Hello, hope you're doing good and you're ready for some compression!

That elusive dark art studio tool ... complicated weird level controller ... the thing you love or simply the thing most people don't make much use of. When the DYNAMICENGINE came my way for demo I knew I wanted to show a wide range of audio (so set about include you - my lovely patrons) and that I wanted to focus on a wide range of techniques for using compression. All the video details are below.

As a reminder you can find affiliate links (they give me a little bonus at no cost to you) and exclusive discount codes for $5+ a month supporters on THIS POST. Stores discounts and those LED cables I've been using lately. Also to remind you - if you haven't joined Discord and the Patreon community there you're missing out. I'm in there multiple times a day and the community continues to be fantastic! Info on how to link up Discord and join is HERE.

See you in Discord, more next week. ta ta.

VIDEO DETAILS

Welcome to this video in which we explore and demonstrate lots of techniques for using compressors in your sound design and music making. I’ll be using the DYNAMICENGINE Eurorack module from Audio Gear Obsession by you can apply these ideas and techniques to modules, hardware and software - the techniques are universal.

This video also serves as a demo for the DYNAMICENGINE which is a high end fully analogue dual mono compressor and limiter with stereo linking options. There’s lots of input gain, make up gain, balanced connections for studio integration (it works with normal Eurorack too) and it’s designed with an impressed set of specs (see the website for those).

Check out DYNAMICENGINE, specs and more here // https://bit.ly/DYNAMICENGINE

This video is also a community project as I opened up the video for my Patreon supporters to submit there audio so that 1. I could gain a wider variety of audio for the demo and 2. so they could hear their sounds and music through the DYNAMICENGINE. Each patched is credited with the user on screen and linked below too, they’re also mentioned in the timing index below.

Thank you to every Patreon supporter who submitted audio for me to try out, audio from the following appearing in the video

Chris Meyer: Learning Modular + Alias Zone

Compression is admittedly one of my weaker areas, so I look forward to watching this - thank you for mixing in tutorial content along with the normal module review stuff.

Jim Bretherick

Hmmm... I can understand why you might have chosen what you did to illustrate the module. It's a great idea to have a community project like this. Perhaps would however have been better to have mentioned all those willing to be named, who made a contribution to the project - myself included - whether their sounds were present in the final cut or not. Fact of the matter is it´s quid in - but not much pro quo out. Shame really. I´ll get my coat...

Nice video, great range of examples! :)
