As you say, an interesting and enlightening episode. Start by talking about Tomasso. It was gnawing at me for a week as to how the Croat was as prepared as he was, particularly with how neat and well-orchestrated the attack was. This led to the thought that someone had turned stoolie, and it is now revealed to be Tomasso. Like you said, it is hard to despise him for it, considering the desperation that he expressed. Sad to see him and Amaia killed. Perlie yes, he is going to be a wild card. I like how amused you were over his being unyielding. Me, I put myself in Negan’s place of being so fed-up with him. More specifically, I’d have offered the olive branch, saying, “Tell you what, asshole, you want to keep being hell bent on getting me off this island and back to your New Babylon hacienda then that’s your call. In my judgment, you still need to get off the island first, so how about we work together on that front. All right?” To Perlie’s credit, he does recognize the pragmatism of working together with Negan. I like how he also sees how Negan is not the monster he has been led to believe. Sure, Negan freely admits his actions are partly motivated by a better the devil you know type mentality, yet it ties into the overall theme of the show, and what you’ve said you appreciate with the show of, who at this point is really an innocent. Like Negan said in the first episode, no one’s a bad guy, or you know what maybe everyone is. Perlie’s speech about his big brother gets to you some. I am SO jealous of the villains’ lair being the abandoned theater. That is apocalypse goals. That is the place where I would go should the world turn into shit soup. Head downtown and set up the Rialto as my home base/fortress of solitude. A most agreeable strategy. Interesting to see the Croat answers to or is at least in cahoots with this mystery woman who has an energy similar to dear Angela Lansbury in The Manchurian Candidate. I kind of live for it, if I’m being honest. I got such a kick out of your continuous harping on the leaning on the dead bodies. The muti-headed walker was a jolt, leading me to marvel, “WHAT in the John Carpenter is THIS horrific thing!?” I loved your own reaction to it. Now to the reveal of Maggie’s true motives. I agree with you that the show initially provides a plausible reason for Maggie seeking Negan of all people for help. To now learn she’s always been planning to trade Negan for Hershel now makes more sense. Particularly how, like Negan said in the first episode, vengeful thoughts that he thought Maggie had put to bed, CLEARLY, she has woken the fuck up. Hard to fault Maggie for her plan, though Ginny certainly is. Yes, fingers crossed for a great finale. I agree with you of this show has been a delight. I have been most enjoying sharing it with you, Jess. Thank you for the great reaction.
