It's me, Colin. Please welcome the entire team that helped make Saint Slayer: Lillymo co-owner, programmer, and designer Barry Johnson, artist and designer Joshua Gossage, composer and musician Josh Davis, graphic artist and marketer Lachlan Pini, and PR specialist Ben Smith. Together (along with me, Lillymo co-owner and writer), we dissect the creation of our studio's seventh game. We discuss the embryo of the idea, how it morphed from what we called Spear Game into what it would become, what games we drew from for inspiration, the reasons we focused so heavily on Steam, and a heck of a lot more. As always, we're pleased to give precious insight into the creation of the games, and what better way to do it than from the primary perspective? Please enjoy.

Dante's Alighieri Hogs

I'm slightly confused as to where the paranoia about the reception by Christians comes from? Perhaps because I wasn't raised religious but I generally get the vibe that religion is absolutely passé. Even practicing Christians, at least in the west, don't take it particularly seriously (EU perspective). I'd expect it to be at least somewhat similar to the US considering the vast amount of non- or anti religious media coming from there. Am I way off here?

Quick correction when referencing Romania. Bucharest is Romania, Budapest is Hungary.

Devon!

Great episode. Fantastic game. Thanks for sharing how real those "before launch meltdowns" with us. Shows how much y'all cared about this work. Looking forward to SS 2!

You guys already know this since I'm active in the discord, but the game is awesome and I really appreciate your amazing work. Gonna keep topping the speedrun charts, I'm now at around 3:20 minutes faster than a run Barry shared with us :P

Probably stems from their own upbringing. It’s much different where I’m from now but growing up it was not uncommon for my friends to be forbidden from enjoying Harry Potter or Pokemon as it’s “anti-Christian” to them.

Dante's Alighieri Hogs

I suppose, but especially creatives I'd expect a tad more irreverence. Even from Col's generation? Despite the religious-ish upbringing.

Gotta echo this sentiment! We gotta get more speedrunners in the discord and LSM community
