Chapter #16: Suspect.
Harry entered Bellatrix’s room. His wife was still sleeping; she was alive and conscious, but she had lost so much magic and entered a state of stasis to protect their child. Even in the direst circumstances, she was doing something for another person, and he couldn’t be prouder.
It’s been a week since the incident, and there was no day on which Harry didn’t feel guilty; however, there was one positive thing that at least came from this situation: he started to work harder to solve the case, and the work paid off; they finally had a suspect.
“Bella, these past few days have been so weird without you. Just like you would have done if you were in our situation, we started to work as soon as possible. We finally have a suspect, I promise you there’s going to be justice,” Harry said with a weak smile.
He was trying very hard not to cry; he needed to be twice as strong. She was going to wake up, he knew that, and he was going to be the happiest man in the world once that happened.
“I have to go, Bella, we’re about to catch the bastard,” he told her before he planted a kiss on her temple and left the room.
Once he was outside, he greeted the guards that were placed by the Potter and Black families. They didn’t trust the ministry after that security breach; these guards had to swear loyalty to their families, so Bellatrix was in good hands in case the attacker decided to come and finish the job.
“These are really good, Hermione,” Ron said as he enjoyed a muffin.
Hermione just rolled her eyes.
“I don’t know what it is… Maybe the pain and suffering of the people adds a unique flavor,” Ron laughed.
Hermione could only sigh, and then she saw Harry and weakly smiled at her best friend.
“Hey, Harry,” Hermione told him with a small smile.
“Hey Mione,” Harry said as they shared a well-needed hug.
“Mate, are you okay?” Harry was greeted by Ron, who was eating as if this were his last day on earth.
“Don’t get full too quickly, Ron, we have a special mission to take care of, we don't want you to throw up because you ate too much,” Harry told his best friend.
“It’s alright, with Tonks in charge, I can relax a little,” Ron declared, and Harry couldn’t help but sigh.
“He’s hopeless, Harry, don’t try to change him, trust me, it won’t turn well for you,” Hermione could only sigh.
“That I agree with you, Mione,” Harry told his best female friend.
Then he took a look at his watch and looked at Ron.
“Come on, Ron, it’s time,” Harry grabbed his best friend by the shoulder, but not before taking the muffins and giving them to Hermione.
“Hey, that was mine, it’s been almost an hour since I ate something!” The redhead complained.
“You’ll take care of that later; it’s time to chase the bastard,” Harry told the redhead in a low tone.
Ron knew very well what their plan was, and yet, he still couldn’t help but gulp. This was going to be a difficult mission, but he wasn’t scared, or at least he tried to convince himself that he wasn't.
“Right, let’s go then,” Ron finally got into Auror mode.
“Good luck, you two, please be safe,” Hermione was trying to keep her composure, but she knew how dangerous this mission was.
“Don’t worry, love, we’re going to be together, the whole Auror department will work to catch the bastard,” Nymphadora suddenly appeared.
She then gave Hermione a quick kiss, and both Ron and Harry tried to look away.
“Be careful, you three, but especially you, Tonks; sometimes you’re very reckless,” Hermione couldn’t help but sigh.
“Don’t worry, Mione, we’re going to get the bastard,” Ron declared with pure confidence.
Both Harry Tonks smiled at the redhead’s attitude, and soon, they left the hospital. Tonks was very reluctant to leave because she wanted to spend time with her girlfriend, but in the end, they parted ways; they had something to take care of. Meanwhile, on Diagon Alley, a man with long blonde hair was moving towards his destiny.
Everything was going to be perfect. His destiny was the center of Diagon Alley, and he was going to cause an explosion just like the one he caused in the Auror department. It seems like Bellatrix Black has died, which is good because he hated the witch; she has been nothing but hateful towards him since the day they met.
Today, something amazing was going to happen; this event is going to change the magical world forever, the serial killings of many important werewolves are going to bring war to the magical world, and people like him make lots of money during wars.
Yes, he indeed has a lot of money, but he always wants more than what he has. The billions of galleons that he has are meaningless; he wants more, and war is the best business in the world; everybody wins, or well, everybody whom he cares about at least will benefit from the upcoming war.
The man finally reached his destination, and so, he took his wand out and got ready to say the incantation to create a huge explosion; however, someone bumped against him and interrupted his train of thought.
“What?” The man said with a surprised expression.
He had been interrupted. How dare this person interrupt him? He was the best and strongest wizard alive. Well, it doesn’t matter; he’s going to make this person and everyone pay.
“Oh, sorry,” said a young witch, who looked like a Hogwarts graduate.
“Be careful out there, young lady; there are many dangerous people out there that could take what you did as an insult,” the man said with a vicious smirk.
But then the blonde saw something, the girl, something was interesting about her nails, it was like she was turning into a werewolf, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing, a female werewolf, he couldn’t help but imagine the outrage, until this day, he has only killed older male werewolves. Maybe it’s time to finally escalate things and make himself look like the threat he truly is.
“I’m so sorry, Sir, I didn’t mean to offend you… Is there something I can do to amend this?” Asked the werewolf woman.
This was so easy, it was like a mouse falling for the cheese. For him, this ritual has become nothing but a routine. All of this started as a vengeance against all werewolves, but then he started to do it for fun, and then, when he realized the potential, this had for a war, he couldn’t stop himself.
This was going to be the turning point. The death of a female werewolf is going to cause quite a stir in the magical world.
“Yes… Come with me,” the older wizard ordered.
She did as she was told, and then they stopped when they reached an abandoned alley.
“I’m sorry for this,” the man said with a fake sad expression.
“Me too… Lucius Malfoy,” the girl said as she took a wand out that Lucius recognized.
“What the—You are-” But he didn’t have time to speak.
The werewolf girl suddenly jumped on him, and he was ready to die. What an irony for Lucius Malfoy to be killed by a creature that he hated.
