Each week everyone must either buy a life-offset credit (using money, crucial worker tokens, or a mix of both), or go into the global Life Lottery. Weekly, 100,000 lottery losers are sent to Fitness Island with a timer that kills them in 12 hours.

If a contestant is the first to touch a dead contestant, they gain any life-time that contestant had remaining... to a max of 12 hours. Being dead does not stop your timer, however, so you need new folks to die at a fairly regular rate if you want to survive.
