Chapter #23: No man’s land.

The man who shoot Harry Potter ran as fast as he could, he needed to get the fuck out of here, he was also being chased by some policemen, however, when he reached an alley that ended in a wall, he did something that no one expected, he teleported from this place, so, when the officers arrived to the Alley they were surprised to find it empty.

They tried to search around, inside the trash cans, but in the end, they could not find the person who shot the young man in the street. Meanwhile, the man who had disappeared suddenly appeared outside a house that was located close to a beach; there were grey clouds in the sky, and the wind was a bit intense, probably a thunderstorm was on its way.

However, something interesting happened to the man; his features suddenly started to change, his body started to experience a crazy transformation, and he changed from a young man to an older, greasy-haired wizard with a cold expression, soon, he entered the house, and there he found an old wizard.

“Severus…” The old wizard said with a calm expression.

“It’s done, Albus…The Potter boy is gone just like you’ve wanted,” Snape told him with a serious tone.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Severus, Harry’s more than fine; the magical vow prevented me from doing anything to Harry, it's still active, so, it clearly means he's more than okay,” Dumbledore said with fake ignorance.

“He won’t be alive for too long; it was a fatal wound…Don’t bullshit me, Albus…You made me shoot him, you were always saying that you couldn’t do anything to him because of the vow, and unless he died, you manipulated me to kill him!” Snape wasn’t happy, which was weird considering how much he hated Harry Potter.

“I don’t know what you’re implying, Severus…I would never harm Harry, if that were the case, I would have been dead a long time ago because of the vow,” Albus remained calm despite the accusations.

“So…You constantly telling me about how the vow was a problem, and you reminding me of the fact that I stole the Potter family money wasn’t a hidden message for me to kill him?!” Severus was angry.

Albus couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Relax, Severus, I don’t know why you’re so angry, sadly, Harry messed up with the wrong people, I didn’t want to voice this, but…The people behind me, the real power, they had no use for him any longer…It was an interesting coincidence that I found out about what you did to the Potters once my bosses decided they didn't want him anymore…” Dumbledore looked at the man with a smirk.

Snape didn’t know what to say because there was no point in him denying the truth. He killed both James and Lily, at first, he wanted to protect Lily, but in the end, he decided to protect James and Harry for a while, he just pretended to like them, he had everything planned, so only the boy and James were killed.

However, at some point, Severus realized something: Lily was never going to love him, there was a possibility that if James died and she became a single mother, he could’ve stepped in, and maybe there could have been a chance for them, but Severus didn’t want that.

He only wanted Lily; the boy wasn’t on his priority list, and even if he spared him back then, he knew that at some point, he was going to kill him, and Lily would never recover from that, and if she did, she was going to find at some point that he did it, there was no doubt about it, she was just so amazing.

So, Snape finally realized that there was no hope for them, or at least not in the way he wanted, so, the love turned into resentment and jealousy, so in spite, he tricked the Potters, the plan was simple, he told them he had a contact that could get them new magical identities including magical traces, so, the dark lord would never found them.

However, that required lots of money, so, he told them to get all their money out of Gringotts, but it seems like in the end they forgot about Harry’s school fund, however, the money in that account were pennies compared to what they actually had in the main account, in the end, the Potters got their five billion galleons ou t of Gringotts and saved it in a bottomless pouch.

Once he knew how to get the money, he sold them and told the dark lord the location where they were hiding, and the rest is history, surprisingly, it was the boy who saved himself, he released a lot of magic and killed his parents’ killers, Sirius Black found him and managed to take him to the hospital before he was killed by Severus himself, he couldn’t lie, that death felt satisfying, sadly he couldn't kill Remus but at least those deaths haunted him until he drank to his death.

Severus thought he was too brilliant because for almost twenty years no one knew about his secret, but somehow, just recently, out of nowhere, Dumbledore told him he knew his secret but instead of telling Potter so he could face justice, he told him that there was no point in telling Harry, after all, Dumbledore believed the young wizard was going to meet his end soon if he continued angering those who wanted to keep the old traditions.

It seems like there’s a secret government; they’re the ones who approve every political movement in the country, and, they’re keeping the secrets about magic for themselves, only the chief warlock knows them personally, but once their term ends, their memory gets erased, so, they could be anyone.

“Relax, Severus…We’ll be fine, you did a good job, our world will be safe, and you will keep the money, everybody wins,” Dumbledore told him with a calm expression.

“I’m surprised by how cold you’re acting…He was supposed to be your protege, wasn’t he?” Snape couldn’t help but sigh.

“No, that was Neville, he was the proper pureblood tool, he was easy to handle and shape, the Potter boy…While I admire his strength and I had high hopes for him, he’s just too much of a loose cannon…The higher-ups weren’t happy with someone like him becoming more and more popular, and so, because of the respect I had for Lily and James, I pleaded with them not to get rid of him too quickly, trust me, I didn’t want him gone, but…Time ran out,” Dumbledore couldn’t help but sigh.

Snape didn’t know what to do or say, he was confused about what to feel, in one hand he finally got rid of the last remains of the Potter family, the one he swore to destroy during his younger days but on the other hand, he hated being manipulated and considering how clueless Dumbledore was pretending to act, it’s clear that in the end, the aged wizard manipulated him.

“Go, Severus…Get a younger wife and move on, enjoy your money knowing that you did well for our world,” Dumbledore was tired of answering questions; he needed time to think.

Meanwhile, in a beautiful garden filled with flowers and a clear blue sky with a big shining sun, Harry couldn’t help but feel at peace, but before he could smell the lilies, he heard a voice.

“Don’t give up yet…Harry,” the young man looked back.

That was the sweetest voice he had ever heard, and the moment he saw who that voice belonged to, he couldn’t help but fall on his knees, it was a woman, and he had seen her in a lot of photos.

“…Mother?!” He asked with a shocked expression.

The woman just smiled at him; they had many things to talk about.
