Boy, how lucky was it that Billy’s soul or whatever managed to find a dead body with his same age and name right outside the Hex as it went down? My motto is that every story gets one super silly contrivance for free, so that didn’t bug me much. What does is that it’s not clear at all just when and how much his memories came back, which I can’t help thinking a bit of the ten minutes spent on the dumbest part of Wandavision just giving us a recap of that show could have been spent on instead. Real smart plan meeting Jeffrey Dahmer in a deserted parking garage. The most I can figure is that hearing Down the Witches’ Road triggered it somehow (it’s the pelvic thrusts that really drive you insane), and that still doesn’t seem to take him all the way. It was also really weird that it took Billy so long to realize people weren’t saying the thoughts he was hearing out loud, and would have been even if this wasn’t a world where all kinds of superpowers are a regular thing. But there’s some really great stuff here too. Disney allowing Joe Locke to play another gay relationship that’s just as sweet, wholesome, and physically affectionate as Charlie and Nick was very unexpected and a real delight. Seeing Agatha’s Nordic Noir show from the outside was a ton of fun. And now that the secret is out, Joe and Kathryn get to just bounce off each other again, which is as fun as ever. I kind of wish William was still around, as fighting for control of his body could have been pretty interesting, but all signs are that if Billy hadn’t moved in he’d be pushing up the daisies (goddamn, are there a lot of ways to reference that routine). I guess with just three episodes left and probably not another hour long one in there, it’s best to focus on wrapping up what we have. The weakest episode so far, but that pretty much goes hand in hand with having to fill in all the backstory blanks, and now that it’s over I’m confident the show’s final act will be something great.

Oh, my, what a pretty new shade on your nails, Jess! Good to know, by the way, that when your hair is up, that it means that it is a day when you have much to do, and less time to do it in. It’s also nice to hear you express appreciation for the love and support you’ve received for your Agatha reactions. Now to this week’s episode. Pleasing to see that you enjoyed the episode, and how it had a different vibe. The time has come (The Walrus said) to talk of the mystery of young Tobias. Or should I call him William Maximoff? That cat’s now out of the bag. I had heard of the basic idea as the internet is full of insensitive ASSHOLES who can’t keep the trap shut, up to and including this entire last week, before the full picture is revealed. Still, there was the mystery of how it would play out. Quite something seeing William Kaplan. Loved Maria Dizzia and Paul Adelstein as his parents. The latter I expected you’d be happy to see given the Prison Break of it all. Again, I’ve never seen the show, even though they filmed at least some of it in my hometown, but I know Paul is in that. And he’s great in everything I’ve seen him in, such as recently, The Menu, so it’s good to see him and Maria. I clocked Lilia appearing sooner than you did. I was just happy to get Patti in the episode, however briefly. I’ve been hearing the jokes that with the sigil that it was Lilia All Along, love how you got that joke in yourself. I did the math quick as William’s sixteen present day. He has his Bar Mitzvah, which that happens at thirteen, the year before the Catholics have confirmation the year that they turn fourteen. Thus, as soon as they mentioned the hex, it all came together. I could see you connecting the dots as well. I assume his options were the Kaplan family, or the Crane family living in Hill House. That or deal with Natalie Dormer preying on his dad in the Penny Dreadful spin-off. Your reaction to William possessing William was great, complete with an appearance from Alice, loved seeing her again. I hear you on the heart breaking for William’s parents. Nice that he has a supportive boyfriend. Knew you were going to comment on the Disney posters. Quite liked the Disney posters myself, even outright said, “LOVE the Black Cauldron poster.” Now I LOVE that you gave a shout out to that fantastic deep cut. And the poster for The Watcher in the Woods is an especially nice touch. That’s an even deeper cut. I predicted the return of Randall before they dropped the big hint. Loved how you were sympathetic to him whilst wanting him to take it down a notch. He was creeping a bit. Cracked up when it’s revealed that he killed Sparky, loved your comment on that. I find that he should blame Wanda for losing his house. Agatha merely took up temporary residence. Wanda’s the one who made her stay. The conversation gives William the lead, leading to his research. Hilarious to find out that Agatha was THE Jolene, and quite the badge of honor to be able to say that Dolly Parton smacked the shit out of you. How joyous it is seeing you rock out to the ballad. It was indeed great to see William’s perspective of Agatha trapped in True Detective land. Great to see Sharon again. Took me a second to read the Bohner shirt, and when I did, devolved into giggles. That line of William not wanting to go back in the closet was too good, loved how you got a laugh there as well. We catch up to where last we left off, though now there is worry for Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan. Good question about time on the road; it could indeed be Narnia time there. Well, of course Agatha crawled her way out. Revenge does WONDERS for the will to live. Don’t you think? Tis impressive that Agatha did it whilst taking mud mask to a whole new level and serving Gill Man vibes as well. I grant you that one. Love how she reveals that she had her suspicions about William. She rather conveniently sidesteps mentioning that she probably knew for sure that it was William when he said the name of Nicholas Scratch, thus proving he is not old Scratch. Agatha’s definitely projecting some when telling William, “So you came across an empty meatbag and are now playing Pinocchio with it! BIG DEAL!!” and as you said, that hits home for her. And we divulge William’s goal: Tommy. It hits you in the heart learning of that, leading to a great moment of the reaction. Me, my heart is black as I’m very wary of what will come of this, even saying to William, “Your mother damn near destroyed the entire multiverse to get you and your brother back. One shudders to think what you, young William, will do in pursuit of the similar goal.” Certainly, I do not fault his refusal to trust Agatha any more than you can throw her. Again, as old Crowley once said, “Oh, good God, don’t. Never trust anyone.” So, we’re off to see if we can find Tommy. Makes me recall your Dune Part Two reaction how you said that you were very happy with the Jessica representation. I’m in the same boat here as I would be in favor of seeing Tommy again for the Tom representation. And if not: ah well. I have Miller’s Crossing and the Ripliad to fall back on for that. And Lord Voldemort as well. Shame that Lilia and Jen are on the bench with Sharon who is still tired and shagged out following a prolonged squawk. They never do say the two ladies are dead. Hopefully we see them again next week. Until then, a most delightful reaction, Jess, thank you so much.

I think that’s a line in George of the Jungle, “Every story gets to have a really big coincidence and here’s ours.” Ergo, yeah, not a big deal. I assume that we’ll get more into the memories as we progress further. Still have not seen the Dahmer show, and I’m not in the biggest rush to see it, unless Jess wanted to react to it, then for her, I will watch it. REALLY not looking forward to if I ever do see it, the one certain historical fun fact that I REALLY wish would have remained buried, but whatever. Down the Witches’ Road likely did trigger in his brain quite the warp. (It’s just a jump to the left.) Good point on the hearing voices thing. Not seen the show you mentioned, but yeah, the gay relationship here is quite sweet. It was very nice. The outside perspective of the flat circle that is the tvland purgatory was fun. Yeah, now we get our leads to really let loose, and it is going to be FUN. As to William Kaplan, well, now that we know the score, I can safely say that I know a dead William when I see one, and I’m looking at one right now. (We are getting so much mileage out of that sketch, aren’t we?) Don’t have a pick for weakest episode of this as all of the episodes have been great to me. Not arguing your feelings that this is the weakest episode, and like you said, we now have the last act to look forward to, which is sure to be spectacular.

In addition to Jolene, she apparently crashed the Hindenburg, which I’m definitely taking as a reference to Kathryn’s role in The Glass Onion. Black Cauldron, maybe I would have liked it on its own merits, but by the time I saw it I was already a huge fan of the books, so all I could see was where the movie fell short of them. Most of all, the part everyone loves to make fun of with the hero being such a whiny prat always insisting he’s a warrior, in the books is a deliberate starting point for his development into an actual heroic figure, which the movie can’t get to even as far as he went in book one.

Oh, and I have to point out one thing I realized after thinking back over the show: they pulled a Gallifrey Falls No More with Lilia’s time-displaced statements. “Alice, don’t.” “Try to save Agatha.”

I’ve read Alexander’s books, so I get it. Incidentally, I heard he quite liked the movie as its own thing. I saw Siskel and Ebert were divided on it, with Roger Ebert being more positive toward it, and I side more with him on that one. Everyone is right about Taran, and how he never gets to the level that he gets to in the books. John Hurt as the Horned King is BEYOND fucking amazing though. I’ll defend the movie just for that alone.

Yeah, that I had a similar thing to in WandaVision, Fietro’s line, “It’s not like your dead husband can die twice.” where it didn’t click until I saw someone else make note of it, and you go, “Oh, SHIT!” Shame about Alice, poor thing.
