard Maurer

The problem with adding only 4 movies is that you can’t add any more just for upvote. You have 10 films before you add any only for upvotes. That’s fine if you have 4 films you care about but I think most of us have more than that. Still, I get it, if you want to add more films you have to make a sacrifice. Which I’m willing to make.

Richard Maurer

I guess the Snyder fans only care about Man of Steel - that is over 400k in 6 months.

Richard Maurer

Milton - if anyone cared about us plugging other reactors I’m sure the mods would tell us about it. I’ve never seen anyone on the PiB side say anything about not mentioning other reactors.

bgb1975 (Brian)

"My favorite thing I've seen Robert DeNiro in." - Cassie. 'nuff said.

Ian Tonge

I've been thinking about more sci-fi movies that would be a good fit for Cassie, and I think a really good choice would be Cowboys & Aliens (2011). It's not exactly the best movie ever made, but it's an enjoyable and competently made bit of escapism that ticks a lot of Cassie's boxes. You've got Daniel Craig as the lead, Harrison Ford as a grumpy old man, cowboys doing cowboy things, aliens doing alien things, laughs, action, and a solid supporting cast.

Clarence Newman

I did my 10 faves and uploaded quite a few more. Ran out of steam at the 350th entry because I'm not going through 76 pages.

Clarence Newman

As for the 3 or 4 polls a month, Joe, it's a good idea, but I'm not sure that'll happen for a while. Based on her last update post, she's got quite a backlog of intendeds to get through first.

Mark White

Yes Gray, good movie and Cassie will be delighted to see Rocky in there.

Mark White

To be honest Richard, I only mention because it’s in the states this time. So it might gain more interest from the U.S based PiB Patreons. The last time was 1994! The World Cup is only every 4 years as well. So it will be a while before Cassie gets another chance.

Mark White

You are Lucky Clay, wish I could go!

Mark White

I’m guessing you will want USA to be dumped out early Clarence?! Every Spurs fans seam to want Poch back in charge this summer!

Mark White

Or Joe, you could get Brazil or Germany! Paired up with Under siege 😉

Clay F

She hasn't seen Taxi Driver or The Deer Hunter yet.

Chris Thom

Kind of surprising. Horror of Dracula sounds like a more European name, and then it would be simpler here.

Chris Thom

With all the darkness in the news, now may be the appropriate time for Eyes Wide Shut. Kubrick knew some things, apparently. Maybe wait until after Love Month though.

Chris Thom

Dang, hard to resist cowboys and aliens doing cowboys and aliens things. Got my vote.

Richard Maurer

Chris - Horror of Dracula is the US title because at the time it came out (1958) Universal Studios still owned the US title rights to ‘Dracula’, so Hammer films added ‘Horror of’ to the title to get around that.

Cole Jennett

Coincidentally Richard, that’s the only good one, lol.

Cole Jennett

Nothing is wrong with mentioning other reactors, as long as it’s mostly positive.

Richard Maurer

Mark - whatever it takes to get more March Madness style polls, that’s all I care about. It’s easily the most interesting “poll” of the year.

Mark White

It definitely gives variety.

Richard Maurer

Clay - much as I like Taxi Driver I wouldn’t bet on Cassie liking DeNiro in that role. Same goes for Deer Hunter, to a lesser extent.

Mark White

I’ve just gone over there Richard and I think I have voted for it. I haven’t checked this out before, so I’m still learning! Do you just click the upwards pointing arrow next to it?

Richard Maurer

Yes, that’s all you need to do. And thanks.

Clarence Newman

Mark. I will not be watching the World Cup. I've long since lost all love and enjoyment for the game of football.

Richard Maurer

Mark - the Up arrow turns blue when you upvote a movie.

Richard Maurer

HoD is up to 99th place now after a couple of people up voted it. Even though I have as number 1 on my priorities it’s still my second highest on the leaderboard. Shin Godzilla (my #2) is at 37 on the leaderboard because 2 other people have it as a priority movie.

bgb1975 (Brian)

I realize I'm going to take some guff for this one, but IMHO, both Taxi Driver and The Deer Hunter are vastly overrated.

Mike Lemon

That's old news, I upvoted Dracula a while ago.

Clay F

Both are AFI Top 100. I think she would like De Niro ok in The Deer Hunter but may not be big on the movie.

Above Average Dave

I can't see her liking Taxi Driver at all. Deer Hunter is 50/50. She'll like the acting, and maybe De Niro's arc. But again, I don't think it'll be a favorite or one she'll ever want to see again.

Clay F

You can still upvote with less than 10 priority entries. Ben confirmed today they are keeping what is there. There were 4 polls in Feb and 3 polls in Dec. A few of the last 14 months had 3 or 4 polls each poll giving a reaction. That's pretty amazing considering she often reacts to 2nd place (and on occasion, even 3rd). Plus, have PAF winner. Also, PPOTM and other executive decisions (e.g., Man of Steel, BvS, ZS Justice League, A Christmas Carol 1984, Rudolph, etc.). Then, there is stuff like March Madness (which Richard asking to do all sports) = reactions. Finally, with only 2 movie slots per week.

Richard Maurer

Clay - I was in a hurry and didn’t write that correctly. What I meant was that you can’t add films yourself for upvotes until you fill your ten priority spots. Of course you can upvote other people’s additions.

Richard Maurer

I’d still tend to vote for them both on a poll though. Both are good movies, she doesn’t have to necessarily like them.

Clay F

Polls the last 14 months. Pollception and preliminary polls don't directly give a reaction. Exception is May Pollception directly gave BHC. Joe J

Wow Clay, that's some work you did there with that list, lol. I think patrons are mostly happy when she reacts to 2nd place, and sometimes 3rd place as well. Easier for Cassie also, saves her having to have more polls.

Clay F

Joe, excellent points. Reacting to 2nd (and 3rd) makes patrons happy and is efficient. Really makes sense to me when there is a strong (close) 2nd. In a sense, reacting to 2nd could mean the poll counts as 2 polls.

Clay F

Ever since PiB March Madness gave us Apocalypse Now, I have definitely been on board.

keoma songs

She hasn't seen Awakenings or Ronin yet either.

Richard Maurer

I’m going to upvote Indictment if I can ever find it again.

SnabbKassa

Reactors have had a lot of trouble with Falling Down. It gets people very angry. I normally hate the idea that things age badly or that they can, but that one did not age well.

Astraeos

Well after having finally watched it, I really gotta recommend Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It's kind of endearing and heartwarming, in a Game of Thrones sorta way, also hilarious. Definitely consider it! I also recommend House of the Dragon, you can form your own opinion on it. I still think there was a lot of good in Season 2, and a lot of build up that we need the next season for. Season 1 though, excellent.

Richard Maurer

I’ll always be on board , no matter what it gives us. For me it’s more about the randomness than anything else. But so far there’s never been a MM tournament where I didn’t have several movies that I cared about in the competition. And considering how many movies are actually in competition it’s highly unlikely that I wouldn’t have at least couple to root for.

Richard Maurer

Shhhhh! I come here to pretend the world isn’t going to hell.

Richard Maurer

My List of Reactors Who SUCK!!!!!! 1) D………….

Clay F

Agree. Good points. The randomness can give different content than poll results -- i.e., content that wouldn't win a poll -- and that you or me might like better than poll results.

Clarence Newman

March Madness generally does the same thing to me as Pick-a-Flick does. It's like a war movie where all the soldiers are trying to get up a hill and getting picked off one by one. Just as the hero of the movie reaches the top of the hill and kills the last Nazi, you can see my guy biting the dust ten feet behind him.

Clay F

Falling Down will win the Robert Duvall poll, so I hope you react to 2nd to give other Duvall movies a chance (e.g., AFI Top 100 movies, though my guess is the gritty police drama "Colors" w/Sean Penn will come in 2nd). On the other hand, your reaction schedule seems jammed pack, so may want to avoid 2nd and just react to the winner Falling Down.

Milton Reduxed

Didn't that feature Hilary Clinton as an extra?

Milton Reduxed

Oblivion (1994) is the superior cowboys & aliens movie

Milton Reduxed

Falling Down aged like fine wine, it's arguably more relevant today

John A

Couldn't disagree more, it aged perfectly. I'm not worried about her loving it, this isn't a watch her love a movie channel, it's a reaction channel

Richard Maurer

Clarence - sometimes one of my movies makes it to the top of the hill - or at least close enough that Cassie takes pity on it and watches it anyway. But at least the film’s fates are not bound to the, let’s face it, rather pedestrian tastes of our fellow patrons. Movies that in a normal poll would never even get near the top of that proverbial hill often do - it all depends on how good are various groups of college kids are at throwing a ball through a hoop. I also enjoy when inevitably some patron writes a frustrated comment about how they have no say in what wins - yep, that’s right, you sure don’t, lol.

Richard Maurer

Don’t start. At best, you’ll have your comment taken down, at worst you’ll get the whole thread taken down.

Chris Thom

Fascinating movie. It's vague enough that it does double as a dark literary fantasy or a literal warning. Can be viewed either way. I do think it's worth seeing, if only because it was Kubrick's final work, and one that he personally thought was among his very best.

Chris Thom

Oh that's right, Apocalypse Now was the winner. That makes me more excited for this, even if I don't particularly care who wins the basketball tourny.

Chris Thom

Sounds like the schedule will be full for the next month. Hoping she still decides to fit in Awakenings. Remarkable true story.

Richard Maurer

Chris - as far as I’m concerned the teams are just playing to see which movie will win. ;-)

John A

If you mentally convince yourself that you'll never win, which is pretty much likely, it makes it more fun

Clarence Newman

Richard. I tend to bite the dust a few steps before you do in PaF. Johnny A. I'm a Tottenham and England fan (English football), so I'm very good at expecting not to win.

Joe J

Cassie just keeps saying it's right around the corner, lol.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - PaF is a different beast than the MM tournament. The odds of PaF are way worse than MM, where you can have more than one movie to hope for, and the odds depend more on what team the movies are randomly tied to than anything else.

Mark White

You did win the UEFA cup only last year! I know it’s tuff being a Spurs fan, but just remember it could be worse, you could be a Gooner! Haven’t won a trophy since??! And it looks like they are going to blow it again! With a draw at Wolves! Next game for them is at White Hart Lane. The ground will be rocking, spurs have nothing to loose and Arsenal have everything to loose and you should get the “new manager” lift. Squeaky bum time!

Cole Jennett

And now the speculation to which reactors start with a “D”😂

Clay F

PiB March Madness can also overcome Cassie bias. Cassie had been dreading the notion of reacting to Apocalypse Now when the March Madness Final Four placed it in her lap.

Richard Maurer

Clay - I think Cassie has (or had) a bias toward the films at the top of Popcorn Requests being the most popular films. But I think she’s starting to soften on that stance, after seeing multiple times that films further down the list do as well or better than the ones at the top.

Richard Maurer

Upvoted Indictment. And Bullitt for Clarence.

Richard Maurer

I was thinking of a specific person, but really it’s that they have a annoying voice rather than actually being a bad reactor.

Clarence Newman

My brother’s a gooner fan, Mark. I believe he is fashioning a noose as we speak.

Clay F

Richard -- good point. As for AN, she recognized that Apocalypse Now was a famous movie but was biased against Apocalypse Now because FMJ and Platoon had cured her of Vietnam War movies -- and she had heard worse things about Apocalypse Now. I think she thought one day she would react to Apocalypse Now but not anytime soon -- and then PiB March Madness thrust it on her.

Richard Maurer

Mystery Alaska only has 17k after 20 hrs - ouch. Edit: not exactly a surprise though.

Old As Dirt Bert

The next Norman Jewison movie (Cassie's seen In the Heat of the Night) should be The Russians Are Coming... - his film before Heat. It was shown at the Berlin Film Festival when new, and the Russians requested a screening (during the Cold War). When shown in Russia, the artistic and perhaps political community was upset that they hadn't come up with the concept. If PAF should ever pop up my selection, we'll all get to see it.

Byrd N. Hand

Or perhaps "Jesus Christ Superstar" for Easter? (Although I'm not sure if it would work copyright-wise, since it's virtually all singing/music. 🤔) The original "Thomas Crown Affair" is another one I'd like to see her do (I don't know why more people tend to push for the '99 version 🤷‍♂️).

Byrd N. Hand

I have no doubt Cassie won't like "Taxi Driver," but, like "2001" and "Apocalypse Now" (which she also wasn't high on), it's a film anyone who claims to be a film aficionado needs to see at some point. For what it's worth, TBR Schmitt's "Assassination of Jesse James" reaction has gotten 35K views in the year and a half it's been up, which Cassie still seems on pace to pass. I'd say that's about as good as you're going to get for that title.

Joe J

60s & 70s in particular has been woefully neglected on the channel.

Patrick Switzer

Looking forward to seeing Moonstruck and Logan's Run and the YT LIVE and the Poppies

Patrick Switzer

I'm looking forward to March Madness also Cassie

bgb1975 (Brian)

Anyone know what time tomorrow's YT live is going to be?

Mark Vaderr

I came here to ask the same thing.

Collar City Guy

I looked back thru the update posts as I had the same question and found on the Feb 4th Upcome Say hello to my little Friend post Cassie says it will be 3pm MST

Chris Thom

Think they usually start between 4pm and 6pm

Rick Williams

Cassie hasn't said yet. Or she forgot to tell us. She normally has them in the afternoon around 3-4 PM Mountain Time. But sometimes there are later. I am going to try and keep an eye out, but it would help me to plan my day it I had a time. I hate when she just pops out a live with 5 minutes warning. But she has never done that for a live package opening. She probably thinks she told us.

Rick Williams

Both versions are great. But the 99 version is better.

MikeLL

Hey, my choice this month is also Russians Are Coming, Russians Are Coming, so double the chances! It is a fabulous movie, I hope one of us gets it on the channel!

Bags Clo

I know I say it every time but Mcfarland USA is Cassie and Carly friendly, Sports, True Story and Kevin Costner.... A Man called Otto another one Cassie and Carly friendly and a real tender, tear jerker!!! Robert Duvall Second Hand Lions and Lonesome Dove....

Clay F

+1 for McFarland, USA (2015) (sport/drama). Kevin Costner. Inspirational. Uplifting. Family. Community. One of my favorite Costner movies.

Rick Williams

Me to. I have to go to a birthday party.

Richard Maurer

Caught it from 7:00 on, lasted longer than I thought.

Rakesh

Re: Snyder fans and Justice League. There seems to be zero A/B testing of thumbnails or titles on this channel to see what works and what doesn't and what can be improved. Why doesn't Ben change the title starting with the first word and change it from [Part 1] to Zack or Justice... This is just basic SEO. You see how quickly the algo adapts what is typical and test to see if it can be improved. Ideally it should have been done a couple of hours after release so you could see the impact.
