Chapter #27: A postponed meeting.

A day, that’s how long it took for him to be moved out of the hospital, and not because he was in danger or something, in fact, now that he survived, he couldn’t imagine Snape trying to kill him again, after all, it would be too suspicious to try to kill him again, he hated Dumbledore but he knew he wasn't too dumb.

No, he was moved from the hospital because he recovered way too fast. He got shot, but he was already okay, so the doctors started to suspect that something fishy was going on with him. That's why in the end they got obliviated, and Harry soon was out of the hospital; however, he had a meeting with the prime minister.

“Good evening, Mr. Potter,” the older man extended his hand, and Harry accepted the handshake.

They were in a room guarded by wizards from the secret service; both trained in the use of guns and wands. All this was needed so their meeting wouldn’t be interrupted. Penelope was with them too, and she was sending smiles towards Harry from time to time.

“Good evening, minister, I’m sorry for delaying our meeting but…” Harry said with an embarrassed tone.

“Don’t worry about it, Harry…Can I call you Harry, right?” He asked, and Harry nodded. “Being shot certainly grants you the privilege to delay a meeting with the prime minister,” the older man laughed, and Harry did the same thing.

“I don’t know if Penny told you about our plans…” The prime minister didn’t waste time.

“Oh yeah, she more than made your intentions clear, she told me you were interested in my dream of muggles and wizards working together,” Harry tried to make it look casual.

But it was hard to keep yourself composed when you’re dealing with someone so important.

“Yes…That’s something many governments have tried to make into a reality, but wizards are too stubborn, and we can’t even count on the muggleborns…That's how you guys call them, right?” The minister asked him, and Harry nodded.

Yes, it was weird how none of the muggleborns wanted to change the wizarding world; either they were too weak, too scared, or maybe just didn’t want to get their hands dirty, but it was very suspicious not to hear about any muggleborn trying to influence the magical world with what they know from the muggle world.

“Yes…They live normal lives as British citizens, and once they get their letter to Hogwarts…It seems like they don’t want to deal with us anymore, I mean, we’re not a perfect society, but I couldn’t possibly imagine myself without watching a TV show or not having internet, that's outrageous these days, I don’t think magic can replace something like that,” the minister pointed out, and Harry nodded.

“Yeah, I get what you’re saying, minister…To be fair, we magical people spend seven years in that world and during those days we barely spend two months in the muggle world, in my case it was even less because I never went back to my relatives during the winter break, I must admit that at first you’re awed at all the magic you see and what you can do with it,” Harry took a pause.

He shared a look with Penny, who smiled at him.

“But for seven years you study with the most bigoted people you will meet in your life, but that’s not the worst thing, it’s the fact that everyone allows it, no one stops those bigoted people, so, I guess many muggleborns prefer to live in the muggle world rather than change the magical world,” Harry said with a disappointed tone.

“Do you think you guys are getting indoctrinated?” Asked the older man with a concerned expression.

“Now that I think about it…It’s possible, however, magic is enough to convince people to forget where they come from,” Harry added with a disappointed expression.

“From what I’ve been told, the wizards are scared of us, but at the same time, they think we’re not worth their time; they think we’re so backwards while they still live in the Victorian era,” the minister sighed.

“Well, it has been proven that a wizard can be harmed with a gun, right? I guess they’re going to use what happened to me to make the people fear Muggles even more. The newspapers are very powerful, they are nothing but a propaganda machine from the Ministry of Magic, it’s something I’ve tried to regulate this year, but it’s not that easy…” Harry sighed.

“They also told me they don't want us to depend on their magic but I think it’s quite unfair to not use that power to help humanity, the world hunger wouldn’t be a problem, we could bring internet and electricity to remote areas in the world, after all, your magic doesn’t obey the laws of thermodynamics, you can generate more energy than you consume!” The minister couldn’t help but point it out.

At first, he was awed at the existence of magic, but while some of his colleagues were a bit jealous of the magic users, most moved on with their lives, and with time, magic started losing its uniqueness; still, the idea of using it as a tool was tempting.

“Trust me, minister, that’s a train of thought that has been on my head for years; it’s so frustrating to have these powers and not use them to help the Muggle world, the place that also happens to be my home,” Harry sighed.

“Do you think there’s a way we could finally become one? Magicals and muggles? I’m sure some religious groups are going to be outraged, but they’re harmless compared to your magic…The rest of the people in the world, I’m sure, will be shocked at first, but they will move on fast, trust me…Also, wizards and witches are going to become the most eligible bachelors in the world,” the minister said with a chuckle.

Harry did the same thing.

“I’ve heard that women love tall men, while men want traditional women. Once the existence of magic is revealed, it's going to change the dating game…I’ve tried my best to expand the existence of wizards, I’ve sold my seed to a sperm bank, so those women or couples who use that service and choose my seed are going to have a magic son or daughter,” Harry chuckled.

“What are you going to do now, Harry?” The minister was interested to hear his plans.

“I got a lot on my hands, minister. First, I need to finish my fifth year at Hogwarts. If I don’t do that, my wand is going to get snapped, also…I need to find the culprit behind the attack, and I must continue with my mission to spread the abolition of the statute of secrecy,” Harry explained, and the minister nodded.

“Why don’t you come to visit the secret service facilities? Someone like you would be a great addition to the team, don’t you think, Penny?” The older man asked the blonde witch.

“Sure, he will minister…We love people like him,” she winked at the younger man.

Harry might not be the sharpest tool in the box, but he was able to tell when someone was flirting with him, and it seems like the minister also knew that, because he suddenly coughed to break the silence.

“I would love to do that, minister, I would love to see the aliens,” the emerald-eyed wizard caused the other two to chuckle.

But in the end, they arranged a meeting for him to see their installations.
