It’s Poppy Week! (breathing into paper bag) jk, its just for fun! It will be great! EVERYTHING WILL BE GREAT!

Time is still TBD, our oldest has his last hockey game of the season that day, and our middle son got an added hockey practice-womp womp. Poppies will probs be around 4:30pm MST!

This week we on Patreon we have Tom,Bob and Jon! In Oblivion, Falling Down and GoT! Next week will be Philadelphia Story, Awakenings and GOT season 6 finale episodes.

Our pick a flick winner from the LIVE last week was John P Tucker with the film Fried Green Tomatoes which sounds heartwarming, I’m excited!

I posted two War Movie Polls yesterday! The top two winners from each will go in a final poll on Thursday! Lots of great comments and the polls are close!

A few more things for your radar-March Movie Madness is coming up and the LIVE Selection Sunday (maybe not actually Sunday) will be announced soon!

Ok I think thats it for now-see you Saturday at the show!

The Neo/Fate show

Poppies are legit better than the Oscar’s no cap.

Mac61

The Marquee with the Silhouettes looks cool.

Black_TYGR

Oblivion is sooo good. Joseph Kosinski is a masterful director. can’t wait to check out your reaction! 🤍

Kyle Reese Popcorn Fan

Damn this is a good week. And I love the picture that's being used for the Poppies poster, that dance video and last year was so fun.

Geoff S.

Poppies this Saturday correct?

Joshua Campbell

Looking forward to Oblivion, after this watch Tom Curise again in Mission Impossible Final Reckoning & Morgan Freeman again The Fallen trilogy (Gerard Butler).

Edgar Gonzalez

Oh, falling down Michael Douglas man, one of my favorite films of his (basic instinct is my first one for obvious reasons) 😆

JohnnyUtah

What a banner week we have here! Oblivion looks incredible, falling down is so well acted, and GoT is always worth the wait.

Robert da Spruce

Beautiful silhouettes! 😊 Looking forward to the Poppies! Best of luck with the show! Excited for Oblivion as well!

Jeff Finn

Falling Down for Duvall? Not Tender Mercies, his superb Oscar winner? Or The Apostle that he wrote, directed & starred in...

Above Average Dave

Y’all should get that Poppies illustration printed in a 3’ x 4’ format and framed. Just gorgeous artwork, and a life moment that you both, and especially your kids, will treasure years from now.

Zane From Canada

Hmmm 🤔 I didn't realize Oblivion (2013) is a 1980's sci fi. 😂 Looking forward to Falling Down (1993). Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall are great in this. Love the tagline: "The adventures of an ordinary man at war with the everyday world."

Walter

Wow! The next two weeks are packed with popcorn goodness. It all looks great and I’m looking forward to it!

Bill W

I expect Falling Down to be a great reaction. Also happy to knock More Tom Cruise movies off the list.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Shoot! I'm gonna miss the Poppies! I'll be making a fool of myself playing some irish tunes on the accordion with a band for St. Patty's Day at our local pub. I guess I could ask them to put on the Poppies, but then I would probably be too distracted to perform. Or they might just think I had one too many stouts already. Dangit! The fates are mocking me! Frick...Frick....Fricker!!!

bgb1975 (Brian)

Can't wait for Falling Down. Great Robert Duvall role, too!

Richard Maurer

Cassie - for the March Madness movie selection I hope random will actually mean random. No genres, no top ranked restrictions. So that everyone’s films have a chance to get picked. Please consider it, thanks. Edit: by the way, I personally have several priority and upvoted films in the top 250, so fine, if it’s done that way it doesn’t hurt me at all. But I just want to see it be fairer to everyone.

Richard Maurer

I work Saturday so if it is I will miss the live.

bgb1975 (Brian)

No contest! Could not care less about the Oscars. The Poppies, however, que magnifique!

Milton Reduxed

Top-ranked just makes sense You can put multiple films into the top-250 just by making them your priority picks alone without any wider support

Steve Holton

Yes Geoff, Saturday March 14th

Rene G.

FINALLY some sci-fi thriller stuff.. I liked oblivion. The plot twist caught me off guard.

Eric Mast

I hope I can actually participate in the poppies while it is live.

Rene G.

Btw there's another movie similar to Falling DOwn. It's called God Bless America 2011 starring Bill Murray's brother and directed by Bobcat goldthwait. Go see that as well..

Rene G.

Speaking of Duvall, how about his underrated movie The 6th Day with Schwarzennegger. Quite good movie too. Go see it.

Rick Rodriguez

Holy crap. Awakening, FINALLY. Oblivion, along with Edge of Tomorrow shows Cruise has great Sci fi taste. And while Falling Down is powerful, I hope Duvall central movies get wat he'd like the wonderful Lonesome Dove and his greatest performance in The Apostle. Along with many others like The Great Santini, obviously.

Rick Rodriguez

They are lesser known. But if we advocate, Cassie is pretty great at eventually watching.

Rick Rodriguez

No harm. I miss every special thing due to work.

Nim

That's a very cool sketch in the "thumbnail" 👍

Richard Maurer

Milton - you just made my argument for me. Yes, certain people with enough priority points can artificially inflate their own films into the top 250. How does that serve the patrons as a whole? Or how does that help PiB, if they want to put these films on YouTube? There are many popular films at the bottom of the new request list, whose only crime is they were added later than other films. How’s that fair?

René Ferland

How about Tender Mercies (1983), the one movie for which Robert Duvall won the Oscar for Best Actor. He is singing in that one. :-)

Michael West

It’s Poppies time!! Love the graphic!!! Great lineup this week.

Atreyu Auryn

I really hope that she has already seen the movie. Comments like yours talking about plot twists are spoilers.

Milton Reduxed

'Certain people' = Paid patrons And the new website doesn't favour titles based when they were added, it fixes the issue of the ranking becoming stagnant—Any title can rise & fall, but members have to make a choice what they want to see most. Pick 3 or 4 movies to reach the top 250, and they stand just as much chance of being in a poll as the top 10

Canadianant

The spider falling on you better win the jump scare category

Kawaii Leonard

Didn't realize there was a poll for Falling Down. It's a great movie to rewatch once in a long while.

Gray

Another great week not seen Falling Down or Oblivion but heard good things, i'll have to catchup on the poppies as i'll be stuck at work.

Gray

YT poll also Dirty Harry and 13th Warrior won on that live.

Richard Maurer

Paying patrons who pay more than other patrons you mean. And they already have a huge advantage. This one thing could fair to everyone but’s too much for some people. And Ben told me recently that after priorities and upvotes, date added is the next deciding factor in how a film is ranked, which means that any newly added film that is not prioritized goes to the bottom of the list with 1 upvote.

Clarence Newman

Re the Poppies, my fingers are crossed for the following results: Best Dressed Award: Either Cassie or Carly, I don't mind which. Best Comedy Reaction - Don't care. I was very upset last year when Cassie's reaction to the green jelly bean didn't win. Comedy gold! Special guest appearances by other reactors. Those are always fun. As little AI as possible. Our co-hosts don't need airbrushing. Technical faults and lots of them. I know they stress Cassie out, but one day she'll realise, it's why we love the Poppies. There will be structure, of course, but the best thing about the Poppies is that it feels like they had a great script, but lost it two days beforehand. This is by no means a criticism, and everything to do with the fact that Cassie and Carly STILL cannot do plastic and pretentious very well. Five years into the ride, that's pretty impressive. Beyond that? Commence au festival!

Patrick

Awesome you guys looking forward to seeing the POPPIES

Dan M

Breath Cassie…BREATH!! I’m sure you go through this before every Poppies show, and look what happens. Each of the past 4 Poppies has been FANTASTIC (with maybe a few hiccups here and there). AND i have no doubts that this year’s will be no different, and probably the best yet! Can’t wait! See you on the Poppies carpet!

Clarence Newman

That Poppy Awards silhouette picture is scary. Cassie is clearly doing the spooky run from "Weapons". Carly has noticed and is about to boot her in the shin.

Mark White

Hi Cassie,…..Holy Crap!! That’s quite the week!! So it’s the Poppies, Falling Down and Oblivion and GoT! That’s a lot in one week! Sorry Cassie, I’m probably not helping with your frayed nerves here! But I’m excited! 🤪😃 You will be fine, you always seam to pull everything together so well. You are a trooper! 💪 I’m a big fan of falling down, one of Micheal Douglas best performances and Duvall is great in it too. I think you may like Oblivion and I’m, like you, properly hooked on GoT now! You are the best ❤️

Joe J

Richard, I see the system serving patrons who use it, right? Patrons who don't should have no say in my book. PR Requests was never designed too be fair to all patrons. Its a pay-to-play model...higher tiers pay more, they get more higher-ranked films.

Uncle Phoenix

I love how Cassie tells us that her reactions are completely dependent on Real Life. Lets Go. Hoping and Praying that little Popcorn has a great hockey series.

MikeLL

Let's just say I'm much more interested in next week with the goings on in Philadelphia and GOT finales than I am in this week. But this week is fine with GOT and Falling Down. Tom, I'm tolerating because I've never seen this Oblivion film, but call me curious. But next week, pure FIRE!

Tyler Hale

Ahh going back to see your friend Tom

AceofSpades501

That's a fun poster for the Poppies.

Collar City Guy

So looking forward to the Poppies, but don't worry Cassie you always stress over them and they turn out fantastic as I'm sure they will this year!!

WestBound

I'm ready ! Side note - have you seen that IG trend of "what were the 90s like "...you should totally jump on that one !

Joe J

Maybe she could throw-in a random poll at the end...get another winner like "Earth Girls are Easy", right? We haven't forgot Cassie, I'm sure it's on the upcoming schedule...Lol.

Fanny Adams

Cassie would you have a tentative date for when you'll be doing Dirty Harry? Very much looking forward to that one!

Collar City Guy

You've got to ask yourself one question Fanny, do you feel lucky, well do you?

Clarence Newman

We've definitely forgotten about that one. It's like George Clooney playing Batman. Never happened.

Frank Edwards

Now and again Cassie reactions do not migrate over to YouTube for one reason or another, but I asked with my fingers crossed, will The Day the Earth Stood Still be there sometime in the future?

Fanny Adams

I was wondering about that too

My_Cousin_Mose

Have you ordered the jelly beans yet?

Joe J

Assume Dirty Harry will be sometimes in March....Cassie will never confirm any "tentative" dates...she just never does. Her schedule has always been more fluid than many reactors I follow.

Joe J

I assume yes...it's a classic film. Safe to say it'll do better than the Jesse James movie, lol.

Milton Reduxed

@Richard — Unless polls are being sourced from the 1000+ ranked request zone, then it doesn't matter whether films on the same points are arranged alphabetically or date-added PiB only watches about 100 films per year, it makes sense to watch the ones most popular with the audience. The strength of the new system is you don't need broad support to get films onto the top 200-500. You just need to make a choice which movies you are most keen on. Before you could only give a movie 1 point, so this is more favorable to lesser-known films you have a greater desire to see

Joe J

In my book if it wins a Poll...it gets watched.

Joe J

Youtube mob was our friend this time, lol.

Jimmy Stewart

I'm so excited for Philadelphia Story next week, can't wait!

Clay F

I wonder if The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) will get enough YT views to pay for editing costs. I think it will. Joe, are you predicting 40,000+ views?

Joe J

Cassie has never gone beyond Top 500 for any Poll...just saying.

Mike Redford

Can't wait for that one either. Always fun when she reacts to clint eastwood lol, and dirty harry's as cool as they come

Frank Edwards

If 40K is the magic number Cassie should have no problem getting that many as Jen Murray's reaction got 61k with about 1/5 the subs

YodatheHobbit

Mmmmmmm, yum that's a good fortnight of Popcorn!

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that 40K is sort of the 'break-even' threshold for the channel at this point. Fortunately, only handful of videos still haven't reached it.

Mike Redford

Pretty fun coincidence that the poppies and the special Firefly announcement come the same week. Those were such good reacts, cassie. #SHINY

Christian Becker

Hm, Oblivion - I’ve seen it once, but I can’t remember anything about it. But I’m sure Cassie will render it tolerable to watch along with - as always! Falling Down, on the other hand, I know exactly where I watched it for the first time: on a trip to Berlin with my girlfriend. :-) GoT will be GoT — so a “Happy Valar Morghulis” to everyone. Poppies — my first time attending, if I’m still awake in the middle of the night ;-)

David Bockly

If Cassie can get 64,000 views on YouTube for watching paint dry she certainly should be able to get at least that for a classic like The Day the Earth Stood Still!

Richard Maurer

The views for the algorithm (the main reason many reactors do YouTube) need to happen in the first 24 hrs. After that their value drops day by day. So basically 50k in the first day is much more important than 100k in a month.Unless something has changed since last I checked, that’s just how it is.

Bill W

Looks like another year without a St. Patrick's Day flick. 😔

AceofSpades501

Is Oblivion for YT supposed to be, The Day the Earth Stood Still?

Richard Maurer

Joe - that she’s never done it before is a reason to do it in my book. “The higher tiers pay more they get they get more high-ranked films (and other perks) - yes, but lower PAYING tiers have access to Requests too. Maybe they can’t afford to pay more than they are now. So they deserve some say. Let everyone have a stake in March Madness not just the privileged few.

Milton Reduxed

I don't know why, but for some reason I'm not buying Richard's Che Guevara routine 🤔

Richard Maurer

Milton - 1000+? I was thinking any film with 1 up vote, all 3000+ of them. Again, you’re contradicting yourself you say it makes sense to watch the ones most popular with the audience - then say you don't need broad support get into the top 200-500 - both things cannot be be true. A film without broad support is simply not a “most popular” film. And I defy anyone to go through the top 100 films and honestly say all of these films are popular. Some aren’t popular with more than a couple of people here. I know how this system works and I’ve used it to my advantage - as much as I was willing to. But I’m not delusional enough to claim all my priority films are all popular films. They’re not, and neither are anyone else’s

Just Plain Bob

You can’t remember Oblivion because it’s not memorable. I read somewhere that they were going for a 70s sci fi vibe. They failed miserably. I was bored the first time I watched it and, when I tried to watch it again recently, gave up entirely.

Richard Maurer

Milton - Che? Better than Musk anyway. What do I gain from my position on this? Actually I would be just as likely to loose. I have 2 priorities in the top 100, 1 more in the top 300, 3 more in the top 400. I also have 37 upvoted films between 1 and 500. So if I were only thinking about myself I'd be going along with top 1 to 500 (or less) to increase my odds - damn, I almost convinced myself to go along with it. Truth is I still "win" if the films are chosen top 100 to 500. The only thing I get out this, other than my stated goal of fairness, is I do love the idea of pure random chance, that any movie could win, even if it's a movie I hate. But that alone wouldn't be enough to make me give up my top-rated advantage, it just sweetens the pot.

Milton Reduxed

Well there we differ. I loathe to see a wasted slot Even something like Logan's Run felt wasted to me. It won a poll, probably because it's in colour and has name recognition—but there was almost no interest in it and Cassie also was lukewarm

Richard Maurer

Bob Haven’t seen it but the trailer did not do it for me so I haven’t exactly been eager to see it. Now you got me to care even less about seeing it.

Richard Maurer

I’d rather see something like Logan’s Run than most of the film’s we’ve been getting since last November.

Milton Reduxed

So you enjoyed the poll winner there, and have multiple films you like in the top 250 that might be in march madness

Joe J

Be kind of sad if it doesn't beat Logan's Run...😨. As I recall, a big reactor hasn't done TDtESS.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, so what? March Madness is a singular thing - most random, no ones get to vote on the films. they’re picked randomly all depend the basketball team they’re randomly tied to. The difference with what I want is to greatly increase the pool they’re drawn from. Doesn’t seem a lot to ask to me.

Clay F

Lies -- good point about Jen's reaction.

Popcorn In Bed

we had watched oblivion first to match carly’s schedule, and then matt just edited it first! TDTESS will be next week

Joe J

Every paying patron does have a say. All paying patrons get some points allocation and unlimited upvotes. Just got to get in there and upvote your favorites. I do feel films should be expected to show some interest level via the # of upvotes. I think at least (3) upvotes would be my threshold for any film to be eligible for Polls.

Chris Thom

I was thinking the same thing. If they're getting it catered, I hope the company is aware of her history with the green ones.

Clay F

Looking forward to GoT, as usual, not primarily b/c of the content (which I do like – an iconic series), but b/c of your reaction and investment. Looking forward to the Poppies and Live Selection for March Madness. Congrats to John P Tucker for his PAF win. It has been maybe 25-30 years since I’ve seen Falling Down – I will watch the reaction. Seems like I remember liking Oblivion ok – I will watch the reaction.

Milton Reduxed

It isn't a lot to ask, but may deliver a winner fewer people are interesting in watching—so strategically doesn't make sense for a business. That's where Hollywood went wrong

Clay F

PIB YT movie reactions w/least views. 23k – The Manchurian Candidate (2004) 25k – Just Mercy (2019) 27k – Moonstruck (1987) 30k – The Assassination of Jesse James 33k – The Rainmaker (1997) 36k – Mystery, Alaska (1999) 36k – A Monster Calls (2016) 40k – Selma (2014) [A great reaction.] 41k – Now and Then (1995) 41k – Bringing up Baby (1938)

Joe J

I'll catch the YT edit. A modern film with Cruise I would expect a reasonable length edit.

Just Plain Bob

Richard, I’d be curious to hear production details. I suspect it’s one of those films whose budget blew up when they signed an A list star. And sometimes more money can be bad. It feels like a movie that had some interesting ideas behind it that devolved into an effects movie.

Richard Maurer

Joe - Saying this have you been to bottom of the list? Because I go there frequently, am frequently surprised by the films stuck down there. I strongly disagree that all the most popular films are at the top. It wasn’t true of the old PR list and it’s especially not true of this list. I see movies I know to be popular thoughout the list.

Clay F

Pre-1980 movies 41k – Bringing up Baby (1938) 45k – The Shop around the Corner (1940) 45k – Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1970) 47k – The French Connection (1971) 50k – Nosferatu (1922) 53k – Three Days of the Condor (1975) 53k – It Happened One Night (1934) 55k – Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) 55k – Anatomy of a Murder (1959) 56k – Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) 57k – A Fistful of Dollars (1964) 58k – Scrooge (1970) 59k – Logan’s Run (1976) 62k – The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) 64k – To Catch a Thief (1955) 67k – Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) 68k – The Searchers (1956)

Clarence Newman

Cassie is probably trying to work out her March schedule as we speak: "Do I have six slots left or only five? Tell you the truth, I've forgotten myself in all the excitement."

Clarence Newman

Richard used to go to the bottom of the list to hang with his picks. He then acquired friends in high places and only comes down now to check that Rhinestone's still there.

Frank Edwards

Good news Cassie said it will be on YT next week in a post above

Richard Maurer

Clarence- One movie that actually belongs at the bottom.

Joel Wayne

Should do High Society (1956) along with it.

Clarence Newman

I cannot drop a like on such a misguided statement. I have instead liked my own comment.

Joe J

Popular in the database will always just reflect patron wants, never will align with real-world popular. I have gone through the entire database for the films I've upvoted.

Richard Maurer

Joe - I know that most people don’t go through the entire list, so the list primarily reflects patrons wants among the films at the top of the list.

Joe J

I'm ambivalent about March Madness. Purely random process in which we have no input. If a favorite film randomly gets assigned to a Top ranked team, my interest will perk up some...otherwise I just expect an early exit. Top 8 ranked teams as of today. No team ranked outside the Top 11 has ever made the Final Four. 1. Duke 2. Michigan 3. Arizona 4. Florida 5. Houston 6. Connecticut 7. Illinois 8. Iowa State

Catherine LW

Ooohhhh, CK Dexter Haaaaaven!!!

2-Can

Suggestion for March madness - reward the biggest upsets for the first 2 or 3 rounds with a watch. Call it the UPSET WATCH!

Milton Reduxed

BTW everyone bear in mind the website is still in beta testing. There was a note previously saying not to spend ages putting every film you like on because it would be wiped before the website was relaunched—though that note is not there currently

Richard Maurer

Milton - the reason that note is gone is that Ben has confirmed they will be importing this list to the new website. I wouldn’t have put so much effort into the list otherwise.

Richard Maurer

Joe - everything you said is why I love MM.

Richard Maurer

I’d like to speak to Harvey, thank you.

David

Reviews movies are the king's speech west side goodnight mister tom how to train your Dragon the neverending story Lion of the Desert Cassie and Carly first time watching movie reaction

Paul Polpiboon

OBLIVION!!! I can't wait for you to see that cool item, one of Tom's best. It's very identical in structure to The Matrix film, I think you'll enjoy it. I mean, it's Tom. C'mon lol

ShazD

Commas exist

Chris Thom

After The Birdcage this week, I'm definitely seeing Albert's walk now in the Poppies flyer even though I don't want to. Lol. Looking forward to The Poppies. I'm sure it will be great. And if everything doesn't go to plan, I think most of us here just enjoy the chance to chat with you and Carly. So immediate win. Happy March!

Chris Thom

I just remember the cinematography being very pretty and one of the twists. And a cabin by the lake. Was hoping to watch it now, but it's another one on zero streamers. What the hell, I pay a lot of money for all those and they never seem to have any of these PIB movies. Or maybe 1/4 of what's on the schedule.

Richard Maurer

The fact that patrons have no input - chefs kiss. Everyone complains about what the patrons pick in polls, something is finally done about it - complain about that too.

Chris Thom

What happened with Firefly?

MikeLL

I finally moved my request lists from the old Popcorn Request site and put them in Ben's new creation. Just in time for the March Madness picks, as I assume all the new picks will be from the new site. I'm very glad I did. By putting my Pick A Flick choice in as my #1 pick, it is now in the top 100 films, meaning it might get chosen for Madness or other random poll picks. I noticed that the the bottom of the top 100, #'s 98, 99, and 100 all had a single person making the films their top priority, with no upvotes, and that was enough to get those films in the top 100.

Chris Thom

How many movies are you allowed to contribute to the list?

Milton Reduxed

I've prioritized Wall Street to #202 If a few people could upvote to get it in the top 200 I'm hoping it might make March Madness

MikeLL

As many as you wish. But only your top ten get extra points for being prioritized. All others just are like getting an upvote. I put in about 25 films. But my #1 film is my Pick A Flick choice. Thus it gets extra points in the system for being prioritized as my first choice. Your second pick gets less points and so on and so on.

Joe J

I have my right too complain...right? At least with random polls, I still get a vote. Sure, MM is just one event, but I still find zero engagement boring.

Joe J

Every super old film Cassie watches stars Cary Grant, lol.

Clay F

"Everyone" does not complain about patron's picks (winner = plurality of voting patrons) in polls -- only some of the patrons who didn't win or get their preferred choice. May seem like everyone because the complainers can be very vocal. I have been very happy with some poll winners, and like having input. I also like throwing MM in the mix. I can get a reaction to a movie I like that doesn't win polls or she doesn't include much in polls or she unlikely to make an executive decision to react to the movie. I am still reveling that we got a reaction to Apocalypse Now b/c of MM -- there was no way she was going to react to Apocalypse Now anytime soon otherwise.

Clay F

I noticed a little more activity at Requests the last two days. I'm glad. Milton, I upvoted Wall Street. I don't know been decided whether new Requests or old PR will be used to populate MM. I got the feeling from the unpackaging Live that the old PR might be used -- but who knows. Currently, an Extra Butter patron assigning all their 180 points to a movie (w/o help from other patrons) places that movie at about No. 60. A Kernel patron assigning all their 150 points to a movie (w/o help from other patrons) places that movie in the No. 98-102 range. I like that the system favors higher tier patrons, but a single high-tier patron assigning all their points to a single movie placing that movie in the Top 100 (w/o help from other patrons) seems a little much. Yet, that patron does sacrifice in not having remaining points to assign to other movies. Moreover, I think as patron participation increases in the system, higher tier patrons will no longer be able to position a movie in the Top 100 (or even Top 200) without help from other patrons.

Joe J

I was surprised Apocalypse Now never won a War poll. It did lose (32%) to Platoon (40%) way back in the 2023 Vietnam War Poll.

Clay F

Yeah -- AN was competitive in that War poll -- but I think Cassie backed off having war polls (and war movie reactions) after 2023. She especially was cured of Vietnam War movies after FMJ and Platoon.

Clay F

War genre content (below) on channel 2021-2022 and 2024-2025. For series, assumed 2 episodes equivalent to 1 movie in run time. Years 2021-2022 were banger years. YEAR 2021 (18 movies equivalent) = 2017 (2019), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Band of Brothers (2000) (10 episodes), Hacksaw Ridge (2016), The Pacific (2010) (10 episodes), Black Hawk Down (2001), Master and Commander (2003), Fury (2014), Dunkirk (2017), Braveheart (2017). YEAR 2022 (12 movies) = Glory (1989), Lone Survivor (2013), Legends of the Fall (1994), Full Metal Jacket (1987), The Patriot (2000), Jojo Rabbit (2019), We Were Soldiers (2002), The Great Escape (1963), The Hurt Locker (2008), The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), Taking Chance (2009). YEAR 2024 (8.5 movies equivalent) = Lincoln (2012), Masters of the Air (2024) (9 episodes), Memphis Belle (1990), Apocalypse Now (1979), Das Boot (1985). YEAR 2025 (6 movies) = Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Cold Mountain (2003), Patton (1970), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), The Pianist (2002), Bridge of Spies (2015).

Clay F

Of the top of my head, 3 poll losses I was devastated: -Thelma & Louise losing to Adventures in Babysitting. -TGWTDT (2009) losing to Das Boot (1981). -Three Kings (1999) losing to Cliffhanger (1993).

Joe J

Clay - I'm glad Cassie chooses to watch 2nd place, sometimes 3rd, from many polls. Good for us and less work for her. I guess she'll get around to most every movie worth watching if she keeps the doors open 5 more years.

Joe J

Cassie wins all the awards....really kills the anticipation. 😜

K, Zachary

Dear Poppy Girls, and the PIB viewing public. About Last Week: All we watched was GOT, I know I know The Day The Earth Stood Still I remember from childhood but I remember it being completely unrealistic. Watch the new version of Nuremberg (2025). That's all I am going to say. GOT was good though. The Week Ahead. The Poppies!!! I think my gf Eva is more excited about the Poppies then I am. Then there is March Madness The 4 #1 seeds will be Duke, Arizona, Michigan and Florida. We trimmed down our picks the last to go was Fried Green Tomatoes. If we weren't trying so hard for Cassie to watch a Sharon Tate movie. This would be at the top of our list. Now to the movies I know that the guy who directed Oblivion is from a part of Iowa I know well, and I actually did like it overall. Well I well leave it that. Falling Down is one of my Dad's favorite movies. In fact my friends and I loved it too. My gf found it to be well nevermind that now. More GOT one step closer to episode 6-9 several of my family members and her family members favorite episode. Again this just our opinion and not based on any consensus. Song Of The Week: I don't why this song popped into my head it just did. Here is The Offspring with Gone Away. https://youtu.be/40V9_1PMUGM?si=drESoWtUlfQIAGm7

I am I misremembering, because I think I remember the poll that Dirty Harry won, along with the other polls that night, were taken from the new Requests list?

Richard Maurer

Joe - you already complained all over my post, turn about is fair play. :-)

Richard Maurer

Clay - obvious hyperbole aside, everyone here complains about poll winners - now and again.

Clay F

True -- we all have our moments when we are saddened by a poll result. Sometimes, I will use the phrase "I can't believe ..." or the word "travesty."

Clay F

If I remember, she used google to do random number generator 1-100 to select 4 movies for one preliminary poll and 4 movies for another preliminary poll -- then faced the winners of those two preliminary polls in a final poll. I think Dirty Harry was the ultimate winner. That is the only time she has used the new Requests to source polls. I don't think meant as a ringing endorsement that Requests will now be used this point forward to source polls but instead to draw attention to the beta Requests being developed and tested.

Richard Maurer

I guess we’ll find out which one they use.

Chris Thom

Only question is how many Carly will win.

MikeLL

At least I have my requests in on both sites.

Richard Maurer

I would prefer the new one. My movies are more spread out on the new list.

Richard Maurer

I tend to go with “boring”, “mainstream”, or “overrated”. But in extreme cases I’ll call the winning film “trash”.

Mike Redford

Recently, Nathan Fillion has been posting videos meeting with the other cast members from the show, leading people to believe the show might be coming back. It's been confirmed It's not just for a convention or podcast. But we'll see. The announcement is supposed to come the 15th, day after the poppies

Patrick

Cassie have you seen Miracles From Heaven with Jennifer Garner. It is a real life true story. I'm sure you will like it very much

Joe J

I believe Jen Murray will be following in the footsteps of Cinebinge and offering unblurred full-reaction watch-alongs. The movies are hosted on another server somewhere, not on Patreon. I know that Cinebinge did get legal advice, but seems very risky if the hammer comes down. Certainly a way to get many more patrons.

Clarence Newman

I was thinking about that the other day while watching a full GoT reaction. Obviously, it would be better if the actual show was unblurred, but I get why it isn't and I don't expect Cassie to take such a big risk by changing that. What did come to mind was that I wish the show was just that little bit less blurred. It's a particular problem when a scene is dark (happens a lot on GoT) and I need to resync with my own copy halfway through (generally a DVD). The DVD playing app on my computer can be flaky sometimes, or maybe Cassie's video buffers for a few seconds, so the sync is knocked off. Sometimes it's a real pain trying to resync because the little GoT window on Cassie's video is *so* blurred and *so* dark, it's really hard to know where you are. Therefore, I'd like to ask Ben and Cassie that question. Do the movies/tv shows in the little window have to be *that* blurred? Can they not be just a little bit clearer, so it's easier to see where we are in a scene?

Clarence Newman

If only Carly would watch more scary films, we could definitely initiate a "Blue Blanket Award" for most woosey, "Nope, I'm Outta Here" moment.

It is even more risky for an American based company to challenge copyright law in this way. Both Cinebinge and Jen Murray are based in Canada, which may have influenced their decision to try this.

Mike Lemon

Cinebinge and Jen are idiots then, especially by advertising they are blatantly breaking copyright. It only takes one company to push it and that company WILL WIN, it isn't even a question. There is no doubt that a full reaction doesn't come close to fair use (see the current H3H3 copyright kerfuffle). The companies generally let edits slide (strike wise) because that is a very slightly gray area and they don't want to risk a loss, plus it does get them some eyes on the streaming services. They get nothing from a full reaction. Risking a lifetime in prison and millions in fines for the convenience of people who can't figure out how to sync a movie or find a copy is pure stupidity. edit to include link to H3H3 summary by lawyer- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbCWi4VCsHA

ArtemusPrime137

Hopefully there will be a choice because the only way to get the commentary of our favorite reactors is to have the audio from the movie or show playing at the same time. Youtube audio is never going to compare with my dolby atmos system and it's impossible to sync exactly so you don't get the annoying echo effect.

Popcorn In Bed

that’s a good question and feedback-well look into it

Fanny Adams

Ta, Cassie, good news indeed!

So, I read that William Shatner just underwent shoulder surgery due to a fall from his horse. I pray he recovers well, not a given at his advanced age. He turns 95 on March 22.

It's practically the Ides of March! Which reminds me. It is March 2026, and I hereby advocate for *that* version of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). [#015] Dedicated to Richard Maurer.
