Easily my favorite part of this is that after six days of certain people insisting that the Sutekh reveal makes perfect sense as a twist villain even if you've never seen the classic series (and making some extremely disingenuous comparisons to the reintroduction of the Master), it turns out RTD himself was worried enough about new viewers being confused that he threw this together. The other big highlight is seeing Ncuti talking about Sarah Jane, since I feel it's pretty certain that we would have gotten her back rather than Mel if Liz was still with us (she would have been 78 this year, still well in the range of being able to handle a role like this). That bit also has a pretty incredible emotional resonance to how Pyramids of Mars itself opens with a somber reminiscence about Victoria. Of course, it's pretty hard now to separate my thoughts on this from the actual finale, and those get...complicated.

I’m still beyond frustrated and chagrined that these still don’t seem to be available in the States. Particularly as it ties to the finale. I even double-checked Disney+ as soon as I saw you uploaded this. No dice. If you have something tying into the finale, how is not on the platform in which the show is broadcast? What I got from the reaction has some good moments for Ncuti and Millie as the Doctor and Ruby. Lovely to reminisce about the Doctor’s time with Sarah Jane, which gets you right in the heart. Millie had a good moment of selling Ruby listening and having, just a sweet expression listening to her friend reminisce about his old beloved companion. I would say one more thing, but the finale reaction is not yet uploaded, and though I’m fairly certain you’ve already seen it, I’m not taking the chance. Brings us to the topic of conversation at the end, I’m sorry, Jess, that people spammed the previous reactions with leading comments. Which, yeah, say you caught those before filming, you wouldn’t know, but you’d have a pretty good goddamn idea who the villain would be. If nothing else, you’d know the episode would tie into the previous story, and the surprise is ruined. Like you said, I get leaving those comments after you’ve dropped the reaction, thus there’s no doubt that you’ve seen it. That’s one thing. But doing it before the reaction’s upload, that’s something else, and I support your right to ban anybody who does it from now on. I can’t claim I’ll be peerless in that area myself, but I shall endeavor to do my best to be sans spoilery comments of the leading nature. And I do get the frustration. Before The Force Awakens came out, they had a talk show appearance days before the release. And when a specific topic got brought up, J. J. Abrams LUNGED for his coffee and went stiff as a board, not saying a word whilst the topic was discussed. Which didn’t actually SAY anything, but it shot up a red flag, lightning fast. Miraculously, the shock and surprise in the theater remained intact, but again, it strongly hints of something specific, and I relate and empathize with the frustration you expressed. Again, I’ll do my best to not indulge in the habit you detest, Jess, and thank you for the lovely little reaction. Praying to God that the BBC overlords go easy on you, copyright-wise. Godspeed, Jess.

RTD clearly took the lesson from when people reacted so badly to how Rose acted upon finding out about Sarah Jane, like she somehow was so full of herself to believe she was the only human the Doctor had ever gotten close to in his 900 years. Ruby’s only just learned that regeneration is a thing, and she’s still nothing but sincerely interested in what else is in the Doctor’s past.

These Tales are only for UK license payers, so they'll never be made available outside of the country, at least in streaming terms anyway.

I haven’t clicked on any of it, save for a small video of behind-the-scenes of Gabriel Woolf, which was sweet, but I’ve been seeing the official Doctor Who youtube channel has been uploading videos in relation to Pyramids of Mars. Scenes, quick summaries, what have you. All done for the reason you mentioned of cluing new viewers in on who Sutekh is and what the past history was. You KNOW that Sarah Jane would have been part of the sixtieth anniversary if Lis was still alive, the fiftieth too. Concerning the complicated feelings, after giving things a lot of thought over this weekend, mine are reasonably positive. Still waiting to see the reaction Jess has as that often helps sort out the muddier thoughts. That was such a big help during Chibnall’s run when his writing for Doctor Who in all of his seasons as showrunner left me unclear how I felt about most all of it. Here, it’s not at that level, yet there are the spots that I would like to know what Jess thinks to help sort out my own feelings. Of course, I’m reminded again how Moffat’s time in charge was my favorite period of the revival. A sentiment that will likely be permanent.

Yeah, that Rose scene always did leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. Nice to see it’s not repeated with Ruby. Replying to Mark, that’s unfortunate about the licensing thing. Could they be released on blu-ray as bonus features of the specials/seasons? I’ll take that.

I found the whole thing just free on Youtube a few hours before the finale, though it might have been taken down by now.
