No shot it’s the weekly KR reaction!! We’re blessed!!

If you thought Build had BL elements count the number of beds in the agency/apartment. :)

I do actually agree with you, for me W has never been in my like top 10, I could never understand why it was so popular, but after watching the entire thing, I could see why, I may not agree with it being one of the best, but I can see why people got hooked in by this story. Ps. The worst kamen rider show I've watched the entirety of is kabuto, genuinely regret watching that show, I hate it so much.

Akiko pulling a Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe here. "She's Fat!"

Sinha

I don't hate kabuto but it got confusing for me and low key just meh. It is probably at the bottom for me too

Sinha

For your reference for fat people....I think it's just asian in general not just japanese. In 80% of asian dramas or films every character who is a bit overweight they would view as someone who constantly eats....it is a bit much and outdated tbh

The reason W ranked high to me is mainly nostalgia probably. Watching it as a kid using the USB memory to henshin is the coolest thing ever when there is no smart phone around. I understand you feeling the acting is rough and rewatching it with you makes me feel the same too. I don't know if this will be a spoiler but the begins night part is in a movie, W x decade movie 2010, It's like the middle part of a three part movie so that part is only 30 mins long. Or you can check the animated movie ver too.

Unfortunately, other than some minor cameos, we ain’t gonna see Akiko’s dad face…cuz he’s the movie exclusive Kamen rider Skull. Right before episode 13 is the kamen rider W&Decade crossover movie where they show what happen during Begins Night. Akiko learns that her dad is dead in the movie. Also the only other way to learn what happen to her dad is the Fuuto PI movie, which is basically Begins Night reanimated with anime exclusive scenes.

It's not just nostalgia for me, the designs kick ass, I love the detective theme and the running gag of Shotaro trying to be a hard boiled noir style detective when he's anything but that, the villains have a great dynamic etc., it's an insanely fun show to watch. Yes, the acting is a bit rough but that's honestly just tokusatsu, they often feature inexperienced actors in their debut roles and the schedule is crazy, even more experienced actors can struggle in an environment like that.

Jenkin Pow

It's still my favorite show and it will always be. It is super fun, me and my friends will roleplay as Shotaro and Philip and do silly stuffs, and I'll always be Philip falling down after we Henshin XD. What I'm trying to say is just I understand Joe's pov regarding the acting because he got something to compare. I never had any problem with the acting part watching tokusatsu shows, maybe just because I didn't care much about it when i was small idk. And I said it in previous comments too, watching the actors grow throughout the series is also very enjoyable.

Every time you watch a cringey scene remember that this is really a show for 5 year olds, so wacky humor, weird faces etc. are all for their benefit and making things a bit less scary and distract from the darker themes. Things like guy butts are for the moms in the audience who often watch with their kids.

Joshua Weaver

I think a big reason why W feels so “cringe” especially in comparison to Build has a lot to do with the fact that the seasons are so far apart. W was ‘09-10, whereas Build was the 2017-2018 season

LexusHm

Agree. However, I do enjoy those KR Kabuto tiktok edits :))

Talerax De Avon

I think Kabuto was made purely for kids. I enjoyed it a lot back then, but my friend got into it recently and complained about it so much, all of them valid points too. So it really is just a silly series.
