Chapter #10: The heist.
Wales, a beautiful place indeed, full of beautiful mountains and beautiful people in different circumstances; Harry would’ve loved to visit this place and explore it; however, right now, he wasn’t hiding behind some bushes alongside Hermione because he wanted to.
“Hermione… Are you sure this is going to work?” He asked, concerned.
The brown-haired witch remained silent, but in the end she nodded.
“I’m a hundred percent sure this is going to work. No matter how good Muggle technology is, when it comes to magic, I know we can get away with some things,” she tried to calm him.
Harry couldn’t help but feel a bit unsure about her words; however, in the end, he nodded. If there was one thing, it was that he trusted Hermione with his life.
“If anything happens, I’ll be here to make noise to distract them,” she added with a calm tone. “Remember, we came here to steal the samples that they’re analyzing in the laboratory alongside the reports. Stealing a whole ship is going to be very difficult considering magic doesn’t harm them; then it can be assumed that magic does not affect those ships,” Hermione told him, and what she said made a lot of sense.
There was a tense silence, but then Hermione decided to capture his lips, and Harry quickly kissed her back. The kiss was slow but needy, and then Hermione decided to caress his crotch as the kiss became more heated.
“You need to come back in one piece… I swear I’m going to make you feel good if you do,” she said before winking.
Harry thought that was cruel. She was already promising things, so he could make sure to do everything to come back. Now he had no other option but to do so, but he had zero complaints about it. In the end, he nodded and soon got ready for what was coming. Harry took out his invisibility cloak and got ready.
“Wait…” Hermione said before he covered himself with the cloak. She had decided to place a shield charm over his body, and Harry was glad that she decided to do so; that was a very good idea.
You can’t be too careful when you deal with the government.
“Well, I better get going, or else we’re never coming back in time,” he said with a weak smile.
She nodded at him, and soon, he got ready to leave.
“Remember to always have our communication mirrors and also, don’t forget to place a silencing charm inside the cloak,” she told him with a serious tone.
Harry nodded and soon placed the cloak over his body and then silenced the thing. He was going to be warned by Hermione in case something happened. Harry walked down from where he had been hiding, and there he found a dirt road; it was clear that there was a constant flow of trucks and cars because of the wheel marks.
Soon, a military truck came out of the installations, and Harry had to move as fast as he could to enter the base, and even though he was now inside, he was anything but happy because the danger was just starting; the place was filled with towers with lights where officers were carrying very dangerous assault rifles.
“Harry… Are you inside?” Asked Hermione in a low tone.
“Yes… I’m here, but even though I’m invisible, I feel like I could be spotted. What if they have technology that's able to see invisible things?” He asked, worried. “Aliens supposedly have that ability; it would make sense for the officers to be wary of such abilities,” Harry told Hermione through the mirror.
“Well, let’s not worry about that for now. I have a philosophy: if a technology hasn't been used in war, it means it doesn't exist; you’re protected by the shield charm. Most importantly, you need to hurry to get the stuff out as soon as possible,” Hermione told him with a serious tone.
Harry couldn’t help but gulp, but in the end, he nodded. He moved, and it was hard to pass between the guards who were on the floor level. He was moving around until he heard Hermione’s voice.
“Harry… You need to reach Hangar Seven; there you have to deactivate the alarm systems just in case. You can’t be too careful in such a situation,” she said in a low tone.
“Yes,” Harry could only say, and soon he was on his way.
Even though he was invisible, it was still scary to see so many trained men with their dangerous weapons. Magic can protect you from most attacks, but the moment between thinking and saying a protective charm is enough for a bullet to pierce through your body.
He had to mentalize himself that he was fine; he just needed to be careful so he wouldn't bump into anyone. After almost ten minutes, he finally made it; he reached the room and deactivated the security.
“It’s done, Hermione,” Harry said, and she sighed in relief.
“Thank Merlin… Listen, now that the system is off, you can use the doors without worrying about the alarms,” she told him, and Harry nodded.
“Thank you for all the work, Hermione. I'd better get moving,” he declared.
It was true; Hermione had been spying on the base for a week. They used the mirrors and disguised them to make it look like rocks, so no one would suspect they were magical devices. These soldiers were probably used to magic; that’s why they had all this information.
“Okay, listen, Harry… Now you have to reach the underground; there’s a door in the middle of the base, and it will be easy to spot,” she told him with a serious tone.
Harry sighed as the mission wasn’t done yet; however, he was closer and closer, so he suddenly started to move, and little by little he reached the door. Then he entered and slowly descended.
“I’m here, Hermione,” Harry told her with a serious tone.
“Okay, this is going to be confusing on your own, so please follow this pattern,” she told him with a worried tone.
Harry nodded.
“Okay, from your point, go to the door in front of you…” He did as he was told.
Then she told him to go right, right, left, up, up, down, right, down, and then he finally reached a room where there were many folders but, most of all, things contained in protective glass.
“Fuck… They’re all protected, Hermione,” Harry said, worried.
“Well, then break the glass and steal them,” she said without hesitation.
“What?” He asked, confused.
“Yeah, just do that,” she said without any care in the world. “Unless you have a better plan, don’t worry; as long as you’re quick, you’re going to be fine,” she added, and Harry could only gulp.
He knew this was crazy, but there was no other option, so in the end he nodded, and then it finally happened: he destroyed the glasses and put them under a bottomless bag, but of course, things wouldn’t be too easy because as soon as he did that, the alarms started to sound all over the base, and soon, the protection protocol started, causing all the exits to be blocked.
“Fuck,” Harry couldn’t help but feel worried.
“Harry, calm down. It’s okay, just do what you recently learned,” she told him in a serious tone.
“What I recently learned?” He asked, a bit confused.
He tried to remember, but then he heard bullets landing close to him, and so he decided to move. He needed to get out of here, and there was only one way to do that. He wasn’t happy about it, but what other choice did he have?
