It's been a real treat these last few Tuesdays getting Rebels in the morning and Ahsoka at night, and without any spoilers, these two episodes in particular really resonate with what's going on in that show. Sabine's backstory had been a long time coming and the crew clearly knew they needed some huge painful secret so her reason for leaving her family wouldn't come off as a ridiculous anticlimax, and being partially responsible for Mandalore's destruction would certainly do it (though to be clear, this was a different event than the total glassing of the planet as seen in The Mandalorian, which happened much closer to the end of the war). They also pull off a very tricky balance in showing the rest of her family allied with the Empire without making them so unlikable that it's impossible to root for them to switch sides (I'm not sure how many people here are familiar with it, but this was tried with a certain character in RWBY and failed horribly, so a lot of fans just had no interest in her and wanted her to die so the show could move on).

It has been great. I am severely chagrined with the change in release time for Ahsoka, tonight especially as I’ve got something going on causing me to be out of the house when Ahsoka debuts, meaning I’ve got to rush home insanely quick to avoid the spoilers for tonight’s episode, which would not be a concern if the show was still airing at two o’clock in the morning where I live. But I suppose that’s solely my problem to contend with. And regardless, yes, lovely to have Rebels reactions and then later episodes of Ahsoka. You are right though that the writers took great care concerning Sabine’s backstory. You raise an excellent point about her family and the balance of having them allied with the Empire, yet they retain enough sympathy for you to root for them to switch sides. I’ve not seen RWBY. I have heard of it, just haven’t seen it, thus can’t speak to the similar attempt at such a balancing act, character-wise.

Other than one other, best two episodes of the season in my opinion. End of the first episode gives unprovoked tears every time. SO! I was watching these two episodes this time, rewatched it multiple times already, and Really looking at Fenn Rau's face for the first time. REALLY looking at it. And then suddenly I noticed how much he's reminded me of someone this whole time and I'm only just now fully registering it as a coherent thought. Tom Hardy. His face, and even slightly his accent would be perfect for a live action portrayal by Mr. Hardy. I even bet Tom would want to do it just for a role in a Star Wars project. I'm sure there are other less well known actors with a similar look that could do a good job but I'd be honestly surprised if Dave didn't base the character's face on him at conception. I don't know how I never considered it before.

Hardy had a cameo in Last Jedi as a former squadmate of Finn's, but it was cut.

Its put me out of joint as well due to my timezone. I used to get up and watch Mando or whatever in the late morning or early afternoon. I can't do that just now, so have had to lay off Youtube and Reddit until I get time later in the day to catch up with Ahsoka. Away to watch episode 5 in the next hour, excited but nervous too! Best way to be when watching something though I'm keen on! Edit : Seen it now. I was a wreck.

I don't see Tom Hardy in Rau. I do see his voice actor Kevin McKidd more, and I bet he'd be cheaper to cast than an a-lister like Tom! :D

Yeah, his nose just seems more bulbus like Tom's to me than Kevin's. Plus, like myself, Kevin has very light, hardly visible non-contrasting with skin tone eyebrows unlike Fenn does.
