The return of the Hound!

Wes

Ellie!… I mean Lyanna! 😁

Daniel J Fort

Damnit Cassie why you gotta drop these bangers while I’m at work! Lmao 🤣

Dave

Can we PLEASE stop hinting at things to come, and just let the series reveal itself to her? That would be great .

Paul W

This is considered a spoiler

Bill Maurer

I've been away from any and all chats ... pretty much for the past 4 months. Has it ever been asked if Carly has watched this series or will she ever be interested in watching GoT or is it not her cup of tea? Thanks

Sean Carroll

And yet it is easily one of the most nonsensical episodes in the show and actually ruins the episode because of how ridiculous some of it is with no logic at all

Mike Lemon

"Has it ever been asked if Carly has watched this series" Yes, the answer is no. "or will she ever be interested in watching GoT" She likes the idea of it not the execution. "or is it not her cup of tea?" It's not.

Dave

GOT is not for Carly, she won't be watching

Clarence Newman

Ah! I thought I detected a disturbance in the force. Generally means something good is about to drop out of the Popcorn dispenser.

JohnnyUtah

That's what I'm talking about! Monday night viewing is upon us!!!

Clarence Newman

That's a big fat no, Bill. Cassie and Carly were discussing it at The Poppies yesterday. Carly said she was intrigued by it, but has heard too much about the sex and violence and rock n' roll. She won't be joining Cassie any time soon.

Bill Maurer

Thanks all. Again, I have not joined a chat or live discussion or anything since probably Season 2 of GoT and wondered about Carly's thoughts on it.

Clay F

A couple of months ago: Cassie: "You're never going to watch Game of Thrones, right?" Carly: "I know, I can't handle it." Cassie: "Yeah, I know you can't too."

Clarence Newman

I have a question I've been meaning to ask for quite some time. Why can we not see the recap in a little inset box while it's playing? Cassie comments quite a bit on the recap but we don't know what she's looking at and it makes us sad.

John

Majorie drew a rose, the symbol of House Tyrrell to tell her grandmother that she's still a Tyrrell. She's still herself.

DavidJPL

This S6-Ep7 is one of only a handful of GoT episodes to use a 'Cold Open'; with scenes occurring before the Title Theme Music. Normally, these have only been the first episodes of a few Seasons; like the Pilot Episode, and S4-Ep1 "Two Swords", and a couple others. But the Showrunners David & D.B. have said "Inside the Episode" (*) that they did this specifically for this mid-season Ep7 so that no one would see the actors' names in the credits before the big reveal. It's also worthwhile to go back and re-watch the opening few minutes of S3-Ep3 "Walk of Punishment" for 'Lord Tully's Funeral'. This is a great scene (a 'look-away' shot! lol) as an awesome refresher of the two Tully men: Edmure, and Brynden 'The Blackfish'. :) * And does anyone know if Cassie is watching the "Inside the Episode" segments on HBO Max after each episode? They are really informative and interesting recaps, and never contain any future spoilers at all. I highly recommend them.

DavidJPL

I'm curious too. Although I actually do a quick, approx. sync / guess and play those recaps along with her too. Also I think the "long" Opening Credits ( that frustrate Cassie sometimes lol ) , would be a great time for her to be chatty with recaps... ; "Oh Winterfell, where are Arya & Sansa? What's happening in Dorne? Old Town is where Sam & Gilly are going! What's Dany up to in Mareen?" Etc., etc. :)

Tater

You're thinking of Winston from the John Wick series would be my bet.

Tyler Lathrop

Feel free to watch 9 & 10 asap Cassie lol

Michael West

Wun Wun, a giant of few words...."Snow".

Bammer

The man always talking to Sandor that you recognize played Winston in "John Wick."

Tyler Lathrop

The rose means that it's still her, she's just playing a game in front of the sparrows

Kit Taylor

I'm waiting for 9 & 10 so I can watch all four in a row...

Aaron Ritchie

I can’t wait for 9 & 10. Best two episodes of the entire series.

Richard B

I was stoked to see The Hound and Al Swearengen being Bros in Westeros.

2-Can

The assassin was going so hard after Arya, running like the T1000 that I half expected she would go all liquid metal on her. George RR Martin has said that Arya spent 8 years training with the Faceless Men - although this has not been shown in the books yet. Jaqen seemed somewhat satisfied with her answer and decision.

Mister Lou

The Hound is back! Can't wait the last 2 episodes!

Joshua Fazekas

Episode 9 and 10 need to be watched stat! Can’t wait!

Doug

"I need people... to die" Cassie, 2026 How far she's come.

Inisius

Whoever scans these comments for Cassie should get it set up somehow for her to react to a certain video right after episode 10 is finished.

Clay F

Milk of the poppy is a historical term for opium derived from the opium poppy plant. It is a powerful, addictive analgesic containing morphine and codeine used historically for severe pain relief and sedation.

Kawaii Leonard

The title episode 7, the Broken men, is in reference to one of the best monologues in book 4 but not included in this episode (like a lot of later seasons): "Ser? My lady?" said Podrick. "Is a broken man an outlaw?" "More or less," Brienne answered. Septon Meribald disagreed. "More less than more. There are many sorts of outlaws, just as there are many sorts of birds. A sandpiper and a sea eagle both have wings, but they are not the same. The singers love to sing of good men forced to go outside the law to fight some wicked lord, but most outlaws are more like this ravening Hound than they are the lightning lord. They are evil men, driven by greed, soured by malice, despising the gods and caring only for themselves. Broken men are more deserving of our pity, though they may be just as dangerous. Almost all are common-born, simple folk who had never been more than a mile from the house where they were born until the day some lord came round to take them off to war. Poorly shod and poorly clad, they march away beneath his banners, ofttimes with no better arms than a sickle or a sharpened hoe, or a maul they made themselves by lashing a stone to a stick with strips of hide. Brothers march with brothers, sons with fathers, friends with friends. They've heard the songs and stories, so they go off with eager hearts, dreaming of the wonders they will see, of the wealth and glory they will win. War seems a fine adventure, the greatest most of them will ever know. "Then they get a taste of battle. "For some, that one taste is enough to break them. Others go on for years, until they lose count of all the battles they have fought in, but even a man who has survived a hundred fights can break in his hundred-and-first. Brothers watch their brothers die, fathers lose their sons, friends see their friends trying to hold their entrails in after they've been gutted by an axe. "They see the lord who led them there cut down, and some other lord shouts that they are his now. They take a wound, and when that's still half-healed they take another. There is never enough to eat, their shoes fall to pieces from the marching, their clothes are torn and rotting, and half of them are shitting in their breeches from drinking bad water. (Cont.)

Kawaii Leonard

"If they want new boots or a warmer cloak or maybe a rusted iron halfhelm, they need to take them from a corpse, and before long they are stealing from the living too, from the smallfolk whose lands they're fighting in, men very like the men they used to be. They slaughter their sheep and steal their chickens, and from there it's just a short step to carrying off their daughters too. And one day they look around and realize all their friends and kin are gone, that they are fighting beside strangers beneath a banner that they hardly recognize. They don't know where they are or how to get back home and the lord they're fighting for does not know their names, yet here he comes, shouting for them to form up, to make a line with their spears and scythes and sharpened hoes, to stand their ground. And the knights come down on them, faceless men clad all in steel, and the iron thunder of their charge seems to fill the world . . . "And the man breaks. "He turns and runs, or crawls off afterward over the corpses of the slain, or steals away in the black of night, and he finds someplace to hide. All thought of home is gone by then, and kings and lords and gods mean less to him than a haunch of spoiled meat that will let him live another day, or a skin of bad wine that might drown his fear for a few hours. The broken man lives from day to day, from meal to meal, more beast than man. Lady Brienne is not wrong. In times like these, the traveler must beware of broken men, and fear them . . . but he should pity them as well."

Eudaimonist

There's a theory the Jaqen H'gar and Syrio Forell are the same person and he was a faceless man the whole time. They're both bravossi; Syrio died off screen; it's odd that a faceless man would end up captured like Jaqen was when they met. I don't remember all of the clues, but I like to believe it, personally.

Doug

"That was a good stabbing" Cassie, 2026 So proud of her.

Kevin Farrell

"And he's joined the Amish!" really got me 😆

ArsTropica

Wun Wun for president!

ArsTropica

Also the lore and history videos after she's finished show.

Obie Brown

Just gonna say, the next two episodes are being awaited with much enthusiasm.

Obie Brown

Might be some top tier reactions coming

DAVID COSTELLO

Ian McShane is Winston from the John Wick movies

JL_83

he’s also Blackbeard from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

EricH

What video? Someone should show her Up On The Roof by Robson & Jerome, though.

Clay F

Tobias Menzies did some great acting here as Edmure. Also did great in Outlander series (which you said you watched) in his dual roles of Frank and Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall = Menzies nominated for Golden Globe. I love the final scene. Arya: "A girl is Arya Stark Winterfell and I'm going home." She walks away, with Jaqen seemingly somewhat satisfied or slightly amused.

Daniel John

Dear Lord. Whatever you do release the next two on Friday or Saturday so I can kick my legs up...crack a beer and enjoy what is to unfold without any responsibilities the next day lol We. Are. Here.

Uncle Phoenix

Cassie is so funny when she projects her modern sensitivities onto fictional medieval culture. At the Pirate Bar, you can almost hear her inner feminist dialogue.

Philip Alan

“Out in the open. Like a lollipop.” 😂😂

David Cansler

I'm already jonesin for episodes 9 & 10!!

2-Can

Jaqen was likely hired to kill Ned Stark. He positioned himself in the King’s Landing dungeon so that he could then volunteer for the Night’s Watch. Recall that the deal Ned took was to take the Black before Joffrey had a bright idea to just behead him. By the original agreement, Ned was supposed to be in the group going to the Wall. There is debate over who would have hired the Faceless Men for this (likely Littlefinger, but he may have also put the idea in Joffrey’s head to just execute him).

2-Can

I watched one of Robson&Jerome’s videos on YT - my feed hasn’t been the same since.

Terdell Ferguson

To be admitted into Cassie's Greatest Hits: 1. Out in the open ... like a lollipop and 2. She's the most loyal person who ever - loyaled. Vintage. Absolutely top shelf. Love it.

Natalie Strickland

It is going to be so difficult to wait for eps 9 & 10!!! I have rewatched this show so many times, but seeing it through fresh eyes is so fun. <3

Eudaimonist

Interesting. I hadn't heard that theory myself, but it also makes sense.

Connor P

sooooo Arya should be dead.... lol and technically no Starks asked Lord Glover for assistance. It was a Lannister/Bolton and a Snow

Brian Sheely

I'd give anything for some Milk of the Poppy

Patrick Flanagan

Fan theories like this just make the world smaller, I think.

Patrick Flanagan

...just press Play at the same time she does?

JFC

I'm sure I've asked this before, but I can't find where or if I got an answer. Does Cassie know that Olenna Tyrell aka "The Queen of Thorns" (Margaery's grandmother) is played by Diana Rigg - the same Diana Rigg that was a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and by the end of the movie was THE Bond girl?

Dan

also Al Swearengen in HBO's Deadwood. Something Cassie could never watch in a million years.

Shawn Kildal

She's been told. Don't know if she remembers that fact or not though.

PianoDean

I'm having a bad day with my back and I happen to be watching this on some modern day milk of the poppy and a damn fine watch it's been. This would have been a great time for a quad-drop, but oh well.....how 'bout we get 9&10 by the weekend, Cassie? Summer is coming.

Kyle Reese Popcorn Fan

I can believe she'd survive that. Small knife, gut wound and she was patched up. A woman in the 80s survived nearly having her head chopped off by a killer. She held her head on and made it to help. Look her up, amazing and horrifying story.

Clarence Newman

Absolutely. By the weekend. Yes. Not for any particular reason, of course. Episode 9 is quite boring, but....we don't want to get too stale. We don't even really care. Anytime will do. By the weekend is good, though. Or maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow's fine. I need a tranquilliser.

Clarence Newman

No major arteries, ribs deflected most of the shots, plus Arya must have some serious abs by now so the knife probably broke anyway. As a great knight once said, "Tis but a scratch."

Clarence Newman

Wun-wun? That was the result of my team's football game this weekend.

Clarence Newman

That would probably work if you're streaming, Patrick, but I watch DVDs and there's no recap. It's a very minor issue, though. It's not exactly going to harm my life.

Brian McGovern

Are there any good guys she doesn’t think are hot? Blackfish, robb stark Jon snow. She seems to have it bad for them.😀

Clarence Newman

......Bronn, Pod, Greyworm, Tyrion. She might even be getting a thing for Varys.

Brian McGovern

You don’t need to have your own copy to know what she is seeing at around 1 hour 45 and 30 seconds into the video.🤣

Ignis Rændl

remember when Jaqen told the Waif not to let Arya suffer? the Waif failed her test as she could've killed Arya easily, but she just had to see Arya suffering.

Clarence Newman

Yeah, I never understood why Jaqen allowed the Waif to be that way. Arya got smacked with a cane for telling half-truths and lost her eyesight for taking the law into her own hands, but the Waif....? Seemed like she had her own little rulebook.

Ike

I understood Jaime’s discussion with Edmure, but I’m not sure it translated well with Cassie. Judge we might, those things that motivate people and inspire them to commit awful crimes or accomplish great feats, but whatever that is should be taken seriously. Jaime is telling Edmure that he will do anything - anything - to return to Cersei [insert puke here], but he was serious and successfully conveyed that to Edmure. Cassie seemed to focus on Jaime’s motivation, but ignored his reasoning - end the bloodshed quickly or completely avoid it with a win. She did end up in the middle, which is where I ended up at this point.

Oisin Clissmann

Don't forget Gendry, Oberyn, Tristane...

2-Can

There are YT channels that seem to have put out more content than the show itself - all trying to divine where the books are going. It's not clear that the books will ever be finished - GRRM himself is kind of all over the place on this (ranging from they already are, to he's lost all interest, to he's almost finished with the next one, to his will forbids anyone else from finishing them). So these YT channels can kind of flourish in the vacuum.

Joe J

I was like hey that's Ian McShane playing some random guy who will get killed soon, lol. Sometimes these more well known actors take me out of the story.

Art of Free Speech

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Let's not get this impression that Jaime is a good guy because he was nice to Brienne. Don't let the Halo effect get to you. The dude who beats his wife isn't a good guy because he's nice to the barkeep at his local pub. Being nice to one person doesn't absolve you from all the horrible stuff you've done to others. Jaime is a horrible person. He's physically attractive, so women tend to want to give him a pass, but he's still the guy who pushed Bran out a window, killed his cousin to escape, raped his sister, and so on. I will never understand people that want to believe somehow being nice to Brienne absolves him of pushing Bran out a window.

My_Cousin_Mose

Clarence I think that might fly if earlier this season we didn't see Areo Hotah (the giant guard for Prince Doran) die almost instantly to a single knife in the back. Arya was wearing a full set of plot armor +3 in this episode.

Connor P

Yes, and Arya was stabbed multiple times (with a nice twist to the last stab), jumped into a filthy canal, and magically got patched up by a traveling actor.

Clarence Newman

Easily explainable, gents. The Dornish females knew they couldn't let big, bad Areo Hotah get in a single blow of that huge spiky thing, so they made sure to heartshot him from behind right from the get-go. The Waif went for Arya's ab area because she was too cocky and wanted to mess with her first. The twist had no effect because the knife was one of those round ones like a mini-epee and Arya's adrenaline did the rest. A stretch to believe she could survive that, maybe (Talisa died in seconds at the Red Wedding from a similar assault), but given that The Hound survived even worse injuries AND a day or two's wait before Brother Ray stumbled upon him (Ray said there were maggots crawling over his wounds, which doesn't happen immediately), I'm quite happy to believe anything.

Clarence Newman

Agreed. The way Cassie struggles with her feelings for Jaime pretty much ticks every one of your points.

Burger On Couch

It can be viewed the other way. Someone who has done horrible things is capable of goodness. Goodness is in all of us. Do not discount the good things they do because of what they may have done in the past. Otherwise, how would anyone ever begin to hope for redemption? That seems to tie in to what's going on with the Hound. It's never too late to turn it around.

Omar

I think Jamie’s appearances in her REM sleep have come to an end

Joe J

Damn...I really think Ramsey is gonna get some redemption before it's all said and done...lol.

Joe J

Good for me I'm not watching the reaction, Episode 9 is pretty boring, lol.

Tyler Hale

We’re making progress…

Clay F

S4E7 Intro “I am literally dreaming about Game of Thrones. I had this dream I was with Jamie and Brienne but I wasn’t like an army guy army girl like Brienne, I was like a fair maiden but I was like [holding hands up pushing away] ‘Jaime no, stop trying to date me, your evil, and you’ve done your sister.’ But he kept trying. Anyways, never did. Never did. But then I was like also – I literally dreamt this, I’m not making this up – also I’m suppose to be with Jon [laughing] [holding hand to chest] – cause I’m happily married I promise.”

Brett Richey

And if you're British and of an over 40 vintage as myself... he's Lovejoy. All the ladies loved Lovejoy... that twinkle in his eye as he broke the fourth walk. Classic British television, that while twee and of its time, is a lovely reminder of the beginnings of a great Hollywood legend to be - the great Ian McShane.

dansoddity

we're soooo close to my favourite episode of the entire show(S6E10). it almost feels like i've been watching your reactions to get to that episode.

Art of Free Speech

@Burger On Couch: Sure... wifebeaters have good in them because they drop a dollar to a homeless guy. It still doesn't absolve them from beating their wife. You want redemption for Jaime? Sure... it's possible. I'm not going to post spoilers here, though, and I can't refute your point without them.

Burger On Couch

Let's say there was a Nazi who made his money from the forced labor of Jews and their stolen property. Horrible person, right? Then, after witnessing mass slaughter in Krakow, he has a change of heart and goes on to save 1200 Jews from extermination at great personal cost. Still a horrible person? Maybe. Does that take away from the lives he saved? (I used "redemption" instead of "absolve" for a reason.)

K, Zachary

I was going to leave a donation this afternoon during March Madness but my little sweetie never got back to me about how much I could donate. She just figured I would do $20. 🙄 I was listening to you while taking on our drama king. Our Siberian Husky Amaru. He was chewing my arm then throwing a tantrum. My paternal cousin N graduated from there Lehigh. We just finished GOT after watching most of it last night. Now we come to the season finale. I'm sure you have the title of next episodes Those of you who haven't had a chance to see Peter Dinklage play a totally different role in Dexter: Resurrection? You should

Art of Free Speech

But Brienne has nothing to do with Brandon Stark, or Jaime's cousin, or raping his sister, or threatening to kill Edmure's baby, etc... You can't REDEEM yourself by being nice to other people. Redemption has to come from righting the wrongs you've done. Jaime has done none of that. You don't redeem yourself from beating your wife by giving money to the homeless. You're still a wife beater. A great real world example is T*d Bundy. He used to answer calls to a self-help hotline (it won't let me say which one) and used to walk Ann Rule to her car to make sure she was safe. Does that REDEEM him to the people he killed? Or is he still a psychopath?

Astraeos

What video are you talking about? I'm a pretty rabid GoT fan, and have zero idea what you could be referencing

Brian

I’m so pumped for next week!

Shatner’s Cigarette

"She is the most loyal person who ever.......loyaled." We seriously need t-shirts, folks. LOL

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

IMO, someone CLOSE to Ramsay's story has redemption and one of the best character arcs. I know Cassie doesn't read the comments, but trying not to spoil. But anyone who thinks RAMSAY would do anything as a Nazi, but volunteer to kill anyone and everyone he could doesn't truly get some people are just evil. Not that many, but Ramsay is EVIL. Anyone who thinks he could "find the light" after everything he's done....nope. That okay. He's written to be a vile, POS, with NO redemption and the actor is INCREDIBLE in this role. I mean,,,if you haven't seen some of the stuff he does in the future and then you STILL believe you could/something. could redeem him??? No....He's deliciously evil. GRRM may never finish the books, but he gave us some great character work inside of them...

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

As a fellow chronic back pain (have broken it before) and more I feel your pain and hope your'e feeling much better soon.

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

I have a question: Since Oberyn did technically kill The Mountain wouldn't it be a draw or something? Shouldn't Tyrion be pardoned? Forgive me because I read I book so long ago, but I was wondering if the story is the same in the books to the show or if they changed it a bit, but I just don't see how Cersei and her creepy little Maester got that giant of a man down there with NO ONE knowing that Dornish blades are usually dipped in poison. How did no one think to ask/mention/or did they and Cersei saw to it they...were taken care of? Just wondering if anyone has an answer to this or if it's just an oversight, because technically if both fighters die is there another fight? Is Tyrion pardoned?

Sam

"The hound is alife, and he joined the Amish!" lmao, that was way more funny to me than it shouldve been :D

Bruce Hutton

You might enjoy the song "Little Wolf" a tale of Arya Stark by Karliene. Karliene has a number of songs about Game of Thrones.

Dk

It's crazy not to immediately be like "oh crap, no intro!" How are you not used to that by now???

Kyle Reese Popcorn Fan

Yeah, but it you're still escaping justice for your victims, then you're not looking for redemption, you're still a bad person. Justice for the victims shoulder always come before the victimizer.

Kyle Reese Popcorn Fan

I think your view of "redemption" prioritizes the victimizers to much. Unless they're writing their wrong selflessly, then they havent changed, theyre just treating people besides their victims normally.

VOCFM

Jaime is a complicated person fighting against how he was raised and weakened will power after years of sin to try to be better. In the book he says that losing his hand was just and swore to become "ser Golden hand the Just" Jaime in the book hangs Lannister men for evil and in the book Cersei isn't nearly as against it as it seems in the show, but if I give you that it still doesn't diminish him trying to redeem himself. If you've watched the show and if you actually knew the story you'd realize Bran forgives Jaime, and in reality Bran basically did it to himself anyways because the three-eyed raven needed Bran a cripple to light the fuse on the events that happen in the show. That doesn't void Jaime of moral culpability in the situation as he still chose to do it (although arguably his will was compromised through the three eyed raven) although anyone who knows the ending will know that Bran the Broken was as destined as Hodor. Also Jaime never Kin-slays in the book also Jaime mogs therefore everything you said is irrelevant.

VOCFM

no, Arya should be dead, a literal combat medic buddy of mine confirmed so you are incorrect. She jumped into a shit river after, there's no realm where that wouldn't create massive infection. Citing the hound as living is irrelevant because realistically he also should be dead. Virtually every YouTube channel with a doctor that reviews that scene agrees that she would at the very least have horrific infections and would never be okay that quickly, if not straight up dying. the fact that no vitals or her stomach were pierced is simply unrealsitic

Art of Free Speech

@VOCFM as GRRM and D&D have both stated unequivocally, the show is not the book. Book Baelish, for instance, is vastly different. And Bran "forgiving" Jaime is irrelevant in the show. Moreover, Jaime never seeks redemption from Bran, nor can he from the cousin he killed, and so on. In the show, Jaime is pure evil. He's a POS. There are future actions in the show I won't mention, but they all just confirm show Jaime as an awful person. When a woman forgives her husband for beating her, that doesn't redeem him. He's still a wife beating POS. Or are you saying you're fine with men beating their wives, so long as the wife forgives them, because that would tell me quite a bit?

Conchfritters

I’m watching this with you (my second time through the series). I couldn’t believe that Lord Edmure would just give up the castle like that, but forgot that Jaime directly threatened his child. He was shook. Fair winds and following seas to the the Blackfish
