Chapter #30: Moon day.
Harry had trouble sleeping, no matter how much he moved around the bed, sleep never came, and it was almost dawn. Realizing he wasn’t going to sleep anyway, he decided to get up. Luckily, it was Saturday; this week has been quite interesting for the dark-haired wizard.
He found himself a new friend, someone who at first was cold but was now starting to warm up to him and his friends; they were slowly getting her into their group. The name of the woman is Daphne Greengrass, a woman from his year. Soon, he got off the bed and grabbed his invisibility cloak.
He walked on the hallways carefully to not get caught by Filch, the man, despite being so old and crazy, had some kind of sixth sense when it came to those who were out of their common rooms at forbidden hours. He didn’t want to be sent to the headmaster’s office, so he had to tread carefully.
However, after many obstacles and after almost being caught by Filch’s cat, Harry was finally outside. The forbidden forest was in front of him, dawn was getting closer, and yet, Harry couldn’t help but feel like something strange was about to happen, not that he wanted to get inside the forbidden forest, though.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear the footsteps coming out of the forest. It was too late when he heard the footsteps. In his mind, it was either Hagrid or another professor who was going to come out of the forest, and if he got seen, he was going to get taken to Dumbledore's office, or at least that’s what he thought, but then, his eyes opened wide at the sight.
Coming out of the forest, there was a young blonde woman who was wearing a white nightgown; the paleness and her expression made her look like she was dead, but she was clearly alive as she moved out of the forest with precision and focus.
Harry was worried something could happen to her. The last thing he wanted was for this stranger to get hurt; maybe she forgot about the dangers of the forest, and that’s why she was acting like that, or at least that's what he wanted to believe, because going alone to the forbidden forest was a crazy idea.
“Uh? Hello?” He asked the blonde, who now moved past him; she didn't care about his presence.
It surprised him to see how perfectly she moved. He looked at her bare feet, and he was surprised to find them in perfect shape, no damage from the rocks or the terrain. In the end, he decided to follow her so she couldn’t get hurt. Now that he looked closely at the woman, he realized who she was.
“You’re Luna Lovegood, right?” He asked, and that made her stop.
She looked at him for a few moments and then continued moving.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he whispered to himself.
He looked at his surroundings. He was worried about the possibility of them being caught by Filch; if that were to happen, things would get ugly for the two of them. Maybe she was just sleepwalking; that would be a good excuse for her behavior, but he had no excuse; if they were caught, he was sure the headmaster wouldn't have mercy on him, after all, the attempt on his life was ordered by him.
Harry followed Luna until she reached the lake. He couldn't believe she took him here. He thought she was going back inside; however, when they arrived, she finally collapsed. He was worried, so he ran to help her, but then he sighed when he realized that she was sleeping.
“Well, it seems like someone had an interesting night,” Harry said with a weak smile. “I'd better take you back inside,” he realized that it was already late, the sun was up, so maybe he wouldn’t get in trouble if he told Filch or the professors that he was working out.
Luckily he prepared that excuse because he was found by Filch and Snape, he was filled with rage, there was nothing else he wanted to do than kill that bastard Snape, one day he was going to make him pay, however, for now, he had to swallow his pride, Luna had been out of the castle the whole night, she was a top priority.
“Potter…What are you doing with a girl outside your bed?” Asked Snape with a smirk.
This was perfect for him; finding Potter wandering outside in the middle of the night was surely going to help him get rid of him. Snape would surely love to get him expelled so his wand could get snapped.
“I was sprinting on the shore when I found this woman out there, sleeping in the cold. I got worried, so if you want to punish me for trying to help someone while I was working out, then go ahead, or you could let me pass so I could take her to the infirmary,” Harry wasn’t playing around anymore.
It’s clear that Snape wasn’t happy with the way Harry spoke to him. Still, Harry didn’t care; he was already tired of treating him as if he deserved his respect. Snape was nothing but a cockroach, a rat that needed to be put down for his crimes and treachery. His judgment day will eventually come, and he’s going to enjoy every minute of it.
“I’ll accompany—” Snape tried to have him for himself.
“No, it’s alright, professor, I’m sure you have better things to do, like catching the real students who are out of their beds for no good reason!” Harry said with a slight smirk.
Snape didn’t have time to add one of his sarcastic comments as Harry was gone as quickly as possible.
“Arsehole,” Harry muttered under his breath as he took the young woman to the infirmary.
There he found Madam Pomfrey taking a sip of coffee.
“Good morning, madam, I brought you someone I found out in the cold,” Harry said in a hurried tone.
The older witch didn’t have too much time to process what was going on; she just ordered the young man to place Luna on a bed; she did a quick inspection and nodded.
“Oh, it’s just Luna…She’ll be fine,” the older witch placed a spell on the blonde.
Harry was about to ask for more information; however, he soon heard a groan from the blonde.
“Where am I? The last thing I remember is a light and then…I woke up here…Did my housemates cause this?” She asked with a sad tone.
It’s clear that the blonde was being bullied, but for now, Harry decided to ask for explanations later.
“Oh, it’s you, Harry Potter, the new poster boy of the secret government,” she said in a surprising tone.
Harry was about to roll his eyes; however, the fact that she knew of the secret government was something that took him aback.
“I'd better leave you two to talk…” The older witch said mischievously.
Harry didn’t want the mediwitch to misunderstand the situation; however, he had other priorities right now.
“Do you know about the secret government?” Harry asked with a surprised tone.
“Well, now I know it exists if you’re asking about it, but the person who knows the most about them is my father…He has an independent newspaper where he publishes his findings about what they don’t want us to know…I’m Luna, by the way,” she smiled at him.
That was the prettiest and creepiest smile Harry had seen on a woman, and yet, he felt mesmerized.
