That’s not acting from Peter Davison when he’s thrown in the water. It was bone-freezing, and he’d been assured repeatedly that it would be warmed first. Because everything about this story is dumb and wrong. You also really have to wonder what was going through that actress’ mind while she was doing a suicidal kick against a monster while hugging herself.

"These human beings will die as they have lived, in a sea of their own blood.", Ichtar, "Warriors of the Deep" I'll tell you how much I look forward to rewatching this story ... Your reactions get released at around 1am my time (no problem, it'd be 1am somewhere in the world whatever time you choose - it just happens to be 1am for me). For a story like "The Five Doctors", I am certainly up for watching it immediately and staying up through the early morning hours, deliciously devouring Classic Who content and then writing up some comments on the feed. For this story, on the other hand, I decided to get some sleep and watch it in the morning. "Can you be sure?", "No, Tegan. Perhaps you should ask it nicely to go away.", Tegan and the Doctor discussing the Myrka, "Warriors of the Deep" Solow's hand-waving and kick to the Myrke - that's "oh dear #2" of this story. Now, it isn't a bad plot point to have the foreign agent confronted by the monster there, but the execution of is, bluntly, not filmed well and there was time for only one feeble try and they couldn't redo it. "All right, Tegan, close your eyes. Make a wish!", The Doctor, "Warriors of the Deep" I do like the set-up of the "make a wish" line and then the call-back to it to get Tegan to close here eyes. "In an earlier regeneration you knew me as the Doctor.", The Doctor, "Warriors of the Deep" Ooh, an in-story reference to the original 3rd-Doctor stories! BTW: In the original TV story the main group were just credited as "Old Silurian", "Young Silurian" and "Silurian Scientist" - we didn't get names. "There should have been another way.", The Doctor, "Warriors of the Deep" The anti-Moffat "The Doctor Dances" line "Everybody lives!". As you pointed out, it could be a riveting tragic story but it wasn't well executed. And it's the same tragedy, really. It shows how good Mac Hulke's original story concept was.
