Sorry for the delay this week. Yesterday involved a lot of writing. The first Mirkwood piece nearly has a complete draft, and I had to write some pitches for my internship. I expect to finish the Mirkwood draft today. When editing is done, you'll get the complete piece.

Things have been exhausting lately. I sprained my ankle during a move and had to walk through Penn Station with an injury and several heavy bags. I'm resting at some friends' apartment in Rhode Island for the summer because I don't have another place to go.

It's needed: I'm experiencing severe burnout from two traumatic semesters without a break, so work is pretty difficult at the moment. I'm hoping I don't take a whole summer to recover. But if I do, them's the breaks.

I've got some stories for you though! Most of them are very unpleasant! If you want depressing news, well, here are the headlines:

Vice shows that the anti-trans and anti-abortion movements are closely tied together, as 42 of the United States are floating laws against abortion or trans people. In just the first four months of 2022, 36 state legislatures introduced 156 anti-trans bills. Of the 31 states weighing criminalizing trans people in sports, 17 are weighing an abortion ban.

 This week Vice also reports that right-wing rag The Daily Wire has sunk tens of thousands of dollars into the campaign against Amber Heard.

Herschel Walker seems to be scamming veterans, hilariously.

The New York Times ran a quite good piece on French exploitation of Haiti, but has rightly been criticized for giving the U.S. a free pass on its imperialism.

On a lighter note, I can't wait to see The Northman, and this article on its viking raid is quite fun. Somebody should take me to see The Northman.
