I don't expect to find anything that tops or equals this in a long time. It's ok. Quality is rare in art & life. What an amazingly powerful episode. WAY toooo much to type, so my tangent is at the end of the episode. Just wow.

The first time I watched this episode I was crying a river 😭. Btw, I know you mentioned next will be Dan Da Dan, just wanted to mention, curious on what your thoughts be on Mushishi anime, I think probably that goes somehow aligned with Orb, maybe not on story telling but on interpretation as in Mushishi's case is an interpretation of nature.

Been watching anime for almost a decade, and there really aren’t many things in that media that are better than this. Still, I’m very happy that something like this can be released in the modern day, imo more relevant than ever, with people losing sight of what is truly important. Going to become a modern classics for sure✌🏻

Nowak is probably just my favorite villain in a story ever, he is so well written, he had a terrifying aura any time he popped up, you were scared of what was to come, they made you feel bad for him too, and then for him to come full circle to end his life, and realize he was the villain, absolutely amazing writing

Jet Man

The thing that impresses me the most about this story is how it ties into itself in such a masterful way. Those elements that you would call "Coming full circle." Its what generates those feelings of what some would call "beauty" or "art" or "poetic." Usually, a story will have one or two elements like that that. Orb is just a train that keeps chugging along. It continues to do it a multitude of times and compound upon some excellent ideas that challenge thought, all mixed in-between. It gives us this moment with the sunrise and the reflection on Draka's feelings with it. It gives us this moment with the Cinderella hand glove and Nowak's regrets for his sins. I cannot stress how fantastic moments like that are for a story like this, but I'm just preaching to the choir at this point.

Yeah, I really liked the sentiments voiced through Rafal. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets burned out over mortality and existentialism. Being able to visualize the timeline is great for perspective but also awful for basically everything else. Idk how anyone can face it and not stress out.

That scene man, it always brings me to tears, I am an atheist but as a father of two beautiful angels I won’t hesitate to go through hell and back for them, that is the reason that scene was so impactful for me, Nowak is absolutely the villain, you could even say one of the most vile characters, he is complex and conflicted but at the end of the line all he was is a father trying to do right with his daughter, is he misguided, most definitely.

The way heliocentrists influence each other’s view of life throughout the whole show is truly beautiful. Draka’s conclusion is one of my most favorite character’s conclusions ever.

Mushishi 100%

ODDTAXI is a thriller mystery where the main character is a middle aged taxi driver. It's not too long, only 13 episodes. I think you'd really dig it.

I'm sure there's lots of little details spread out in this anime but something I noticed on this watch is how this next arc starts by introducing a specific year and place (1468, Kingdom of Poland) whereas previous arcs would say "X years later". Also in the first episode the time and location given are "Early 15th century, Kingdom of P", much more vague than what we get here, Very curious if that's intentional or not and why.

I'd recommend Monster at some point. I think it's another anime you'd enjoy

I don’t think there is a concrete answer for the meaning behind it, but I’ve got a speculation about it. Though I will share it only when Tony ends the show

Lora

I think he'd really like Mushishi! He also mentioned in TAD that he'd like a horror anime. The only thing is that right now, the first season isn't available to stream legally. It's really frustrating. I was in the middle of it when CR pulled it from their catalog with no warning. They have yet to add it back.

Oddtaxi is really good, rly underrated!!
