You might have felt stupid, but your reaction was SO worth it 💙💙💙💙💙

Fantastic reaction! Glad you enjoyed it. I got into Dr Who around the time the five doctors first game out. Plenty of classic moments to savour in this one.

Did you recognize the high council seal. The 11th Doctor uses that prop with Handles Tom Baker decided to not do the special late in the process. They had planned on his appearance. He was scripted to appear alongside Sarah Jane, the Brig was going to be with the 3rd Doctor, and Jamie was going to be with 2. The script was adjusted, and Frazier Hines schedule on the soap Emmerdale made his availability in doubt.

Imagine how exciting this was back in late 1983 as part of that year's Children In Need. :)

It wasn't salty with Tom - he just felt too desperately close to the part having just left it a couple of years earlier. He gave permission for the Shada footage from the vaults to be used, after umming and aahing and at first agreeing in principle then getting cold feet about appearing himself. He got rapturous applause at the 20th anniversary convention at the start of April 1983, I was there in the big tent with him! And ambushed him on the way out for an autograph. He applauded the fans who were applauding him. Wonderful man.

Oh yes in the cinema tent at Longleat '83 "Twenty Years of a Time Lord" they showed The Dalek Invasion of Earth, first time it has been shown in the UK since 1964... Yes, the ankle thing must be a nod, the writer of this wrote the novelisation of The Dalek Invasion of Earth in the 1970s so it was fresh in his mind.

IMO the central joke of "the Master actually tries to help the Doctor for once but all the Doctors don't trust him and leave him to die" is one of the funniest gags the classic series came up with. Has a wonderful payoff in the second part, too.

Susan had a history. Terrance Dicks said that the longstanding traditional role of the companion was to be put in peril, get captured, scream and get rescued by the Doctor - or, presumably, any handy male who happened to be around and on their side - but, as he said in an interview, "We can't get away with that sort of thing anymore!" So, Susan turning her ankle is Terrance's little humourous "Can't get away with it anymore" fling as a nod to the past. Except, of course, they got away with it again and again quite a few times after this.

My dog would go mental at the theme tune. It was a signal for dinner and a walk and he would bark and do zoomies around the room and kitchen. Try catching a zoomying terrier!

I was waiting for this! I knew you'd be so happy! <3 <3 <3 <3

A nice little reference to a past stories, in this case The Deadly Assassin and The Keeper Of Traken, is when the Master comes across the skeletal remains of a Time Lord in the Death Zone and casually remarks that it is one of his predecessors.

Tom has said recently that he can't bare other actors playing the role. He loved doing it so much. He was friends with the other actors who played the doctor, so it's nothing personal against them. If you want to get as close to that as possible, get the audio book of SCRATCHMAN by Tom Baker he does an impression of the other doctors. In fact, when you finish classic who it would be wonderful if you could react to the audio book version of that story. Perhaps do it in chapters.

I think that Pat would have been so touched by this reaction.
