Only partly true. The X Premium (not: Premium+) Grok implementation, which was really good in the past, got debased with the arrival of the latest Grok version. Consequently, paying customer got screwed and find themselves using the free version of ChatGPT that I'd far superior to the Grok available to X Premium members. If this is the way, Elon does business, then run!

I just paid $30 for Super Grok. For coding, it seemed better than Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. Has its faults, though. Do you mean I got screwed? the other version is $300/month.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that should be automated. When I started out as a dev in the long, long ago, we could drag and drop UX components and worry more about the business logic. Then the web blew all that apart and UX got stupid hard and time consuming. Having a tool quickly build a UX is how it should be. But don't be fooled, this is not a working application, it's a UX demo. I believe we will eliminate devs doing mundane tasks, but I don't believe we're getting rid of all devs anytime soon.

The Netflix UI is the same tired interface you see on almost every platform, from Amazon to Nintendo. It is what we know AI does well: copy something for which it has multiple reference points. Now, have it recreate the original Xbox UI and I'll take note.

Matas

I'm a software enginner and yeah, you can build UI's with it that look nice, but it's never accurate to requirements(only similar), code quality is usually not that great, still requires quite a lot human input to get ir right. But I believe that one day, we'll get there. The biggest downside for me, is that these models almost never come up with the best solution. At least now, they code like interns or junior engineers.

Build your skills and align it with good process analysis and optimisation. It will always be valuable. In time AI will get there as it interprets better and improves itself. Then you have the skills to identify new gaps and adapt again. All the best.

The UI code isn't the most difficult from a technical standpoint. Any software engineer knows that it is already heavily leveraging libraries and boilerplate code. AI can easily train on that and produce that. Main benefit is you save time having to memorize a bunch of library APIs or rapidly test/prototype something. Not for production though. And missing critical domain system knowledge which is propriety.
