I just want to take a moment to remind you, Jess, that you are not a horrible person. Among other reasons that I know this for a fact, I’M a horrible person, and you’re never at the meetings. Yeah, a mandate of this season does seem to be to just kill off all the leads from season one. Fallou is still around and given our track record of opening our big mouths, now I’m deathly worried for him. The episode opened with plenty of fuckery. Good on Carol swatting those pesky walkerfying darts away at your encouragement. Teaming up with Codron was great. As you say, and I observed much the same, we never DO see a death occur with Codron, and far as I could tell, his body was not among the freshly dead. So, it is possible that we will see him again. And if not, he died well; not giving a shit if he lived or died, just wanting to take as many fuckers with him. No, I recalled your dread for Isabelle being in danger of the recurring trope in this universe. I was hoping she’d prove to be an exception, particularly so she and Daryl could have their love story to fill the void left by the cuteness couple. Losang, who is beyond being on our VERY LAST nerves stabbing her for no justifiable reason, had me livid. He’s already damned to hell, but killing Isabelle, an innocent woman, not to mention a nun, in cold blood, God’s not taking kindly to that one. It got the tears going again, seeing your shock at Isabelle being stabbed. Respect to Isabelle for calling Losang out on how he says he’s a servant of the Lord yet demonstrates such hollow faith. I concur with her assessment, noting, “He speaks of salvation, but what he really wants is simply sang pour sang so that he can keep his seat and great authority.” Though their time together is brief, you can tell that Isabelle and Carol would have gotten along famously. That big reunion between Daryl and Carol matches the expectations, as did your reaction. Bringing us to the VERY UNFORTUNATE business of Isabelle’s death. Everybody sold the scene perfectly. Clémence shattered my heart with Isabelle’s dying moments, especially that thing of the fireflies. She died, tears and cursing were strong, starting with. “What did I JUST FUCKING SAY LAST WEEK!?” As mentioned, since being introduced to Clémence in Harry Potter all those years ago, she has shown strong evolution as an actress. Her work here, I loved, and Isabelle became one of my favorites of the show. Heartbreaking to lose her, for Daryl as well, given his reaction. He’s like how he was after Beth, albeit more subdued. Makes sense, given how many deaths of those he loved that he’s seen, which now Isabelle joins that list. A man can only take so much of that death before his soul just slowly kills itself to survive. You can tell Carol knows it, and as she is his platonic soulmate, she commits to getting him to talk, in his own way and in his own time. You made the comment of how the walkers in the yards would not be your taste or preference in decor, and I quipped, “Hey, it’s Halloween season.” No sooner do I say that quip, you commented much the same, and I got a good belly laugh. Theo and Didi were lovely. They gain immediate respect for how they were old when the world went to shit soup and have survived as long as they have. Sweet how Carol opens up to Didi about Sophia. How that got you some. You have mentioned in the past how sometimes complete strangers can often be the perfect people to open up to about certain things. In this case, despite Carol’s usual reputation, she senses a kindred spirit in Didi. Love your reactions to the Judith business. Sucks that Theo turned traitor, though it was nice how the narrative does not condemn him too harshly. Now to Marion Genet. You know, of course, my passion for villains. Genet was a damn good one and joined Isabelle in tying for my favorite introduced in this show. Psychotic though Genet is, it strikes me how she seems somewhat aware of that, and that she’s broken. Rather well shown when she fires back to Losang about his bullshit. Of course, she is not without bullshit, and Didi calls her out on that with the historical allusion, which has a few layers to it. Then her last stand, loved Anne just pouring Genet’s trauma into her monologuing. Said monologuing giving Daryl and Carol the time to act, and Genet getting shot with the walkerfying dart, and in a spot that she cannot reach, hence she briefly resembles you trying to zip up a really difficult dress, as you described. And in the end, Genet got a death worthy of an Indiana Jones villain. Saddened though we both are to not have her rather beautifully wicked villainy in the show anymore, she got one hell of an exit. Lord, that was gruesome. I quite liked your words of appreciation for our wicked Marion. As mentioned, this is the first thing that I know of that I’ve seen Anne in. I would love to see more of her work. Sad to lose Didi, and your reaction to that death got me. And now Sabine has handed the keys to Genet’s kingdom to Losang, who is now convinced that God is at work. He is, but not the way Losang thinks. God’s working to keep Laurent safe. Evidence of that is Carol arriving at the nest at precisely the opportune moment. Not that Losang would read it that way as he now is of the “Seek out the Nazarene” mentality. You know, if Losang’s not careful, he’s going to replace Pontius Pilate in the hearts of his fellow men. He’ll be famous. His name will be spread all over the newest testament. Of course, no one’ll ever call their kid Losang again. Don’t believe me? Well, just think about it for a second. How many two-year-old Pontius Pilates do you meet? Bringing us to the part that got you on the personal level. Relating to Daryl’s struggle of not wanting to abandon the people he’s come to love, whilst not wanting to abandon his family back in the States. I know how you’ve moved around a lot. Contrast to me who has lived in the same place all my life thus far. So, whilst I cannot relate, I can empathize with Daryl’s plight, and I can feel how it got you in that scene. Likewise, I could see how it got you when Carol asks if Daryl is afraid of becoming her. That part did sting a bit, though nice that Daryl said what he said. Now we have two episodes left, and I’m sure they will be something. Certainly, they will be accompanied by your marvelous reactions as marvelous as this one was. This reaction was truly wonderful, Jess, thank you so much.
