Top Ten Reasons to Back the Super Powered Legends Kickstarter (Patreon)
Content
We funded the SPL Sourcebook Kickstarter pretty early and then, as often happens, hit a slump. That was expected, and planned for. But now, the campaign's end is just a few days away (Thursday). We'll do a countdown show with BAMF to round out the very last minutes.
But no need for you to wait. You can back the campaign NOW! In fact, here are theTop Ten Reasons to Back the Super Powered Legends Sourcebook II Kickstarter!
10. You Like Me. You Really Like Me!I mean, you're HERE, at my Patreon, so it seems like you like me. Anyway, this is a big project of mine, and while this is the lowest of the reasons to do it, there's nothing wrong with just backing something to help out the creators!
9. You Like Jacob Blackmon. You Really Like Him!Okay, this SEEMS like just a lazy cut and paste. But it's not JUST that. Look, Jacob Blackmon is more than a gamer, author, game designer, and artist. He's a resource, creating tons of stock art, co-hosting podcasts, and being one of the most reliable and swift artists in the tabletop industry. Supporting him is a MUCH better reason to back this Kickstarter than supporting me!
8. You Like Superheroes. You Really (okay, yes, that would be taking this to far). The Super Powered Legends Sourcebooks aren't just write-ups of people with powers. There's a rich, integrated timeline. Yes, it wears its inspirations on its sleeve, but that's a GOOD thing for gamers. I am always in awe of how Jacob manages to weave together the thousand crazy ideas that you find in decades of any superhero continuity, and make them feel more natural than in any comicbook iteration I know of. Even if Mutants & Masterminds isn't your Superhero ttRPG of choice, the ideas, history, art, and timeline of the SPL universe make this book worth backing!
7. You Want to Know Who the Guy On The Cover IsWhen Jacob was first sketching this cover, which IS an homage cover, he had different heroes and villains in the scales. He asked me my opinion. I noted "Presumably we want all of them to be characters outlined in THIS book, rather than the first volume." There was a lengthy pause, and then he replied with "Fair enough!"So, if you are curious about ANY character on the cover, their story is in there.
6. You're Interested In Clever M&M Power BuildsI love M&M, especially it's ability to emulate a WIDE range of characters. I've been playing one or another edition of it for more than 20 years. And I STILL find cool things I've never thought or or seen anyone else do in characters Jacob builds for the SPL Universe.
5. You Want To Be Ready To Say You Were A Fan Back Before IT Was Cool Once The SPL Movie Comes Out.... Okay, maybe I am projecting with this one. But if anyone WANTS to license movie rights...
4. You Are a Red Rook Fanboy And Buy ALL Red Rook Merch!I mean, I can't be the the ONLY one!
3. You Support Small Publishers and Open Gaming Products.See, I didn't even say you like them, you really li... you know.
2. You Have Read So Much Isekai and Lit RPG That You Want To Be Prepared To Be Resurrected In Any Alternate Game Universe!Look, better to HAVE the universe's manual and not need it, than to NEED it and not have it!
1. You Are An M&M GM.There are LOTS of books I recommend for Mutants & Masterminds Gamemasters, and this is definitely one of them! Not only is it full or clever mechanics, great art, and vaguely-familiar character write-ups, just HAVING it lets you lay it on the table (or make it nice and obvious on a screen your players can see), and make them wonder which of the hundreds of things in the book you are going to drop on them next!
Bonus Reason: M&M Designer Steve Kenson wishes he'd thought of it!
So, that's ELEVEN reasons! Go check out the campaign now!
