Moriarty x Jaffe: The Feeling of Fall Gaming | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 413

Please welcome storied game designer David Jaffe back to Sacred Symbols+ for another rousing episode of Moriarty x Jaffe. Today, our winding two hour chat touches on lots of topics, including early 3D development, the health of publishers like Konami and Ubisoft, the fundamental principles behind the Metroidvania genre, the renaissance of paper-and-pencil RPGs, the strength of the horror genre, and more. We also talk about a ton of games and franchises: Zelda, Silent Hill, Metroid, Castlevania, Shadow Complex, Until Dawn, Kunitsu-Gami, Metaphor, and so on. We hope you enjoy our conversation, and encourage you -- as always -- to keep your feedback coming.

Birds Aren't Real

Don't listen to Jaffe.. Iron Meat is out on consoles as well as Steam.

"why is it so hard to make a good Contra game?" sigh, yes. I bought that Contra Collection, and the thing was worth it for Contra III: The Alien Wars alone. But, it seems like that peak has never been reached again by the konami teams. I do think Blazing Chrome is one of the best Contra-likes and I need to try this Iron Meat one.
