The Cancelled Testing Videos) This is where it starts to get REALLY shitty. So I had 2 testing videos I wanted to shoot and edit, ready for uploading over the beginning of May. The first was testing my 500th game, but we'll get to that shortly. The other testing video come out of nowhere but I was really excited about it. A family member found a free giveaway of a Guitar Hero Drum Kit, something I've been looking for the past few years. It was free but untested. I made a special trip to collect it and the seller also threw in an untested guitar, good for when I've got a second player. So I got them home and it occurred to me to inspect them before usage and I'm glad I did... the backs were OVERFLOWING with battery acid. So I spent a solid 2 hours or so cleaning them out and getting them ready for testing (this is the sucky part).
I started filming, I already knew the guitar was busted. The Whammy bar was locked in place however I thought I could fix it if I opened it up, I just wanted to see if everything else worked before making the effort. The strumming is VERY finicky and only works when it feels like it so that was just a mess. I quickly moved onto the drum kit... which wouldn't even power on! I'm sure that all of the pads work fine, but due to all the battery acid in that thing, it's destroyed it's ability to power on so the entire thing was scrapped immediately. The original plan was to get them working, learn how to drum because I've never had the chance, then botch my way through a few songs, singing and all that good shit. So fair to say, my pissy mood was justified!
But oh well, for FREE, what can you expect? I still had another testing video: my 500th game which was Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Not really being a smash guy, I put the game in and played through a classic run as well as doing some other challenges and whatever else, really stretching everything out of me at this point. For that reason, the video was very entertaining and felt more forced than anything else... but that's not even the bad part! The fucking game capture crashed for no apparent reason, losing 50 minutes of gameplay footage and wasting my fucking time. I'd taken time away from getting this review script done to shoot these videos just so that I could have some extra stuff going up but that plan has been abolished now. I pretty much packed my gear, calmly sat down at my desk and just laughed in hysteria at how my day was going, moved on and got the review script done. So AT LEAST that's ok... for now at least. I'm expecting an tear in space and time to occur during the shooting of that so we'll just have to wait and see.
But regardless of my struggles, reviews will be starting up again as normal beginning next week. It's actually been a really long time since I was THIS KEEN to just sit down and smash out some reviews so I hope they reflect that, as I'm seriously in the mood to make the shit people want to see! Thanks for reading as always and have a great fucking day!
