I know it was a longer wait for this one as well, hoping to knock the last two out in quicker fashion.

Overanalyzing Netflix's Avatar: Episode Six - Masks

How do you come up with the patreon name descriptions. So hilarious 😂

There is a small, but very meaningful difference in how Aang discovers who the blue spirit is: In the original, the mask slips and the scar becomes visible. Aang basically already knows that it is Zuko at that point, but has to be sure, so he removes the mask. In the Netflix show, Zuko just gets knocked out, the mask stays solidly on his face. Aang only removes the mask because he is nosy and it is literally the first second when he has an opportunity to find out, despite still being in danger.

Its episodes like this that make me think that Atla was lightning in a bottle in its entirety, and that it will never again be recaptured. At least if they keep retreading ground like this. If the Adult Gaang movies are bad then my suspicions will be confirmed and I will divorce myself from this franchise.

something that really upset me is there being a 6th fire sage. there was 5 in the original show, it makes no sense for them to change that

Through all my secondhand embarrassment at the terrible dialogue in this show, I was GRINNING whenever Zhao was onscreen lmao.

3:40 yet another moment of bending without any semblence of martial arts / physicality + open fire claw for good measure :/

You have no idea how many times I replayed the "I KNOW! IM WATCHING THE SHOW!" Part. So funny and so absolutely true. I don't really have time to watch the full show, so my interaction with the show has been through these videos, but man is this thing rough. It seems like they couldn't get a single aspect of this show right more than once, and just kept finding new ways to stomp all over the original.

I in particular really disliked the scene where Zuko takes Aang hostage. It's bizarre Zhao would tell his men who aren't attacking to not attack, and Zuko moves so awkwardly that neither Aang nor Zhao take it at all seriously at first. I fully thought that Zhao would call the bluff and order the arrest anyway because he looked so unimpressed by what was a pretty pathetic display.

The only reason I watch korra or Netflix avatar is for the sole purpose of watching your videos about them

It's really funny how there are so many times in the show if they just left out some lines it would be far stronger. I made this point in episode one- Instead of Aang staring at the camera and talking for 2 minutes about how he was feeling, he could have just looked very scared, fingers fidgeting, and whispered to himself, 'I can't do this.' He then goes to Appa and says, 'Come on Appa. I need to clear my head.' That's it. It would have saved time to spend on Katara and Sokka, and made the story feel stronger. It's crazy how when you add more you're actually taking away. You only make your characters speak if it is absolutely necessary to the plot. The 'But we're the 41st.' Is not necessary. His eyes widening would have been much more effective. Zuko's walk of Honor is the best scene in season one, and there's no dialogue lol

I think what’s funny about this is that the original creators wrote this episode 😭😭😭😭
