Chapter #11: A strange material.
Harry was in danger; the alarms were on. He needed to escape; it seemed like they managed to deactivate everything from the outside world, but underground, the situation took a very difficult turn. Still, even if the armed people were shooting at Harry’s position, he never lost his composure, so he closed his eyes and got ready for his next move.
“Fuck it,” Harry declared, and soon he was starting to disappear from this place.
His face was in pain; it was obvious that he was apparating while everyone was shooting. He was under his invisibility cloak, or else he would be fucked, and not in a good way, and after feeling disgusted because of the apparition, he finally arrived back with Hermione.
“Ah… Shit, that’s horrible,” Harry has always complained about how shit apparitions were as a travel method.
“We need to leave as soon as possible; it seems like our actions turned the base into something similar to a wasp nest that’s under attack. Both soldiers and wasps are vicious when they sense a threat, so let’s get out of here!” Hermione declared, and now it was time to teleport again, and it was time for Harry to feel nauseous once again.
Luckily, this was the last apparition as they arrived at the Weasley family home, and soon they were received by the whole family.
“Did you guys find it?” Asked Arthur with a lot of curiosity; it was clear that the man was going to be one of the most curious people in the room.
“Yes… We’ve got something!” Harry said, surprising everyone. “However, we’re not showing you guys anything yet, as we're not sure it's safe to handle outside a laboratory. We also need to be careful not to break it. Sorry for being so secretive, guys,” Harry said as he grabbed Hermione’s hand.
“Harry, where are we going?” She asked, surprised by his sudden show of strength.
“Easy, we’re going to a place in which we can experiment without worrying about the outcome, unless we die, of course,” Harry told her with a smirk.
Soon they were at Grimmauld Place; after arriving, Harry took her to the basement. Harry had been in this place after exploring it for one day; he was happy to find a place in which the people who lived here had practiced magic and done crazy stuff. Still, Hermione was a bit creeped out to see blood in this place.
But another interesting thing was that Harry found a place to make a mess and not worry about the consequences, and so he and Hermione started to work. They made a lot of tests on a piece of the material; however, the tests were becoming more and more intense. They also read the results that they stole; however, they came up with a conclusion.
“There’s no conclusion,” Harry declared.
Hermione nodded.
“Apparently it's a material so perfect that not even the scientists were able to name it,” Harry added.
Then there was a silence coming from Hermione.
“Mione, what’s going on?” Asked Harry, surprised by her change of attitude.
“Uh… I was thinking of something crazy,” Hermione said this time.
“Really? What are you thinking of?” Harry was curious; he needed to know everything.
“I have a friend in the Department of Mysteries. I think that if we contact that person, then there’s a little possibility of knowing more about that material; they have incredible devices to do testing there,” Hermione told her best friend and lover.
Harry was about to counterargue; however, he soon remembered that there was no time for pride in this situation.
“Let’s do it,” Harry decided to focus on what’s important.
Five minutes later, someone else arrived at Harry’s home; it was a redhead that he knew very well.
“Susan Bones? She’s the mysterious person who can save us?” Asked Harry, surprised.
“Yes… She was scouted by the Department of Mysteries this year; she was on an internship, or so she told me,” Hermione told him.
“You’re not graduating, Susan?” Harry asked, surprised.
“Eh, it’s not necessary unless you have Hermione’s grades. Then, if your grades are somehow similar to hers, then you should totally graduate, but for the rest of us, as long as we finish our fifth year and we found ourselves personally scouted, that’s more than enough, so… What did you guys need help with?” The redhead said in an enthusiastic tone.
Soon Harry and Hermione told her about the material, and the redhead was surprised. They suppressed the information about the UFOs and the aliens; however, it seemed like Susan was more than happy to engage with it.
“Harry… I’m going to leave you with Susan,” Hermione declared as she stared at her watch.
“Why?” He asked, surprised.
“Because I’m picking up my parents in Australia,” she declared, and Harry’s eyes widened.
She was right. Now that there was no threat of war, it didn’t make sense to have them on the other side of the world with their memories changed, so he nodded at her, and they shared a small cheek kiss before she finally left.
“This material is very interesting, Harry… It's very solid, but at the same time, it’s very light. I want to study this thing deeply. Can I take it with me?” She told Harry, and he nodded.
They had more samples, so Susan would be able to take it and do as many studies as possible.
“Thanks a lot, Susan. I know we’re asking for something crazy, but I can assure you that the fate of this world rests in the knowledge you can get of this material,” he declared with a determined expression.
The redhead nodded before she left with a smile on her face. Harry couldn’t help but look at her rear as she left; he couldn’t believe he hadn’t paid attention to how beautiful she was before. However, he decided to get back to reality. Now, for the first time in ages, he was alone; this was a time for him to have a bit of self-reflection.
Still, he didn’t want to spend the rest of his days in this depressing house, so he decided that he was going to have fun, and so he decided to get something to eat; however, on the way to the restaurant, he was stopped by a blonde who was carrying her wand as if she were ready to attack.
“Miss Greengrass,” Harry said sarcastically.
He loathed all the Slytherins, and even though this wasn’t the right time to think about such rivalries, he still couldn’t let go of the past because of how awful she was alongside her group of friends.
“Potter, we need to talk,” she said with a serious tone.
“I don’t think there’s something for us to discuss. Now, if you excuse me, I’m hungry and—” She stopped him by placing a finger on his lips; he rolled his eyes.
“Please, Potter… It’s about the alien invasion you talked about in the newspaper!” She said desperately.
Now, that surprised Harry. Out of all the people he expected to discuss his claims, Daphne Greengrass was the last person in his mind; it seemed like she truly wanted to learn.
“Fine…” He answered, and a couple of minutes later they were sharing a meal at the same table.
There was an uncomfortable silence until she decided to clarify her voice.
“I know you hate my guts, but I just want to know… Are they real?” She asked in a serious tone.
Harry stared at her with a serious expression, and then he nodded; however, judging by her expression, it was clear that she didn't believe him.
