THANK YOU VIP! This is a brilliant and beautiful movie.

Edgar Gonzalez

Never seen this one, although i do hear good things about it. Well what are we waiting for... LETS CHECK IT OUT FAM!

Dan Gershgol

First time hearing about this movie. Makes a lot of sense viewing part 3 as a metaphor rather than what is actually happening. I was so confused at the beginning.

People don’t realize how many stars are actually visible when you get far enough away from civilization. I saw it once while deployed on a Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Pacific around 2003–2004. Naval ships run strict light discipline at night, so almost everything was dark except dim red lights. We were about 1,000 miles from any light source in every direction. One night we snuck up to the very top of the ship where nothing was above us but sky. When I looked up, I almost passed out. For a few seconds my brain genuinely couldn’t process what it was seeing. It was this strange mix of awe and fear. The sky wasn’t black. It was almost white. There were so many stars packed together that you could barely see any darkness between them. Just tiny pinpricks of black in an ocean of bright stars. Living near civilization, you probably see maybe 1% of what’s actually up there. Out there, it felt like seeing all of the stars in existence

We need action, suspense or horror please. These romance, cartoons and other stuff is alot. Need different genres please

I think a rotating schedule could be a great idea — work through a series at a time, plus 2-3 movies a week alternating between horror/action/drama one week and comedy/sci-fi/fantasy the next. Everyone would (hopefully) get their fix that way!

Kim Cottingham

Exactly. I suggested it 2 months ago and they said that's good idea but guess not that great lol. I have liked 2 movies out of last 15. Least that way we would get a variety

I love this movie! You guys should watch The Long Walk next...another Stephen King and a absolute masterpiece of a movie in my opinion.

Jeremy V.

I watched this whole damn movie and Chucky wasn’t even in it! 🥸

"Blood in Blood out"

Mister Lou

Great movie and great reaction! Please check out the Long Walk!

Please watch One Battle After Another

It all took place in Chuck's head, everything the teacher explained to him about what's in his mind now and what will be in the future. The 'Thank You Chuck for 39 Wonderful Years,' was his family talking to him. The stars and planets going dark, were his brain cells shutting down. When he died ... bam! black. Brilliant movie.

I love moments and memories like this, recognizing how vast our universe is and being able to focus on one small aspect of it.

Stacey

What did you think?

Edgar Gonzalez

I liked it...can't believe it slipped my movie radar 👍

Stacey

The movie poster caption is "Every life is a universe all it's own. " Pretty much sums up the entire movie. So clever to build the 3rd act (1st scene) of Chuck's brain metaphorically around the dissolution of the universe. Matthew Lillard's character in the beginning says we're at the end of the 5 stages of grief, acceptance of the end of life. It's all about the moments that shape up and being fully present/aware of them regardless of the joy or pain they may bring. It's very much an ode to life in general, and how special each moment is.

This turned out to be a good movie. It was a bit slow in the beginning but Acts two and one picked up and the movie was a lot more interesting... at least to me. Did you guys recognize Loki ( Chuck) and Luke Skywalker (Chuck's Grandfather) ? When i saw that it was a Stephen King movie the whole movie made sense. Good watch Asia & BJ Now it's time for the next Asia and BJ series reaction suggestions: Silicon Valley, 2020, 6 seasons The Pacific 2010 10 part miniseries (about the war in the Pacific in WWII) (produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg who also produced Band of Brothers) The Offer 2022 10 part limited series (based on the crazy true story behind the making of The Godfather) It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 2005 17 seasons Modern Family 2009 11 seasons Yellowstone 2018 5 seasons Boardwalk Empire 2010 5 season Seinfeld 1989 9 seasons

Thank you for explaining that. All of that honestly went over my head. So is that what all of the worldwide Catastrophe was in act 3? I was trying to place it after the movie but it never made sense to me.

Stacey

You pretty much nailed the intention of Act 3. It is literally what is going through Chuck's mind as he's dying, but with a lot of metaphors. Because he has brain cancer, all of his meaningful memories are jumbled up. What is quite clever is you essentially get a "repeat" of the meaningful moments as the movie works backwards through each Act. Repetition is used in literature, speeches, songs, etc to drive home the main points. I've found that the setting of each repetitive moment gave me a different perspective of is meaning. Flanagan, the director, is notorious for playing with those dual meanings, and he does it in the most brilliant way. I love his adaptations.

Stacey

Gimme Some Lovin is by The Spencer Davis Group. I gave you the request for the reaction very early in your reaction days. 🥰 The singer and organ player is a very young Steve Winwood (one of my all time faves). You'd probably recognize him from the songs Higher Love or Roll With It.

The nosey neighbor was Nancy from Nightmare on Elm Street.

I'm not crying...you are! (I read this short story while waiting for my flight, and cried then too!)

The actress who plays Felicia was Nebula from the Marvel movies

Raphael Bivas

I know I'm late to the game, but Bubbe and Zayde are Yiddish for Grandma and Grandpa.
