It's Not Far Down to Paradise | Sacred Symbols, Episode 417

With Grand Theft Auto VI finally launching this November, we've been left without a key piece of information: Its price. Conjecture and prognostication has run rampant, but now we have confirmation that GTA6's base cost is $80 in the United States, with a $100 version offering players some perks and unlocks. With our long-awaited trip down to Leonida drawing closer on the horizon, we've much to discuss, including our hype level, whether we'll buy the base or special edition, the lack of a real physical version, and -- perhaps most intriguingly -- no new trailer or gameplay videos to help sell a product that (let's be honest) probably doesn't need much help to begin with. Other news this week includes significant layoffs at Sony-owned Bungie, indications that God of War: Laufey may launch as early as Q1 2027, more delisted shovelware tripe removed from PlayStation Store, executive-level issues at FromSoft, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's with Steam Machine's absurd price? Should Sony look to invest in any of Xbox's distressed assets? Why did PlayStation even bother publishing Midnight Murder Club if they were only going to ignore it? Will Chris and Colin one day have their shared ex-psychiatrist on the show to discuss our many mental ailments? Follow the hosts! What bothers me about Sony cutting Destiny is, besides the alleged cost issue, if it is down to them not wanting as much live service, why not treat Destiny as something that doesn’t demand constant updates? We’ve already gone so long without updates, they just got the game into a much stronger position, they were ready to propel into a more refined, perhaps less constant future and instead they’re giving up in favour of a game that quite clearly doesn’t have the popularity or interest as Destiny To me, it comes off like they somewhat want it to fail, even though that doesn’t make sense lol

Exactly, maybe some minor updates and events in between with stuff to earn etc. but think it made sense for Marathon to take priority for a bit whilst D2 slowed down

Enough with the bi thumbnails Lock. We get it, you enjoy knob. Don’t make the rest of us crave it too.

Only thing I'm worried about with GTA is that if not all, then most of ppl involved in making it what it is are gone.

I know I used to support the podcast under a different email but I ended up losing access to that email so that's two users right there... I'm not sure I even want to think about what patreon must look like on the back end

Real talk Colin, you'll be way better off not on the SSRI's. The lows may be lower sometimes but oh the highs of life that you miss out on when you take that stuff. It's just a better overall existence day to day in my opinion. Gratz

The Youtube ads are becoming ridiculous. I am a Patreon and want to watch you guys instead of just listening, but man... Without Youtube premium I just wrote them down in the last 25 minutes, there have been 5 ads break. 11:01 11:06 11:11 11:17 11:22 I don't know if you have any control on it besides selecting a preset, but ads every 5 minites os becoming a little bit egregious.
